Before listening I kind of wanted to just give this album a 4, with the idea that yeh there’s some well known songs in here but the lesser known ones let it down. But having listened to it I think it’s overall a genuinely enjoyable album with a great sound the whole way through. The changes in pace and tone of the songs seemed to be just right and I got to the end thinking, yeh I could listen to that all over again rather than “thank god it’s over”, which I’ve definitely thought about a few albums on this list so far.

Csak annyit mondok, 14x láttam a Mamma Mia!-t moziban. Többször, mint a Harry Potter és a Főnix Rendjét (12).

A wonderful album to brighten a gloomy, rainy October morning, and a triumphantly easy five stars from me. Pure transportive ABBA joy, complete with songs about problematic age gaps and cool animals – just classic stuff. The list's pop-phobia is crazy because what do you mean there are only two ABBA albums but seven by [REDACTED]? No offence to [REDACTED], whom I do like, but get real, Dimery!

It's a good album with some classic songs - equally as good as The Visitors. My fave track from this album is Fernando, which apparently was only included on the original album for the Australia and New Zealand releases. IMO some of the best ABBA songs aren't on either of the two albums on this list. What about Winner Takes It All and Super Trouper?! That album would get 5 stars from me. Also Waterloo, Thank You For The Music, Voulez Vous, Angeleyes, Chiquitita, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)? So many great songs not accounted for.

I’m not sure two albums of ABBA are that different form each other. Kerri was bopping up and down to this. Callie was rocking out to dancing queen saying “dass” and coincidentally using the rock on hand signal.

I hate Abba, it's beyond cheesy. However I will concede that Dancing Queen is an all time classic, the only good song they ever wrote, so it can have a point for that.

Just not for me

One of their best, and there's a reason why all their hits are on this album. The better of the two ABBA albums.

Melody scientists.

very teenage music

Classic pop!

nevetségesnek is kevés.

Høye topper og noen helt fryktelig dype daler. Jeg foretrekker den best of-samlingen, altså. Min favoritt her er forresten "Knowing Me, Knowing You".

Sånn ellers syns eg “When I Kissed the Teacher” er eit litt merkeleg val som opnningsspor. 8/10

A few hits and plenty of other songs which could have been hits. Whether or not you would want to listen to these that often there is no problem with appreciating their skill and success.

Oh how I love ABBA and this album! Its just every happy moment from my childhood wrapped up in perfect pop. I hope everyone listened the the version with the brilliant Fernando as the last track? I get why this isnt for everyone, but ABBA are part of my DNA and I will never not love them

I've tried, I've really tried, but it's just blibby blobby plink plonk cheesy nonsense to my ears, with occasional blasts of Chas n Dave piano. Dum dum diddle indeedy. (I added a star for 'Tiger' which is absolutely hilarious)

Super wonky but good earworms

Well, despite being their 4th album, ABBA did Arrive with this one- their mega crossover hit that produced Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, and others. It’s a bit juvenile at times, dealing with teenage woes and angst, but it’s infectious; hitting its groove and having some of the best production of the period as far as vocal mix and instrumentation goes. It’s a classic for a reason. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75

3,8 Highlights: Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money

It's so refreshing to get an album that's actually good for once. Loads of bangers on this, it's ABBA, there's nothing much more to say tbh

Super album. Highlights of course were Knowing Me Knowing You, and Fernando. A surprise delight was Arrival, wasn't expecting a pack of lyrics and a Celtic twist. Really didn't enjoy Why Did It Have to Be Me?, badly aged in my opinion, I've never liked that honky-tonky sort of sound. 3.75 stars rounded up.

Arghh I couldn’t make it past the third track. Sorry but life’s too short.

Did “Money, Money, Money” steal that hook from the Oompas-Loompa? 6 keepers in 12 for modern tracklisting (50%). 5 keepers in 10 for original (50%). 50

From abba i know songs from mamma mia but didn't listen anything else beside them. - music sounds cheerful - i like the silly background voices - money money money is so coolll - whole album is just so iconic - many songs are silly and i like it

Why did it have to be me es una joya infravalorada, My love My life fue mi letra favorita

Banging tunes

Fun to revisit ABBA and explore this album that holds several of their hits.

Aside from the big songs, the rest of this album was okay. It was a fun listen, but nothing really spectacular.

Swedish legends. So many iconic songs from this album and it’s all a groove.

Six music videos is insane for an album from 1976. Seems appropriate for the official band of Karens everywhere. Dancing Queen gives me the icks. It's almost too horrible to be real. 1 star.

Abba was integral to my childhood. This album has some classics like Fernando. All Abba albums get 5 stars.

Nice. Ahead of its time Pop. (Listened to it on Apple Music)

That's Me pioneered the rave piano Rating: light 6/10

Flawless pop

Well, obviously it's 5 stars! Nobody in the household complained when I played this quite loud in the kitchen most of the afternoon 😂. Lots of their hits, and even the cringe worthy lyrics on "Tiger" was hand-waved away as, well, this is ABBA... The most surprising track for me was the title "Arrival". I was convinced they were using a bagpipe, but apparently all keyboard, synth and recording wizardry! Great fun.

When a third of the tracks are instantly recognisable and massive hits, and the others have the same energy and craft in their writing and performance, you know it's a great album. Even though their brand of pop isn't to my taste all the time, I like it in context. Arrival was the song I thought stood out as a really well crafted and arranged song, which was a surprise given the other bangers that are on it. I mean, it's ABBA. At least a 4 for me, but I thought I couldn't quite slide it into the 5. But it deserves a 5 for its impact, and it is clearly a great album even if my tastes don't align completely. So I'll put aside prejudice and do what I have to.

This album just kinda bangs all the way through. It's over-the-top pop songwriting 101. The vocal arrangements are awesome. When I Kissed The Teacher is my favorite. I love the lead-in, and as someone who doesn't know ABBA very well, I wasn't sure where it was going. It's also fun to hear Dancing Queen in it's natural habitat. Really want to give this a 5 but the weaker tracks in the middle (ex: Money, Money, Money and Tiger) hold it back quite a bit as an album.

listening to a whole bunch of different music sorta recontextualizes abba as a product of immense musical talent and this album's pretty jam-packed. almost every song is just a great listen. unfortunately if we're going by tournament rules then Fernando isn't in the runnings since it's not in the original release. favorite song is Knowing Me, Knowing You, also Dum Dum Diddle and Tiger were great sleeper hits. strong 4

It was really nice and refreshing after all the rubbish this project has generated to give me something like ABBA to push up the ratings.

Theres a reason ABBA have remained popular since they first broke onto the scene, and its because they are good at what they do… the songs are well written and sung beautifully, and even for somebody like me who isnt a fan of ABBA or this style of pop music, its hard to actually dislike them

Full of hits: "Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Money, Money, Money" and "Fernando". It's not really my type of music but I have to give credit when it's due.

A few familiar hits that are fine to listen to, but the rest of this album is totally forgettable. Although it is often said that ABBA was musically much more complex than they get credit for, I just don't enjoy listening to this. I still find it to be way too much bubblegum pop music for my taste.

I love all types of music, older, newer - harder, softer. But I'm just not sure why I've never been able to get into ABBA. It resonates with a large crowd - I wish I got it. I'll continue to listen, I'll continue to try to be open. I just don't see it. There's so much great music from the mid 70's, this certainly isn't bad. So many bands and genres light me up when I listen to it - ABBA has always been flat. No disrespect, I can hear it and appreciate it. I just can't get into it.

Familiar with most of the tracks here - nice to give abba a proper listen instead of hearing it in the background. Really well recorded, composed and performed bit of pop music.

Some bangers on here but all in all the album is good not great.

70s pop radio, sung in perfect English.

ABBA Toy!

A critically acclaimed album, iconic. Not my cup of tea though, I'm not an ABBA fan, the harmonies and vocals all sound eerily similar on most of the unknown songs. 'Dancing Queen' is always going to be a top song over the world. 'Fernando' too. Everyone knows 'Money, Money, Money', can't say that it's an enjoyable experience listening to it though. 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' is lesser played but still well known and a good song. 'Tiger' was an unknown song to me that stood out. My taste ranks this as a 2*. That's not fair though, as an album it's elevated by the status of the band and the album itself. I'll reluctantly put this as a 4*.

Tuesday, 13 October, 2026 Interesting story. A few solid tunes. Well produced. Not my style.

Not for me. Obviously great POP but I was never a fan. Not quite Punk enough....

One day I’ll come around on ABBA, too many musicians I admire swear by them, but all I hear are overly sentimental, saccharine melodies/production, the Swedish version of Schlager.

Underbart

Good album = good day

I do think this is one of the weaker albums in ABBA's imperial era. Only one of the singles (Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You, and That's Me, w. Fernando also on the extended version) would make my top 10 songs from them (KMKY, for the record), and like with the other albums, the rest of the tracks are immaculate compositions, but a little dull at times, and a little too weird at others. Solid album though. Even a weak ABBA single is still a catchy slice of pop perfection, and enough of the album tracks are charming enough to preserve a solid rating here

por Fernando le doy 3 estrellitas.

It's classic ABBA, full of disco elements but it has some rock and pop even psychedelic parts. I liked the back end of the album a bit better than the first half. Overall it is a bit cheesy for my liking but there are a couple gems to discover like Tiger and Happy Hawaii. I will add those to a playlist but that is about it, not in a rush to listen to this one again.

Cute album, my love my life is sad, ending of the song arrival goes crazy. 3/5

Great album, full of hits.

Joyous. You know you love it(it’s OK, no one is looking)

how teenage years sounded

just have never been an ABBA person

If the songs are good or not doesn't really matter, Abba is just a lot of fun. I can Dancing Queen forever really. That said, look I just have to say it: it's weird that the first song on this album is basically just "I sexually assaulted my teacher!" like that's weird right?

A few really great songs, but a couple real duds. I don't think this would be my favorite ABBA album, but it's not terrible.

This ABBA album is so pop and so disco yet so...not fully disco? There is something about the sound that makes it distinct, makes it feel like the 70s, but not enough for those who went through disco fever and disco abandonment in just three years. Only the hard were able to avoid Dancing Queen.

Alright, yeah. It’s fun. It’s catchy. It’s pretty vibey. I can get down with this. ABBA is one of those weird historical meme bands that you probably either love or hate depending on your exposure with the band, and Pop/Disco music as a whole. Personally, I think it’s alright. It’s at least a 3, but I can’t say I would seek this out tremendously often, and after enough time with it I really get the point. But it’s still good. Everyone is familiar with “Dancing Queen”, that’s just a fact. It’s an all time classic and ABBA’s most well known song for good reason. It’s fantastic, I love that song. Beautiful singing, and just a great song overall, with each note just being executed flawlessly. But my favorite song on this album is actually “Money, Money, Money”. I believe it’s catchier, and the hook just makes me want to dance. It’s more fun to sing in my opinion. Disco is such a weird genre in general. It was a flash in the pan phenomenon that was immensely popular for a very brief period, and then phased out just as quickly for the next big thing. Over time, some less lucky bands who relied entirely on Disco as their sole gimmick got instantly phased out and just kind of exist in the annals of time as something that people remember that they either loved or hated, depending on their personal preferences. For everyone, myself included, who didn’t grow up with Disco, a lot of it comes off as homework. But the kind of stuff it evolved into is fascinating. This album is one of such instances, where it’s more Pop than Disco, but you can tell there’s still some of that Disco feel deeply rooted in the heart of the album, with the Pop aspects taking center stage. And I really think that that’s why people love, or hate for that matter, ABBA as a band. They were experts at crafting albums with the kind of sound that was popular at the time, but making the sound unmistakably theirs at the same time, often making it as catchy as they possibly could. And yeah, this album is very catchy. I would assume this is the one that people know the most, and I know for a fact that their sound subtly evolved over time into whatever was popular at that particular moment. For instance, this is their fourth album. It’s the first of 2 albums for this project that I’ll get to listen to. The other album is their 8th album a few years later, and I guarantee it’s going to sound pretty different than this one. I’m much less familiar with it. But Arrival is probably the bands magnum opus, and it’s pretty good for what it is. It’s a medium 3 out of 5. I like it.

Hyper cool banger

THE BEST EVER EVER EVER

I have just never been into them.

A fantastic, toe-tapping effort by ABBA. Full of radio hits like "Money, Money, Money," one cannot help but jiggle their leg to the lush, loud rhythms of the Swedish foursome. However, it's also at that same track where things wind down and the radio appeal basically ends (save for the inspiring eponymous instrumental finale). If it could stay more consistent with the hits (or not frontload them) it'd nearly be a masterpiece.

The singles are okay, but the rest is mostly annoying. 3 stars or C+.

Fernando told me to give this 5

ABBA is a band that I never really encountered much intentionally. Not really ever my style but I’ll see what it sounds like. It’s old school 70s pop dance music. Very catchy. I know Dancing Queen it’s a well known song. Very 70s disco sounding. There’s certainly a defined sound throughout a lot of it. It’s a bit too…pop for me. Especially the slower stuff. Just not my favorite sound. Works better when it’s dancier and more upbeat. Just not all my favorite. There’s some catchy fun stuff here and it’s never bad. It’s just not all for me. Feels like a 2-3. Would never offend me to hear this but I would never choose to throw this on. It’s very fun at times though! I like it more than most albums I gave a 2 and less than a lot of solid 3s. Going 2. Never won me over or wowed me with anything.

Lennon and McCartney 🤝 Benny and Björn

It's full of memories and feelings, because sometimes we don't remember where those songs come from, but when you hear them, you know they were part of your upbringing and they take you back to those memories.

Not usually an ABBA fan but this album as a whole is good. Something cute about the most non-threatening band ever singing about how they are a lethal creature. I am the ✨🐯✨TIGAHHHH✨🐯✨ Best Tracks: Tiger, Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, Fernando, Dum Dum Diddle (yw Larso) Rating: 7.5/10

When my mom went to NYC and saw Mamma Mia back in 2002 we were on a huge ABBA greatest hits kick when she got home. So I've got a little bit of a soft spot for them. How does a whole album hold up? "When I Kissed the Teacher" is a TOUGH way to start the album (at least by 2026 standards?) A few tracks in I was thinking this is kinda mid fun background pop music. Then I caught myself slowly turning it up during Knowing Me, Knowing You. Then I started turning it down during "Why Did it Have to Be Me?" Arrival was a journey. Splitting the difference with a 3, closer to 3.5.

A great pop album. I feel happy and ready to frolick in a field or through cobblestone streets with my lover. Favorite Tracks: Dancing Queen Knowing Me, Knowing You, Why Did It Have To Be Me? Tiger Fernando

You Can Dance, You Can Jive 1001 Albums Generator 361 (9/30/2026) This album makes me feel gay and European. 4/5. Favs: Dancing Queen Money, Money, Money Tiger Least Fav: Arrival

Some bangers. Definitely worth a listen, even if most songs don't quite match the aforementioned highs

2 stars I knew the singles and they are fun enough. But the rest of the album is not very interesting or memorable. The opener particularly stinks.

Certainly better than modern pop music, but still not for me.

love love love love with all my heart

Great ABBA.

I don't care what anyone says, ABBA is great.

Fun, with some classic ABBA songs.

My 200th album has "Arrived"... well this was an exciting listen. I'll start with the highlights. Dancing Queen is an amazing track that brings back a lot of memories for me. Same with Money, Money, Money. The instrumentation is great, vocals are great, and the sound production and blending of both instruments and vocals is really well done. Where it falls off for me is that the album doesn't really have a clear structure. Just kind of a bunch of songs. "Why Did It Have To Be Me" did not fit at ALL into the rest of the album. They were going a little somewhere with Arrival being the closer. I enjoyed that track. But why add the bonus tracks at the end? At least in the Spotify version, the album just feels incomplete with Happy Hawaii being the closer. For some reason, Fernando was in the middle of the album in the AU/NZ release but not at all in the worldwide release? Which feels really dumb? And then on Spotify it's just tacked on the end? It also really pisses me off that every song just has a fade out. Anyway, it was a good listen for my 200th album from this challenge. Even though it's been nearly 1000 days since I started, and I took like a total of a year not listening to any albums, I hope to get a little bit back on track. So far this generator has been great and I am excited to see what albums I'll get in the future!
