4/5
fun album, better than joshua tree but not as good as zooropa. consistently good but no stand out tracks. i need to listen more to get a full opinion but for now its a 7/10

Thin Lizzy
3/5
never heard of this guy and i wish it stayed that way. boring and way too long. 5/10

UB40
2/5
extremely boring reggae. i agree with the lyrics but they are written in such a simple way that even those annoy me. also who decided this needed to be over an hour? this shit is as long as blonde on blonde but unlike that album this has no interesting ideas. its inoffensive enough that i can give this a high 4/10 but i really dont think i needed to hear this before i died.

The Mamas & The Papas
4/5
Surprisingly pleasant album. Nothing remarkable but enjoyable throughout. Decent 7
Yes
4/5
nice album, more approachable and a bit more enjoyable than close to the edge for me. tracks 3 and 4 are the clear highlights. the clap and a venture couldve been great if they developed more but as of now they are a bit disappointing. 7/10
DJ Shadow
4/5
ive tried listening to this a few times in the past and always stopped a few tracks in because i didnt think it was very interesting and i dont care how they made it. im not an instrumental hip hop fan but i actually really enjoyed it as background noise this listen. i can see myself coming back to this. im really not sure what to rate this but i enjoyed it enough to give it a 7
David Bowie
4/5
i love bowie but i never got around to listening to this album in full. drive in saturday is amazing and i loved the prettiest star too. the rest is really good but i dont see myself coming back to this much when low and ziggy exist. it is probably the best album ive gotten from here so far but i cant give it more than a strong 7.
Aretha Franklin
3/5
theres the occasional good track but overall very boring. i recognize she has a great voice but her compositions dont interest me and i dont like her voice enough to be entertained. a change is gonna come is the best song here but it is significantly worse than sam cooke's version. very mediocre. 5/10
Radiohead
4/5
heard this album a few times before and gave it a 7/10. on relisten its honestly a really interesting album. maybe not as cohesive as kid a but better than i remembered. 8/10
Gorillaz
3/5
pretty boring. halfway through i was thinking it was either 4/10 or 5/10 but the second half was a lot more enjoyable to me. idk if the songs improved or if i just got more in the mood for mediocre trip hop as the album went on. still nothing amazing but it bumped it to a low 6/10.
U2
4/5
fun album, better than joshua tree but not as good as zooropa. consistently good but no stand out tracks. i need to listen more to get a full opinion but for now its a 7/10
Deep Purple
4/5
i can see how this was influential but it isnt that great to me. into the fire is my favorite track and living wreck was good too. 7/10
Guided By Voices
4/5
super charming but each song fails to create its own identity. i think i just need to listen to it more but i love it already. 8/10
Foo Fighters
4/5
better than i was expecting, very low 7/10
Janis Joplin
3/5
first album and artist that ive never heard of on here but i recognized mercedes benz (not a fan of that song). i guess the albums cool but its not my style. me and bobby mcgee, trust me, and get it while you can are my favorite tracks. maybe in a while ill enjoy it more but for now its getting a very light 6/10
The Beach Boys
4/5
heard this album a ton already. super pretty and enjoyable album. ignoring the obvious choices, dont talk is my favorite song. i dont find myself putting this on very often though. 8/10
Crowded House
4/5
mid. four seasons in a day and fall at your feet and chocolate cake and there goes god are chill, rest is decent but boring. low 7/10
Talk Talk
4/5
really nice album but maybe a bit less interesting than their later works. no real highlights or lowlights, whole album was enjoyable. strong 7/10
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
not very interesting. modern romance was my favorite track. 6/10
Dwight Yoakam
3/5
its fine i guess. its honestly pretty good but i got sick of it after about three songs. if it was 10 minutes id enjoy it a lot more. id rather just listen to nashville skyline or sweetheart of the rodeo. 6/10
Don McLean
4/5
so much better than i was expecting. strong 7/10
Thin Lizzy
3/5
never heard of this guy and i wish it stayed that way. boring and way too long. 5/10
Can
3/5
its like detailed elevator music. unfortunately i dont like elevator music. i prefer tago mago but i didnt enjoy that one much either. i think im too stupid for this because i just find it boring. very low 6/10
Songhoy Blues
4/5
its groovy and i was liking it a lot at the start but uh every song sounds identical i got kinda sick of it half way in so it went from an 8/10 to a low 7/10
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
sounds like it was recorded with a 3ds but outside of that its great. 8/10
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
i love ccr but i prefer cosmos factory. still an amazing album. my favorite album ive got on here so far, strong 8/10
Emmylou Harris
3/5
boring. low 6/10
Frank Sinatra
2/5
incredibly boring and repetitive. the songs arent bad and his voice is good but i was struggling after the second song. i cant comprehend why they decided to make this 50 minutes. strong 4/10
Deep Purple
3/5
not much to say, its decent rock and too long. strong 6/10
John Grant
4/5
nice album, reminds me a bit of what i enjoy from jeff rosenstock. pretty unique, 7/10
The Crusaders
4/5
its good for what it is, nothing remarkable. low 7/10
Cocteau Twins
4/5
already sorta familiar with this record. lorelei and pandora are the clear stand out tracks here but most songs are solid enough. 7/10
Garbage
4/5
pretty catchy, supervixen is my favorite track. 7/10
Radiohead
5/5
absolutely incredible album deserving of its praise. strong 9/10
Queens of the Stone Age
3/5
maybe the worst album cover i have ever seen. also the music is boring. 6/10
Derek & The Dominos
4/5
nice album, bell bottom blues is my favorite track. production is a little wonky but still sounds nice. 7/10
The 13th Floor Elevators
4/5
i like this a lot. reminds me a lot of jefferson airplane. id probably prefer just listen to the stuff it inspired but ill definitely come back to this. strong 7/10
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
4/5
fun album, first two tracks were my favorite. strong 7/10
The Triffids
3/5
pretty middle of the road pop rock, nothing here is bad but my enjoyment isnt very high either. 6/10
R.E.M.
4/5
ive listened to rem a lot because i feel like i should enjoy them more than i do. its not the first time ive listened to this record but one i got around catapult i started to enjoy it a lot more and it bumped it up to a comfortable 8/10. great record and ill try some other rem albums again.
Pulp
4/5
this is a great album, i like different class quite a bit but this is better. 8/10
The Chemical Brothers
3/5
this sounds cool, especially the closer, but it drags on far too long imo. if i wasnt an impatient zoomer this would be like a 9/10 but my tiktok brain can only give this a 6/10
Black Sabbath
4/5
im not the biggest black sabbath fan. decent record but i much prefer sabbath bloody sabbath and paranoid. low 7/10
The Fall
3/5
its decent but nothing that interesting. im not sure why they recommended this one instead of the many other more respected fall records. 6/10
Pixies
4/5
ive listened to this record a lot already, its great but im surprised its as respected as it is. 8/10
The Cramps
4/5
i like the cramps but man 40 minutes of them is a bit much and nothing on here is as good as whats on gravest hits. still good though. 7/10
Willie Nelson
4/5
ive been listening to a lot of country the last few days so this album came a a great time. i really like the songs but its almost too subtle at points for me. im sure this will grow on me a lot over time but for now it gets a 7/10
Blur
4/5
its decent, im just not the biggest britpop fan. 7/10
UB40
2/5
extremely boring reggae. i agree with the lyrics but they are written in such a simple way that even those annoy me. also who decided this needed to be over an hour? this shit is as long as blonde on blonde but unlike that album this has no interesting ideas. its inoffensive enough that i can give this a high 4/10 but i really dont think i needed to hear this before i died.
Sex Pistols
4/5
its a decent album but far from my favorite punk album. nothing particularly notable about it, even for its time it doesnt seem that impressive. low 7/10
Taylor Swift
3/5
theres a few nice songs here like shake it off and wildest dreams but the trash like bad blood and how you get the girl along with the mediocrity like i know places drag this down to a 5/10. still a bit better than i was expecting though
My Bloody Valentine
4/5
ive already heard this album a few times but man it grows on me more and more with each listen. their usage of noise and melody is exactly what i love, reminds me a bit of psychocandy. its slightly worse than loveless but better than mbv. very strong 8/10 that might be raised to a 9/10. also seeing the bad rating this album has on this site has made me decide to ignore the ratings here from now on because wtf how is this a 2.73
Public Image Ltd.
4/5
i tried listening to this album a year or two ago and gave up three songs in because it was so obnoxious. now im a pretentious music nerd so i love this. i think people overstate how unlistenable this is, the bass is so groovy it kind of allows the other aspects to be noisy in an enjoyable sense. my favorite song was probably poptones but every song rules honestly. 8/10
Dire Straits
4/5
while ive heard of dire straits before ive never bothered to check them out. im feeling really stupid for that now because this is great. 8/10
Beatles
4/5
i love the beatles but that love doesnt really start until rubber soul. these songs are charming but none of them stand out and theyre pretty simple. its enjoyable and 30 minutes is a good runtime but i dont listen to this very often. this and help are still leagues ahead of every other early beatles record. 7/10
Wire
5/5
i love wire, i think their first three albums are all amazing but this one easily stands as the best imo. its really fun to listen to and its so eclectic it never gets boring. strange is probably my favorite track but there isnt a single low point on the entire album. 9/10
Metallica
3/5
i dont like this very much but lulu is my favorite metallica album so maybe my opinion is invalid. 6/10
Tim Buckley
4/5
my second favorite tim buckley album. im surprised by the bad rating this has here because i find it to be a stunning album. not as experimental as starsailor but much more listenable. 8/10
John Coltrane
4/5
pretty cool but im too stupid to really appreciate jazz. strong 7/10
John Cale
4/5
despite the velvet underground being my favorite band of all time and me absolutely loving lou's solo works, i dont feel the same love for cale. this is a pretty good album but i struggle to see what makes it a masterpiece in some peoples eyes. no weak tracks and no great tracks. 7/10
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
one of my favorite rap albums and thats thanks to the beats. the songs are all so short that the beats never get boring and every one is unique and groovy. 8/10
The Youngbloods
3/5
mediocre, nothing very interesting here but its all fine i guess. low 6/10
Big Star
4/5
nice album but maybe a bit inconsistent. 7/10
Solomon Burke
3/5
very boring but not exactly bad in any way. the most redeeming quality is its short length, if it was any longer it would drop to a 4/10 but with it being pretty short it just squeezes into being a 5/10
Billy Bragg
4/5
idk who billy bragg is and im not the biggest fan of yankee hotel foxtrot so i was pleasantly surprised by this album. its inconsistent but cozy and the peaks are great. 7/10
Calexico
4/5
pretty diverse record. also not super consistent. low 7/10
Janelle Monáe
3/5
i know im not the biggest pop fan but fuck man this is so boring. it sounds cool and all but that doesnt make me enjoy it much. gets a low 5/10 because its produced so well and the ideas are interesting.
Portishead
4/5
im always a little surprised by this albums critical acclaim. its enjoyable but it sounds a bit too 90s to be amazing to me. slow dreary trip hop gets a bit dull after a bit but this is considered one of the best for a reason, it doesnt really get boring throughout. 7/10
Richard Thompson
4/5
charming record, feels like im walking through a medieval town that has modern instrumentation. 7/10
Beastie Boys
4/5
definitely not their best album but it is still very fun. 7/10
Stevie Wonder
4/5
im not the biggest soul fan and i dont like stevie as much as i do gaye and some other big soul artists but this is better than songs in the key of life and living for the city is great so it gets a 7/10.
Heaven 17
3/5
there are some very interesting ideas here but overall i dont think it achieves what it wanted. it feels like an inferior remain in light. ill be returning to this but it only gets a 6/10 for now
Air
3/5
decent music but i dont care to listen to an instrumental movie soundtrack from a band ive never heard of. i loved playground love though. high 6/10
Incubus
3/5
boring ass rock. nothing exactly wrong with it but i dont the vocals or songwriting much at all. very low 6/10
Tracy Chapman
3/5
i got downvoted on reddit one time for saying i didnt like fast car so now i hold a grudge against this album. 5/10
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
very challenging record. as someone who really enjoys slow difficult listens like lulu i find this to be charming but i need to listen more to really understand it. im more of a rock fan so the repetitive ambient pop style here gets boring at points which i dont hold against the record as thats more my fault. strong 6/10 for now, will probably go up in the future.
Tom Waits
4/5
i really wanna like tom waits more but i just cant figure him out. his debut is great and i love experimental music but when it comes to his later stuff its just too much. still interesting, just not something i care to come back to. i did like i dont wanna grow up and that feel a lot and ill probably make myself listen to this again some time but its only getting a low 7/10 for now
5/5
im not the worlds biggest kinks fan or anything but if they had more music like this i would be. the songs are so fun and the lyrics are so not fun but well written. havent been able to find anything else similar to this, its really one of a kind. 9/10
American Music Club
3/5
this is almost really good. the music is almost interesting enough and i almost really like his voice but everything sounds slightly off. i will definitely return to this (would be a lot more interested in doing so if i didnt have to listen to this on bandcamp) as it feels a lot like something id enjoy but with it being a bit too slow for my liking it only gets a strong 6/10.
Tom Waits
4/5
i suppose i like this a bit more than his more experimental later records but it doesnt beat closing time. my favorite tracks were the most blues focused ones like the title track, downtown, and mr siegal. they remind me a bit of time out of mind which i enjoy much more than this record. low 7/10
Deerhunter
4/5
first song was the best by far. rest sounds like a generic indie album. not bad but im not returning to this. very low 7/10
Stevie Wonder
3/5
im just not a stevie wonder fan. im a zoomer so im not sure i could ever really love a triple album but i especially cant love a soul triple album. innervisions is better purely because its an hour shorter. theres a lot of cool stuff here but hes gotta cut out the majority of the album to make me enjoy it. low 6/10
Leonard Cohen
4/5
i dont like cohen as much as i would like but hearing an 80s version of him is really interesting. his debut is still probably my favorite but this was good too. 7/10
Public Image Ltd.
4/5
not quite as good as metal box but still really groovy and entertaining. so much better than the sex pistols. 8/10
Blur
3/5
getting a bit sick of this mediocre britpop from the 90s. 6/10
The Prodigy
3/5
sounds really cheesy lol 5/10
Joe Ely
3/5
nice little release but a bit too simple for its time. it doesnt feel like it wants to be anything other than basic country which is fine but keeps my enjoyment from being very high. high 6/10
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
4/5
lots of great stuff here, my favorite track was probably today i was an evil one. unfortunately alt country rarely manages to click with me as much as regular folk or country does so this fails to go above a 7/10. also i hate being that guy but this not being on spotify and not making it free to listen to on bandcamp is extremely annoying.
Johnny Cash
3/5
johnny cash's older stuff seems so simple to me i dont understand what makes it so respected. its fun, sure, but every song has the exact same structure and rhythm. 6/10
Muddy Waters
4/5
better than i was expecting for 1960, very repetitive but i can also see how stuff i like from the doors could be influenced by this. low 7/10
KISS
3/5
a lot better than i was expecting. im still not exactly a kiss fan but this was fun. it gets repetitive and cheesy a few times though which keeps this at a high 6/10
The Stone Roses
4/5
always really liked this record, gives me a similar feeling to rem and mbv. outside of i wanna be adored and dont stop im never absolutely amazed by what im hearing which keeps this at a high 8/10.
Kraftwerk
4/5
kraftwerk have always sounded very cool to me but they dont manage to grow past being a novelty. i prefer the silver apples over kraftwerk generally. 7/10
Supertramp
4/5
really wanted to like this more than i did. good overall but felt directionless and boring at points. light 7/10
Mott The Hoople
4/5
sure they sound like bowie ripoffs but theyre pretty enjoyable bowie ripoffs. 7/10
The Kinks
4/5
not as good as arthur as i prefer the heavier and more political focus on that album but this is still super comforting and enjoyable. 8/10
Johnny Cash
4/5
probably the best thing ive heard from johnny cash but that doesnt mean its all that amazing. outside of a few highlights its just boring. 7/10
Astor Piazzolla
3/5
pretty interesting but the length holds it back for me. strong 6/10
Queen
3/5
as someone who doesnt like queen that much this album didnt change that for me. it wasnt bad, in fact i enjoyed certain parts of it, but its overtheatrical nature is too much for me. 6/10
Nightmares On Wax
3/5
decent enough but too long and quite literally nothing interesting happens. reminds me a little of a few persona songs but without the charm. 5/10
Japan
3/5
first two songs were quite nice, after that nothing remarkable happens. strong 6/10
Pink Floyd
4/5
obviously a pretty great album. not as good as animals or wish you were here imo but its pretty easy to see why its considered one of the best. strong 8/10
Elton John
4/5
ive been an elton john hater for a while now, ive heard this album in the past and thought it was kinda ass. ive listened to individual songs since then and none of them did much for me. in listening again i actually really enjoyed it. i can see why the songs didnt do much for me by themselves but together it becomes a really cohesive album. i cant quite give this an 8/10 yet but i will give it a strong 7/10 for now and come back to it again soon.
Patti Smith
3/5
i like her energy and her style is certainly unique but unfortunately i think her songwriting is mediocre. 6/10
The Band
4/5
pretty repetitive but decently enjoyable. low 7/10
Neil Young
4/5
probably my favorite neil young album. whenever i hear this album it makes me wanna check out other stuff from him then im disappointed it doesnt sound more like this. strong 8/10
Kanye West
3/5
never been the biggest kanye fan but this is the best thing ive heard from him since its noisier. most of it still bores me though so it gets a 6/10
The Pogues
4/5
very unique and catchy. gets a little old though. 7/10
Iron Maiden
3/5
really not my style. every song sounds the same and while i used to like hallowed be thy name ive burnt out of it now as well. low 5/10
The Go-Go's
3/5
its decent i suppose. not a fan of we got the beat but the album is fine overall. strong 5/10
Hugh Masekela
4/5
maybe a bit long but quite nice jazz overall. 7/10
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
some of the songs here are great (especially mayonaise) but a lot of them are kinda boring to me. 7/10
Talking Heads
5/5
this album was my favorite for a long time and is currently my second favorite. it is seriously incredible to me that this album exists, its so drastically different from anything else ive ever heard. byrne is one of the most interesting musicians ive ever seen and its unfortunate he was never able to make anything else like this. having eno produce this record was huge imo as hes my favorite producer. i often see people criticize the tracks that come after once in a lifetime for being boring which i find absolutely absurd. i believe this album represents a downfall going from the chaotic energy in the start down to the depressing collapse seen in the overload. i view it in a similar way as i do bowie's low (also produced by eno) where the art rock first side and the ambient second side are great by themselves but together create something much greater. also, this album has some of my favorite lyrics ever. to be frank half the time i have no clue what hes talking about but thats whats so cool about it. i can tell hes saying something important but its so cryptic it gives a similar charm to bob dylan's most complex writings. i love repetition in my music and this is the album i credit for creating my love for it. when i first heard this record it felt like a repetitive slob but once i was able to pay attention to the minute details changing throughout the songs you can see what makes this so distinct. this is done in a similar way to aphex twin's debut but imo this album is much more dense than that one could ever be. i would like to note at the end of these ramblings that no one is going to read that i find once in a lifetime to be the worst song here (still great ofc). i see a lot of people dismiss the album outside of that track but i want to highlight how much more there is to try to understand here. try to get lost into the slow grooves following that track and try to follow what the lyrics are attempting to say. otherwise you are missing out on an incredible experience. 10/10
Bob Dylan
4/5
one of my favorite bob dylan albums but not quite on the level as his mid 60s output. i absolutely love the mood this album evokes but it gets a little repetitive with it being over an hour without much changing throughout. strong 8/10
George Jones
4/5
pleasant simple country album. its no john prine or sweetheart of the rodeo but it aint bad. 7/10
Siouxsie And The Banshees
4/5
really unique album, i love the melodies and jangly guitars as well as her voice. light 8/10
Earth, Wind & Fire
3/5
nothing here really held my attention. none of it was groovy or catchy enough and the production aint all that good. 5/10
Christina Aguilera
1/5
extremely unpleasant listen and the worst album ive sat through in my entire life. the production isnt bad and shes a decent vocalist but all of these songs suck. the bluesy songs are so much worse than the blues i enjoy that they actively make me angry to listen to. also candyman is absolutely terrible and nasty naughty boy is disgusting. this would have earned a low 3/10 (which would already be the lowest score ive ever given out) but since its a double album i decided to drop it down to a 2/10. horrendous
The War On Drugs
4/5
a bit simple for my liking. i do enjoy the mood though. low 7/10
The Velvet Underground
5/5
this is only my third favorite velvet underground album but since theyre my favorite band of all time that doesnt mean much. candy says is the best song here but everything is pretty amazing. 9/10
Joan Baez
4/5
surprised i havent heard of her before because this is great. i love her voice and her influence is obvious. 8/10
Ice Cube
4/5
pretty classic sounding rap. im not well versed in rap so i dont have much to say, i enjoyed it. 7/10
The Verve
4/5
much better than i was expecting and some of the best britpop ive ever heard. that doesnt mean much though. 7/10
Coldplay
4/5
its like radiohead but less interesting. better than i was expecting though. 7/10
3/5
very mid. 5/10
Coldcut
3/5
not much to say. im not very into house and this is a very simple early version of it. 5/10
Joni Mitchell
4/5
ive never been the biggest joni mitchell fan unfortunately. this is enjoyable but doesnt blow me away. 7/10
Little Simz
4/5
my issue with conscious hip hop like this is that it can feel cheesy at points and i feel that consistently throughout this record. its good overall though. 101 fm in particular is very interesting. 7/10
Tim Buckley
4/5
this album is strange to me. for fans of buckley like myself its not as interesting as his early works and for people who dont like him its still too weird for them. its not bad but it isnt a favorite of mine like most of his other stuff. 7/10
Cocteau Twins
4/5
pretty odd album, very dreamlike. 8/10
Kanye West
4/5
this was a bit better than i was expecting. ive always found kanye to be pretty mid and this didnt really change that but some of the humor was actually pretty funny and theres some unique beats on here. 7/10
Elvis Presley
4/5
i enjoyed this more than i wanted to. its boringly simple and a blatant ripoff but its also pretty fun. low 7/10
Eminem
2/5
just an unpleasant album. the humor completely misses because im not 12 and imagining a 27 year old man writing this is sad. 3/10
The Killers
4/5
was expecting this to be annoyingly mainstream and too focused on being catchy. i wasnt exactly wrong but i gotta admit that its pretty fun. 7/10
Fleetwood Mac
4/5
never liked fleetwood mac much but this was great. im not sure what exactly was so different about this album that i liked more than rumours but this is the kind of stuff i use this site for. 8/10
Spiritualized
4/5
really beautiful and groovy record, been a favorite of mine for a while. easily the best space rock ive ever found. 8/10
3/5
its like a modern pop rock version of patti smith. im not the biggest fan of patti smith though. this mess we're in and we float were nice but outside of those this record was pretty mediocre. 6/10
David Bowie
4/5
love me some bowie and i havent heard this one before. obviously not anywhere near his classics but its enjoyable. 7/10
The Clash
4/5
great album and i enjoy every song but the peaks are so high that the other songs become less impressive. strong 8/10
The Rolling Stones
4/5
decent album by a decent band. nothing here is outstanding but its reasonably enjoyable throughout. 7/10
The Flaming Lips
4/5
ive been trying to get into the flaming lips for a while now without all that much success. id rather be listening to animal collective's more experimental sound if i wanted to hear psych pop like this. do you realize is obviously incredible but outside of that the album feels inconsistent. 7/10
Rocket From The Crypt
3/5
its not exactly bad but there isnt anything that great here that hasnt been done better elsewhere. i never see myself returning to this. 5/10
Peter Gabriel
4/5
this is the only peter gabriel album ive heard in the past and i think its really solid. i really dig the atmosphere and whatnot but i wish he pushed things to be a bit more experimental. theres a lot of memorable stuff on here even without that though. strong 7/10
Ryan Adams
3/5
if this was 40 minutes it would be 6/10 but being a mediocre double album drops it to a 5/10. none of the music here feels unique.
Radiohead
5/5
beautiful album, this and kid a are tied as my favorite radiohead album. i wish faust arp and videotape werent on the album because, while they arent bad, they arent on the same level as the rest of the songs here. 9/10
The Birthday Party
4/5
i like this more than prayers on fire but 81-82 is so amazing that this album feels obsolete. this is obviously still really cool but i dont listen to it half as much as i do 81-82. 7/10
Beck
4/5
as someone who doesnt like loser i wasnt looking forward to this much but i enjoyed it a decent amount. it was definitely more experimental than i was expecting but there are more samples than i care for. 7/10
George Harrison
4/5
this album is beautiful and easily my favorite post beatles solo album but its just so damn long that i never come back to it. 7/10
Killing Joke
4/5
cool dark post punk. right up my alley. unfortunately nothing is as amazing as requiem on here but its still really solid. 8/10
Arcade Fire
3/5
ive always thought arcade fire were a bit overrated and this doesnt change that. the compositions arent bad and perhaps for their time they were more interesting but nowadays this is just inferior bcnr. 6/10
The Velvet Underground
5/5
here we are!! my favorite album of all time! very creative choice, i know. but how could it not be? heroin and sunday morning used to be my favorite songs of all time, im waiting for the man is currently my favorite song of all time, and the rest of the tracklist is absolutely stellar. find me something that sounds anything like venus in furs. the appeal of this album for me is not only how amazing each song is but how eclectic the tracklist is. constantly jumping from pretty pop songs to noisy rockers doesnt sound like a great idea but it is executed amazingly here. the most common critique i see of this album is that european son is weak and that sister ray is a better version of it. i believe this dismissal of the song fails to appreciate it for what it is. it doesnt try to be the same chaos that sister ray is. it does, however, have the same appeal to me. you can tell the band is having a hell of a time just fucking around trying to be as stupid as possible. if that isnt something you enjoy i get it but i cant think of a better way to end this album. anyhow i could go on for a while longer but nothing i say will be new so ill just end it here. 10/10
