fascinating vivid ambient soundscapes. one of those albums i wouldn't have guessed that i would enjoy it that much. one of the tracks reminds me of UT's "Facing Worlds" soundtrack.

while the instrumentalization starts out interesting, this quickly turns into a dumpster fire of a series of boring rock ballad after boring rock ballad.

i agree with the spotify minority that on this album, "Breakdown" is the real pearl while "American Girl" just has a catchy name, guhhhh. straightforward, enjoyable and reduce classic rock.

love how the different influences originating from this band/album are palpable in several bands i know (contemporary and older ones). at times it feels like Mars Volta, there's pink floyd in it, Porcupine Tree, Opeth and a myriad other flavours. i could go on and on! still it feels original, because certainly it is - the origin, a cornerstone of prog rock!

one of the few heavily positive toned albums i like. it feels goofy, honest, energetic.. and what a steam train of ideas! also: sting's voice, it's just otherworldly!

while i like its dadaistic nature, the album is just not that appealing to me as it is the music equivalent of a plastic table compared to a metal and wood design.

ok, did the usual approach with reggae: 1. listen to a couple songs. 2. stop. 3. never think about it again. the usual votum: good music for smoking weed, rubbish for anything else.

the initial electrifying pressing and raw flashyness of the record loses itself halfway through the album giving way to a more pulsating and flowy experience. for me, that's something i enjoy listening to in a club setting but not as an album. still, it's a refreshing listen that i've enjoyed more and more with every playthrough

quite the weird mixture of folk rock, sometimes falling down into the abyss of cheesy folk only to rise into prog heaven. verdict: a very unsatisfying 3 for the whole album.

well, i'm guilty as anybody growing up around the turn of the millennium to have listened to Britney voluntarily and/or involuntarily a thousand times. the hit songs of this album are ingrained in my memory and i can't help but feel nostalgia listening to them. of course, i prefer grindcore or being impaled with hot spears (ha, see what i did there?) to listening to this, but i'm unable to give it 1 star. must be a satanic ritual thingy ingrained in the record.

there's not much to say about this album. this is as 3-material as it gets. i "like" it.

"Our House" is one of those songs that i've heard so often involuntarily, i don't even have an opinion anymore. might as well ask what i think about trees in general. the rest of the album: not enough depth

wasn't a big surprise for me that the album left me unharmed but also unimpressed.

i have a strange fondness for Nick Cave. this album is not my favourite one, i appreciate his darker tones more.

most of this album is cheese, but boy, "Freedom! '90" is a song worth listening to! not even the memorable overused passages, but the second part with the bass solo and the bridge, ahhhh!

argh, so annoying! at times there's a hint of radiohead glimmering through the noise but in the end i regret not having stopped at the end of the 10m opening track

quirky pop, sometimes countryesque. not bad, but in the end, not my taste. like weak coffee, where's the punch?

just a straight forward heavy rock album without bells and whistles. aged very well!

metallica is one of very few bands i know that are able to botch a record with a symphonic orchestra. yeah, go on and just perform your songs unaltered with an orchestra in the background moving along. the hybris!

obviously i'm no big rap fan, however this album feels different. i love the instrumentalisation, the flow, even the raps are embedded beautifully

well, it's certainly creative! from an art perspective, this is an admirable attempt. nothing to listen for fun.

cozy jazzy ranch rock? still need a ranch and a rocking chair to enjoy this. it's okayish, but i wouldn't go that far to say i enjoy it...

fluffy dream melodies, mostly without substance and impact

Quirky indiesque rock with a remarkable depth ranging from dreamy-proggy Radiohead stuff to straight ass White Stripes galore. awesome addition!

the release has a common problem of similar acts. it switches between genius instrumentalisation and a heavy whininess. all in all, very lovely release - especially The Asphalt World!

beyond it's mediocrity, horrible lyrics and some really great songs like "Take Me Out", it's just a nice album to enjoy overall.
