1001 Albums Summary

This is honestly one of the best albums ever written. An all time great.

While I like this album because Miles Davis is a GOAT, it is a compilation album and lacks the unity of a complete, focused album. All the songs are really good, but it just feels as if it is missing that album feel.

This is a landmark album in hip hop with a lot of firsts for the genre. At times the album feels dated because of how far the genre has progressed since the release of this album.

Amazing album from one of the best. Really makes you feel like you are off in the heat of the islands even though the cool fall weather is starting to set in now.

I have never listened to this album before, but I really enjoyed the indie electronic sound to it. The vocals were very enjoyable and had a 90s punk vibe similar to Gwen Stefani in No Doubt.

I do not love Joni Mitchell, but this album is great. Excellent writing and vocal performance. The instrumentals are immaculate. The last song Twisted really stood out to me as it is essentially a vocal jazz performance.

This has got to be the most mid Marvin Gaye album. While it is smooth, every song is stylistically identical which made it pretty boring to me.

Well this is a weird album. The Butthole Surfers experiment with a lot of different sounds here. None of which are very appealing to me. The poor dog in the album cover.

Very interesting and progressive political commentary. Talks a lot about being gay which is often frowned upon in the hip hop community.

I really like the piano and orchestral arrangements in this album. Tori Amos also has a very pretty voice.

Maybe I just don't like UK hip/hop that much, but this album is pretty abrasive to me. The production is indeed "grimy" and the lyrics are tough for me as an American to understand. Between the distracting beats and difficult-to-understand lyrics it was tough for me to get anything out of this.
