This album was my submission. When I was thinking of what album to add, I wanted to try to pick something that was far away from anything on the previous list, which was a difficult task given how many albums there already are. This album and the band it's from have been personal favourites for years, and I thought it would bring some variety to the generator. I just love everything about it. It's got everything from metal to baroque to breakcore to accordion and somehow it all comes together cohesively. It's so fundamentally insane as a concept, but still somehow catchy. I hope people are able to enjoy this one or at least get a laugh out of it.

I've never had an album go from 1 star to 5 stars so quickly. I was OUT for most of the first track, and then the second tracked began and it all clicked for me.
It's so weird that its Frenchness is apparent from the beginning. Only someone living with a strong social safety net is able to be this weird

Igorrr in this list is a brilliant placement; First exposure to the project conveys a distinctly non-album impression that emphasizes the pitfalls of the compositional approach. At length, the music succeeds where contemplation of Baroque music and its place in modern ears fails. Savage Sinusoid bets everything on the technology-afforded maximal. Unfortunately, the bricks of the final stretch are less than placed. Music is immediate; It also can create multiple layers of impression; This album tries pressing every button at once.

Wow!
There were times when I was quite reminded of "The Most Unwanted Song" by Komar & Melamid and Dave Soldier. Let's see, opera singer, check! accordion, check! constantly changing genres, check!
Other times I thought of Stefon on SNL: "This albums got everything! klesmer, harpsichord, death metal drums, Satie-esque piano, classical guitar, electronia, Inception buttons, screaming maniacs...
Sort of like that old weather joke, "Don't like the music playing here? Just wait 15 seconds!"
This was the antidote to all those monotonous 90-minute albums in the project. I don't know what the hell is was, but by end I shouted "again!"

This has artistic merit for a unique vision. Doesnβt always stick together and certainly is often unpleasant to hear, but definitely worth inclusion for the genuine effort in mixing styles. I liked the Zappa-sequel jazzy βHoumousβ and the almost traditional French βChevalβ.

I was not expecting something like this. It is a combination of black metal, dubstep, classical, and baroque music. It also works incredibly well. The transitions are drastic but not in a way that clashes and Igorrr manages to bring the old and new together in a coherent and novel way. I listened to this album twice, one right after the other, because I enjoyed it so much.

Why was it necessary to scream me as the opening of the album??? Oh, I see, it was to get me to pay attention.
This was definitely worth the listen. Surprising to me!

After several years this list is still exposing me to things I'd likely not hear otherwise. Certainly interesting, not exactly my thing, and throughout I was pondering whether this was really synthesizing its various styles or just mashing them up. Worth the listen though. An extra point for being so unabashed about its wierd ouerve.

This is an awesome kind of madness. It certainly challenges you from the outset, but it feels that the abundance of screams and panic in the early tracks is actually used in moderation with lots of other more open and orchestral pieces. Mix this with the occasional metal skrillex electronic vibe and this is something that is entirely unique. It is engaging and something that I came back to multiple times over a few days⦠I expect to explore this more.

I've always thought metal was a genre ripe for electronic crossover, so it's cool to see an artist carry that experiment out with decent results. This LP does take a minute to get off the ground, but once it does the assortment of creative production techniques and wild instrumentation makes for a fun ride. My main gripes are that the scattered vocals are uniformly pretty bad and distracting, and that there needs to be a stronger sense of melody throughout β I for one am happy to listen to an hour of pure noise, but some stronger hooks and sense of musicality would've easily lifted this to a 4.

Oh sure! Take some baroque tunes, industrial noise, and dubstep, throw it in a blender powered by tortured human souls and serve over ice.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this immensely.
Was really not expecting to hear such a mashup of stuff, it very much appeals to my sensibilities, and while I'm not a fan of accordions generally, the presence herein did not offend me too much.
Good choice, good selection, good album.

Savage Sinusoid is certainly an interesting way to start an early morning drive north, it's not really like anything I've heard before, it's metal, it's trippy, it's got some dubstep, it has classical music, and it's French but also not French if that makes sense. I really liked it and I'd probably listen to it again, in small doses, but I think it might scrape a 4 because it's put together so well and appeals to most of my preferences. It certainly won't for other people.

HL: "Houmous", "Problème d'émotion", "Au Revoir"
He just... keeps throwing genres together... like a thoughtless child
Listening to this, I couldn't help be reminded of how Muse, one of my favourite bands, got dragged through the mud in 2012 after trying to combine arena rock, EDM and orchestral bombast. I am still a defender of that album, The 2nd Law, even as I have thought it was a BIT much.
But no, Igorrr comes and takes a similar approach, except he/they dial it up 1000%. And now I say, the problem is that Muse didn't take it far ENOUGH.
As with metalcore, I could only take this "breakcore" stuff in small doses; luckily 40 minutes was a small enough dose.

Okay, that was at least a very original combination of electronic music and metal (as well as many other genres). And it's done in a way I've never quite heard before, or ever expected to hear for that matter. Kind of thrilling in that sense. It's funny, if you put Mike Patton on vocals over this I'd be fully on board, but vocals as is kind of hold it back for me. Glad to know this insanity exists though.

Okay, this was kind of great. If I had to explain this to someone outside of this group, I would not even know where to begin, but it was riveting to listen to. Starts out like a heart attack and then becomes this freewheeling exercise in batshittery which is just so much fun. Just shy of a 4 as it becomes a bit of a blur on the back half. But I enjoyed it.
Incredibly creative and weird with a rogue sense of humor. There's also clear musicality in this, which Igorrr takes great pleasure in thrashing to bits every time you relax for a second. It's like the avant garde electronic metal album Zappa never got to make.

Itβs a fusion of styles and ideas that are surprisingly complementary. Itβs not a fusion I want though, as a listener. Itβs just not my thing. But, I acknowledge that this group achieved what they set out to do, I think. Itβs unique, especially from everything else that came out in 2017.

Inarguably the most schizophrenic thing I've listened to in quite a while. It's so niche it's crazy. I've been trying to come up with a good metaphor for what it's like to listen to this, where it might flip from low gutteral growls to the fucking Amen break, but I'm at a loss for words. "Interesting" is the only word that repeatedly flashes in my mind. Favorite tracks: "Opus Brain", "Apopathodiaphulatophobie"

This music is total bullshit but for some reason I found myself enjoying it. Itβs arty heavy metal dubstep and I liked the production of it even tho itβs tacky and the screaming is annoying. Americans had skrillex in the 2010s and this is the French equivalent I guess.

Now here's a metal album I can support - very weird, strange instrumental and sound choices throughout that not only add an experimental layer but break up the sort of monotony that I struggle with in metal. French artist I believe - pretty solid. I'm keeping a few from this one. Cool pick!

Not as crazy as I used to think it was, but still solid and quite impressive from a production standpoint. Experimental metal that occasionally wants nothing to do with metal and does Balkan folk music or classical or dubstep instead. There's a certain amount of appeal that this sort of eclectic approach to metal can bring, but it can end up translating to a less-focused, messy album. Savage Sinusoid seems intent on doing so much in it's fair runtime that it makes me wonder if something could be added to tie it all together and a nice neat bow. The closing track feels like a nice send-off, but just barely covers what I'm looking for in an album like this. Could do with some revisions.
CONTENDER FOR THE LIST: There's a few preceding experimental metal bands I would include before Igorrr, so probably not.

This sounds like they set some guy on fire and then asked him to compose boss battle music for the new Devil May Cry game.
Genuinely incomprehensible. Saying "what the fuck am I listening to" is obviously the intended reaction, so I'd say it succeeds in what it's setting out to do, because what the fuck am I listening to. Strong 3/5.

Very surprising. Contains things like accordions, speed accordions, Spanish classical guitars, acoustic guitars, pianos, and... 70s video games samples(?) along with the obligatory screaming. If I was asked to annotate what they're saying, I'd just make stuff up... and I'd be right.

Technical death metal pushed to its most ridiculous operatic and electronic extremes. Itβs fun, itβs silly, and there are some surprisingly nice moments like the guitar part in Spaghetti Forever - itβs just not always too pleasant to listen to. Thereβs a bit too much going on all at once, which admittedly seems like the whole point but sometimes an accordion waltz, dubstep, and death growls is more than one song needs

I can actually not think of any moment during my waking hours where I would like to listen to this album. This one doesn't resonate with me on any level, at all.
