Popular Reviews

The Bends by Radiohead

Damn near perfect front to back

Blackstar by David Bowie

Moody and ethereal. It's good, but not a ton of variety in sound throughout.

Pornography by The Cure
Apr 06 2026

Dark and atmospheric. Seems to run out of steam through the back half, but great energy on side A.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Apr 07 2026

Fun album. The blues influence is front and center on this one.

Moon Safari by Air
Apr 08 2026

Super chill album. I wouldn't say this is a consistent album, but the highs are spectacular, the lows are just kind of boring.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Apr 09 2026

Not their best album, but it still rips. Listen to it as loud as possible.

Apr 10 2026

Dylan just isn't my thing. I don't mind some of his stuff, but a whole album is just a slog.

Apr 13 2026

Good album, the Speakerboxxx half runs circles around The Love Below. There's better Outkast albums, but I'm not mad about listening to this.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Apr 14 2026

Such a fun album, keeps the energy up from start to finish.

Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
Apr 16 2026

Loving the jangly guitars on the upbeat songs. The ballads drag down the energy too much.

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Apr 17 2026

Runs a little long, but it's a fun album.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Apr 20 2026

Doolittle came up first for me and I couldn't recall why I disliked the Pixies, listening to this album brought it all back. Musically, it's not bad, but the vocals strip all my enjoyment out of the experience. Just weird for weird's sake, I hate it.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Apr 22 2026

The upbeat songs are fun, but there's not enough of them. The slower stuff just drags and grinds the album to a halt. Probably better served as music on in the background instead of being listened to intently.

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Apr 24 2026

I'm not qualified to critique jazz at all, but it was a good listen. Very smooth and chill.

Arrival by ABBA
Apr 27 2026

Very fun album. Came into it really only knowing the hits, but was nice to hear how musically interesting the entire record is.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Apr 28 2026

It's fine. Most the tracks have something fun going on musically. L'America and The WASP are terrible.

2112 by Rush
Apr 30 2026

Surprised how short the album was. I enjoyed it.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
May 01 2026

The bluesy stuff is good, but when they lean more rock is where this really soars for me. Great album.

May 04 2026

This is wussy music for wusses, but damn it's catchy as hell. Do yourself a favor and listen to the covers of The Scientist by Aimee Mann and Willie Nelson, they both blow Coldplay's version out of the water.

Metallica by Metallica
May 05 2026

It's a classic. Not as thrashy and much more commercial than their earlier stuff, but it still rips.

Very by Pet Shop Boys
May 06 2026

It's a fun listen, very catchy songs. Mostly made we want to listen to Duran Duran.

Ctrl by SZA
May 08 2026

Really solid and consistent from start to finish

The Bends by Radiohead
May 11 2026

Damn near perfect front to back

May 12 2026

Not a Dylan fan, but this wasn't bad. Side A is much better than B, but that could be due to fatigue from listening to the whole thing.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
May 13 2026

Roadhouse Bluse, Peace Frog, and Maggie M'Gill are all great blues rock songs. It's all the other stuff I can't stand.

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 14 2026

Moody and ethereal. It's good, but not a ton of variety in sound throughout.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
May 18 2026

This was my first full Elvis album listen, really enjoyed it. He's got a great voice and the band is super solid.

Be by Common
May 19 2026

This album had a stranglehold on me in college. Definitely sounds a little corny now, but can't deny how good this is.

Zombie by Fela Kuti
May 20 2026

Super fun album

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
May 21 2026

Couldn't do it. There's so little coherence to it both musically and lyrically.

Dry by PJ Harvey
May 22 2026

Not bad, probably would have been more impactful if I had listened when I was younger.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
May 25 2026

Really solid from start to finish. I loved it.

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
May 28 2026

Couldn't do it, the vocals are so off-putting and way too close to jam band territory.

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
May 29 2026

Loved it. Little bit of whiplash on the lyrics song to song, but the music is great.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jun 01 2026

Love her voice. You Don't Own Me is incredible.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Jun 02 2026

ATCQ rules. The music, the flow, it's all great.

Rattus Norvegicus by The Stranglers
Jun 03 2026

This is a slightly gothy and more fun version of The Doors, I love it.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jun 04 2026

Perfect album, no notes

Goo by Sonic Youth
Jun 05 2026

Not the best Sonic Youth album, but they're still awesome.

Jun 08 2026

Fun listen. Four Cornered Room kind of grinds the album to a halt, but everything else is enjoyable.

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jun 09 2026

Not wall to wall hits like Morning Glory, but I'll never be mad about listening to this. Everything sounds like it was engineered to play as loud as possible.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jun 10 2026

The first 4 songs weren't bad, that may be the most Dylan I can take at a time. Ballad of a Thin Man and Highway 61 Revisited are incredibly weird songs.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Jun 11 2026

Better than I was expecting. Felt like I was assembling a heist crew.

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jun 12 2026

I haven't listened to him enough. Didn't know any of these songs, but they're all great.

Station To Station by David Bowie
Jun 15 2026

Love the music on this one, super funky front to back.

Is This It by The Strokes
Jun 17 2026

So good. They're incredibly tight musically and the energy keeps up throughout the whole album.

The Renaissance by Q-Tip
Jun 18 2026

Really solid album. Hadn't heard it before. He's got a great flow and the production was good.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Jun 19 2026

What a voice. Not as musically exciting as Back to Black, but nothing wrong with this album.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Jun 22 2026

Good album. There's a few skips, but Life on Mars? is one of his best songs.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Jun 23 2026

ZZ Top shreds. They can't actually sing, most visible on I Need You Tonight, but anything in their typical yell/sing register works with the guitars so well. Makes me want to start ripping darts and work on my car.

Jun 25 2026

Admittedly, I'm not well versed in classic country, but I couldn't connect with this one. It sounded over-produced, especially compared to the country I have enjoyed, like George Jones and Willie Nelson. Several songs had really odd decisions made musically, like the abrupt tempo change on Cornbread Moon, or the sweeping minor key violin coming in really loud on Boxcars.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Jun 26 2026

Obviously not his best, but this was a great listen. Very chill and lofi.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jun 30 2026

Don't know much about this style of music, but a very chill listen.

Jul 01 2026

Not a word of his lyrics has aged well at all, but the flow's great. The whole piece struggles to provide a coherent message beyond shock value. I think he really had a hard time squaring the edginess and outsider stance that was an asset on the first album with his newfound fame.

Woodface by Crowded House
Jul 02 2026

Pretty boring. I'd rather listen to Don't Dream It's Over 14 times in a row.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Jul 03 2026

Takes me back to middle school dances. Great album. They all come across so cool and in control. Super smooth musically and their voices work together so well.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jul 06 2026

Musically incredible. The lyrics are all nonsense, so I try not to pay attention and treat it like another instrument.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jul 07 2026

Wasn't familiar with this album. Not all that memorable, but I didn't dislike it.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Jul 08 2026

The OGs, love them. Not just solid on the messaging, but the musicality is good and interesting.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Jul 09 2026

A little rough around the edges, but pretty fun. The vocal affect he's trying on One-Sided Love Affair are laughably bad.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jul 10 2026

Not my jam, but I appreciate the talent.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Jul 13 2026

An album full of hits. Great voice, great music.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Jul 14 2026

Really incredible that Dave Grohl was able to pick up the pieces post-Nirvana and singlehandedly create one of the best rock albums ever to exist on his first try. Even crazier that their style really hasn't changed all that much since the debut.

1999 by Prince
Jul 15 2026

The hits are spectacular, but there's several that just drag on. Almost every song is 1-2 minutes too long.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Jul 16 2026

Is every song on this album about rape? What a psycho.

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Jul 17 2026

Never heard this before. Not bad, but not very interesting, especially when considering their later work.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jul 20 2026

The beats are so good on this album. Love it.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 21 2026

More wussy music for wusses, but it's great. Doesn't wear out it's welcome and there's several excellent tracks on this album.

Kala by M.I.A.
Jul 22 2026
Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Jul 24 2026

The hits are good, not really excited by the rest of the songs on the album. Little Girl in the 4th Row sucks.

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Jul 27 2026

Perfect album. One of my favorites

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Jul 28 2026

Fun listen, really funky. Loved the guitars.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jul 29 2026

Very smooth. Didn't hate anything, but it all kind of blends together. Great background music while doing other stuff.

Jul 30 2026

Vocals are great, but the recording leaves the instruments very muddy. I like the studio recordings so much more.

Jul 31 2026

Genesis doing prog rock is not good. Their later stuff is legitimately great, this is exhausting.

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Aug 03 2026

He's the best. Such a fun listen.

Boston by Boston
Aug 04 2026

Essentially a greatest hits album. There's plenty of better albums out there, but this is a very enjoyable album.

Django Django by Django Django
Aug 05 2026

Never heard of them before, but I really liked this album. The jangly guitars were great. The album feels a little bloated, but overall a good time.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 10 2026

Little Wing might be my favorite song of his. The rest of the album is fine, but that song is so good.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 11 2026

Definitely the best RHCP album. They're not totally my thing, but I enjoyed how funky this one gets.

Fun House by The Stooges
Aug 12 2026

The Stooges are so good. Great reminder to listen to more of them. Love the frenetic energy that flows throughout all their work. None of their songs should be over 3:30, but even the longer ones aren't bad.
