Beautifully constructed, rocks hard, feels hard
While Lightning Bolt comes down barely on the music side of the divide, Boredoms comes down just barely on the noise side of the divide. It's so close to amazing but it's too painful
Awesome sound, I don't know that it's for me, but it's perfect.
Refining the project started by UB40 to sing Ragea about your own experience, Sublime using off beat guitar to croon about the plight of urban poor, and it hits just right. Santeria is a perfect song, and the rest supports it well. 10/10.
The most approachable Coltrane
While not quite having moment to moment music theory perfection, the psychedelic dream state of profundity and beauty is something really special
What a beautiful gift. I cried for more than half the run time. My new favorite album
The Mouth cycle are my four actual favorite albums, I just didn't know we got to count them as real music since they are so obviously musical shit posts.
Gorgeous, the Dialect adds so much
Great sixties guitar band sound
My favorite rapper doing some of his best work! Blood Sandwich, Shrunk, Lotta Years, Get Out of the Car, so many top 1000 tracks on one album.
Very pretty, and emotive enough to hold interest
I don't like death metal as much with a tenor. Otherwise, perfection.
Somehow simultaneously fun and painful. Dips a little too far into misery porn for my taste.
It was good but too long. By the end I couldn't tell one song from the next. It's hard for punk to get boring, but it definitely wasn't holding interest.
Pretty, but did not do enough musically to get me past the language barrier
So much fun in every track.
Something about this worked. On paper not my thing, but in practice quite nice.
Some really interesting tunes
So cool, amazing flow, incredible groove
THE BEST CHRISTMAS ALBUM OF ALL TIME
Truly awesome. The mixture of basically dub-step with metal is inspired.
The cancer ballad was the only weak point in an otherwise pitch perfect production
The Best of the Talking Heads in a fantastic live performance. Was the recording the best? No. But the music was.
Didn't care for the vocals, too middle of the road between strong and pretty. Could really have benefitted from some instrumental variety, the guitar drums and bass always sounded the same. Strong start and finish though
Melancholic atmosphere and ethereal vocals takes you on a transcendental journey
Some great variety keeping a fun throughline
Great production, innovative sound, lackluster voice and ineffective vocal choices
The dark palace track felt out of place, but the rest of the album was atmospherically awesome
Didn't care for the voice, and it felt a little too lowest common denominator, especially in the choruses, but the verses were lyrical and specific enough and the sounds diverse enough to make it a nice album
What an awesome album, so diverse. Feels like REM but more approachable
Turns out my least favorite thing about modern pop is inane lyrics, so when they're in Spanish I love it!
The story telling through both instrument and lyrics are perfect. May not be my favorite vocal style, but immaculate construction
I didn't love the talk song, but it was definitely unique and interesting
Is the point the spite? I get it's an ironic callback, I don't get the enjoyment
Starts off so strong with Aura and then fails to maintain interest.
I don't know if this is better if you understand the lyrics.
Like just the operatic parts of queen, or a slightly more mainstream Of Montreal, a great time all around
Inspiring rock. Awesome punk.
Punk sensibilities. None of these songs rise to the level of The Cattle and the Creeping Things but would definitely listen again
Nice sound, a little homogenous
Such a diverse and awesome sound! From punk rock to prog to mariachi, kept me engaged without understanding a single word
Beautiful varied and evocative
Starts slow but gets there eventually. Not my favorite Vampire Weekend album but much better than I remember from 2013
My second favorite the National Album! Mistaken for Strangers made the fall in love with this band
Punk is best when the singer is sing shouting in a dialect you can barely understand. More please
With the exception of Malone, anything with Post in the the name is awesome. I didn't know Post Punk was a top five genre. Now I do. Thanks Protomartyr.
Maybe it sounds dated with time and exposure, but there is little of this album that feels inspired or original. Paparazzi is still a great song though.
Oh, so this is what no editing sounds like. What a waste of time. The single most interesting piece was the 30 seconds of toilet flushing. This was not music, this was uninspired performance art noise. This album's inclusion in this list was cruel.
the scratching, the flow, the swagger, impeccable.
I suspect I would have hated this in english, but in Belgian it feels fresh and innovative and very cool
I liked this album. I did not expect to want to listen to it 4 times. Turns out I love this album.
postrock-esque. I'm uncertain if it was made better or worse by being incomprehensible. Maybe it was trite, maybe it was profound, and I don't want to open that mystery box to find out lest disappointment strike.
Maybe there was something here, but I didn't find it.
What gorgeous stories. Country is not my thing, but this packs in so much emotion that I cannot deny the mastery.
That was the greatest disco album ever made. Perfection start to finish, perfect polish and still has soul
My second favorite metal band. It goes hard without the drums breaking your skull, the screams shattering your ears, or the guitar melting your face. Truely awesome.
Rap and Jazz is such an obvious combination, I cannot believe we're not doing it way way more. Beautiful.
I never would have expected to enjoy screamo electronica, but this hits right
Does punk really have to be pubescent? It was well performed but I don't get the appeal.
The dutch are funky? The genre hopping was fun, and while it didn't quite rise to the level of Ozomatli, That Handsome Devil, or Funkadelic, that they could give shades of such diverse bands was mind boggling.
I'd loved Your Ex-Lover is Dead for a decade, it's wonderful to find the rest of the album is almost as beautiful and melancholic
This had all the right ingredients and I should have loved it, but it just felt hollow and lifeless.
Is the album any good? Dunno, don't care, I love it.
