Great album. Good playing seems like he was inspired and not chasing any trends on this album
Nods to his past while also looking forward. The music on The Stars are out tonight looks back to Moonage Daydream and China Girl while still being modern.
There is a vulnerability in his writing that maybe he was hinting at his end. It’s easy to read into the lyrics now after his passing.
Great playing. Good songs. A little overproduced with the weird sound effects in the songs. It seems like they are trying to hard to be more than just being a great band. A lot dad songs but I’m okay with that.
I also think this album is a victim of the time it came out. Radiohead was in full experimental mode so that really pushes people to do more.
This first piece was not for me but it seemed as I got past the first one the next two pieces were more to my liking. The playing is brilliant. Just beautiful music that is soulful and heartfelt. This is one of my favorite albums I have listened to so far. A cohesive brilliance harmony and melodies are evoking emotions in me that I can’t explain. A really good album. I could listen to it again.
I hear the prog rock. It’s okay. There are so many different things I hear as I listen to I hear some Bowie as I listen some Elton John and it all kind of works. I knew the name Supertramp more than I knew the music. Is it my favorite? No. Is it good? yes. I’m not going to add it to my playlist though. I’m glad I heard it.
If you only thought of The Red Hot Chili Peppers as Rap Rock or just funk it would a mistake. They hit their full power on this album writing beautiful songs and catchy songs. It seems like they were reaching for stardom they wanted to achieve and they arrived. Give it Away, Under the Bridge, Suck My Kiss, Breaking the Girl as main songs. But Keidis sang more which helped move away from the days of The Uplift Mofo Party Plan.
Zombie is an amazing record. Music is just so well done. You really get drawn in. Then come the lyrics. You really focus on the words because the groove is so good. This music caused a raid on his compound and a riot at a concert. Such power.
So if I would have guessed I would never thought that this is the same band who would write Come on, Eileen. The music is good. Not sure if I like the lyrics. I really am not a fan of the singing and he really is overselling the singing I guess according to wiki like Bryan Ferry because a band member didn’t like his original singing voice. I’m not a fan of this. But it was good to listen to.
Willie Colon and Ruben Blades created a masterpiece of an album. When I heard the opening of Plastico I thought they were dabbling in disco a bit before the salsa groove kicked in fully. Baldes’ lyrics speaking a sort of social commentary on material wealth. This is still relevant today. Most of these songs are timeless and just beautiful written. The music is played well arranged perfectly. I can see why this album is listed as the top on so many lists. It’s just so good.
A good album. Not sure if any one track stands out on the album. To me the album could be put on in the background and not really disturb the vibe of a party. Not sure if you can really dance to this but you can really hear the early 90s production in the music. Nothing wrong with as these some good times for me. But all the songs kind of sound like everything that was being released at the time. Nothing hits me on this albums like their earlier hits but that’s okay because bands are allowed to evolve. My October Symphony was good. I actually enjoyed the music on that one. So Hard picked up the bpms a bit. I read that the music would grow on me. I think I could see that and also that they were influenced by Depeche Mode. I can hear that as while. Not a bad album. I enjoyed it overall.
A really good album with a band who was finding their sound. I am glad I heard this album because I had only heard the bigger albums. I’m a fan of this album. It’s great. I think A Forest is goth paranoia at its finest
An interesting album because it was the first released after Richey Edwards went missing. I remember watching either a true crime thing about his disappearance or maybe a documentary. That is a sad story for another day but this is about the music. This is probably the second time I tried to listen to their music. The first was after having watched the documentary. I’m not sure I enjoyed it then or I should say it was not memorable to me. The music was like any other Britpop band that was around at the time. Maybe a little better lyrics but maybe not as I still listen to A Different Class today and I probably wouldn’t listen to this again. I listened three times today and nothing stuck with me. It could be the singer’s voice. If it doesn’t resonate with me then I won’t listen again. The music is good. I can say that but I guess I just can’t get into it.
My second time hearing this album fully through. It’s decent and I can understand the genius that goes into putting warmth into synthesizers. They gave them a feel. It wasn’t as robotic as it came off. Kraftwerk would be instrumental in early hip hop especially for Plant Rock. Afrika Bambaata found their music sampled and created an anthem that would be a staple in the electro genre. But on this album as I got to the Man-Machine. I was sitting racking my brain because I knew another hip hop group had used it in a very early song and turns out it was Rockin’ It from the Fearless Four. Kraftwerk are an important group. This album though was decent. I did not find it mind-blowing. But Kraftwerk and hip hop go hand in hand.
A good album. I remember listening to this so much when it came out. This reminds of Washington state because that’s where I bought it. Good music. Great video.
A brilliant album that captures a a soul singer at the height of his powers. Sam Cooke was masterful. He could sing the pop tunes like Cupid and Twisting the Night the Night Away but where this live album shines is it catches the emotions of the soul in songs like Somebody Have Mercy and Nothing Can Change this Love. You get the raw emotion. You also hear the crowd getting involved. This makes the recording seem more like an experience instead of just a record. Sam Cooke’s voice was perfect on this album.
Good album with good music. Interesting music styles.
A Gen X classic. Probably not my favorite Pearl Jam album but listening to this today reminded me of how good they were coming out from the very beginning. Yes, Stone and Jeff had Green River and Mother Love Bone to learn to write songs. They put it all together adding Mike McCready to the mix with Eddie on vocals. It all just worked. It sounded old and new at the same time. Just an amazing album. No skips on this album. I forgot how good it was until I listened today.
Not sure if I can really say I liked much about this album. Messages in a Bottle is good and Walking on the Moon is as well. The rest is just kind decent playing with bad lyrics.
