Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Apr 16 2025

1/1001 First time listening to Jimi Hendrix out of my own accord and it's not my thing at all. The guitar solos are nice I guess. I thought the lyrics were a little creepy, but this album is 30 years older than me, so I can't judge it by today's standards. It felt like it went on forever, most of it just sounded like disguised jam sessions to me. Also realized I don't have the time for 15 min songs in my life, I get bored to quickly.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Apr 17 2025

2/1001 It's okay overall. I don't like how whiny the singer is. Immigrant song was a great start (and the only track I kind of liked), unfortunately the rest of the album isn't as good.

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Apr 18 2025

Jazz isn't really my thing. It worked great as background music for me while I did housework, but I wouldn't listen to it outside of it.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Apr 19 2025

I wish the singer didn't sound like that, I'd like the music fine if it wasn't for that guy. It's fine in some songs, like in "Today", "Soma" and "Geek U.S.A" and absolutely ruins some songs like "Disarm". Also "Silverfuck" feels like three songs smushed together? I really enjoyed the guitar work in this though!

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 20 2025

A totally fine and average album, but I thought it was really boring. Maybe it was novel and influential for its time, I don't really know, but it feels like I've listened to songs like these for a million times. I listened to it twice too and I don't remember a single song. I guess I'd be fine with it as background music, so it gets a 3.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Apr 21 2025

I don't know much about jazz or jazz fusion, but this sounded pretty different from what I expected for that genre, in a good way though! I like it, this is the first time jazz "clicked" for me. I liked the first track better than the second, because the second one fizzled out a little to early for me, but overall enjoyable!

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Apr 22 2025

The music itself is alright I suppose, but the terrible misogynistic lyrics really bring this one down. I hated "Stupid Girl" and "Under my Thumb" the most. The only reason I give this one a 2 instead of a 1 is because I liked "Paint it Black".

Femi Kuti by Femi Kuti
Apr 23 2025

This was my first time listening to music like this, I really enjoyed it!

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Apr 24 2025

Hated this one. It's not my type of music and it was really long too, I couldn't even tolerate it as background music. At some points it sounded like the vocalists were just having fun at karaoke since they were so out of tune. The last portion of the album (the live recordings) also wasn't available anywhere, but I don't think listening to that would've improved my rating. I have to acknowledge that they do some interesting stuff with their instruments though. Also while there is a lot of songs, they didn't sound too samey. Their slower songs in particular sounded interesting!

Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
Apr 25 2025

I really enjoyed it! The vocal layering in combination with the synths stood out to me the most and the album cover is really cool too! The track order is perfect, the songs all flowed into each other nicely. I think this album would be a good start for someone looking to get into experimental music since it's not as "out there" as some other albums in the same genre.

Apr 26 2025

This is the first album I got that I couldn't make it through. I don't mind the acoustic guitar with the singing that much, I just think that kind of music is boring, but I couldn't tolerate the harmonica.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Apr 27 2025

I liked it a lot! Fun to listen to and I thought the space setting was pretty unique. Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication was my favorite track.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Apr 28 2025

First Album I got that I actually knew beforehand! My favorite track is He's the Greatest Dancer, We Are Family is my least favorite, but only because it's so overplayed. I don't care for the remixes much either, but other than that this album is great!

Apr 29 2025

Painfully mid. It's not good, but not as bad as I thought it'd be, I just feel like it doesn't take any risks at all. It's not nearly as bad as their later albums at least, the lyrics were the most interesting about it.

Dust by Screaming Trees

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
May 01 2025

I found it really boring, but the album is fine for what it is. I expected something different just looking at the cover art.

Tragic Songs of Life by The Louvin Brothers
May 02 2025

The music itself was fine even if it wasn't my thing and the harmonies were nice, but I could've done without the religious lyrics.

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
May 04 2025

This is one of my dad's favorite albums and after listening to it I get why he likes it, even though I don't enjoy her voice all that much. It's a tad too long for me too.
