The sound's decent but doesn't really speak to me.
One that's actually part of my library already. Possibly because it was the first thing from The Strokes that I heard, but I'm still partial towards First Impressions of Earth instead. However, Is This It is still great and will continue to have a place in my library.
An absolute classic.
Nor here or there. I didn't hate listening to it but at the same time there was nothing for me to get excited about.
I have listened to the In The Court Of The Crimson King before, and as more of a Floyd fan, I expected to give this a 4/5 during the relisten. However, this album is so good that I don't think I can give it anything less than 5/5. I remembered it being good, but it's actually just great.
More enjoyable than I would've guessed, with Express Yourself being the standout track.
Easy listening but it didn't really do much for it.
Pleasant sound.
An album that I was not aware of before but one that I can definitely call great.
I don't think I've ever listened to Led Zeppelin IV front-to-back despite knowing songs from it, but it's pretty great from start to finish.
I don't absolutely hate it but I don't really find it that interesting and it feels a tad bit long-winded and not that interesting to listen to.
Very comfortable listening.
Alright listen.
This is a lot more enjoyable than I would've guessed.
A cool sound and quite the relaxing listen.
I wouldn't call it bad but it doesn't really click with me.
Perfectly listenable but not particularly exciting in terms of electronic music.
Good album with some great standouts.
Very smooth, relaxing.
It's been a long time since I listened to Music For The Jilted Generation and it's much better than I remembered. Definitely not the best that The Prodigy has to offer and a bit long-winded at points.
Feels a bit "eh". It’s not a bad sound but I’d struggle to name a single thing about it that I liked. Probably wouldn’t listen to it again, and if it came up on the radio or on shuffle, I probably wouldn’t even realise.
Not really the type of music that I'd normally seek out, but it's a pleasant listen. I think the remaster version might be padding out the thing though.
The music's alright, probably a 3/5 on that front, but the recording quality is quite poor and that distracts from the experience quite a bit.
Not really a thing I would seek out, but it's extremely pleasant to listen to. The RevOla remastered release also sounds great for a 66-year-old record.
I quite liked Lexicon Devil but rest of the album was more in the "eh" range.
Extremely average.
I’m generally not the biggest fan of tracks with a runtime of >10 minutes and I hadn’t ever heard of Czukay, so I went into this with relatively low expectations – but this album was a pleasant surprise.
Fairly relaxing.
I actually listened to Hunky Dory right before I started my 1001 Albums Generator project and quite liked it. I've yet to listen to everything by Bowie, but from all of the albums that I've listened to, I think Hunky Dory might actually be my favourite one. Not sure if I would say that everything on it is great, but rather everything is good with individual standouts like Changes or Life on Mars.
It's not awful but "Must Hear Before You Die"? If we're limited to 1001, then there are definitely better candidates not yet included. My dislike for this album is also greatly enhanced by the fact that the digital versions of this album basically repeat themselves, making it even worse for listening to in an album format.
It's been a while since I listened to all of Wish You Were Here and I remembered it being a solid 4/5. But relistening to it, it's actually even better than I remembered.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond is way better than I remembered, Welcome to the Machine is fantastic, Have a Cigar is one of my all-time favourite Floyd songs and Wish You Were Here is absolutely beautiful. Zero filler even though Shine On You Crazy Diamond runs for 26 minutes in total, and I'm generally not a fan of extremely long tracks.
I think I'd be lying to myself I gave this anything less than 5/5 when everything about it is so great. Even the cover art is iconic.
Uninspiring. And when it comes to rating this as an album, the remastered digital release I listened to is padded out with several versions of every song, diluting the experience further. Could've left that to a special edition or something.
Very middle of the road, slightly sleep-inducing.
I am sure there is an audience for this album, but I mostly found it a chore to listen to.
Was quite worried when I saw "The Cure" pop up, since I've already been given Pornography, and that album wasn't that good. However, this was actually a lot more pleasing to listen to.
Relaxing listen.
I wouldn't have thought it to be my cup of tea, but even for a 70-year-old album, it's still pretty fantastic.
It's not that interesting.
I think the best I can say about this is that it didn't hurt my ears or offend my senses. But it certainly isn't an interesting album. Perhaps it was influential back in 1968 but does nothing for me in 2026.
More enjoyable than I would've guessed but at the same time it's quite long with way too many interludes.
Perfectly listenable but quite generic.
Better than I expected.
Some tracks were pretty fun, but at some point it stopped being fun and started dragging on.
Good sound.
It's fine rock but I'm generally not a fan of live albums.
About as sophisticated like a bat with nails on it and hits as hard as one.
Decent groove.
Didn't make myself as a country fan but this is quite smooth and relaxing.
It's like a rap album and an audiobook had a malformed baby.
I feel like this album isn't mixed all that well and the music's generally really not that interesting. Not bad but there's nothing here that would motivate me to relisten.
Smooth as all hell.
I wouldn't call it super interesting, but it's pretty decent as lounging around music. Definitely not active listening type album.
I'd rate The Wall as not only my favourite Pink Floyd album, but as one of the greatest albums of all time. If I think about what are the best albums that I have ever heard, The Wall always comes to my mind.
Still not a fan of live albums.
Harder than I expected.
Smooth, relaxing.
Not awful but not really what I’d consider to be good or mediocre either.
Awful cover art though. Who came up with this shit?
Eh?
Bowie is definitely well represented in this book (or rather books considering that even ★ snuck in a later edition). Personally, "Heroes" doesn't really do much for me. It's perfectly fine listening but I, as not of a Bowie fan anyway, think there's better Bowie records.
I liked it. I don't even mind Free Form Guitar, although I might skip it on shuffle.
I imagine this was a lot better in the 1960s.
This is a hard 3/5 if I've heard one.
I think this might be the first album past the original 2005 edition of the book that I actually enjoy properly. Maybe those later editions aren't a complete waste of everyone's time.
I'm not a fan of live albums in the first place, and as far as live albums go, this isn't a particularly good one. It also goes on for too long.
It's okay, but that's about as far as I'd go.
The cover art might be better than the album.
Seems like very generic pop-rock.
I was expecting some very bad metal from the album cover, but it instead was meh rock.
Better than I expected.
I can understand its inclusion on the list while listening to it, but it doesn't necessarily do that much for me. I imagine not being American doesn't help.
Meh?
I usually dread whenever a new album comes up on this list, but this is chill.
This is the most violent jazz I have ever heard in my life. I don't know if it's cheating that I took a break in middle of listening. I get the feeling that John Zorn intended me to be battered for 40 minutes straight. Maybe that's why I consider this to be kinda brilliant. And insane. Much better than the 68th mediocre, 3/5 pop-rock album. I guess I just like jazz way more than I previously thought?
Some of you have basically no sense of adventure, no desire to venture out.
Very good but I'd say it's still more of a 4/5 to me than a full 5/5.
It's alright.
Had a hard time deciding between 3/5 and 4/5.
I think this was quite an enjoyable listen.
Starts out dogshit
Then gets less bad
Never gets good
I was expecting to give this a 1/5 after having heard Sepultura's Roots earlier during the project, but no, this one's actually good. Imagine my fucking surprise.
Can't say I much enjoyed that.
I imagine this would have been even better had it been recorded at a studio, but it's still great.
“Self-indulgent” is the first word that comes to my mind listening to this record.
I hope the tickets weren't expensive. At no point during this half-hour concert did I feel like I'd missed out because I wasn't there. At least the recording quality isn't dogshit.
It's a pleasant listen.
Banger of an album.
I can't understand on what merit this album got onto the list by listening to it.
I really didn't need to hear about how much sex this fat asshole was supposedly getting.
I expected worse since this is the single worst rated album on this site, but it was thankfully not that bad. It's just normal bad.
The music is quite good, but there's waaaay to many interludes.
Quite decent.
Pretty chill and enjoyable, actually.
Boring album with too many interludes.
I'd say that this is the worst Talking Heads album in the book, but that the worst Talking Heads album is still worth a solid 4/5.
Chill but nothing special.
Could be worse, but it's pretty fucking long and stale.
Who could hate this album?
I'd never ever go out of my way to go look for Hindustani classical music, but it's a hella relaxing listen.
The Prodigy's magnum opus.
It's weird but I don't hate it.
While I can appreciate the fact that Rundgren played most of the instruments on the album by himself, this album vastly overstays its welcome.
Couldn't get into it.
I am still of the opinion that there's too much Bowie in this book.
The recording quality on the version I found was quite bad. I hope there are better versions of this album out there, since it's a decent listen.
I liked it at first, but then it got kinda repetitive over time.
Very middle of the road. Also a pain in the ass to find.
It was a decent listen.
I'd say that this is the best one of the Kraftwerk albums on the book. It's a solid album, but it’s now confirmed that this experiment has not turned me into a huge Kraftwerk fan.
