While Lightning Bolt comes down barely on the music side of the divide, Boredoms comes down just barely on the noise side of the divide. It's so close to amazing but it's too painful

Awesome sound, I don't know that it's for me, but it's perfect.

Refining the project started by UB40 to sing Ragea about your own experience, Sublime using off beat guitar to croon about the plight of urban poor, and it hits just right. Santeria is a perfect song, and the rest supports it well. 10/10.

While not quite having moment to moment music theory perfection, the psychedelic dream state of profundity and beauty is something really special

Maybe it sounds dated with time and exposure, but there is little of this album that feels inspired or original. Paparazzi is still a great song though.

Oh, so this is what no editing sounds like. What a waste of time. The single most interesting piece was the 30 seconds of toilet flushing. This was not music, this was uninspired performance art noise. This album's inclusion in this list was cruel.

Does punk really have to be pubescent? It was well performed but I don't get the appeal.

The dutch are funky? The genre hopping was fun, and while it didn't quite rise to the level of Ozomatli, That Handsome Devil, or Funkadelic, that they could give shades of such diverse bands was mind boggling.

I'd loved Your Ex-Lover is Dead for a decade, it's wonderful to find the rest of the album is almost as beautiful and melancholic

The album has way more energy and interest than I remembered. Vibrant and fun. Lacks some of the coherency and whimsy from the self titled album, but still very much worth the listen

It started slow and a little country and I didn't think I'd like it, but I cannot stop listening. For listens in and I'm in love with orchestral springstreen. Gorgeous songs, beautiful emotion.

Okay comedy album

I know ever song of the album and I like most of them. Beautiful and occasionally sublime, but largely innoffensive

Much like I only thought Metalica was okay until I heard their live album, I only thought Daft Punk was pretty good until I heard their live album. Blew me away.

Pretty german folk metal, but nothing super interesting

This was good, but doesn't rise to the high of nonogon or king crimson album, still a very fun ride.

I'm not sure why I like Sugar We're Going Down and Dance Dance don't much enjoy any of this. Light 'Em Up in particular lacks teeth. It's fine. The acoustic guitars on Young Volcanoes was a bad choice.

I was starting to get into it, and the onesided phone conversation I couldn't understand a word of killed all musical momentum and took me out. I'm sure it was brilliant, but its also obviously not aimed at me. This is a good thing, there should be music aimed at more niche audiences, more niche music is a good thing, but since I'm the one rating it it has to be my rating.

Riding the edge of discomfort is an awesome place to be fore pop electronica. Joyous, evocative, driving, perfect.

Del the funky Homosapian has my favorite flow+voice of anyone who has ever spit. He may not write my favorite verses with my favorite production, but if anyone was gonna acapella rap, del is who I'd want to hear.

I just can't get past the subpar vocals. Perhaps a better recording technique would have mitigated the feeling of a lack of vocal power, but it feels like it would be epic in the voice of a better singer.

Beautiful and fun

Saw a pretty boy singing the blues and immediately wrote it off. Then he just played and let the best blues singers in the business sing instead. Perfect. Cannot imagine a better blues anthology.

I'm not sure why this works so well, there are many songs on here that I would never choose to listen to, but somehow in context I wouldn't have changed anything. Maybe it's just my feelings about Modest Mouse and their other objectively better songs, but I can't ding this.

The album flows so well

Vampire transcends, but the rest of the album is still a marvelous authentic feeling exploration of being 19 with too much autonomy and making mistakes as a top tier pop album

Club Dance Pop is not my genre, but this is a masterful example with an awesome mix of hedonistic nihilism and real questions about human nature and legacy.

I'm not sure I get the hype. It's competent, but I don't feel like there is much unique. This album didn't flow as well or go as hard as 10000 days

Best guitar album of the decade. Thought it was just good country, then Escanaba made me sit up and listen. Easily my favorite country album ever and the only country album that makes my top 100.

This was delightful, less misogynistic and more musical than other of Doom's work.

This is one of those albums that I feel like I'd need to listen to multiple times and really hone in to get if it's truly awesome. As is I enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away musically.

That was fun, but not particularly memorable

This fills a space between metal and post rock. I don't know who wanted that space filled, I certainly did not. It didn't go hard enough to be background of a fight and didn't really reach for other emotion.

I don't actually know if it's that great musically, all I know is they were in my top five growing up and their lyrics are uniquely painfully evocative and a I love them completely.

Not the purest sound, but some nice melodies

The first track got me excited for a band like arctic monkeys, but the rest of the tracks felt more like middling Last of the Shadow Puppets tracks, which is still good for a listen, but I won't be returning

It blends together. It's not quite all the same song, but it's not far off. However, it goes hard and there is definitely a mood for it.

Loved the first track, they lost me when the steel guitar hit on track 4 and never quite won me back

Profoundly unoriginal. The Praising you call back was fun, but I always found that Fatboy's least interesting song, so with beats I've heard before, melodies I've heard before, chord progressions almost completely absent and vapid lyrics expressing tired ideas there is just nothing here. I spoke too early. Unfeel it has it's hooks in me. ...then the chorus hit and I'm so bored again. Cher walked so Rita could fall flat on her face. Who thought borrowing Eddie Murphie's failed foray into pop for That Girl would be a good idea? It sucked then, it sucks now. Mercifully short. If I was in middle school this would hit so hard, but I've heard everything this has to offer.

I'm not sure why I don't like this as much as Slipknot or Sepultura, it seems like all the ingredients are there, but it just didn't grab me like they do.

I'm surprised this is included instead of Everywhere at the End of Time, but I'm glad for that mercy, I didn't have six hours to spare. If I didn't already know the reputation, I don't know if I would have loved this so much, but as it is I can only give it top marks.

Some very cool things, but I wanted some audio clarity and more instruments by the end.

I was expecting this to be Zach Brown or Luke Bryan. Thank Ra it is not. Masterful storying telling in a soulful voice with guitar mastery that makes me love someone I would hate if I met on the street. Thank you Zach for this glimpse at your life.

Some of it was nice sounds, The first Life Goes On, some of it I didn't care for, like the improv around the American patriotic song motif in Beautiful telephone 3. Will not revisit.

So heavy and so pure. Bleak was awesome. The only spot I lost interest was Harvest, but the first two songs were the strongest.

I'll give it that it's unique earnest and vulnerable. And it certainly wasn't boring. I'm glad it exists, but I can only rate it for myself and not some hypothetical person. I'm in the crowd that finds the voice grating. I'm very much over songs that feel written by a child and never edited.

Almost earns it pretension, very solid rock. I wanted more vocal interest but I enjoyed almost the whole run.

No one else is quite like That Handsome Devil. Rob the Prez-o-dent is a little offputting, but Viva Discordia makes my top 1000 soungs, and the whole thing can be enjoyed repeatedly

Bach, Motzart, Gurrumul. The greatest classical composers of all time. Djarimirri has immediately become my new favorite album. The brass, the movement, the overwhelming emotion, perfection. The first two tracks strike a resonant chord that the rest of the album calmly sustains. I'm in love.

Extremely well executed epic classic rock. Just not my thing anymore.

At the Drive-in are the exception to the rule that tenors make music feel less hard. This hits your in the eardrum and only relents to be unsettling.

About 70% as good as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. Still a great ride.

Fa Fa was so much fun, and though I cringed that I loved the rest of the album, I did.

You had me at Chris Thile. Throw in a master jazz pianist? Yes please.

Struck a Nerve is definitely the highlight with the vocal harmony. Hits just as hard as Infection.

Somehow it feels correct that Canada created by Bare Naked Ladies and Crash Test Dummies. How have I never heard them before? The voice is so perfect, the storytelling so straightforward and relatable. It's not doing anything I've never heard before, but it's doing it so evocatively. Gives me Blues Travelers in the best way.

The vocals felt amateurish, but otherwise it was fine.

I wish I understood the appeal of Depeche Mode. Most of the time I'm just bored.

There was a lot to like here, but nothing was different enough or perfect enough to hook me.

What a phenomenal set of voices and wonderful vibe. Last century beach music as sung by the Strokes. Delightful

Everylong is a top song of all time, and the weirder entries were buoyed by Monkey Wrench and My Hero.
