1001 Albums Summary

I have heard this many times over but it has some great tracks on there as well as a bit of fill. Its a little over long but the standout tracks Honey, Why does my heart feel so bad Natural Blues and porcelain are worth it. I also like the instrumentals like Everloving and the banging Bodyrock is also a grabber.

I have heard this album before too. I really like the melocholy of Morrisseys lyrics and upobeat sounds of Marrs Guitar. I was too young to get into them first time around so never seen them live however this is an exceptional album. My light stays on for them

Another I knew well. Love the heavy Tom Morello guitar and the venom spitting the lyrics a real call to arms. F you I won't do what you tell me.

Soulful Marvins voice is great here and I like the accompanyment with the talking bits. tight band some stand out tracks. A pleasent listen.

I like Tracy's voice Ive heard it before but its been years and was nice to revisit it. Revolution song speaks volumes and Fast car is a classic. Most songs are great nice easy listen and chilled out vibe with an acoustic feel.

U2 get bad press but I liked this admittedly its a little over long and drifts off towards the end but Sunday Bloody sunday what an opener.

John Lyon is a little heavy at times some aspects were great nice beat tight band but some was wailing. You had to be in the mood for a lot of it not bad

I like Kanye West or Ye and a rapper I like his tone. I have his first 2 albums and Yeezus but lost interest in his later stuff. This album passed me by has some great songs on there however tails a bit off at the end and over long. A pleasant suprize.

I really liked this chilled acoustic vibes nice voice well visit more of his back catelogue.

Awesome love Massive Attack nice beats blend between singing and rapping chilled out but pionient.

Like Billy wander over the minor e fantastic. Like his guitar plucking his voice his attitude regarding unions and his politics. this was however a little long and samey.

It was ok some nice songs but didnt grab me be interesting hear more from them.

Not my thing hate Jazz normally but this was quite liked this it was chilled

I dont mind the odd Blues track Boom Boom Boom Boom but they all sound a bit samey and got tedious on this album.

Really liked this. Chuck D is a great rapper love the samples and mixing and production. Flava Flav just ruins it at times with his shouting and blurring out nonscense.

No Back in Black but i love the trade mark sound of ACDC the stops the riffs. I even like later albums rock or bust for example.

Needed this today after two blues albums back to back. It had a Metellica feel to it without being all out metal more of a punk twist. It started very well then got so unbelievably samey. It just stopped registering it became white noise.

Not the best but has that nice beat to most songs and catchy rawness that makes Depeche Mode

its ok quick guitar and energy is always welcome but its a bit much at times Bruces voice is a little off and not many lyrics. It does what it says on the tin I suppose but Maiden have done far better albums.

Yeah I like it weird psychadelic at times but good voice very spiritual. It reminds me of the Flaming lips

Pleasantly suprised I like the odd Bjork song but found her a little too weird and skreetchy at time but this albulm is great nice blend of dance, pop and compliments her sweet tones rather than skreetchy ones.

Not really my bag not stood the test of time however appreciate the voice and the musicianship.

Not bad a little slow in places easy listening

Rocky you have to be in the mood but at least 3 or 4 great songs on there. Even flow, Alive and Jeremy especially good. its just a bit over long and a little self indugent for a rock album.

Good voice over dramatic at times

People rave over Chris Cornal and yes some good riffs here but not ground breaking Black hole sun is a masterpiece but the rest blends into one

I quite liked this old school rock however it left me a little empty. It had all the ingredients but just didn't resonate

Its well put together and I enjoyed it although not sure it left a huge impression well not as much as I would have liked being McCartney. Having said that the band tight and his voice is good got lots of hooks, thrills and spills its no Beatles obviously but its solid enough

I really like Zep. Plants voice may grate some people but its rock n roll. jimmy Page is arguebly the best guitarist in the world with his licks which this album is full of. he manages to play lead and rytham effortlessly and the drums are so tight by Bonam arguebley the best drummer in the world at that moment in time.

Soulful no superfly but I enjoyed it

Too experimental for me 8 min tracks too long without much diversity. I can see why some people like it and there are the odd sample mix that sounds good but overall not my thing.

Classic Album first full album I heard of the Beatles and was hooked it flows very well and the songs are timeless.

Pharells voice is great its got a sick beat to most songs its well worked not really my genre but I was quite suprised in a good way.

Good 80s synth i saw samples from other songs I had heard like basement jax which was a suprise. good voice and vibe

A good album and a sombre feel to it before his death. Some of the songs have a melonic tone and his voice is good throughout. It is just enough to not over egged or overdone.

Not entiley my thing some aspect with the array of instruments was fantastic and the tempo and voices are good. It just has that combine harvester wurzles feel about it that niggles me a bit.

Hate Jazz like a cat on a piano and parping

Michael voice is on point. I love REM since being a kid and their early stuff really resonates with me.

I love Lordes delivery on this album her voice is on point and she uses it as a instrument in itself. The tracks are solid especially Green Light it is a clever pop song with simplisity in the chords but made so much pionient with her voice married to it.

Not a huge fan but the slap bass and stand out tracks makes it a good album.

Really like this it has a nice flow. I like his voice and it's rock but not over done with unnecessary solos. Nice riffs and tight. I will listen to more by them

Brilliant Dylan writes the most impressive Lyrics and folk based guitar and delivery marry so well. It took me years to appreciate how good he is and this is a prime example.Story telling hazy folky poetic

A little overlong and some tracks are bleeps and samples of a min or so. Roundabout is fantastic and some of the tracks are ok Prog rock but nothing to write home about. some anoying piano on some tracks that is unecessary

Was not what I was expecting real bluesy tones. I did not however appreciate 14 min tracks but I do think its a decent album more of a background affair though

suprised at first not my thing but grew on me.

I hated Metallica until hearing this album. This took me by the hand a softly popped me into the chaos. Kirk is excellent on guitar throughout, James vocals are fantastic it is littered with great songs unforgiven, Through the never, enter sandman all amazing so is sad but true and where ever i may roam even the ballad Nothing else matters is a great song. Good stuff thatstood the test of time a gateway into the heavier stuff and pionners of the rock mainstream cross over.

The Bowie infulence is strong with this one. I like Iggy even the Stooges stuff but there are some great stand out tracks Passenger, Lust for life definetley up there.

I liked this. Amy had such a soulful voice and the production is great. her voice was one of a kind. It is not strictly my sort of genre but i appreciate it.

Great stuff from the Boss. Love his tone and his blue collar rock and roll. Some great storytelling here in these songs that paint a picture and takes you away. The guitar is also great and complements his voice.

Great Album I love Toni Iomis riffs and Ozzys voice is bang on. It has stoofd the test of time and gives its own dark edge to Rock. A real classic album that everyone should listen too at least once. R.I.P the prince of Darkness Ozzy a true showman on and off the stage.

I think he has a great voice but a little over the top at times with the theatrical. Want One was a better album this seems a little like the stuff left over.

Norman at his best. I remember growing up with this album in the 90s and being at college. I was into Rock, pop, hip hop and unfortunately happy hardcore. This and Moby really changed the landscape of dance music. The mixing an sampling is fantastic and even when he writes a song like Praise you with it's awesome video it just rocks. Build it up tear it down at the beginning of Human Traffic really showed how influential Fatboy slim is to the dance culture. A fantastic album.

I liked this I like a reggae beat and this ticks boxes. Bob has a decent voice and the Wailers are tight. Nivce vibes for cooking to and bobbing around the disco its pleasant but not amazing but its not my first choice of genres.

Psychodelic Electronica!!! I liked it I didnt know much kraftwork beforehand but they were well ahead of their time. The odd track was too advengarde for me but it was overall very good. Will check out more

Really good does what country does best. Story telling

Typical Rod really. Maggie May is one of the best songs he wrote if not the best so it's at least a point for that alone. The rest is not bad bit Dad rock he isn't really my bag don't like ehis voice much and he is a bit of a perv to say the least.

Its got a heavy beat which you expect but it lacks in places. The Riffs are there and tracks like One which is a favourite of mine are outstanding but that is One exception. It Thrashy which you expect but musically metallica are better than this. its okay however the Black Album Metallica and even the live S & M version with strings and an Orchestra offers a more sophisticated and generally better version of them. Yes its Metal but thrash thrash thrash can be lazy and with songs like One and others they are better than that.

I remember this album first time around. Love the chimbes of Squiyes guitar and lyrics and delivery of Brown. Some classic songs Waterfall, She bangs the drum and Reserection. A must for a MADchester Factory experience from an established band great baggy beats from Remi and super catch riffs

Heard this before it in with the four albums I have a anytime for from Muse. I like the UFO gimmick they use behind everything but Matts voice can be far too wailing at times. There are some stand out tracks the singles Knights, Starlight etc Map of Prob is also extremley good invincible is ok too. However its all a little preachy and his voice skretches on the ballads and he doesnt carry it well. The drums, Bass and Guitar from the trio are tight especially the drumming and Matts solos are a bit hit and miss. Its okay but not stood the test of time for me. I also found myself disappointed the few times I have seen them live all atyle over substance.

It is okay just a bit dated nothing memorable really bit wishy washy nothing exciting or ground breaking yet not offensive.

Another perhaps not lasted the test of time it is an interesting listen and quite pleasent they compriment each other well and harmonise well. A good listen all around. However not really my bag overall

Away from contriversy about what he did otr didnt do and looking at this as an album stand alone so to speak .Some of the singles still have a decent beat. They are i agree cheesy and dated but for nostelgia they do hit the spot. Nice basslines nice beats his voice although not the best fits well. However some of it is pure dross away from the singles Liberian girl for example is woeful.

She has a voice like Bjork meets Courtney Love. It's punchy and punk but it's also a bit boring too at times. A bit samey and I can't bsee me listening much to this again.

It's okay not fantastic some of the instrumental are annoying and it's over long and dated I got a lot bored.

Hard work screeching noise. The riff on the first track was groovy kind of awesome in places. The rest was just a mess if I am honest hard to listen to rough noises hard work I get it's experimental but geez have some cohesion I like a heavy track and a beat but this lacked anything like that.

I like Dolly and her country twang. The good thing about Country it's telling stories and she tells them we'll her voice is excellent. I liked Travelling man it's a favourite of mine

I like getting the Led out every now and again this is a good album. Nice riffs I like the slow down versions and less manic stuff where Plant shoes off his voice. Not a patch on IV but still a good one.

It's not bad Jake's voice is pretty good in places. Laura, Mary and Take your mother out are all good solid tracks. However that Comfortably Numb cover is dreadful I couldn't remember it being so bad. I can see they tried jazz it up and put glitter on it but geez they butchered it.

I found it dated. It has not stood the test of time. It was pleasant enough but equally forgettable. It didn't however offend me just OK

Gritty bassy pumping nice riffs Iggy Pops vocals are also great, Its just a little samey it blends a little too well for me.

Outstanding Disco album. Will Smiths go to for creating his own music. Danced around with the Vacuum on a Sunday doing housework to this classic. I'm the greatest dancer. Good beats nice vibe good vocals loved it

Love Karen O her voice is just a melting pot of emotions that drag you in. Like a duvet the band are tight you can hear different emotions coming through some great songs on hear Zero, Skeletons and Heads will roll. I really liked the acoustic versions and how it stripped back to reaveal her voice more.

Not a huge prince fan it normally look how great I am and how women love me etc etc and the length of the last song the title track filled me with dread. However there are some great soulful tracks on here along with some poppy disco greats his voice is really good on this too and as well as the singles i didnt really dislike any track its good. I do not know how often I will return to it as a collective album but I liked it.

Decent very Bruce Springsteen I like the old rock n roll country american blue collar vibe to it.

Some good pop hits Beat it is fantastic love the riff. Thriller is timeless and catchy but there is some drivel on here too.

hypnotic beats I was going on a bike ride and this pulled me through. As a stand alone it seemed a little dated a good beat behind it but not much else at times . I expected more not for me

Very honky tonk. some elements are good you have to be in the mood I like story telling through lyrics and this has got it but it does grate a bit after a while.

Brilliant loved it then love it now. Still seems fresh great riffs good vocals and beats lyrically good. Cool alround it kicks in all the right places

Rock opera at it's very best. It's a masterpiece at times great voice great arrangement and production. Bat out of hell the song is a full on in your face wake up and enjoy anthem. Two out of three is agood ballad and paradise by dashboard light is a solid duet that you can't help move to. There are some weaker points it is beginning to sound dated and it has some nothing song on there but even for the boom intro. It's worth 4 stars. It's like nothing else

Shouty shit. It does have a good bassy driving riff and beat to it but the vocals are whack in my opinion. It like RATM with nothing to say well screetch.

Not as I remember Super logic and Radiator out shine it some of it was wailly and a little bit much for me at times.

Absolute Class in all senses of the word. A fantastic album by a fantastic band. I love this 90s classics galore and Javis is just legendary as a front man. Great lyrics, great style tight band whats not to like

Not bad started a bit slow but picked up at the end

Has a distictive AC/DC style riffs even touching on Quo especially coming in from track 1. However thats the genre its good old play a tennis racket as a guitar rock n roll. crowd pleasing stomp. I didnt mind it I think Slade get a bad press as a glam rock joke but they did produce some decent songs and not just a novalty rock band. Although the vocals let this down at times kinda shouty and the lyrics are minimum but its rock out bouncy so has its place in my playlist of life.

This is surprisingly good. A little prog rock/ grunge and dated however it rides the wave set by Pearl Jam with hints of Rage Against the Machine and Linkin Park which isn't a bad mix. I don't mind it it's well put together and flies well good vocals and thrashy sounds however it's not good enough to have a place in this list it is wishy washy and a little meh at times despite all its good points.

A good album overall. It does dip a bit and it blends a little however some standout tracks

Shout NYC hip hop. That's not a criticism it's an observation. I like the Beasties I like MCAs squeaky yeahhh boi style of rapping. I also think it marries well with Mike D low tones. The samples are great on here it's no License to I'll or Hello Nasty and not as polished as 5 boroughs but it has a gritty rough appeal it's likeable but it does grate at times. As it is soon raw.

Started of it sounds dated and a lot of the N word and homophobic references which seem a little wrong in the year 2000. I mean Eminem may have said them in the 90s playing the Slim Shady Characters but no excuse here. Then the later songs it got better and old school vibe well delivered and great rapping especially when the woman came in they helped well. Not bad nice break from guitar riffs

Not one of Kate's best in my opinion some good tracks towards the end. However her voice annoyed me at the beginning too wailly. I like Kate Bush but this album fell short I left feeling short changed it seemed thoughtless

Nice tones from the female singer a celtic folk vibe. i quite liked the cover of Blue Moon. It was all preasent enough perjhaps a little long

Great obviously Blister in the sun is the stand out track. A lot of fast acoustic style guitar nice vocals a bit samey but good stuff in the whole.

Jangly Guitars nice stretched vocals and an early San Fransisco sound. Songs are a little lyrically weak if im honest otherwise I thought it was okay may not revisit as Mamas and Papas and other bands do this style so much better

I enjoyed this album I just thought it felt soooo long. I was like where is the end of it. Some great tracks I can't fault a lot of it but it just feels so drawn out.

It's not the best offering from the Verve. Ashcrofts voice is decent on this an dot offers Hazy guitars and flowing rhythm but doesn't quite hot the mark.

Not bad a little bland in places. Very 12 bar his voice and lyrics stand up. Not one song on here matches pump it up no real riffs Not horrible but not for me

Not the best from the God Father of soul. It was a miss mash of jumbled up noise. May have been awesome seeing it live but via a recording it was beyond messy. Just noise no distinctive sound. I thought it better when Cold Sweat came on then noticed that the album had finished and that was a random track.

Decent record Killing Moon obviously stand out track. However a lot a synth filled fun. His voice was great on this and lots a whirling guitar.

Its Punk very Ramones, perhaps a little Motley Crue and even Kiss in places punchy does a thing not that bothererd itll be good live its got attitude not much to dislike but doesnt massiveley speak to me. I can see it having a following and its quite tight at times and all over the place at others the guitars are good and drumming pretty good too vocals I would say he hold key. Nothing amazing middle of the road stuff

Love Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nick vocals are unreal. Tight band funky rock songs 😎 Not quite the passion of Rumours but still good album

Very Country I thought it a little over long and got a little bored. Some good stuff on here witty lyrics nice feel but a little mundane

3 stars for American Pie the song on its own. I didnt mind this album vincent is a also a great song although some of the latter songs felt like just fill.

I wasnt looking forward to this what with Brians allogations of assault and the fact its over an hour of screamy heavy raaaa hate the world lyrics and look at me I'm a deprived demon. However its got good riffs a hard bassline and real quality in places. I am not a metalhead but can appreciate good music and talent and there is a lot of that here. I have to detract the album from the contoversy. Once you have done that its pretty good for what it is . not my genre but it has something that draws you in. I remember The Beautiful People which is the highlight track still

Bit weak from a decent band. Love Iggy but this was drosh at times. Started well then just dialed it in and didn't really get out of second gear

This is a fantastic album starts typical Neil Young his voice croaking through with lovely guitar work on an acoustic very sedate folk then errupts later in the album to Rock N Roll with rral energy a fan of this one

Some classic songs on this album real decent riffs catchy lyrics and a overall good vibe . However toward the end of the album the catchy classic riff element drys up rapidly.

Not a patch on later albums and although some nice riffs the vocal lack here. Lyrics are poor too they have had somne good songs in the past non of which are on here. They are a rare band that have got better in time. There is no gloss or clean beats here just muffled chuggy bass and distorted guitars overshadowing vocals blending into one . One or two songs are okay but seems an album of fillers no stand out tracks really. Shame

Sexy cool smooth like silk his voice the vibe of this album is fantastic. I love it its got soul and blues and it just stands out.

Suprisingly good. I never really resonated with Thin Lizzy but I enjoyed this live album it is however a little long but hey its a live set so what would you expect. Nice riffs solid vocals a little Clarkson style Dad Rock otherwise its wasnt bad at all.

People think this is boring I think it's great it entertaining it's chilled it's acoustic it's loud it's experimental it brilliant

Some great song but very dated angry young man syndrome. Piggy is ok and a few others Reptile etc Hurt but prefer Johnny Cashs version more point. Over all a lot of shouty shit with a few good songs. I like the way he whispers at times to offer dynamic but I had headache afterwards I guess you needed like them In the 90s to like them now.

Not th best but some great stuff here from Jeff. They write catchy pop inspired songs with nice melodies a little safe but still enjoyable

Still standing the test of time tight hip hop rapping without getting too gangsta They flow well and I love the in and out from Wyclef, Lauren and Praz. All three cementing hit afterwards Nice covers too made them their own while the originals shone Great album plenty of nostalgia

Her voice is obviously sweet and has a lovely tone. However without any substance behind Cardigans are best when playing riffs and adding something extra to the background but on this it is a little weak to be honest even Love Fool is kinda annoying and seems pointless however it is the standout track.

Faster, Harder than a usual Manics album. Not really saying much I like the energy and do like this band but not this album.

Are you Iron Maiden in disguise. It didn't resonate it's no Moving Pictures and sounds like soft metal meets prog rock. Ok but not awesome inspiring

Not bad some good timeless songs not really my genre so struggled at times. Not a fan of a live album unless its is very well done someone in a smokey club. I appreciate the effort though and wouldnt turn off but would go to it either

Top stuff from the Rock gods Iommi riffs and Ozzy's voice are unmistakably good. Real deep riffs and drop guitar and beats make this a fantastic album and cements their place in history Breathtaking not really a bad track only criticism is it could get wailing and grating if not I'm the mindset but today I was in that mindset.

Like Public Enemy this band has strong fight the power political vibes that I dig. Nice beats, lyrics and vocals. I knew the singles but the album as a while is good. Not amazing some flaws maybe a little dated sound wise but overall good message and nice beats.

Masterpiece jangly Marr and Vocals from Morrisey make this album irresistable like most Smiths albums melochaly lyrics nice riffs jolly sarcastic vocals great stuff

My head dropped when I saw Guns and Roses Axels whiney voice and all the over the top cliches. However this album took me back to all that was good about them. Great riffs vocals drew me in instead of repeling me nice drumming some classic rock anthums mixed into the lesser know stuff which was interesting and a little underrated.

Amy's voice is unmistakable it's sheer brilliants effortlessly hitting the notes. This album is fantastic it offered that bossa nova sound tat was lacking in an Indie rock and pop filled market. It has also stood the test of time since her unfortunate passing. A real talent and a well put together album as well as her amazing voice the horns and background swing/jazz/ big band works ever so well.

Great vocals very well put together sweet sounds chilled vibes very Kate Bush. Unfortunutly a little boring towards the end I got sick of it.

Good rapping vocals are on point and it has a decent beat. Nice lyrics however it just feels dated and very samey the samples dont change much so was a little disappointed.

I enjoyed this other than a handful of songs I didn't know much about these. Pleasently surprised they have decent rhythm and beats and the songs have a deep Massive Attack breakbeat feel dirty bass the vocals are also decent enough..I would revisit them.

Prog rock some nice riffs Sunshine is an epic anthem and great fun. The rest kinda blended a bit I think it needs more listens it was just okay

Just getting in to PJ second album I heard of hers and I must admit I like her voice it has real quality. The songs are decent enough here without being amazing. Lacks a decent riff or two. In there and the lyrics ain't the strongest still it's pleasant enough

Didn't know much about these recognised Layla from Clapton and it is one of the best rock songs of all time. However it is surrounded in Blues tracks some of which are tedious. Now I love blues normally but this is long drawn out self indulgence I was bored waiting for Layla. This is a 30 mins album stretched out to 1hr 16 mins and it's painful at times. I give it 2 for Layla

Some great songs on here perfect for a summer drive along the country lanes. Great soulful voices and catch beats

Not bad it's not a patch on Pumpkins or even the Chillis but I appreciate the rock aspect of this album

Awful like a parody from Monty Python just gibberish hated it

I liked this but I like hip hop. Very WU Tang which is expected. It kicks nice beats and use of shinonbi and Kung Fu b movie slots and samples. Slow deep tones in the vocal style. It's good although you need to be in the mood to fully appreciate it. I also feel I should like this more than I really do.

This was okay but got a bit annoying. It lacked lyrics and was a bit meh in places not enough to grab my attention I won't be back

Love the old skool beats and slow rap style these guys have. Nice use of samples and deck scratches however I got bored it because too melodic towards the end

Nick Cave story telling at its best. He has this atmospheric sound to his records and not the best voice does spoken word and half singing or simply collaborates. My daughter hated this but I love Nick Cave you can just listen to him and he draws you near

An inspiring idea it just got annoying quickly

I liked this except on track that was just annoying sounds the rest though had a kind of swagger about it which I enjoyed.

God Mother of Soul this has some classics on here her voice pops it's a great album with some great backing instrumentals that compliments everyone and everything

The Black Album allowed me to tap in to the heavier side of Metallica. I like this album good heavy metal sound to it. Love the riffs and stop start it is tight and you can have a raaa moment to it but you have eto be in a raaa mood.

Another from back in the day 1979, Bullet For Butterfly wings, Tonight Tonight all smashing songs. Really nice work here from Billy's vocals to the riffs and switch from ballad to rock anthems. I just think it was too long I get one day album one night but I struggle to listen to this in on ego it's just a top much. It's quite heavy and in bits brilliant in other areas hard. However it's a classic album that more than deserving to be here.
