Simply RedGreat album
Great album
I had never even heard of this band before. And I start listening to it and I'm like what the hell is this French lesbian R&B?! And then after while I'm like this is some damn good French lesbian r&b! A keeper and a sharer
Greatly enjoyed. I'd heard singles, but never the whole album. Never realized quite how energetically dreary the band is.
Amazing album. The copy that I downloaded had a 1 hour long interview with John Lydon tacked on to the end of the list; that was an unexpected treat!
It only heard one or two of the singles from this album and of course of my life. Now that I've heard the whole album I really get why the band was so popular. They're a pure driving rock band in a very defining way. I ended up listening to it twice today.
Hit the nostalgia bone, but I was never a big fan of them. Nice to know I've 'done the album though'
A favorite of my ff and I
It was nice hearing the hits that I had heard before within the context of the entire album. Definitely a wonderful Sunday afternoon experience
Meh, metal
I enjoyed listening to it and it's entirety. Coincidentally I had already had it on my phone but had only listened to tracks on shuffle. It was interesting to hear a couple of songs that I actually knew quite well because of other people's covers that I hadn't realized I had originally been written by John Lennon
That was a great album, listened to it while sanding down a plastered wall.
That was a pleasant background for a bedtime read
Listen to this and it's entirety while painting a wall white in the middle of a high traffic public hallway. It was a very relaxing experience.
I hadn't realized how many Steely Dan songs I had heard throughout the course of my life. That was quite enjoyable
I was greatly amused to find out that their number one hit was the last song on the album. Nice album to make pancakes on a Sunday morning to
That was pleasant to listen to but ultimately underwhelming.
That was unexpectedly good. I heard a couple of songs that I've heard covers of. All said I've enjoyed it enough that I am going to download the entire discography and add it to my collection
That was absolutely delightful. I listened to it while reading the last few episodes of the Crossed comic books, so it was a wonderful juxtaposition of lush musicality and over sexualized Gore.
That was a treat. Ended up listening to it twice. Adding it to the folder of things that get randomly played when I'm doing housework.
Was an enjoyable experience to listen to this foundational white R&B record. Not going to keep it for mobile but we'll keep it for the shuffle
I already have this one in my collection and I absolutely love it listen to it all the time
Honestly now that I'm in my 50s the gangster rap just sounds silly. The lyrical flow was good the Beats were great but content wise it was unappealing. Will not be adding to regular rotation
Listen to it riding my bike to and from work coincidentally through little Portugal / little Brazil in Toronto in the middle of winter. I got a lot of smiles from people walking on the sidewalk as I rode bye on the very loud speaker that I attached to my bike. Going to keep this one and maybe check out some of his other stuff but this will definitely be a summer bike ride album.
That was fun, some I'd heard before.
Listens to it while riding my bike to work this morning. Really enjoyed it. Adding it to the shuffle
Great album
As it has always been, a great album. Haven't listened to the whole thing all the way through in quite a while.
That was enjoyable. I'm more used to the remixes and dance versions of the familiar songs.
Listen to it with the woman that I spent the night with lying in bed the next morning with coffee. She loved it
At the age of 50 I had never actually gotten around to listening to that entire album from beginning to end. And having listened to it from beginning to end at the age of 50 I am now glad that I was old enough to properly appreciate it when listening to it for the first time. I'm now going to make a point of seeing if I can find a group that performs this album live in my area and attend their performance
A favorite of many many decades. It was nice to get a reminder and prompt to listen to the whole thing from beginning to end again. My personal anecdote for the band is that after they broke up I eventually became a huge fan of Stuart Copeland and really didn't give as*** about sting. For s**** and giggles I'm going to look up the guitar players post police history to see what he ended up going on to do.
Meh
Been listening to this one for decades. Absolutely love it
Took a few days to get through the whole thing because life kept interrupting. Great to listen to lots of songs that I've heard throughout the years
I'm honestly underwhelmed. I had heard of it pavement for decades now and never got around a listing to them and now I understand why
I heard the name before but never heard the music that was a real treat and definitely going to be keeping it in the collection
I hadn't listened to this all the way through in I don't know how long. It was probably at least 20 or 30 years ago in a friend's basement during the very early teen years when somebody had the rare occurrence of weed. So today I decided to put on the full length movie version and watch it with my kids on family day! The 18-year-old thought it was interesting.
It was pleasant to listen to but not an album I'll be putting on my phone to carry around with me
I was never a big fan. I recognized a few of the songs. But didn't really move me in any way
S'alright. Nice bus ride music
That was fabulous! Adding to the travel folder on my phone. Ended up listening to it twice today
That was great fun. Probably going to add it to my collection so I can listen to it again later
Pleasant to listen to like all of Paul Simon's works but not overwhelmingly good enough to add to the shuffle on my phone; I will however add it to a folder called Simon and Garfunkel on my computer
A bunch of my Metalhead friends said that they're going to kick my ass after I admitted that I did not know that the theme song to the TV show Big Mouth was a Black Sabbath cover until I was prompted to listen to this entire album for the first time today
It started out really screechy and reminded me of my mom when I was sick. Then as it went on and the Nostalgia hit for the songs that I recognized and remembered I really got into it. Going to add it to the mobile collection
That was a treat! Stays on the phone until the next purge.
Loved it
A pleasant listen, but it didn't Rock My World.
Instrumentally I quite enjoyed this, lyrically I could appreciate the flow Cadence and some of the word play; but as a middle-aged white man from Suburban Canada I wasn't able to entirely connect with the lyrical content and messaging. And I don't think I'm expected to be able to in anything more than a superficial way.
Great album glad that I met it
It was a fun listen but the band either was inspired by a bunch of other bands that they sound just like were inspired a bunch of other bands to sound just like them since the album came out. I'll keep it in the at home Shuffle but I'm not going to carry it around on my phone.
I am so sad that I didn't know of this album years and years ago. I absolutely loved it and ended up listening to it three times. Definitely going to be checking out the rest of the band's discography
A classic album of my goth youth! Accidentally downloaded disc 2 of the remaster and ended up listening to all of the remix as well having my daily bicycle commute, but then I listened to the entire the album on a moderate volume during the evening and it was great.
I had heard singles off of the album but never the whole album. It was a great selection and I think I'm going to keep it around a while
I'd known the singles it was nice to finally hear the rest of the album. I quite enjoyed it
Just happened to have downloaded it when my girlfriend came back into the room on a Saturday morning, I said hey what a crawl back into bed and listen to the Jimi Hendrix experience; so we did and it was good.
I'm not a big hardcore fan but that was a half decent listen.
That was a wonderful example of early Rock and Soul music. My girlfriend's going to love making out to it.
Got to sit entirely still on the streetcar while I listened to this on the way to work, was very relaxing.
A fun and interesting listening. I didn't realize quite how noisy that band could get
Started to really enjoy it until this persistent wooba dooby dooby dooby dooby dooby noise started to be heard as almost there backing instrument in all the tracks and it just drove me up the wall. I listen to it all the way through and I did enjoy it but that stupid whoopie dooby dooby dooby dooby sound will prevent me from making it something that I would listen to on a regular basis
Haven't listened to the whole album all the way through in quite a while. That was nice!
A great listen. Had not heard it before.
That was a nice listen. Kind of middle of the road for content, probably not going to throw that on the phone for mobile listening but I'll keep it in the at home collection
That made my morning commute and the first two hours of work amazing! Going to keep that one on the phone for mobile listening in the future.
Long time Smith's in Morrissey fan but I never actually gotten around to listening to this album. I like it
The instrumentation and flow was quite enjoyable, but as with all of the gangster rap albums I really don't connect to it in any way because it's not my lived experience
I usually do thick as a brick when I'm going to do a jethroat toll listen. This was a nice change of pace
Knew some of the singles, glad to have the album now.
Oldie but a goodie!
Nice enough, but not 'on the phone for mobile listening' good.
Meh, good album but I've hard it way too often in my life.
Knew the singles. Liked the album
That was an absolute treat! I put it on while I was reading John lydon's biography anger is an energy and it paired really well much to my surprise. Definitely keeping this for mobile listening and going to put it on as a makeout album with my girlfriend
An album I know pretty well. Nice to listen to it fully looking forward to the next one though cuz this was really new
I've had this one on my phone as part of my standard listening selection for close to a decade
I like Punk but I've never been able to get into the hardcore scene. I can appreciate the technical skill and the lyrical message but I just would not choose to listen to this of my own volition.
I had never even heard of this band before. And I start listening to it and I'm like what the hell is this French lesbian R&B?! And then after while I'm like this is some damn good French lesbian r&b! A keeper and a sharer
It only heard one or two of the singles from this album and of course of my life. Now that I've heard the whole album I really get why the band was so popular. They're a pure driving rock band in a very defining way. I ended up listening to it twice today.
Had never heard that album before. I enjoyed it, but it's not something that I'm going to actively seek out to put on; but I'll keep it in the archive for random play
Awesome album!
Absolutely beautiful listen to it twice
It was OK. Hadn't listened to them before. Not something I'll choose, but don't mind it in the shuffle.
Great easy listening album. Gonna put it in the 'make out with my gf that likes RAndB folder
A classic, love it.
Technically and production wise its a great album, a treat to listen to if you don't mind the language; but the lyrical content is just trash for someone that does not come from a black, urban, gangster background.
This is The Benchmark for ambient albums. I have probably listened to it thousands of times going to sleep at night over the past 30 years of my life.
A pretty album and a nice listen but not something that I'm going to come back to very often.
Great album. Listened 3 times today. Keeping on the phone for at least a while.
A classic of the genera. Danced to it at the club many times.
Pretty. Will be keeping for the background music playlist.
Never listened to her before. I get why all the girls like her now. Not my cup of tea.
Much to my surprise I find out that the person that sings Son of a Preacher Man is a white lady. The whole album was great it's definitely a keeper
Genre defining classic that I know well
It was kind of like hey Mom can we have some of the Pogues and Mom said no we have the pugs at home. I'll delete it for space on the phone I'll keep it for posterity on the external hard drive that I put on shuffle for parties.
Absolutely beautiful! Ended up listening to it three times and it's been added to my bedtime I'm going to sleep now playlist
It was pretty good I hadn't heard it before I enjoyed it
It wasn't bad but I really didn't pay much attention to it because it was so Bland. Probably due to overexposure when I was younger
That is some genuine and authentic Punk. Quite enjoyed replastering a ceiling to that today.
Nice
I listen to to the whole thing yesterday, and can't remember anything significant today.
Great album. Was playing while riding to work and another cyclist complimented me on my choice of album; so I told her it was my first time with it because of 1001atltbyd lol
Im not a big metal fan, but I did enjoy listening to this over two days of bike commutes.
It was nice. And help me familiarize myself with some Barbara songs before I go and see her live later this year
It made taking a trip to the dentist mildly more pleasant
Interesting listen.
An amazing listen. Took three days of bike commutes to get through it; and I got asked what I was playing multiple times.
Long time Japan listener. Great Album.
Magnificent
Very cool to hear such early versions of songs. I liked it.
Pleasant
Longtime favorite
That was fun! Grabbing the rest of the discography to add to my shuffle.
Heard it many times before it's an all right album
This album was like saying hey Mom I'd like some of the Beatles and your mom saying we have the Beatles at home. The thing is the Beatles that you were referring to were Chef Boyardee canned ravioli and the Beatles at home that she was referring to was the old Italian nanas homemade ones with her custom blend of ground beef and pork and spices and herbs that she grew in her backyard with the pasta made with wheat grown from grains that she brought over from the old country after the war. It was like experiencing a Beatles album if the Beatles had stuck around long enough to get a bit of a metal Edge.
It started out kind of hippy dippy but got progressively more bluesy. It was enjoyable
Meh that was my dad's dad Rock
It sounded just as good as the first time I heard it and a white kids University dorm room while smoking weed in my teens
I unexpectedly got to listen to this album for the first time this morning on making love to my girlfriend. We both enjoyed the album.
Greatly enjoyed. I'd heard singles, but never the whole album. Never realized quite how energetically dreary the band is.
That was awesome! Glad to add it to my rotation
Technically good but underwhelming
A classic of my youth but not one that I was ever particularly enamored by
Delightful blast from the past. Grabbing their discography for a deep dive.
Nice, but not adding to my collection
That was fun! Keeping it on the phone for biker rides
Nice. Nostaligic for GenX
That was a fun collection of Classics that I had not heard all together before.
I honestly tried. But I couldn't get through more than half of this album. The content of it was just so completely irrelevant to my life or experiences and it didn't do anything for me
Nice album. Some really great drumlines and basslines that I'm surprised haven't been sampled more.
Amazing album. The copy that I downloaded had a 1 hour long interview with John Lydon tacked on to the end of the list; that was an unexpected treat!
Heard it before it's a good album
Cool album.
Well know,great album
Great album loved it
A delightful listen on my way to and from work on my bike, brought smiles to a lot of people's faces at stop lights
That was interesting and not bad. I'm not going to delete it right away and it will probably end up in the permanent collection
Great album! And I get to see him perform live in Toronto next month.
Nice prog rock, but not something I will listen to repeatedly
A genre defining album
I listen to it all the way through and I don't remember a single moment of it.
It sounded like everything else I've ever heard Neil Young do
I really enjoyed the album, I had heard the singles but not the entire album before.
It sounded like a British pop band decided to make a country album.
Really enjoyed it. Ended up downloading the combination of the original CD and the live Hammersmith collection.
Sounded like every other Van Morrison album.
I ended up listening to this five times while I cleaned my turtle tank yesterday. Going to add to the permanent collection I really enjoyed it
That was delightful and being added to the permanent collection
Pretty sure that I have heard all the songs, but not in order that they were intended to be listened to on the album. Loved it
Ironically I saw them play Live just this past Saturday night. It'll be great to spend the morning and afternoon ride on my bike listening to the album versions of songs that I had just heard played live.
Meh sounds like every other person of this genre
Great album, been listening to it for years.
I remember them being 'more', I guess time and new music has raised my standards. Heard sooooo many 'Japan' baselines.
I really enjoyed listening to that. It's one of my girlfriend's favorite artists so it's definitely going to stay in the collection for playing up with the cottage.
That was a fun album
I enjoyed it. I had not realized just how good they were
Technically a great album but me and a middle-aged white guy from Canada I couldn't connect with a lot of the content
I enjoyed that
It was good, I'd enjoy seeing him play at a live music festival, but it's not an album that I'm going to pull up of my own volition.
This was amazing! A bunch of songs that I had heard throughout my many decades but never within the context of the original album. Definitely going to be in the permanent collection that gets played on shuffle on my phone.
It was an interesting listen. It's not something that I will put on often because to be honest it was a bit of a chore to get through even though I was just sitting here reading Reddit while it played.
That was entertaining but ultimately underwhelming.
I could never get into her.
Always enjoyed Marcy. I grabbed the deluxe remaster that included live versions of all the songs so it was doubly good.
I was only familiar with the earlier bubblegum pop. This was a very enjoyable piece of progressive rock music
That was a fun album. I had only ever heard the single the Humpty Dance, the rest of the album was quite enjoyable
One of the best albums of my generation
Meh. Hardcore all sounds the same to me. It played in the background of making coffee, washing the dishes, and reading the paper and 10 minutes later I dont remember a single song, lyric, or hook.
Quite good. I had only ever heard the single. Will keep around.
That was a fun lesson. Going to add it to the cottage patio mix
That was a fun lesson while I cleaned the house. But a little too classic rock for my regular rotation.
was interesting background as I cleaned, but nothing I'll seek to put on again.
Meh. Country is country.
A classic fave.
Amazing!!!
I enjoyed this while I wrote to and from work today. But it's not something that I'm going to suddenly decide to put on sometime in the future
Oh another Steely Dan album. Just as good as any of the other Steely Dan albums that I listen to while going through this list. Because it's the same as every other Steely Dan album that I listen to and moderately enjoyed. I think that the list should start to filter out multiple albums by the same performer.
A long time favourite
Awesome classic album
Freaking awesome!!!!
Pretty.
Really can't get into it. Almost finished listening to it and having trouble putting up with it.
Not normally my type of music but I really did enjoy this.
This was really nice. Ended up listening to it twice. I get the feeling that Andy Shauf listens to Elliott Smith.
Self indulgent noodly emo prog-rock? An interesting listen, but not a keeper
That was delightful. I didn't expect it to be mostly instrumental, or at least that's what I remember it having been an hour after listening to it on my ride home from work, but it was great and I'm definitely keeping on my phone to listen to it.
I really enjoyed that. My girlfriend will particularly enjoy it the next time we're at the cottage
Never a big fan, but I enjoyed it.
Listen to it twice today. It was all right but not memorable enough for me to be able to tell you about any of the songs. Probably not going to leave it on my phone but I'll leave it on the hard drive
I played it while playing Fallout 76. It was a great background accompaniment. It's going to stay in the library if something that I listen to, but none of it is immediately memorable.
You can never say anything bad about David Bowie
At first I was oh great a country album, but then as it went on it just kept getting better and better. Of music. Going to leave it on the hard drive for the Sunday Shuffle.
Completely new to me. I enjoyed it. I think it needs a second listen
His voice was really annoying.
Great album.
Good old classic rock and roll!
It was interesting to hear that very popular single within the context of the rest of the album.
It was fun listening to the full album but I was never a big fan.
Pretty, pleasant, but bland
It was fun to listen to while I wrote to work and sat and checked my emails but 12 hours later I honestly can't recall a single song in any specific way. It was good but nothing to write home about
I had not heard it before, was very good.
I haven't checked yet but I got the feeling that these guys are from the same region as Mdou Moctar, and will be the second Tuareg guitar band Ive gotten into... I've checked, and they come from the country next door, 30 hours by car. Listened to it 3 times today, loving it, an now gonna look for more bands from the region. Listened to it twice more, looking for the vinyl now so I can take it to vinyl night at The Grand Trunk (my local bar)
That was a great cleaning the house album.
Classic
I had never actually gotten around to hearing this album. I had heard the single for decades. I quite enjoyed it and I will keep it in the shuffle
Awesome!
That was a fun album to listen to. I was out riding my bike while I listened to it and a couple of other gen xers smiled and started bopping their heads when they heard it
Generic'80s/90s punk. Is all right to listen to but didn't really do anything for me
Amazing album. I got to see it performed live from beginning to end last year.
An old faith that I have heard of hundreds if not thousands of times
Couldn't really get into it.
It was interesting to hear such a foundational metal album. I'm not really a metal fan though.
That was quite the treat! It was kind of like the Beatles And The Beach Boys got together and made an album.
Really couldn't get into it. I actually played it twice but both times I ended up not paying attention to it because I was not enjoying it
I had never listened to Sepultura before today. The hardcore metal stuff was hardcore metal stuff kind of undifferentiated from most other hardcore metal stuff. What really grabbed my attention was the interstitial pieces. The stuff that obviously differed from North American or european metal. Then it got to the last Hidden Track Canyon Jam. That one blew my mind. I'm keeping this album on my phone just for that track.
Classic.
I have not heard this one before. The other should be wider album that I'm familiar with as a great favorite of me and my girlfriends. I think this will be joining it.
I'm not even finished listening to it and I'm giving it five stars and putting it on the playlist for when I go up to the cottage with my girl to get real high and f*** all weekend
A beautiful album.
I heard the singles but not the album. It was as all Bowie albums are amazing
That was a pretty cool album
Fun. I hadn't heard good articulate rap in a while
It was nice but I don't know how it managed to qualify for the $1,001 albums list
I'm not a big fan of pop music. I understand why this ended up on the list because of how popular it was. But really it doesn't do anything for me
Awesome album with some great beats, very danceable
Absolutely Epic
James Brown is always fun to listen to.
A classic album for those that are into the genre
Wow! Just wow! An amazing album.
Gorgeous
Amazing album.
Nice but unremarkable
Classic
Having never listened to them before I can say that I understand why they became but it's popular as they did, and why they ended up in the book. But I did overall find it underwhelming
Meh. S'alright
I know there's one way too well because it's one of my girlfriend's favorite albums
I had heard a number of the singles from this album but never in the album in its entirety. I really enjoyed it and listened to it twice
Yet another Steely Dan album in this list. They're okay but it's getting a bit repetitively dull.
absolutely amazing album listen to hundreds of times over the years.
Superb
A previously unknown band for me. I quite enjoyed it and will listen to it again in the future.
That was so good that I have already downloaded their entire discography to work my way through this weekend.
That was a cute and quaint album. Going to add it to the romantic weekend at the cottage folder
The classic album that was genre defining. And it was enjoyable with my morning coffee.
I've never listened to a Grateful Dead album before this. I quite enjoyed it.
Such a pleasant listen for a Sunday morning.
I know it well.
I have not heard the songs on this album yet. I quite enjoyed it.
It was very metal, much crunchy noise. Honestly didn't like it very much.
It was fun to listen to that all the way through, I honestly don't recall hearing it from end end since the early 80s.
An old favorite
A pleasant listen late in the evening, but not something I'm going to seek out again
The fundancy Disco when I listen to it the first time loud, a pretty chill reading background when I listened to it soft
Great example of early Punk.
I had never heard it before. It was an interesting Fusion of Funk and punk.
That was great, I'd never heard the album or knew Goldie. Going to enjoy it on long bike rides.
I had heard songs from it but never the album it's an entirety. It was really nice! We actually listened to it twice in a row.
That was funky and fun.
I had never heard the album nor of the performer before. It made for a pleasant Sunday afternoon of playing backpack hero
Nice to hear all the singles in album context
Classic from my teenage years
It was good Punk. But didn't really move me in any particular way. I had a 40 minute bike ride home at midnight after a game of Dungeons and Dragons and it fit the bill.
Another standard Morrissey album
I had only ever heard the hit single Victoria before and it was at such a young age that I thought the song was just about a girl named Victoria; not the Victoria. Was very interesting album to listen to the theme was cool and I quite enjoyed it.
That was pleasant.
A well loved album
That was excellent! I had never heard it before and I will be hearing it many many times in the future.
That was a pleasant bike ride to work album
Meh. Nice but unmemorable
A wonderful Sunday morning with coffee album.
Beautiful.
A pretty epic album, great production.
Classic rock is classic rock.
Absolutely phenomenal album plated five times today.
That was pretty epic! So good that I not only listened to it on my bike ride to work, but I listen to it on my bike ride home from work.
That was unexpectedly awesome.
Listen to it twice. It was nice.
That was cute.
Fun!
That was technically and aesthetically a great listen; but it's not something that I'm going to come back to over and over again.
That was an awesome album that I had never heard of before. Not even heard of the artist before. Listen to it while I was writing to work on my bike and again riding home from work on my bike. I had people that adjusted the pace of their riding so that they could stay close to me bop their head and compliment me on my music both there and back.
I didn't pay very close attention while I was listening to this because things kept happening to distract me. But it did end up playing on a loop three times during that period and at no point was I ever dissatisfied with it. I definitely going to keep it on my phone and the next time I'm sitting down to read a book I'm going to put this on
Pretty, but unremarkable. I'll keep it on the main system for Shuffle but it won't go on a mobile device for choosing to listen to while on the go.
I ended up grabbing the live version of this. It was awesome.
Iconic from my teen years, I actually danced in the club to this.
That was an unexpected treat on a Sunday morning
Very pretty. I'd forgotten that this was a performer that all my lesbian friends used to listen to Back in the Day.
A classic album
That was groovy!
Loud. Banging. Good.
That was a blast from the past.
It started out as something that I didn't particularly like but by the end of the album I liked it. Ended up listening to it three times that day
Great album listen to it many times
I was never a big fan of Jamiroquai, but having this album Play on YouTube music resulted in me listening to another hour and a half of live songs. I enjoyed it
I don't know if it was a genre defining album or just another album in the genre. It was not memorable in any way. I tried listening to it a second time with my girlfriend that's into that kind of music and we turned it off three songs in.
I'm now a fan of yes.
That was awesome! I downloaded the rest of their discography and spent the rest of the day listening to it.
That was a fun and funky album. Some good covers not something I will actively seek out again but I will leave it in the shuffle.
Great album, know it well
Very pretty. Like quite enjoyed it. I will add it to the Sunday afternoon at the cottage with my girlfriend playlist
Meh. Pretty banal punk.
Always loved the singles I knew from this, great album.
That was quite excellent! I had not heard of them before but I'm definitely going to be hearing a lot more of them in the future.
It's Bowie...
Meh. Was good punk, but most of this kind of punk all sounds pretty much the same to me.
That was fun, knew singles but not the album
A great album. I have all of their CDs from back when they were popular.
Get another album that I had heard singles from but never the album in its entirety. Greatly enjoyed it nice to have in the collection
I have made out and had sex to this album easily a dozen times.
Yet again another album I had heard singles from but not the entirety of. it I'll keep it in the collection
