Surprisingly pleasant album. Nothing remarkable but enjoyable throughout. Decent 7

nice album, more approachable and a bit more enjoyable than close to the edge for me. tracks 3 and 4 are the clear highlights. the clap and a venture couldve been great if they developed more but as of now they are a bit disappointing. 7/10

ive tried listening to this a few times in the past and always stopped a few tracks in because i didnt think it was very interesting and i dont care how they made it. im not an instrumental hip hop fan but i actually really enjoyed it as background noise this listen. i can see myself coming back to this. im really not sure what to rate this but i enjoyed it enough to give it a 7

i love bowie but i never got around to listening to this album in full. drive in saturday is amazing and i loved the prettiest star too. the rest is really good but i dont see myself coming back to this much when low and ziggy exist. it is probably the best album ive gotten from here so far but i cant give it more than a strong 7.

theres the occasional good track but overall very boring. i recognize she has a great voice but her compositions dont interest me and i dont like her voice enough to be entertained. a change is gonna come is the best song here but it is significantly worse than sam cooke's version. very mediocre. 5/10

heard this album a few times before and gave it a 7/10. on relisten its honestly a really interesting album. maybe not as cohesive as kid a but better than i remembered. 8/10

pretty boring. halfway through i was thinking it was either 4/10 or 5/10 but the second half was a lot more enjoyable to me. idk if the songs improved or if i just got more in the mood for mediocre trip hop as the album went on. still nothing amazing but it bumped it to a low 6/10.

fun album, better than joshua tree but not as good as zooropa. consistently good but no stand out tracks. i need to listen more to get a full opinion but for now its a 7/10

i can see how this was influential but it isnt that great to me. into the fire is my favorite track and living wreck was good too. 7/10

heard this album a ton already. super pretty and enjoyable album. ignoring the obvious choices, dont talk is my favorite song. i dont find myself putting this on very often though. 8/10

ive listened to rem a lot because i feel like i should enjoy them more than i do. its not the first time ive listened to this record but one i got around catapult i started to enjoy it a lot more and it bumped it up to a comfortable 8/10. great record and ill try some other rem albums again.

ive been listening to a lot of country the last few days so this album came a a great time. i really like the songs but its almost too subtle at points for me. im sure this will grow on me a lot over time but for now it gets a 7/10

extremely boring reggae. i agree with the lyrics but they are written in such a simple way that even those annoy me. also who decided this needed to be over an hour? this shit is as long as blonde on blonde but unlike that album this has no interesting ideas. its inoffensive enough that i can give this a high 4/10 but i really dont think i needed to hear this before i died.

its a decent album but far from my favorite punk album. nothing particularly notable about it, even for its time it doesnt seem that impressive. low 7/10

theres a few nice songs here like shake it off and wildest dreams but the trash like bad blood and how you get the girl along with the mediocrity like i know places drag this down to a 5/10. still a bit better than i was expecting though

ive already heard this album a few times but man it grows on me more and more with each listen. their usage of noise and melody is exactly what i love, reminds me a bit of psychocandy. its slightly worse than loveless but better than mbv. very strong 8/10 that might be raised to a 9/10. also seeing the bad rating this album has on this site has made me decide to ignore the ratings here from now on because wtf how is this a 2.73

i tried listening to this album a year or two ago and gave up three songs in because it was so obnoxious. now im a pretentious music nerd so i love this. i think people overstate how unlistenable this is, the bass is so groovy it kind of allows the other aspects to be noisy in an enjoyable sense. my favorite song was probably poptones but every song rules honestly. 8/10

while ive heard of dire straits before ive never bothered to check them out. im feeling really stupid for that now because this is great. 8/10

i love the beatles but that love doesnt really start until rubber soul. these songs are charming but none of them stand out and theyre pretty simple. its enjoyable and 30 minutes is a good runtime but i dont listen to this very often. this and help are still leagues ahead of every other early beatles record. 7/10

i love wire, i think their first three albums are all amazing but this one easily stands as the best imo. its really fun to listen to and its so eclectic it never gets boring. strange is probably my favorite track but there isnt a single low point on the entire album. 9/10

i dont like this very much but lulu is my favorite metallica album so maybe my opinion is invalid. 6/10

my second favorite tim buckley album. im surprised by the bad rating this has here because i find it to be a stunning album. not as experimental as starsailor but much more listenable. 8/10

despite the velvet underground being my favorite band of all time and me absolutely loving lou's solo works, i dont feel the same love for cale. this is a pretty good album but i struggle to see what makes it a masterpiece in some peoples eyes. no weak tracks and no great tracks. 7/10

one of my favorite rap albums and thats thanks to the beats. the songs are all so short that the beats never get boring and every one is unique and groovy. 8/10

idk who billy bragg is and im not the biggest fan of yankee hotel foxtrot so i was pleasantly surprised by this album. its inconsistent but cozy and the peaks are great. 7/10

im always a little surprised by this albums critical acclaim. its enjoyable but it sounds a bit too 90s to be amazing to me. slow dreary trip hop gets a bit dull after a bit but this is considered one of the best for a reason, it doesnt really get boring throughout. 7/10

im not the biggest soul fan and i dont like stevie as much as i do gaye and some other big soul artists but this is better than songs in the key of life and living for the city is great so it gets a 7/10.

there are some very interesting ideas here but overall i dont think it achieves what it wanted. it feels like an inferior remain in light. ill be returning to this but it only gets a 6/10 for now

very challenging record. as someone who really enjoys slow difficult listens like lulu i find this to be charming but i need to listen more to really understand it. im more of a rock fan so the repetitive ambient pop style here gets boring at points which i dont hold against the record as thats more my fault. strong 6/10 for now, will probably go up in the future.

i really wanna like tom waits more but i just cant figure him out. his debut is great and i love experimental music but when it comes to his later stuff its just too much. still interesting, just not something i care to come back to. i did like i dont wanna grow up and that feel a lot and ill probably make myself listen to this again some time but its only getting a low 7/10 for now

im not the worlds biggest kinks fan or anything but if they had more music like this i would be. the songs are so fun and the lyrics are so not fun but well written. havent been able to find anything else similar to this, its really one of a kind. 9/10

this is almost really good. the music is almost interesting enough and i almost really like his voice but everything sounds slightly off. i will definitely return to this (would be a lot more interested in doing so if i didnt have to listen to this on bandcamp) as it feels a lot like something id enjoy but with it being a bit too slow for my liking it only gets a strong 6/10.

i suppose i like this a bit more than his more experimental later records but it doesnt beat closing time. my favorite tracks were the most blues focused ones like the title track, downtown, and mr siegal. they remind me a bit of time out of mind which i enjoy much more than this record. low 7/10

im just not a stevie wonder fan. im a zoomer so im not sure i could ever really love a triple album but i especially cant love a soul triple album. innervisions is better purely because its an hour shorter. theres a lot of cool stuff here but hes gotta cut out the majority of the album to make me enjoy it. low 6/10

i dont like cohen as much as i would like but hearing an 80s version of him is really interesting. his debut is still probably my favorite but this was good too. 7/10

lots of great stuff here, my favorite track was probably today i was an evil one. unfortunately alt country rarely manages to click with me as much as regular folk or country does so this fails to go above a 7/10. also i hate being that guy but this not being on spotify and not making it free to listen to on bandcamp is extremely annoying.

johnny cash's older stuff seems so simple to me i dont understand what makes it so respected. its fun, sure, but every song has the exact same structure and rhythm. 6/10

kraftwerk have always sounded very cool to me but they dont manage to grow past being a novelty. i prefer the silver apples over kraftwerk generally. 7/10

ive been an elton john hater for a while now, ive heard this album in the past and thought it was kinda ass. ive listened to individual songs since then and none of them did much for me. in listening again i actually really enjoyed it. i can see why the songs didnt do much for me by themselves but together it becomes a really cohesive album. i cant quite give this an 8/10 yet but i will give it a strong 7/10 for now and come back to it again soon.

i like her energy and her style is certainly unique but unfortunately i think her songwriting is mediocre. 6/10

this album was my favorite for a long time and is currently my second favorite. it is seriously incredible to me that this album exists, its so drastically different from anything else ive ever heard. byrne is one of the most interesting musicians ive ever seen and its unfortunate he was never able to make anything else like this. having eno produce this record was huge imo as hes my favorite producer. i often see people criticize the tracks that come after once in a lifetime for being boring which i find absolutely absurd. i believe this album represents a downfall going from the chaotic energy in the start down to the depressing collapse seen in the overload. i view it in a similar way as i do bowie's low (also produced by eno) where the art rock first side and the ambient second side are great by themselves but together create something much greater. also, this album has some of my favorite lyrics ever. to be frank half the time i have no clue what hes talking about but thats whats so cool about it. i can tell hes saying something important but its so cryptic it gives a similar charm to bob dylan's most complex writings. i love repetition in my music and this is the album i credit for creating my love for it. when i first heard this record it felt like a repetitive slob but once i was able to pay attention to the minute details changing throughout the songs you can see what makes this so distinct. this is done in a similar way to aphex twin's debut but imo this album is much more dense than that one could ever be. i would like to note at the end of these ramblings that no one is going to read that i find once in a lifetime to be the worst song here (still great ofc). i see a lot of people dismiss the album outside of that track but i want to highlight how much more there is to try to understand here. try to get lost into the slow grooves following that track and try to follow what the lyrics are attempting to say. otherwise you are missing out on an incredible experience. 10/10

one of my favorite bob dylan albums but not quite on the level as his mid 60s output. i absolutely love the mood this album evokes but it gets a little repetitive with it being over an hour without much changing throughout. strong 8/10

extremely unpleasant listen and the worst album ive sat through in my entire life. the production isnt bad and shes a decent vocalist but all of these songs suck. the bluesy songs are so much worse than the blues i enjoy that they actively make me angry to listen to. also candyman is absolutely terrible and nasty naughty boy is disgusting. this would have earned a low 3/10 (which would already be the lowest score ive ever given out) but since its a double album i decided to drop it down to a 2/10. horrendous

this is only my third favorite velvet underground album but since theyre my favorite band of all time that doesnt mean much. candy says is the best song here but everything is pretty amazing. 9/10

my issue with conscious hip hop like this is that it can feel cheesy at points and i feel that consistently throughout this record. its good overall though. 101 fm in particular is very interesting. 7/10

this album is strange to me. for fans of buckley like myself its not as interesting as his early works and for people who dont like him its still too weird for them. its not bad but it isnt a favorite of mine like most of his other stuff. 7/10

beautiful album, this and kid a are tied as my favorite radiohead album. i wish faust arp and videotape werent on the album because, while they arent bad, they arent on the same level as the rest of the songs here. 9/10

i like this more than prayers on fire but 81-82 is so amazing that this album feels obsolete. this is obviously still really cool but i dont listen to it half as much as i do 81-82. 7/10

here we are!! my favorite album of all time! very creative choice, i know. but how could it not be? heroin and sunday morning used to be my favorite songs of all time, im waiting for the man is currently my favorite song of all time, and the rest of the tracklist is absolutely stellar. find me something that sounds anything like venus in furs. the appeal of this album for me is not only how amazing each song is but how eclectic the tracklist is. constantly jumping from pretty pop songs to noisy rockers doesnt sound like a great idea but it is executed amazingly here. the most common critique i see of this album is that european son is weak and that sister ray is a better version of it. i believe this dismissal of the song fails to appreciate it for what it is. it doesnt try to be the same chaos that sister ray is. it does, however, have the same appeal to me. you can tell the band is having a hell of a time just fucking around trying to be as stupid as possible. if that isnt something you enjoy i get it but i cant think of a better way to end this album. anyhow i could go on for a while longer but nothing i say will be new so ill just end it here. 10/10
