1001 Albums Summary

Really just Under the Bridge...

One of my personal favorites...

A little dated, hasn't held up amazingly well. Musically repetitive, but falling closer to the side of thematic rather than tedious. Relatively light once you get past Big Iron.

Short, nothing amazing today, but revolutionary at the time.

You know what, these guys might be pretty good...

My favorite thing about Spotify's AI-fueled DJ-X was that it will start off with something like: "Yo it's DJ-X, I see you listening to some Kendrick Lamar and Warren Zevon*, but Ima stretch your boundaries, maybe play a little something by bands you haven't heard before. Let's kick it off with the Beatles." I've heard of them X, maybe once or twice. *mispronounced as Zeh-von, instead of Zee-von, but I digress.

Ms. Robinson and Hazy Shade of Winter at the very end. Experimental in the safest way possible, trying something, but only tentatively.

An all-timer.

Timeless album, would be critically acclaimed and commercially successful if released in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 10s, or 20s. Enduring legacy that is still popularly used today. All that being said, the second half of the album drops off significantly, before petering out.

Some albums really shouldn't be made. I had never heard of it before, but in reading the background it seems exploitative at best. As an album it is disjointed and weak. Not sure how it even made it to such a list, but... here we are.

First half: heavy; second half - cools considerably. Still a great, it's plainly obvious on even the most cursory of listens why it launched lifelong careers.

Right in my wheelhouse, classic album from a pivotal period in my life.

Not my cup of tea, but at least it's several hours long... Fortunately, I was able to get the "expanded" edition, which has a whole additional volume featuring sliiiightly different variations of the same f'n song back-to-back-to-back. It's great... But I listened, so who's really the fool?

An underappreciated album from an underappreciated genre during an underappreciated time in music.

You know, many of these last few items I may have been too gracious with; as I've forgotten them almost immediately after listening.

I guess a 2, pretty forgettable in all.

It's funny, because I was just listening to this apropos of nothing. So obviously I think it's a pretty good one 4 or 5 out of 5.

Nothing wrong with a little Haircut 100 every now and then. 3/5

Yeah, pretty good. Unfortunately I got it on a Friday and it's not really Friday music. This is more of a Tuesday or a Wednesday album; Thursday if you're demented. But it's good. 3.5/5. Maybe a 4 if your generous, more than likely a 3... Tough call all around.

A great one 4.5/5, tough choice between the 4 or the 5...

I don't know what I would point to if I went any lower than 5 stars.
