3/5 good to hear the early days of grunge and proto garage rock but other than Gigantic and Broken Face fairly forgettable.
4/5. A Bowie I had never encountered before. Excellent and melancholic.
Very mixed opinions. A few tracks fairy dull or overly wrong, but also some absolute bangers. Might revisit.
A classic with a particularly strong opening seven tracks, however, it does tail off.
A mixed bag and do not really get the fuss. But Paranoid Android and Karma Police are great and might improve on repeated listens.
Excellent funky baselines (obviously). Very catchy and accessible rocky funk which I am delighted to be exploring.
I have a sneaky feeling I know this. A bonified masterpiece that is responsible for inspiring so many other bands that I adore.
A bit too many long guitar solos for me tastes but tracks like Highway Chile are absolute bangers.
An unexpected gem. Really enjoyable rnb with elements of soul.
A dull band I have never got the fuss over.
Excellent blues rock. Back Door and Travellin Band are bangers.
Beyond Imagine and Crippled Inside turgid rubbish.
Opening four tracks are stunning but it tails off after that.
Interesting rnb but not my thing. Much preferred the indie and funk inflected Solange.
I find my feelings about jazz very complicated as I don't know what I am missing but I think the problem is with me.
Hip-hop is not my thing but this is the better end of the spectrum. Political and sharp.
Excellent desert blues. Really reminded me of John Lee Hooker.
Not my thing but it has grown on me with repeated listens. Each track has aspects that I like but that is not enough for each 15 minute epic to be worth regular revisiting.
One or two tracks that interested me but generally a bit dull. However, I didn't dislike any of it but I doubt I will remember it in a weeks time.
My musical nightmare: an Unlistenable wall of noise. I honestly lasted one track before I couldn't take it anymore.
Superb. Not an artist I had ever heard. Wonderful vocals, funk inflected rhythms and just made me want to dance.
Catchy hip-hop with some real funky and danceable backing music. A pleasant surprise.
Just wonderful. Beyond the famous singles tracks like Queen Bitch and Kooks are bangers.
Some of it gets a bit proggy for me but there are also some bangers.
Again there is interesting stuff here but far too jazzy for me.
Interesting 60s pop with some psychedelic elements to it but I didn't like it enough to go back to it.
One of my favourite ever albums. Michael is genuinely one of the best singles of the 2000s. Take Me Out, This Fire, Jacqueline, 40ft etc are all top draw.
I didn't hate it but it was a pretty tedious combination of prog-rock and folk.
It is fine? I know the way to really appreciate Dylan is to listen to the lyrics carefully but not had the time today.
I am still not his biggest fan but I preferred it to Highway 61.
Some superb guitar (as expected) and obviously a really experimental work but mostly not my thing. Far too often it descends into discordant noise. I much preferred Electric Lady Land.
Very 80s powerbalads but better than I expected.
Honestly, quite boring. I adore the Queen is Dead but this was much more maudlin album that lacked any standout catchy singles.
Another Dylan? I don't have the energy.
So near me liking it. Female vocalist, garage rock adjacent sound but I was mostly quite bored.
It was alright. Perfectly listenable late 80s hip-hop/rnb but I didn't enjoy as much as Jurassic 5 and Solange.
Perfectly enjoyable crooning and Frank has lovely voice. However, a whole album is a bit too much for me.
Super stuff. Full of brilliant dancing bangers.
As always with Wild Beasts I am on the edge of truly liking them. Perfectly good and nice to revisit after many years
Throw away pop/soul. Honestly baffled why it is on here but I didn't hate it.
Really enjoyable Brazilian 60s psychedelic pop. Would never have listened without this odyssey.
Honestly very bored by it. I just wanted to hear same era PJ Harvey instead.
Excellent and band I need to investigate more.
Not as bad as I thought at the beginning and Nothing Compares to You is a classic, but this really isn't my thing.
Very boring. How did the band who wrote Friday I'm in Love and Love Cats write this.
Perfectly fine. All a bit plodding but Fisherman's Blues is great.
Again another hip-hop I haven't clicked with. Doesn't have the funky beats of Jurassic 5 or Public Enemy.
Excellent 60s pop music. Mama Said, I Only Want to Be With You, Nothing all bangers.
Pleasantly surprised by this. A wall of scuzzy noise guitar but underneath some lovely melodies. Will revisit in the future as I think it is a grower.
Very odd. Feels like the soundtrack to some bombastic 1970s sci-fi film but I did not hate this as I expected too.
Come Out and Play is a classic but the rest of the album is a bit repetitive. American pop punk has never really been my thing.
It is fine. A bit soft rock for me but Sultans of Swing is a classic .
A masterpiece. Not the Stripes best album but that is no criticism.
Any Tom Waits is wonderful and Johannesburg, Illinois is a truly beautiful song but I think this album only hints at the genius to come.
It was fine. British 60s blues rock is a genre I've never clicked with.
Bitter Sweet Symphony is excellent but a bit of a singles album.
Better than expected. Not my thing but some of the singles are very Transformers The Movie (which is no criticism).
Just wonderful. How Can You Mend a Broken Heart is just one of the many soulful bangers on here.
I don't really have an opinion? It was fine. Brit pop with no emotional soul.
Really enjoyable pop and funk infused Motown.
It grew on me over the day! Hard rock with funky elements that reminded me in the base lines of early Chillis. Also, Cult of Personality has such strong guitar hero memories.
The man has dreadful views and his music is pretty dull. Nearly fell asleep.
Dreadful. The worst of prog and it sounded like a few people having breakdowns on a keyboard.
Very surprised this is on the list but still a great big of nostalgia. Dirty Dance Hall is a favourite.
I really don't get the fuss? Perfectly unobjectionable but only one or two memorable tracks. Plus the tone of language on their wiki is insufferable.
Excellent proto garage rock. I am not quite sure how I have never listened to this before.
Very enjoyable post-punk, with hints of the Gang of Four, but feels just lacking something I can't put my finger on to tip it into being a classic.
Fantastic again but I think I prefer Night at the Opera. Flick of the Rist and Get Back Leroy Brown are two new favourites.
More confirmation I just do not get jazz.
Very enjoyable Americana that I am sure will reward return visits. Also, I did not know they were a man!
Again very much a lesser Britpop band. Fairly boring and validates my decision to fast forward through them on Jools Holland over the years.
Catchy pop soul with some great funky moments not as keen on the ballads.
Pretty boring to be honest. Tedious rock.
Enjoyable psychedelic 60s rock. Would probably enjoy it more with repeated listens that I doubt I am ever going to give it.
Just fantastic. One of my favourite discoveries so far.
Superb album. Varied sound, I like Jim Morrisons voice and a few absolute bangers with the only thing stopping it being 5 stars is some tracks outstaying their welcome.
Perfectly fine but not my thing. Far too many boring guitar solos.
I really do not get this band and I don't understand why. Just quite, quite boring.
Really did not like this at all. Ugh.
It did grow on my over the day but still pretty boring (though I suppose that is the point of this ambient electronica).
Interesting world music/jazz but would not listen again.
Solid rhythm and blues inspired rock and roll. I've heard it done by so many other people it lacks the power I am sure it had at the time. I would rather have a Dr Feelgood album.
I had never heard of them before but enjoyable thrashy post punk.
One Love and some other great tracks. It is not all my cup of tea but still great reggae.
Honestly hated it. Managed 4 overlong tracks before I gave up. How this band later did a banger like Country Girl I have no idea.
Garage really isn't thing and listening to it while marking maths books probably isn't the correct setting, however, actually surprised how much I didn't mind it.
Just a masterpiece. So, so many fantastic songs but Sweet Jean Vincent, Billericie Dickie and Plastow Patricia are favourites.
Interesting early 1990s hip-hop. Perfect decent but I'm not as keen as I was on Public Enemy from the same era. Some great uses of sampling which I really enjoyed.
Dull as dish water and the one song I actually enjoyed (One) is much better done by Johnny Cash.
Wonderful stuff particularly Just a Gigalo.
Another day of wonderful music. This Town is a 70s classic and the whole album is full of quirky art rock.
Dull and forgettable country.
Street fighting man and sympathy for the devil are great. A stronger album than the previous one.
Very enjoyable 1980s indie that I had never heard of. I can hear The Smiths, REM and others in the melodies.
Every track starts off interesting and then severely outstayed its welcome so I don't really know what I think. Could have been a 2 on another day.
Honestly quite boring which was not what I expecting. Most tracks didn't go anywhere and a lack of hooks.
Actually ghastly. The opening 9 minute track of screaming and discordant guitars sets the tone well.
Loved this. Music that was made to be danced too with those clear Celtic influences permeating through the post-punk, poppy hooks.
Pleasantly surprised by this. Enjoyable mid 90s rock album where you can hear the lingering grunge influences.
Perfectly fine early 70s pop music but I struggle to see why it is on this list.
Better then expected but not for me. Very repetitive.
As always with Led Zeppelin some tracks that I really dig (Whole Lotta Love and Living Loving Maid) but others that outstay their welcome.
Just fantastic proto garage rock. Boss Hoss and Have Love are personal favourites.
A brilliant album with Pump It and Radio Radio being just some of the highlights. Not quite enough to be a five star but maybe I'm being harsh.
Ether, Naturals Not in It, Not Great Men, Damaged Goods, I Found that Essence Rare and At Home He is aTourist are some of the bangers. Without them no Franz Ferdinand etc.
Lovely voice and nice song writing. Probably needs more listens.
Bloody awful. Opening track 25 minutes long? No thank you.
