1. Drive My Car:
Ballsy riff to start an album with. Paul sounds so good on this—I like when he's more soulful and less pouty. perfect. sexual? Love the 3-part harmonies on the end of the verses. Love a good cowbell. Piano lick in chorus is perfect. Tasteful, soulful guitar solo. No notes
2. Norwegian Wood
Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the bridge but I think it had to happen. Love the different string textures. One of my favorite melodies
3. You Won't See Me
I always get this one and Wait mixed up. This one is better. The "oooh lalala" in the 2nd verse always reminds me of School of Rock
4. Nowhere Man:
Love an acapella chorus opening. Perfect harmonies. One of my faves. Love this melody too. How can you not bob along with it. Also Paul is lowkey cooking taking that bass for a walk. Love the harmonic note at the end of the guitar solo.
5. Think For Yourself
I feel like this, You Won't see me and Wait could have been condensed in to great song instead of 3 fine songs. like the fuzzy guitar tone
6. The Word
This one is sassy
7. Michelle
Never got into this song tbh it makes me feel kind of creeped out lmao. Paul's voice sounds nice tho
8. What Goes On:
Who let Ringo sing
9. Girl:
Perfect. jk i got to the end part and I don't like that part. reminds me of my big fat greek wedding is that ok to say
10. I'm Looking Through You:
Very pleasant song until that damn dissonant organ in the chorus. Reminds me of Pleasant Valley Sunday wonder which came first I'll need to look that up
11. In My Life:
Who's chopping onions. Fantastic song, wish the choir at my high school graduation didn't ruin it for me. Such a perfect sweet little lick. Harpsichord solo goes hard (the high school choir sang that part too, unfortunately)
12. Wait
Just not my fave to listen to. I like the tremolo/other guitar stuff in the chorus
13. If I Needed Someone
Love the opening guitar riff + tone. Then the bass coming in is chef's kiss. Them 3 part harmonies. good good.
14. Run For Your Life
Inexcusable
1. I Feel the Earth Move
OK BASS pop off. Damn ok everyone is cookin. Piano slaps, bass is groovin, guitar is popping off. Ooo that break down is nice. That ritardando at the end is nice
2. So Far Away
Nice little flute solo. Really beautiful, melancholy melody which I'm down for
3. It's Too Late
Damn I didn't realize these were all Carole King and all on this album. Queen. That's a good chorus. Her voice is very soulful. Nice ending chord.
4. Home Again
Snow is cold rain is wet. This one is giving Carpenters a bit
5. Beautiful
This one is a bit whimsical, feeling like Paul McCartney/Billy Joel. Feel like this would be the song at the beginning of act 3 of a movie where a character realizes something and makes a change. A little goofy
6. Way Over Yonder
Vocals are serving—who is the other vocalist or is it just her. Solid sax solo. Could do without the electric guitar also soloing at the same time. Very soulful and bluesy
7. You've Got a Friend
Did not realize this was a cover. I think I like the James Taylor version better but maybe just because I heard it first. Ok, chords come thru.
8. Where You Lead
I wonder if I've heard this song more than any other song ever. Feelin lonely and sooo coollldd. She seems like a good friend
9. Will You Love Me Tomorrow?
Kind of heartbreaking tbh. Background vocals are a bit hot. Is that james taylor
10. Smackwater Jack
That little rhode piano lick was sick.
11. Tapestry
huh
12. (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
Brilliant. great end to the album
1. World in My Eyes
Sick synth stuff going on. Also sort of sounds like Like a Virgin + Head Like a Hole.
2. Sweetest Perfection
Not my fave, something about the vocal mix + lyrics isn't working for me. Feels like phantom of the opera in a bad way
3. Personal Jesus
Theatrical in a good way. Feels like a villain song and I'm down. Lowkey like the Marilyn Manson version but he's a bad man. Hm I don't love that breathy breakdown but I get it lol.
4. Halo
Cool synth stuff. Oo I like the drums coming in. Unfortunately I feel like this guy doesn't have my favorite voice. Or maybe it needs more effects on it to make it more interesting. Ooo I like the voice effect that just came in at 2:00.
5. Waiting for the Night
Ooo I like those lil keys. Some interesting textures. Don't love the burpy sounds
6. Enjoy the Silence
Love that guitar tone + riff. They just can't help themselves with the weird chords huh. Depeche Mode walked so DCFC Kintsugi could run. ok good studio fade not mad at that. OH NO THEY'RE BACK WHAT. Ok never heard this part ever. Prob not on the radio edit
7. Policy of Truth
Ok very cool opening riff. oh shit i love a good tambourine, that goes hard. Favorite on the album so far. Lots of cool textures happening
8. Blue Dress
ok 3/4. Cool and chill, nothing super exciting going on. I like that they tried the 3/4, a nice difference from the rest of the album. What is this laughing at the end. Oh it's not over. oh!
9. Clean
Hm ok is this another 3/4? Has a dark, ominous vibe. Again, feels villainous but also sounds like a children's book.
10. Dangerous
Oo some funky sounds. Feels very Trent Reznor. Was fine, nothing super different from the rest of the album.
11. Memphisto
This feels very Muse. Hm ok, very dramatic
12. Sibeling
Feels like tim burton. Pretty, haunting. Like a ghost.
13. Kaleid
OK PARTY!! That was sick I like it
1. Speak to Me
End was creepy and I’m a horror fan
2.
Odd, enchanting. Feels like you’re hearing something from another world or dimension that you’re not supposed to be hearing. She has a beautiful powerful voice in the climaxes of a few songs.
Waterfall is so good I'm obsessed. You know I love a 4 on the floor. reminds me of that Wolfmother song from the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack
Was very into this whole album, will be spinning this a lot.
Idk man I think they do hippie rock better
Maybe I’m not punk rock enough but I’m pretty sure this just sounds like shit
Pressure Point is a bop the rest was pretty mediocre
