Reviews (page 2 of 14)
The thing about ABBA is yeah there's all those massive bangers on there but then even the album tracks slap too, even the really weird ones about kissing teachers. You just gotta love ABBA anyone who doesn't is a loooooser
10/10
I love their soaring harmonies and beautiful melodies. Perfectly constructed pop. Rounding up from 4.5 stars.
I'm soooo happy ABBA is my first album. FYI I'm a huge fan, so let's dive in.
Pop Gold. Say what you want about the frivolity of this band, they cracked the code for global popularity. Benny & Bjorn were geniuses in their production and the wives’ harmonies have to put a smile on your face. Sheer joy and fun. Although I wouldn’t be caught dead in that helicopter death trap.
Catchy as hell. 5.
Sounds like a greatest hits record
wat een fucking bangerplaat.
Amazing piece of pop culture
Brilliant stuff
Any album with Dancing Queen on it will probably get 5 stars from me
MWAH
álbum que tocava nas minhas viagens de carro para natal-rn na infância, impossível não dar outra nota a não ser 5. e como a review mais popular já falou, existem dois tipos de pessoas: as que gostam de ABBA e as que não sabem o que é diversão!!!
It's abba i literally can't give it any less
Блин абба очень круто
I mean come on, perfection. Maybe sentimentality is playing a slight part in my five star rating but this album is kind of a masterpiece regardless.
I feel like ive done these songs a disservice in the past by not listening to them within the context of the album. I think initially at Dancing Queen i was worried the bops wouldnt bop quite as hard but once we hit Dum Dum Diddle (they’ve kept her quiet!) everything felt cohesive and really just a treat to listen to.
I LOVE ABBA! What a delight, I hope there is more coming in this list
Incredibly difficult to rate an ABBA album, when my favourite way to listen to ABBA is through the “No, THIS is ABBA” playlist but holy dooley Arrival is stacked (though I bet I’d say that about every ABBA album). I don’t care that my review is clouded by my deep love for the band, this is a 5-stars.
ABBA is simple amazing! "Dancing Queen" is in the discussion for all time top songs. "Knowing me, Knowing You", "Money Money Money", and "Fernando" are go straight to their greatest hits collection. This is ABBA at their peak and I only want more. 9/10 album, but I'm bumping it to 5 stars.
Look man I just love ABBA
That was a refreshing, elegant, dancy fun album that breezes by. Glad I skipped up for it
Oh man, this just makes me really miss our friend Lisa who loved singing ABBA at karaoke and introduced me to a lot of their stuff beyond just Dancing Queen in the first place. I ended up having a lot of thoughts about this album so buckle in. We start of STRONG with When I Kissed The Teacher and Dancing Queen, which are both surprisingly interesting musically. Seriously, I never really focused on what's going on under the surface in Dancing Queen but there's so much interesting instrumentalism happening there. When I Kissed The Teacher has some super interesting chord structures that I was really vibing with too. Then, the album takes a downturn that I worried would continue through the end. My Love, My Life is just not that interesting and then I would describe Dum Dum Diddle as the first two words in its title. HOWEVER, the slump ends there and never comes back. Knowing Me, Knowing You is once again just so sonically interesting. Then I was singing and bopping along to Money, Money, Money and That's Me by the end of each track despite having heard neither before and famously being terrible with lyrics. Why Did It Have to Be Me has such a fun blues vibe that mixes so well with their weird disco-ness. Tiger comes at you so hard, Fernando rules (s/o to Lisa), and then we end on yet another intriguing and well-produced song with Happy Hawaii. This is a rare one I'm adding to my library, but I'll probably skip Dum Dum Diddle on the replays. (update: I've already re-listened to this and apparently I like Dum Dum Diddle now)

We love ABBA
More introspective and gentle. Favourite tracks: My Love My Life, Dum Dum Diddle
I love ABBA. That’s it, that’s my review.
I have to preface this review by saying I'm not a very big ABBA fan. I think they sound dated, too orchestral, and there it is just so... commercial somehow. Everyone likes ABBA, how fun is that. Now, to the album. I was debating giving this a 4 or a 5, but I think I'll lean into a weak 5. That they managed to get 'Dancing Queen', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Money, Money, Money', and 'Fernando' on the same album is quite amazing. 1/3 of the album is made up from some of their biggest hits. Quite a feat! The rest of the tracks were also no slouch - all of them were good. Perhaps apart from 'Why Did It Have To Be Me?' and instrumental 'Arrival'. While dodgy, I found 'When I Kissed The Teacher' quite a groovy track. Perhaps not a heartfelt 5 since it's not really my favourite jam, but I still recognize the greatness in this record.
I’m a big fan of ABBA. I used to think I was too cool for them, but I really am not. It’s just plain fun music. While the lyrics are sometimes a bit rough due to “Swenglish” translations (which can be quite charming), the music really shines. Arrival doesn’t include any of my absolute favorite ABBA songs, but even so, there are still plenty of great ones: “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” “Money, Money, Money,” and “Fernando,” to name a few. It really speaks to ABBA’s strength as a band that an album can feature so many well-known tracks while still not including my personal favorites. Maybe it’s not the best album ever, but I’m Swedish, I like disco, and I love ABBA! I’m giving it five stars.
I just want to have a good time to my fun Swedish pop
I've loved ABBA since I was a kid, listening at my grandmother's house. I know it's not for everyone, but it's for me! Whether that's nostalgia or not, I have to rate this a 5.
its abba. need i say more?
they really said 'what if we made an album with only bangers' and then just like did that
el album es historia, una obra maestra eterna hay algunos temas medio largueros o que no me encantaron pero los conocidos compensan completamente
ARRIVAL have very good songs, Solid Album
was away from my computer & could not take notes. fantastic album. disco? yes please.
LOVED IT!!!!
Moni moni moni🗣
Un álbum muy espiritual, me resonó en el alma las canciones sobre elección en el amor.
This is so peak
Album #65: Arrival - ABBA Genre (W): Pop, Eurodisco Singles: Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money, Knowing Me, Knowing You, That’s Me I have not listened to this album before. Thoughts?: I love the production of this album. How polished it is. The lyrics are also really good as well, they’re perfect for pop radio and timelessness! Favorite songs: All of it!!
If mainstream commercial pop music were still like this, I would have nothing to complain about. Although, I doubt someone would write lyrics as those of When I Kissed The Teacher today, which adds to the fun...
So good, all the classics on one album and some more! Had it on repeat.
one of my fav from abba gold aura
ABBA might be the only band to make great pop. I like to tell people I like pop, but I don’t really like "pop" I like alt-pop like Fiona Apple; ABBA is the one exception. They’re also the only good disco band.
amazing top tier
Incroyable - tout l’univers de l’album est dingue, avec des sonorités tres marquees, aucun mauvais gout
Fun pop album.
god i love abba <3
Onhan tää nyt legendaarinen, eikä syyttä, niin monta bängeriä että päähän sattuu.
<3333333333!!!!!!!
Awesome album full of hits! 9.1/10
Des chansons très reconnaissables, dotérs d’une grande richesse musicale.
quintessential
I openly admit to having a guilty love of ABBA but even if I didn’t … wow… what an album! Talk about having an album overflowing with talent and top hits!
This is some funny timing. I've been on a massive ABBA kick the past few months following a conversation we had at band rehearsal. It's cliche to say "Aren't ABBA brilliant?" but, aren't ABBA brilliant?
Hjerte: 5 Hjerne: 2 (det er svensk)
I’ll be honest: I used to be one of those people who dismissed ABBA as nothing more than bubblegum or cheesy Eurovision Pop, but listening to Arrival in full has completely flipped my perspective. It is, quite simply, pure pop perfection. From the iconic opening of "Dancing Queen" (the rare kind of song that opens to the back half of the chorus) to the surprisingly deep layers of "Knowing Me, Knowing You", every track feels meticulously crafted. The production is masterful, blending infectious disco rhythms with lush harmonies and even touches of Swedish folk. It’s the kind of music that fills a hole in your soul and makes it impossible not to move; even the deeper cuts like "Tiger" and the atmospheric title track "Arrival" showcase a level of songwriting sophistication that most modern artists can only dream of. For me, it’s a solid 5-star classic.
Ok, hear me out. This is a four star album, not a five star album. ABBA didn’t make albums; they made collections of songs. I haven’t heard this album since I was about ten, but I knew it well. And I loved many of the album tracks, like Tiger, Why Did It Have to Be Me, When I Kissed the Teacher, and Arrival. But the hits on this album were hits for a reason: they’re simple but clever and sonically layered. Pop perfection. Knowing Me Knowing You is a devastating song about divorce that masquerades as a disposable pop song, and then you realize how many layers of guitars are on this track. But five stars? This is a four star album. Indeed. But I could not stop listening to this album all day. It filled the hole in my soul. No other album on this list had that effect on me. It seemed insulting to only give it four stars.
The hits are undeniable so I was more interested in the rest of the songs. They were decent. I will say Dancing Queen is so overplayed that I’m kinda tired of it.
Its ABBA. Nuff said.
lessgoooo
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I mean...is there a bad song here? Honestly "Dancing Queen" might be one of the weakest lol (probably not, but it is overplayed). "When I Kissed The Teacher" is sooooo good! There are so many HUGE hits here. Liked Songs: The entire album, but ironically "Arrival" might be my least favorite song
Bangers
A scientific study said that “Don’t Stop Me Now” is the world’s happiest song. Those scientists are incorrect. It’s “Dancing Queen”.
It was Queen Elizabeth approved.
Perfectly structured and paced album that's great from start to finish.
Hits after hits and paced/sequenced really well - does feel like a proper album and just a joy to listen to, has to be a 5
I love all of these songs more than my own children. Truly firing on all cylinders. Going from When I Kissed the Teacher to Dancing Queen is a stroke of pure genius. Absolutely love it x
Anything ABBA immediately gets 5
Great sound, instrumental, voices, 1980s vibes, always liked ABBA. Money money money, Fernando, classic hits. Found a good underrated song Tiger.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but holy cow how many legendary songs can an album hold? Incredible record.
This album is just bop after bop.
I love ABBA, and this album is exactly why. They are, for me, the quintessential disco music. Dancing Queen, Fernando, and Money Money Money are all incredible and impossible not to move to. Filled with themes of love, obsession, and hope, this is a go to when you need a pick me up.
Cute masterpiece.
Ofc
mucho muhuco delicioso! ha partes questionaveis mas tipo SEM ANACRONISMO! I am behind you.
It turns out I love ABBA. Really fun and catchy.
Gold
Everyone loves ABBA
What a time to be alive to have this in my ears
I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed ABBA’s catchy and energetic tunes I this album. Great listen.
Now this is DISCOOOO i love this album its so fun and disco
Such perfect pop that even a progger like Mike Oldfield had to cover the title song!
What more can I say? Abba are pop legends! Even the (very few) songs I wasn't familiar with are as strong as any other song. A perfect album I fear?
God tier. Not a foot wrong. Joyful crafted pop with no cynicism or side, just shades of light and dark. No other album has left me in tears. Weakest point is "you're only smilin' when you play your violin." This edition even has Happy Hawaii and Fernando tacked onto the end. Just wow. Thank you ABBA.
Favorite Track: Dancing Queen
I can't believe I'm giving ABBA a 5 star review, but here we are. Is "Knowing Me, Knowing You" the healthiest breakup song ever?
I was excited to listen to this one. I've been a fan of ABBA ever since I was a child, but I've never gotten around to listen to their studio albums. I really should've done this sooner, because I really loved this album. Obviously 'Dancing Queen' and to a lesser degree 'Money, Money, Money' have gone down in history as some of the biggest, best known and most beloved pop songs of all time, but the other songs on this album are also great and worthy of praise. 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' in particular is a standout and in my opinion, it's one of the best pop songs ever written and performed. Just from a compositional standpoint, it's incredibly well written, and furthermore Anni-Frid Lyngstad's vocals just elevate it to being something truly exceptional. Other songs worth mentioning are 'My Love, My Life', which is a very beautiful ballad with a great vocal performance from Agnetha Fältskog, who is without doubt one of the best vocalists of her generation (along with Anni-Frid, of course); 'Tiger', which is one of ABBA's better rock songs, and finally 'Dum Dum Diddle' and the closing instrumental 'Arrival' which both incorporate elements of Swedish folk music in a way that is really fascinating to me. Also of worth pointing out is Rutger Gunnarson's bass lines, which in my opinion are just masterful and severely underlooked. Overall this is a very good pop album. While I don't think this album is without flaws, I still feel like it's pretty close to being perfect for what it's meant to be: catchy, easy-going and incredibly well produced pop which also rewards closer listening and musical analysis. 4.5/5, rounded up to 5
bangers all over this, really really good album, timeless record
so good
Listening to this album makes me feel 16 again! A happy, uplifting album to sing along with. Yes, I still know all the words!
It's hard to pinpoint why, but this album just instantly makes me happy when I hear it.
Such a good sing along - I grew up listening to this with family, at school discos, randomly on the radio. Great for a boogie. A couple of tracks I hadn't heard before and liked - 'When I kissed the teacher' and Tiger.
ABBA is legendary. What more is there to say?
Fun dance music
This album was just fantastic. I’ve always enjoyed ABBA and think they’ve got so many big hits. The vocals are outstanding, particularly from Agnetha – the notes they hit and the power behind it. The songwriting is very good in terms of structuring – a lot of the songs don’t necessarily follow what you think – verses or choruses being extended in ways you don’t expect. Obviously there are some smash hits on this album such as Dancing Queen – possibly their most famous song (that would be saying a lot). Other big hits being and Knowing Me, Knowing You and Money, Money, Money - one of my top picks from the album and from ABBA’s main hits in general. Very theatrical sounding and another great progression. I’ve noticed something they do especially in this song – you’ll get the first bit of the chorus, then it sort of tails off and you think it’s ended – then it comes right back to the chorus again. It’s very clever and almost feels like being tricked. And let’s face it – a very relatable track – who doesn’t want more money right? My Love, My Life is a beautiful little ballad. Nothing more can be said about how good the vocal delivery is. Full of emotion and soaring highs. Why Did It Have To Be Me is a great song musically – everything including brass sections work so well together, and is a great example of dueling lead vocals with Agnetha and Anni-Frid. I don’t associate ABBA with instrumentals but the title track is amazing here – it sounds sort of angelic as if you’re ascending to heaven or something. And I know there are vocals but there’s no words – so I would call it an instrumental. To sum up – fantastic album. Amazing vocal performances and melodies, songwriting. The vocals from Agnetha and Anna-Frid are so smooth sounding and I feel like I wouldn’t ever get tired of them. 5/5
Perfect pop album. Damn them to hell.
Love it! I already liked Abba so it's no big shock I enjoyed this album immensely!
Top album
Welthits
One of the first albums I ever heard in full. My sister had this on vinyl and we heard it all through the house over & over.
абба слоны слоняры всегда топ
❤️
DO YOU HEAR THE DRUMS, FERNANDO?!
Can't go wrong with ABBA
everybody was glad to know me today
How could there not be any ABBA in this 🙂↔️
Disconnect dies!
Beautiful. ABBA’s melodies never fail to take me to another place. There’s a reason they have so many classics that you still hear played
Love
Dancing Queen, Fernando, enough to give Abba 5 STARS
Can’t go wrong, makes me happy
sweds aren’t real
This album will forever take me back to the pool hall. Great songs, great vibes, great first album.
banger after BANGER ! i love ABBA so much.
wow they did it again. banger after banger, no notes.
Automatically happier When did i start dancing? Arrival…of a ray of sunshine
My first impression is that ABBA is one of those bands that is only "good" because of their Hits. Oh, was I ever so wrong. The beautiful singing, the array of instrumental play, the diversity of styles; this is a masterpiece hiding in plain sight. Favorite Track: "Dancing Queen".
Ja wat valt er te zeggen, bangers.
maybe im biased bc i love mamma mia and abba, like i know all the songs and they are all amazing like that movie made an impact in humanity and all the songs are like AMAZING. So yeah, mayba im biased but the power they hold is insane.
The "arrival" of 70s bright pop. Every song is a winner. 4..5/5
This made my day. What a hopeful, whimsical, nostalgic, and fun soundtrack for the day. It amazes me how much emotion this album brings me. It really is a classic in my book. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
FERNANDO!
5 - One of the greatest bands from that era of music
How can you give the album with dancing queen and Fernando anything less than 5 stars
Joyyyy Holy shit pop disco perfection. So many bangers, insane warm quality to recording that’s immaculately made. Genius is at work in these songs, songwriting is so fucking neat and satisfying, outstanding complex vocals and amazing interplay of bass with synths. Fun, makes you want to dance and feel so young and full of a sparkling cheeky kind of life. Insane hearing dancing queen in context, and what a fucking quality context it is. Just let go and enjoy this. If you don’t like this you’re pretentious or don’t have a pulse
Basically impossible to disentangle my feelings about this album from my affection for mamma mia
Gorgeous, amazing, fantastic, incredible. I'm dancing in the streets I'm spinning under and disco ball I'm tangoing with my 3 dads I'm sitting in a glass helicopter at sunrise with my best buds. The song Arrival is new to me and I love it! Favorites: Fernando, Knowing Me Knowing You, Arrival
# Album Name: Arrival # Artist: Abba # Rating: 5/5 # Comments: Some absolute behemoth tunes on here - dancing queen, knowing me knowing you, money money money. Low 5. Not quite up there with the very best but a great album. # Top Tunes: Dancing Queen / MMM / KMKY / DDD / Fernando / # Would I listen to it again? Yes
You simply cant go wrong with ABBA. this album has some of the most iconic tracks of the late 70's and was a huge leap forward in genre tying into that 80's pop sound
these DIVAS
I may be biased but my god. I LOVE abba literally grew up on them and they continue to make such good music. Every song had so much care and love poured into it and their voices YES!! Why did it have to be me? is still such an AMAZING song. 5/5
This is impeccable upbeat pop perfection. The singles are all solid, and pretty much all of the other tracks on the album could have been singles, apart from the title track which is like a folk-inflected closing ceremony for the album. The songwriting is concise, fun, impactful. The music is punchy and irresistibly catchy, with aspects of rock and disco, even one or two funk basslines in there. I used to hate this cheese back when I was young and cool, but goddamn nobody can resist this magic forever. 5*
Damn fine disco
Awesome album, you can never go wrong with Abba. Had fun listening to it
Album przywołujący dużo wspomnień, ale mocno zjechany przez kulturę popularną. Na pewno nie wrócę do przesłuchiwania, bo za Abbą nie przepadam, ale doceniam ogromny wkład w historię muzyki popularnej.
I loove abba! This album has soo many good songs
Arrival for sure, what an entrance to global super stardom! Incredibly fun the whole way through.
Absolute magic
Pure gold
1 song added to my favorites. Would listen again.
Five stars, excellent album. Bring out Meryl and Lily James
I came into this assuming it was a 3. After listening it was a 4. Sat on it about a month and kept coming back and listening and enjoying. I’ve gotta bump it to a 5. The GOATS of hooks. Influenced so much about modern pop. Look up the “give me a sign” episode of the Hit Parade podcast for a great breakdown of how abba led to max martin and the 90s/ 00s pop formula.
one of my all time favorite bands and albums. Abba and Mamma Mia have been super formative for me. I love them and this album!
I’ve heard the main hits from the album but loved learning some new ones! My favorites that I don’t think I’ve heard before were “why did it have to be me” and “happy Hawaii.” Also forgot about Fernando and knowing me knowing you so that was fun to relisten! 10/10
I love ABBA. To me they are one of the greatest pop groups of all time. Benny & Björn have a gift with melody/songwriting and Frida & Agnetha sing like angels. ABBA are top tier. Favorite songs: "That's Me", "Dancing Queen", "My Love, My Life", "Knowing Me, Knowing You"
Fantastic album. Listened to this album so much as a kid and it holds up 40+ years later.
Did they know? Did they know how insane this album was when they released it? I can't even Imagine what the studio must've been like when they recorded this
Home to a number of huge hits, quintessential sound of the late 70s
I've listened to a few ABBA albums though this one was the first time. God I love ABBA, it left me in such a good mood
catchiest album ever i love it how could i not. goktug says it’s dreamy i think its so ripe for bopping
banger after banger. If you don't like ABBA, I don't trust your opinion on music, simple as that. Basslines are fantastic. Money, money, money is one of my favorite songs ever. 5/5
Such great songs on this album! Most of my ABBA music knowledge comes from ABBA Gold, so it was fun to hear some "new" songs from them. Seminal listening!
Abba= classic. I really enjoyed the Broadway musical they made with their music. Dancing Queen. Money, Money, Money. Fernando. Need I say more?
Kiss the teacher is so cute
ABBA are just about unrivaled in their ability to make people want to dance and sing. Some songs are silly but between the basslines and catchy hooks they just commit to a premise and make it work. Half the songs on the album are instantly recognizable hits and the rest are pretty good too.
Boss!
BANGERS!
All gas no breaks
I always try not to "gatekeep" music. People who sneering insist that "you don't get it" if you don't like something or "well, because that track is at 102bpm it can't really be considered x genre". Music is for everyone, which means it's something different for everyone. I am however, DEEPLY suspicious of people who say "I'm not really into music." What? Nothing? Nothing that humankind has ever produced sonically appeals to you. I am also, quietly, slightly judgemental of people who get snooty about ABBA. My good god man - the costumes, the harmonies, the musicality. So what if it's bubble-gum pop - it is absolutely glorious and should be saluted as such. Side note - go and see ABBA Voyage. It is an absolute masterpiece
Love ABBA
ABBA does not disappoint.
Großartig
Holy shit do I love this album. I had no idea all the bangers on it, and discovered some ABBA hits I didn't know about. Absolutely amazing.
What a time. Had NO idea there was a scream in the background towards the end of Dancing Queen??? How have I never heard of this/been told it. Also are 'Why Did It hve To Be Me? and Happy Hawaii not like...the exact same song...HOW AND EVER. What a time. Dum Dum Diddle is the only dum note (get it) but it'd be hard to salvage a song with a name like that. It would really have to be out of sight excellent.
The first 5/5. Nothing but net
One Bop After Another
Mama mia! it’s ABBA!! banger record!
"Oh man ABBA, what a great pick! Love some very innocent and catchy songs" Me when I heard the first track: "SHE DID WHAT?" Okay, jokes aside, this album is fantastic. Everything here sounds incredibly. The voices, the melodies, the production... everything is top notch. Just the performances along make this a great experience. It also is incredibly catchy and memorable. In addition, ABBA is a band that has being present in almost my entire life. My parents use to listen to them a lot when I was a kid, and I even participated in an interpretation of the musical 'Mamma Mia' when I was in highschool, so it brings me good memories. I was thinking of giving it 4 stars, but after reading my own review, I convinced myself to give it 5.
A real.classic with fab tunes, thx!
Love the positive vibes
Class. Banger after banger
Amazing album filled with hits
oh to be 17 and the dancing queen once again
I think it must be likely that ABBA must be every music lovers guilty pleasure. I know that they are mine. Few groups must have the power to unite gangster rappers with classical aficionados or punks with Prog Rockers like ABBA do. Some might refute this but can’t deny they have whistled just a few bars of Dancing Queen or at least joined in the fun dancing to Mamma Mia at a wedding. I love this album for what it is. Straight forward pop music with enduring melodies with the power to make you feel happy. Who can ask for more? 5/5 21/10/25
Who does ABBA!
Shaky opening kissing a teacher, but you know what, maybe there was something in the air that night. Hell yeah! Love ABBA!
quality & also packed with hits love abba - 9.1/10
A very strong showing from ABBA. Possibly their best album – mostly in virtue of having both Knowing Me Knowing You and Fernando, separated by some very strong non-single tracks. A big element is nostalgia: those two singles I just mentioned take me back to my childhood, singing in the car with my parents. And they also benefit from not being horrendously, massively overplayed. But more than anything, ABBA just feels... powerful here. Confident. Poppy. Experimental – at least, compared to their other work. They haven't quite undergone the disco transformation (that would be in their next record), so their sound is still pretty timeless. I love the textures they create with their voices and the jangly, quick-witted piano lines. Plus, the melodies/hooks are fantastic here. This is one of the rare albums where I would say the singles (specifically Dancing Queen and Money Money Money) legitimately suffer from being overplayed. My Love My Life, That's Me, Why Did It Have To Be Me?, and Tiger are really solid tracks that outperform those two any day of the week. Tiger in particular has some excellent vocal layering and chord progressions, and My Love My Life is one of the group's prettiest ballads – again with some stunning harmonies. The title track is an exciting, grandiose way to end the album, and a darn good instrumental in its own right. Why Did It Have To Be Me? is one of the classic (partial) male-vocal ABBA tracks, and its catchy melody puts it on par with the similarly strong Does Your Mother Know, released two albums later. Happy Hawaii, while possibly the weakest of the non-singles, is a fun callback to Why Did It Have To Be Me's melody. Many consider this the band's greatest record, and I can see why. Everything is joyous, uplifting, and darn good. 5/5 Key tracks: Knowing Me Knowing You, Why Did It Have To Be Me?, Tiger, Fernando
Wonderful piece of music. Five stars.
Classic!
Perfecto, como Abba
4.7
Well, only a 5 will do here.
it’s ABBA! classic. are ABBA even capable of making anything less than a 5 star album? i think not.
Great obviously
I mean it's abba. THE Abba. That said, it's wild how little the album actually comes together. I don't know if the banger single after single is a product of time, or intentionality, but it's fascinating to see.
There was a priest at my school who was such a fan of ABBA that whenever he did assemblies he’d have Fernando playing on the panpipes as we walked in. He was a great teacher and it made me happy to think of him again.
W końcu
Cures dépression from going to office. Dancing queen, Fernando, Money money, money knowing me knowing you are bangers
I think we could solve a lot of the worlds problems if we just listened to more abba
ABBA is all about pure joy and this is one of the most joyful albums
Stunned by how the track Arrival ties everything together.
a classic record...
10/10, no notes.
Always a delightful afternoon with ABBA
I love ABBA
Just classic. Can't beat ABBA. A great listen all the way through.
great album, had me singing along at silly oclock in the morning before Id finished morning coffee. The BB of the group are quite ingenious with their production.
This is brilliant. ABBA is so much more than cheesy 70s pop. Something about the music makes me feel something I can't even put into words. It's almost evocative of something I never experienced. I can't explain it. Dancing Queen is possibly one of my favourite songs ever, and I'm a rock and metal kind of girl. Knowing Me Knowing You and Money Money Money are also really banging songs. I did get a laugh at Why Did it Have to be Me, because it sounds like The Wombles could have sung that one... not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. They truly deserve their place in music history. What a wonderful album.
ABBA are just quality. They are pinnacle pop song songwriters. Theres a reason if you play any of their multiple hits the room starts to sing along. Sure it's sticky and bright sounding, but with that actual Scandinavian darkness in the lyrics. If you hear all the songs on here and feel hate? Well the world is made up of all sorts I guess. 5 Star
Well, it's ABBA. Perfect '70s disco/pop music. One surprise for me is that Mike Oldfield covered Arrival on QE2. I knew his version like forever, but never suspected it to be an ABBA cover.
Absolute timeless classic. This is pop done right.
What can someone say about this group and this album which influenced so many, that everybody knows its songs and danced to death to it...Top quality pop.Their songs are still considered hard and complex to play or cover but their genius lies that are so easy to listen and connect to,so i will try to name a few of this album beyond the obvious: My love,my life has those dreamy, angelic harmonies although it talks about breaking up,like a friendly pat in your shoulder that everything is gonna be alright. Dum dum diddle has some Mamma Mia vibes in the refrain. Knowing me,knowing you was the third single out of this album but it's my favourite sorry. That nostalgia in the couples is unbeatable! That's me is my least favourite but boy how creative to have a badjo in it! Why it have to be me?Forget about the synths and the disco vibes, you get an American bar anthem all the way. Tiger has strong drumming making it epic! Arrival has a very familiar melody playing it like a bagpipe or perhaps it's really one in it.Epic. Fernando is a bonus track that starts as a gentle march. You can hear and feel the Andes influence in the orcherstation.Like a sweet lullaby with a disco twist..This song was a bonus in two countries,i remember one of them was Australia. Happy Hawaii(also a bonus track) starts off with ocean waves and it's a praise for Honolulu.Good stuff.
Gotta love Abba
the greatest to ever do it. bangers all the way through not a single miss
We already know. 6/5. 11/10. PERFECTION.
Great album! Enjoyed the songs growing up and still like them! First time I've listened to the entire album though!
AHAAAAA
This is pretty great pop music. Very singable, endlessly catchy and upbeat and just overall a joy. Dancing Queen is obviously the most well known song here, but I liked Knowing Me, Knowing You, Money, Money, Money, and of course Fernando, which is also a banger. Pretty good album, wanted to give it a 4, but I listened to this album back to back and it never really grew old, so 5 it is.
Прекрасный альбом, прекрасные песни, что ещё сказать! 9 из 10.
Love
Has to be given a 5, because it’s FUCKING ABBA. OFC people might find it bored or something they’ve heard before but it’s FUCKING ABBA. They have so many hits, ps I had my first kiss to mama Mia in the cinema. Making out underneath a jacket listen to something so seductive
Oh man, this gets my wife moving! She bought this new, spent countless days dreaming her school-years to Dancing Queen. She was the prototypical innocent teen girl, consumed by fairytales, royal weddings, and happily ever-afters. 37 years later, you’re damn right I’m her Prince Charming! And for that and for her, God Bless ABBA!
goat album. So vieli bangers uf dem album. Liebe vir allem Fernando. Eis vo mine lieblibgs abba albene!!
Still an amazing album
When I opened this, I knew immediately. This is going to be a 5/5. I am so excited! I love ABBA! Enough said.
evergreen good mood
I owe you an apology, ABBA, I was not familiar with your game. This is a fabulous album which made me have fun, think, and even feel emotions.
Banger of an album, high tempo beats, sing along songs, classic
Love it!
What is not to love!
So many classics
perfect blend of rock and pop. i love abba
Great album, has 3 huge hits and I am a fan of a few new songs I discovered. 4.5/5.
ABBA is awesome and I won't hear otherwise
All time classic
Infectious catchy from the start. A very much feel good album that highlights the strengths of disco in the mid 70s. Not quite sure what them Swedes were smoking, but must have been some good stuff, especially with some of the instrumentation, such as the bassline on "When I kissed the teacher" (in spite of its now questionable lyrics), or the powerful synthwork on the title track. Even outside of the hits like "Dancing Queen", "Money Money Money", or "Knowing Me, Knowing You", the rest of it is genuinely solid stuff. Give it a listen if you get the chance
good, unexpected new favorites, never listens to a full album of theirs before
Would rate it 6 out of 5 if I could. Banger after banger front to back, how did they do it?
Begrudgingly this is a 5. Many big tracks and if you want cheesy Euro pop, you are not going to find an album that personifies that genre more than this. I really dislike ABBA, but I can't say this is not a 5.
I'm a big fan of Mamma Mia so I figured I would like this. ABBA is amazing.
abba cadabra a good generated album !
so awesome so awesome thank you
Best Song: Fernando I always disliked ABBA for really no reason. I guess I always considered them to be poppy, bubble gum, music. And, they are, but in all the good ways. 5/5.
Well-crafted, beautifully sang pop.
I already know most songs on here.
Can't deny it, it's brilliant.
An album this iconic deserves 5 stars anyway but the clincher was rediscovery of a track that I heard once - maybe on a school bus? - and was entranced by. It was never released as a single but for my money it’s the best on the album. If you listen to nothing else, check out “My life, my love”
Peak pop music! timeless, catchy, great production, love it
Simplemente si
Some really great songs.
This album is absolutely packed with bangers. The hits we all know, but dum dum diddle and tiger are both awesome. The whole album is a winner.
I’m a sucker for the theatricality and melodies
Great album! Have surprisingly never actually listened to an ABBA album in full. Arrival is full of both songs I've heard many times, and new ones to me. I especially liked 'Arrival' as I didn't know they'd ever done instrumentals before.
Classic, glassy, intentional pop (with nonsense words), what more do you want from an ABBA album?
THIS is the ABBA I wanted. I was disappointed after listening to The Visitors Banger after banger. Impossible not to sing along to these songs! I knew all of them apart from 3 so it was very enjoyable Fernando is one of my favourites, that song should have never been a bonus track! Ultimate karaoke and party songs. Makes me want to rewatch Mamma Mia 5 ⭐️
Fabulous and just what I needed for a Monday morning. I often forget how much I enjoy ABBA until I listen to them. No skips, and I even put it on twice.
It's just that good
Great! That’s Me. Was a surprise.
10/10 bangers thru and thru
Saw the tracklist of this album and knew it was going to be 5 stars. Catchy and groovy music all the way through. Not a bad song throughout. Truly a fantastic album.
"The perfect 70's album doesn't exi-"
Well ABBA is ABBA, it can never go wrong. Easy and flowing good pop with some of the best hits of the bands. Although, I really didn't get the title track.
Had not ever listened to this album, but so many pop classics got to be 5 stars. Like The Beatles, suspicious of anyone who don’t like them…
Hit after hit I wish Eurovision had ended with them
# Playlist Track - Money, Money, Money # Notes - A super fun and interesting album which is completely overshadowed by "Dancing Queen". - With good reason! Dancing Queen is a masterpiece in disco history! - If you can get past that and enjoy some of the less-brilliant-but-still-awesome tracks, you're sure to have a great time. Recommend!
Iconic, feels nostalgic though it's from well before my time. Brings me home, and one of my wife's favourite bands.
Just about perfect pop music. Incredible melodies (like almost anything that comes out of Sweden except Meshuggah), tons of variety, exceptional songwriting, and strong performances. Only knock is the sometimes fuzzy 70s production. 5.0/5.0: Iconic
Already listened, always glorious
🇸🇪♥️ Avoir écouté l’album plus tôt mon fils s’appellerait peut-être Fernando!
Wow! Quelle pop de grande qualité. J’ai tout adoré. Dancing queen on est saturé, mais Fernando, Tiger, Money Money Money, knowing me knowing you. Juste des hits. Ils savaient faire un succès !
I’m not saying anything novel here, but the magic of ABBA is that they mastered writing sonically cheerful music about tragic/heartbreaking topics and that dissonance is absolutely 🤌🏼
ABBA’s cool as hell There’s a sense of urgency to their music that I can’t quite put my finger on but it makes it so fun to listen to
I did not realize ABBA put any albums aside from Gold?! Growing up I hated ABBA because it was disco, and disco sucks. But then you listen to Dancing Queen, and it’s hard not to get your groove on, even just a little (let’s be honest, it’s not going to to be just a little). Then you hit Knowing You, and it’s kinda infectious. Money, Money, Money is a classic, because it is a rich man’s world. And there is Fernando. Yum. This album, I was surprised by When I Kissed the Teacher, which I only remember from Mama Mia!, and Tiger, which is silly but groovy. When 25% of your Best Of comes off one album, you know it’s a classic. Disco still sucks but damn it’s good some days.
Classic 70s Europop, especially relevant this year 😁
10/10 - Dancing Queen is my jam!
gotta love mamma mia, the other songs weren't as good but that's probably bc I don't know them as well
One of their strongest albums. A lot of the main hits on it. Mamma Mia!
It’s abba 5/5 always New music I’ve never heard
Wore this album out as a kid with Christina Saracsino - love every song on this (including our flash mob to dancing queen a few years back)!
💯
we would not have pop music without abba full stop
Great album with some classic pop songs
So enjoyable to listen to.
An absolute banger of a pop album, no skips and packed full of absolute classics. This was my first time listening to this album through (although I obviously recognised the majority of the songs). I hadn’t heard “That’s Me” before and loved it. A standout song is “My Love, My Life” though. Will listen to this album regularly until I die, therefore, got to be 5 stars.
Loved this album so much fun !!!
Most fun you can have without taking your clothes off (optional)
I have always been, that cis white male, dancing queen, you know what a mean and she knows that you’re mean through all the shit that she’s seen
An absolute classic. The basslines, the harmonies, just awesome
Classic tracks, teeing up for my favorite ABBA to come!
i love ABBA
It's a terrific pop album, the singles are obviously the standouts (i'm including Fernando), but the album tracks, particularly on side B are also worth a listen. Dancing Queen is such a banger on it's own, I'm very happy I can give this a 5.
So whimsical and fun!
Listened on 5/23/26 5/5 Favorite songs: all of them (and obviously Dancing Queen which is my all-time favorite) My obsession with ABBA and Mamma Mia makes it impossible to be objective here but if you didn’t smile and dance while listening to this album then you’re a sociopath
Världsklass!
ABBA makes heartbreak sound like a Eurovision afterparty where everyone’s smiling through tears and champagne.
I'm sorry but I love this. Forgive me.
GIMMIE
I was 12 when Arrival came out and since I already had the rather prematurely released 1975 ‘Greatest Hits’. I trotted down to Woolies and gave them my £2.99. It was a great album and I loved it. But I was only 12. As I got older I was laughed at by my older step-brothers who were into hard rock and metal. I learned to hide my love for ABBA. I got into rock and metal. I’ve not listened to this album in 45 years (though I've abviously heard the mega-hits off it endlessly). And it’s still as good as I knew it was. So 12 year old me was right all along. Dancing Queen might be in my top 10 favourite songs of all time. And any other track on the album could have been a worthy single. I'm glad Fernando wasn't on the 1976 album at purchased by me, because I've always thought it was a bit duff. 'Arrival' is a perfect closing track so I would hope they didnt just tack Fernando onto the end of side 2 on the Aussie version like they have done on the Spotify stream. Do youself a favour and stop listening after 'Arrival' ends. Don't sully perfection. (edit. I managed to get through that review without once fawning over Agnetha. I'm so proud of myself)
PERFECT!!!!! BEST ONE YET
