I don’t like folk too much but there were some standout tracks! Def a 3 1/2 star album for me.
A classic and extremely important album. The first one of this list I’ve heard before! It’s still fuck the police.
Another I’ve heard before and love! My Zeppelin phase in high school was strronnggggg. I listened to their first 5 albums + parts of Physical Graffiti and Presence on repeat. This album is great! I love the blues influences on here, probably the strongest it ever is on any Zeppelin album. Standout tracks:
- Good Times, Bad Times
- Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
- Dazed and Confused*
- Your Time Is Gonna Come
- How Many More Times
John Bonham is tha GOAT
Respect your elders! But more importantly, respect the Black community for doing it first! Every. Single. Time.
i just don't like folk music. i respect bob dylan and his impact blah blah but i just don't care for it. some tracks i enjoyed still
Solid but somewhat repetitive for me. Also that accordion (?) made me think of overcooked lol so couldn’t take it too serious.
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking was a song I had on repeat during my classic rock phase in high school. Absolutely killer song. Solid album overall! I really liked I Got the Blues and Moonlight Mile, those were new songs for me. I think this is the first Rolling Stones album I've listened to all the way through. I always just listened to specific songs, that's it. Solid project! 3 1/2 (if i could do halves on this thing).
Wow! Exactly right up my alley. I’ve been getting more and more into the disco and funk era over the years and this hit. Ofc the most famous song le freak I’ve heard but the rest of the album is stellar!!
Standouts:
Chic Cheer
Savoir Faire
I Want Your Love
At Last I Am Free
Sometimes You Win
Such a great listen, will def buy this on vinyl.
Eh. It was fine. Not for me really. Hong Kong Garden was the standout track.
Pretty solid! Cool first “modern” era album, liked some songs. A very 3 star album.
Another album I've heard before and like! Funny enough, I just listened to this album for the first time not too long ago, before starting this challenge. I've liked Radiohead, never been the biggest fan, but I enjoy many songs and some albums. This was fun to listen to again.
GZA THE GENIUS
We form like Voltron and he happens to be the head.
So so fun!!! So much life in the music.
One of the ugliest album covers I’ve ever seen. It was fine music but yeah
Heard it before! Also during my classic rock phase in hs. Didn’t really age well for me though. Especially since Axel Rose sucks.
Fun and groovy disco album? Sign me upppp. Ofc I’ve heard the most famous song on here (although never in full before) but the rest of the album is a great listen.
Another album/band I listened to in hs during my classic rock phase. I always felt cool listening to deep purple cause the felt more lowkey compared to other bands. Child in time is the obvious stand out. Cool album.
A little disappointed by this one. I really thought I was gonna enjoy it more but found it just okay. Parts reminded me of Physical Graffiti, last song sounded like Black Sabbath’s rendition of Changes.
Not my fav from Radiohead but still solid
Holy shit I did not think I was gonna like this album this much. But when something sounds like a classic video game soundtrack with jungle style beats there’s a good chance ima like it. Def will look out for this on vinyl!
What am playing crazy taxi or something?
Solid but not extraordinary. Singer’s voice bothered me after a while. Really enjoyed the instrumentation on this tho!
Fuck Eric Clapton, but this slaps man. Some of rock's greatest albums and songs came from some simp whining about a woman.
Another surprise album! I genuinely really enjoyed the journey this album put me on.
Yeah yeah I know we all make fun of Coldplay now but once upon a time they were actually pretty good. I’ve never listened to this album in full and was surprised how much I liked it!
So skeptical when I was there was a war pigs cover but damn they killed it.
When I first was getting into Bowie back in high school I could not understand this album. Now is clicks for me and it fuckin slaps.
My favorite Beatles album since I was a kid! Such an iconic cover and story behind this album. A Day In The Life is still one of my fav songs from them.
The Who are just so corny and cringe I cannot take them seriously.
My reaction to seeing this was my album of the day: YOOOOOOOOOOOO HAHAHHAHAHAHA
Dude what a pleasant fuckin surprise that this list goes up to albums this recent!!! I absolutely loved this album in college when it came out. Thundercat is an absolute master of his craft. His bass playing is mind melting and his range is incredible. Like tell me how he can go from contributing to one of the greatest albums ever in TPAB to fuckin meowing and singing about he wishes he was cat.
Thundercat I love you and wow I’m so excited that this list has relatively recent albums! Now that I know this though, if TPAB or Blonde aren’t on here ima be pissed.
Yep this sounded like 2009 lol
It was like the soundtrack to tumblr or like I’m shopping at urban outfitters or something. I see where other bands got influenced though but I just didn’t care too much for their singing. Started off pretty solid but the second half just felt so slow and boring. It just felt like it was trying too hard to be deep and emotional.
Chuck D: I’m going to deliver some of the most profound, socially relevant, raps with force and power.
Flavor Flav: I’m going to provide so much hype and energy to the whole album.
Terminator X: I’m going make some cool drum beats and then add the most ear piercing annoying sound I can find and put it on repeat for every bar.
I remember when this album came out. I really wanted to like it cause the cover art is so pretty. But it just didn't click then, and while I liked it more this time, it still doesn't really land for me.
Okay I get why my dad was listening to this when I was younger.
Beautiful, gorgeous, jaw dropping, a spectacle.
And that’s just me describing Sade’s looks
Really? This was an album I needed to hear before I die? Yeah alright.
why the FUCK is this album on this list
I really liked the music but my gawd is this dude so corny when singing lmao
No wonder French people are so rude. I’d be pissed too if this was the music coming out of my country.
It’s a good album, great even at times, but it’s just too damn long.
Bruh was that Jack Black??
Hated his voice. Album cover corny as hell.
Absolutely stunning wow. Def gonna be a buy on vinyl for me. Way to live up to your band name too.
Bruh how do some of these albums get on this list
Wow this was great! Like I’m sure is the case for many people, the only R.E.M. song I knew was Losing My Religion. I never bothered to explore more from there, so I’m happy this album is on this list and that it’s so good! Def one I’ll revisit and maybe even buy on vinyl.
Enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. I only knew Walk going into it but really liked the rest of this album. Gonna be a workout album for me for sureeeeee.
GGGGG G-UNITTTTT
There are seriously some racist takes on here about this album. Don’t like it? Well then it’s probably not for you. That’s it, move on. All that extra shit like calling the stuff 50 raps about a “cultural cesspool” is just flat out fucked up and racist.
Anyway this album is awesome. P.I.M.P. is such a killer track, I’ve always loved those steel drums on the beat. As a side note, if you’ve never seen some of 50’s old tweets please look them up for a good laugh.
Man The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders better be on this list too cause as good as this album is, those two are absolutely legendary. RIP Phife Dawg
A really good jam album. Some tunes on here I enjoyed a lot, but after a while it all kinda blended together. That’s the thing with long albums like this, you gotta switch it up at some point.
You on point tip?
All the time phife!
After just getting People’s Instinctive Travels a few days ago I was hoping to get this album next; I just didn’t expect to get it this soon! This has been my favorite ATCQ album since I first got into them in high school. The jazz influences on the beats are incredible. Q-Tip and Phife Dawg ride those beats with masterful and playful rhymes. I love this album.
A shame that an album with such a nice cover can be so bad.
The second half of this album really saved it for me though. The run from Come Together to Loaded to Damaged was the highlight for me.
