Reviews (page 3 of 14)

Perfection. I don't know, but it clicked for me. So many iconic poppy songs, I like almost every single one on this album :)

Classic good times music

Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money Money Money, AND Fernando are you KIDDING me

Lots of classics on here that I really love, though some of the songs I didn’t know made the album slightly less impressive to me. They definitely share the same feel as the songs I already knew but just fell short. This album’s still a 9/10 to me because the hits really do hit. Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, and Fernando all on the same album is a gift.

I honestly felt like this album flew by. Which I guess is a good thing. Honestly I can probably listen to this album on repeat and it'd still be a fun listen. Even their "worst songs" from this album aren't even bad. They got their own style and rhythm. Add on top of that their singles from this record, "Dancing Queen", "Fernando", "Money, Money, Money" are all incredibly good and featured everywhere. To me, there's absolutely no reason to not give this album 5 stars.

Obviously we all know that ABBA slaps - Dancing Queen an all time classic that only grumpy grumps (see: stupid teenage me) don't appreciate

Ståpels

9/12 låtar är i min egna Abba Gold-lista, I rest my case.

Did not expect this to be this good

Classic ABBA

Classic

Probably the best pop album of all time, and hard to forget the sheer impact it had on pop culture more generally. And beyond that, it's a great listen for the most part. Dancing Queen (!), My Love My Life, Knowing Me, That's Me, What Did it Have to be Me, Arrival, Fernando, Happy Hawaii! Mamma Mia and people paying top dollar to see their hologram in London, to name but a few of their enduring influences. 5*

An album of bangers! Questionable Song - "When I kissed the teacher" - definitely wouldnt be made today, haha. Top Tier - Dancing Queen - forever. Favorite surprise - Dum Dum Diddle.

Good vibes only, perfect for a sunny sunday morning like the one today

Such icons. Not necessarily my cup of tea but I have mad respect and not just for the album cover.

I have very eclectic tastes in music but, deep down, I am a metalhead and heavy rock fan, with regular excursions into Jazz. But I have owned and loved this album on vinyl for years. Arrival is close to the perfect pop album, and ABBA the perfect pop band. There are classic songs here - Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Money, Money, Money - and the rest comes close to equalling those. The arrangements are wonderful and the sounds so influential (listen to Costello's Oliver's Army immediately after Dancing Queen...). I love this album. It always makes me smile.

yesssssss

Sweet ABBA, sweet childhood memories

So excited to finally get ABBA on this, they always make me so happy. They go so hard. Their harmonies are *chef's kiss* Highlights: fernando, dancing queen, money money money, knowing me knowing you, when i kissed the teacher (still catchy despite the creepiness)

UM HELLO I KNOW MORE THAN HALF THE SONGS AND THEY’RE MY FAV ONES WHO KNEW THEY WERE ALL IN ONE ALBUM THIS MAKES PERFECT SENSE

Listening to ABBA songs I don't know is always an odd experience. This is packed with the hits which are iconic through familiarity, and the others fit in really well. I'm intrigued that their idea of an alien landing appears to just be bagpipes. Not the first time I've heard that either. I suppose if you've tried to understand a Scottish accent it kinda makes sense

Is it embarrassing to admit when pop music hits the spot?

Everyone likes Abba but not everyone can admit it.

Okay, I don’t even need to listen to this album… I will because I want to, but I already know 99% of these songs and this is without a doubt a 5

This album comes with almost 50 years of cultural baggage attached, from Alan Partridge to the musical Mama Mia to every wedding disco I’ve ever been to, along with some of the most memorable songs of all time. If you can put that to one side and listen to this with no pre-conceptions then you are in for a treat. The first thing to say is that this album feels a little like a greatest hits compilation, including ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, ‘Money, Money, Money’ and ‘Fernando’, but any of the other tracks can justifiably stand alongside these hits. This is immaculately constructed pop, across a variety of genres from cheesy Euro disco to dark cabaret to good old rock ’n’ roll, not forgetting the majestic instrumental title track. The lyrics have an occasional odd turn of phrase (‘Dum dum diddle, to be your fiddle’) which just adds to their quirky Scandinavian charm when sung by Agnetha and Anna-Frid with just a hint of a Swedish accent. Eurovision-tastic!

Abba can do no wrong. Ever. Period.

Nice and light

Tem Dancing Queen nesse álbum, ABBA em estado puro, merece 5 só por causa disso.

Vele nummers ken ik al uit me hoofd, benieuwd naar de wat minder bekende nummers van het album

Oh my favourite/ one of the first albums I owned

Is this the music you’re going to catch me listening to week in and week out? Probably not, but it’s hard to deny that iconic nature of Abba. I’m not afraid to say I can get down to most of these tracks and there’s something charming and silly about ABBA in the best ways. Lotta Bops on this one. Fernando FTW

Pop perfection

Tons of hits on this record, love the unique abba sound. First track was kind of wild.

Subjectively ABBA's best album: Brilliant, ethereal, youthful, and sun-kissed. "Dancing Queen" is a classic and possibly the best wedding song of all-time. ABBA feels like a shot of dopamine.

One of ABBA's best.

Surprisingly good! Knew several tracks but not others. 5/5

It was Valentine's Day so I let my wife rate this one. They are still listened to even by GenZ.

good tunes, heard many before

Happy people like ABBA. Sad people like ABBA because they want to be happy. Angry people don’t like ABBA.

This is the 27th album I’m rating. I’ve barely listened to ABBA but the ABBA I’ve listened to has been pretty good so I’m expecting great things from this album. When I Kissed the Teacher - Adding to my Playlist. I hope this was a college professor. Dancing Queen - Adding to my Playlist. Classic song and probably the most famous ABBA song. My Love, my Life - Adding to my Playlist. I think I like ABBA. Dum Dum Diddle - Adding to my Playlist. Fun simple song. Knowing Me, Knowing You - Adding to my Playlist. Maybe I should watch Mamma Mia! Money, Money, Money - Adding to my Playlist. LeBron’s favorite song maybe. That’s Me - Adding to my Playlist. This is a really fun album. Why Did it Have to be Me? - Adding to my Playlist. The guys are singing and it’s pretty good. Tiger - Adding to my Playlist. Best song on the album. Arrival - Adding to my Playlist. Interesting way to end the album. All in all I liked 10/10 of the songs. This was a fantastic album and actually exceeded expectations. ABBA is great.

Cheesy Swedish pop perfection. I'm a huge Eurovision fan, and I really wish that there was more ABBA in the generator.

I don’t think ABBA get the respect they deserve for being excellent artists. Yes, a pop group can be considered true artists. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-arrival-by-abba?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Great album

Arrival is to Disco what Nevermind is to grunge. A truly genre-defining masterpiece, chock full of absolutely fantastic songs. From Dancing Queen to Money, Money, Money and everything in between, Arrival struck gold on every front. The whole record is so well produced, performed, written, and structured. For me, music is all about the feeling it evokes. I dare you to put this on and not feel absolute joy. Yes, it's pop. Yes, it's kitchy, campy, corny stuff. But good lord, this is POP. 10/10

Fabulous 👌

I don't know if I'd listen to Abba every day, but honestly maybe I would... love it

So its got my 3 favourite abba hits and then songs as good as tiger and my love my life 5/5 Then after I listened to my other favourite abba songs, lay all your love on me, sos, waterloo, I’m a marionette, gimmie gimmie gimmie and eagle. And had a fun abba morning

GOAT album - classic after classic. Greatest pop band of all time

💃🕺

5* perfect

What a classic

It's good to see that many people recognise Abba as the GOAT pop band with hit after hit even just on this one album. Solid gold 1001% classic

Overall Score: 9.1/10 Favorite Track: Tiger Least Favorite Track: Arrival Every song is enjoyable, and this is an overall amazing album. Would definitely listen again.

Amazing

Holy fuck… Incredible

ABBA BUENARDO

What an absolute classic by such a legendary group. It may not be music I listen to on my own but I will never be upset if ABBA comes on. It has the power to make almost anyone wanna get up and groove. I'm confident this album had significant influence on all the pop music that came after it. The songs are so big yet the melodies are so catchy and easy to sing along to.

Tel le rince bouche universel de la joie et du bien être, Abba vient me sauver de cette semaine très mid avec un incroyable album de qualité turbo discodrôme

Awesome

FERNANDO

The songs have silly lyrics that talk about love and relationships, about dancing, about beautiful, young and sweet girls who are only 17 dancing, about kissing the geometry teacher and constant questions from someone who really wants to know if Fernando is listening to the drums... But all of this in an atmosphere that manages to be danceable, magical and cozy at the same time! I loved it! 5 stars!

easy 5/5, this rules.

Just to think, this was released a year after their "Greatest Hits" album. So much gold on this album. Sure there are a few droney cheesy ballads, but the production quality is always sky high, it's a class act!

Bright and buoyant, the songs dance effortlessly. There’s a sparkle that reminds me of Fleetwood Mac, but more unashamedly upbeat. Each track feels like a celebration. It’s music to lose yourself in, easy and inviting.

Banger after banger after banger.

Very enjoyable, made me dance. Like I saw in another review, it’s definitely a perfect album to listen to when you have company :)

I hate disco/dance music but Abba kills it

Exceptional

4.5 - It's not the strongest five star album, obviously, but this has a lot of perfect songs on it. My issue with it is that the few songs that don't land are pretty mid and keep the album from being as strong as it could be. But, besides those, it's some great Europop. Definitely my favourite of their albums and probably the strongest they have.

A classic album by ABBA with so many of their most popular songs. My favorite from this album is Money Money Money.

Very good!I like the vibeeeee!

Oh heck ya I love Abba; the random band that is so different from my usual taste. Yeah it's an easy 5 star no question

Love ABBA - nothing more to say.

I loved this album!

1st time standout tracks: kiss the teacher dancing queen money money money why did it have to be me tiger fernando

Rating: 4,75/5

It's ABBA. Everyone loves ABBA. Perhaps not every song on the album is a banger, but there are quite a few. And it has my favorite ABBA song (Fernando). And to reiterate, everyone loves ABBA.

Arrival was the first LP I bought with my pocket money. As a young teenager, I was a fan of ABBA and completely enchanted by the LP. This then cooled off as I became a teenager and changed peer groups after moving to another city. I didn't want to know anything more about ABBA and I was embarrassed by my former fondness. It was a long time before I rediscovered ABBA. Yes, the music is sweet to the tooth. It is pop. Everyone could be carried away by this music. But it is also really well made. Björn and Benny were/are good and multi-talented musicians. They have a good feel for popular music. And the girls looked so good and could also sing so well. ABBA is not in my daily feed and never will be. But sometimes it's nice to hear their music again. So "Thank you for the music ..." It's the same with this album. I particularly liked "Dancing Queen", "Money, Money, Money" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You" because they were also charged with early memories as a teenager. I particularly liked "Fernando" again. 5/5

Dancing Queen is the reason I decided to explore this project. It was October 26, 2018 ... a gorgeous fall evening in Connecticut just hours after Keith and Carlyle got married in their backyard. Keith, recently diagnosed with the rare cancer that would kill him just 3.5 years later, said the hardest thing to reconcile is "when will be the last." He said, "Like when is the last time I'll hear Dancing Queen." He loved that song like no other. His joy from Abba made me so giddy with delight. Nothing more fun than our drunken deep dives into Abba videos and recreating the Knowing Me, Knowing You video. It always surprised me that he wanted to play the role of Anni rather than Agnetha. Abba has become more than a great nostalgic band for me since Keith's death. It's my touchstone to him now. Nothing makes me feel closer. I refrained from listening to Abba for a long time after his death and then when they popped up on a playlist, I realized it was all going to be OK. So this album carries a lot for me. And for me, that's the point of music...to stir the emotions with groove and comfort. I can look pass When I Kissed the Teacher and My Love, My Life because the great songs are just so transcendent. I listened closely to the sleepers---Tiger, Arrival---and really enjoyed those tunes as well. Something about the keys on this album envelopes me in that 70s nostalgia when we could all come together and dance and sing no matter our culture or age. Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend Yes, if I had to do the same again I would, my friend

Loved this, it was fun from start to finish. Think my favorite is Money, Money, Money.

A true pop masterpiece. Just what the doctor ordered for a Monday morning.

Fantastic album. Just on the break between their rock/pop era towards the disco. Happy music that set the tone of the day! 5/5

Dancing Queen is a microcosm of ABBA as a whole, it has the disco punch and emotional story. Then this album is the ABBA universe, excellent songs full of fun and jubilee. Solid song and solid song, and plenty of show stoppers. Exquisite listen from start to finish!

When I'm not listening to this album I remember it as a 3 or a 4. How many marks could an ABBA album really deserve? When it is playing I couldn't allow it anything less than full marks.

A timeless album indeed.

Perfection. Absolute joy. God bless ABBA!! 5

Really good album didn’t expect to know most of the songs already

Absolutely fantastic album. This one was a nice surprise for today. The 'ah-ha' after knowing me knowing you is sung is one of my earliest musical memories. I was about 6 or 7 and at the mercy of what came on the radio and this group always stood out. This is the first time I've listened to an ABBA album in my adult life and I enjoyed every minute of it.

This is the first time I've listened to a full ABBA album. They write such great melodies! Everybody knows Dancing Queen but so glad I have these new ABBA favorites: My Love My Life, Knowing Me Knowing You, MoneyMoneyMoney, That's Me, Why Did it Have to be Me?, Tiger. Great album! (I've been to Hawaii. it IS a happy place!)

What's not to love about Abba? This is just feel good music that makes me smile. Obviously Dancing Queen and Fernando are iconic, and Happy Hawaii was my favorite surprise on the album. When I Kissed the Teacher lyrics were cringe, but whatevs, it was the 70s and she had a crush on her teacher, and the song is super fun.

ABBA-solutely relentless pop banger after pop banger! I mean, why not just release a best of as a studio album. Very efficient way to produce records! I feel like if you don’t love this album you need to go and sit in some sunshine for a bit. Maybe meet some new people. Broaden your horizons. Try to find some happiness somewhere. 4.5

New this one before and loved it again

Classic album

Like most other ABBA, it’s super fun whether you want to admit it or not!! Knew a couple songs but many were new to me. 4.5/5

Perfect album

I know... I know... but it's a guilty pleasure. Their most popular album with hits galore. Unless you just came out from under a rock, you will recognize these hits.

awesome

ABBA is the Beatles of the queer community. There is not a gay person alive today who isn’t a massive ABBA fan, myself included. But more importantly, ABBA has clearly stood the test of time and have arguably made a larger impact on modern sounds and styles than any rock band ever did, including/especially the Beatles. While Arrival is maybe my least favorite ABBA album, it’s still one of the best pop albums ever made. From the harmonies on “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” the musical theater rhythm of “Money, Money, Money,” the subtle bass groove on “When I Kissed The Teacher,” the guitar lick on “Tiger” – it’s all so strong. What pushes Arrival over the edge, though, is the phenomenal instrumental title track and, of course, “Dancing Queen,” which is, as they say, a ✨cultural reset✨ that still hits you like a ton of bricks at the club 5 decades later. I’d personally say Voulez-Vous and Super Trooper are both stronger albums and better entry points into ABBA, but that’s just splitting hairs and picking a favorite child. Because again, I’d switch out 7 Beatles records with 5 ABBA albums in a heartbeat. Arrival is amazing, one of the greatest pop albums ever made, and 1,000% deserves to be on this list.

Classic tunes, some I hadn't heard before, just love it.

Love it.

Unfair to even take into account some of the filler (most of which is far superior to what could be considered filler) when it contains three of the greatest singles ever released, and in Fernando, possibly THE greatest.

While it may seem tame now this album was seismic in influence. So many pop stars and indie bands owe something to ABBA in general and this album in particular. Such a refreshing album after the doldrums of the California singer/songwriter era in the first half of the 70s. Favorite tracks: "Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Why Did It Have to Be Me?", "Tiger", "Arrival", and "Fernando".

A masterpiece; a blessing to this world.

I got into work yesterday, shattered from moving all weekend, emotionally drained and looking like that one tired rage comic man, ready to listen to some two hour long experimental hammer and nail album. And instead, I got to listen to ABBA!! I have never been happier, this is such a good album 10/10

Boh pazzesco, ma subito dalla prima: "when i kissed the teacher", quella dopo è "Dancing queen"...

It's ABBA innit

One of if not the most fun albums I’ve listened to so far

Just all around fun, bubblegum pop music. Stand-out: Fernando

ABBA is my 9 year old’s favorite band, and this was full of several great songs.

This isn't called 1001 mediocre albums you should listen to before you die.

I dunno shit about Eurovision, but thank you Europe for bringing us ABBA.

Позитивная музыка. Сразу несколько хитов на альбоме, летним утром заряжает на позитив

Really good pop album. Their harmony is superb and there's a deep understanding from everyone involved on how to get people dancing and singing along. While it's not an album im going to be listening to on my own that doesn't change the fact they cooked with this one. Arrival is definitely going into a Playlist and I'll be listening to that song a lot. By far my favorite track. It's like a 4.5 rounded up for me.

This has Dancing Queen. This has Knowing Me, Knowing You. This has Why Did It Have To Be Me. This has Fernando. This has hidden gem 'Arrival'. 5 stars.

I mean, it's ABBA. You can't dislike ABBA. I was doubting whether I should give this one a 4 or a 5 but fuck it, this one is a solid 5 (or like, maybe a 4.6 since Voulez-Vous is a tad better).

you really can't go wrong with ABBA, the swedish pop group that makes songs that are so peppy you'll actually hurt yourself if you attempt to frown or restrain your body from moving. every song captures your attention and keeps you entertained. it's a deeply energized and harmonious album that'll make you feel great. seriously, who doesn't like ABBA?

haters can suck it

So many good songs

ABBA is just the best. So glad I got this album on a Friday. Listened to it all weekend.

This is more like it. The first LP I owned, so a profoundly nostalgic pleasure, but Dancing Queen and Knowing Me, Knowing You are classics for a reason and I have an ongoing fondness for Tiger and Why Did It Have To Be Me? too. No need to add Fernando and Happy Hawaii to this album, Arrival was the perfect ending already.

It's ABBA, what can I say? Dancing Queen is one of the best songs ever recorded.

Loved listening to this entire album.

no notes this is perfect

Not sure if this is important, but I’m white, straight, in my 30’s, like sports, enjoy a good beer, lift weights. ABBA rules.

Pop at its best!

Great music to clean the house to. Couple classics.

BloobsPls

Cheesy, silly but brilliant. So catchy, every song is a singalong and it’s fun. Plus it’s full of genuine classics. People will hate it but I don’t care, 4.5 but nostalgia takes it up to a 5.

Just fun!

Pop aus meinem Geburtsjahr - mit "Dancing Queen" 5/5

A Milestone of Pop

Abba...

Know and love most of the songs on this album.

Certified banger.

How can you not like this. Superb music production, brilliant arrangements. Combine this with the talented writing of Mssrs Benny and Bjorn together with the fab voices of Anna and Frieda and you have the recipe for continuous success. Filled with familiar singalong tunes its a brilliant listen. 👍

Kinda weird lyrics, "when i kissed the teacher". Dancing Queen is a classic, such a good song. 'Knowing me, knowing you' and 'Money, money, money', 'Fernando' also great

Banger after banger, bops all around. It's simple, but great.

Hey ABBA “Knowing Me, Knowing You” 👍😊

I don’t know if I have any opinion. I think my only exposure has been being in the same room as Mamma Mia is playing. This first song is fucking so bad and creepy and weird and European. But it’s also catchy which is truly the evil power of ABBA. How can you hate this. It’s such good pop music. It’s infectious. Its insidious. It rules. Dancing Queen is just a perfect song, my god. Dum Dum Diddle might be the greatest song ever written it’s so cute and wholesome in this completely embarrassingly innocent way but instead of being cringeworthy it’s adorable. FUCK. Knowing Me, Knowing You almost feels like a completely band. It’s so mature and good. Good Lord is this going to be a 5 star album? Money is so good too. Really love the instrumentals. They manage to be totally of the time without really feeling dated, there’s something unique about them. I really dig it. Is that a weird vocal effect paired with a weird folksy guitar with a fucking killer synth on That’s Me? This album is incredible, I love it. Holy shit. What the fuck. Why Did it Have to Be walks in and farts all over the place by using a generic riff and having one of the dudes start singing. It gets better but this is the first hiccup since the baffling first song. The prechorus and chorus are so good, the verses are a disaster. Thank god we’re back to stupid bullshit I love. Anyone who says these lyrics suck are 100% correct. These people also don’t know how to have fun. This is again one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard.

All the hits. Knowing me knowing you is definitely my favourite.

Melody is the most important aspect of music I enjoy listening. Second is catchy lyrics, and third is good production. ABBA is the master of all three.

they grew them in a lab in order to make songs that honestly still rock severely even if you’ve heard them a million times. i was smiling all throughout. perfect music for going on the bus on a sunny day. What if i eat you? I am the tiger.

I mean, just amazing. I never listened to ABBA besides their hits. The harmonies and melodies in this album are amazing. It's like a mini musical. I can see why they were so famous. Favorite song was Dum Dum Diddle. Added to my Spotify playlist.

Pure disco pop bliss

After listening to other pop songs here, I've noticed I can't take this as given even if it's not my thing. Amazing how some weird Swedes could make such timeless classics Except wenakissatiche

dopo 50 anni ancora una delle migliori band, incredibile come non passino mai di moda !! ✨🥺 5 stelle palese

GLI ABBA RAGAAAA capolavoro indiscusso

The Beatles and the Beach Boys elevated album production beyond coherent-ish song cycle to immersive happening, each creating their own universes of natural laws, logic, mythology; later on, it would be Bowie, Pink Floyd and Queen pushing the form to epic, cinematic spaces. Where the Beatles had Dance Hall, and the Beach Boys had Americana, the new kids smashed and grabbed for the 1970s—garage rock, Glam, Space Rock, Psychedelia as well as folk, blues, rock n roll, anything else they could get their hands on, creating classic albums that were both timely and timeless, anticipating the next thing while rooted in their thing. Bowie would be the only member of this class to truly turn and face the strange. And then there's ABBA, nobody's first choice as an album artist, aside from a Greatest Hits Album. And that would be where you fucked up, because ABBA were album artists, when everything was working, the finest of the 70s. All of the above had serious students in ABBA, who crafted Girl-Group-Inspired Glam soaked what's the Swedish word for Schlager with a strange penchant for Spain and Mexico—the unexpected ingredient from a smiling, affable bunch who looked to be straight from a Lebensborn farm, and it is this weird white otherness that sharpens what, by all appearances, is pure karaoke fodder. You'd be fucked up again if you left this there. One of the best of the whole decade.

Awesome record. Infusion of Agnetha and Frida's vocal to the production from the guys was a match made in heaven . It keeps making someone come for more and more, Dum Dum fiddle was a bop , "Knowing me Knowing you" as a mature break up song was very good . "Dancing Queen " is always a hall of fame song."Thats me", and the Title track were also awesome.

Good Album with each track different. Ad's in between each track.

March 27, 2024 HL: "Dancing Queen", "My Love, My Life", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Money, Money, Money", "Why Did It Have to Be Me?", & the title track and "Fernando" Oh come ON

Love ABBA love this album

A classic and extremly well produced pop album. If you do not like pop it is ok but this is top of pop

What’s not to love

whoo can look me in the eye and say this album doesn't kill? hmm?? no weapon formed against ABBA shall prosper

An all time great. A part of history

Nobody does pop better than Abba. Easily 5 stars.

The title was very apt, great album.

Dancing Queen

OK. You got me you silly vikings. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. This band had some serious talent and I'm not surprised they blew up the way they did. The vocals and interplay between the members is done very well, and the songs presented here stay interesting throughout even if I may not be crazy about all of them. I don't think it's a stretch to say this band is much more than a glitzy disco group, and they possess some strange edge. I'll be glad to dig into more of their discography as well as Anni-Frid Lyngstad's solo work.

4.9 stars. It's hard not to rate this album highly cuz there are SO many hits. "Tiger" is a new favorite. "When I Kissed the Teacher" I am choosing to believe is about an adult Geometry class. The title track is a departure from all of the upbeat singles, but it does create anticipation for "Fernando." Only weak song is "Happy Honolulu," sounds like a kinda bland 50s song, and they don't even pronounce Hawaii right.

Most pop albums feel like they are carried by their hits. This album is no exception as Dancing Queen and Money, Money, Money are easily the standouts. But where most pop albums simultaneously feel like their non-hits are dragging them down, that is not the case here. Without the two aforementioned songs this album is probably a light 4. But it's getting a 5 from me because those hits really hit.

Incredibly consistent Pop album from a band I thought of as deeply unserious until now. Yeah I liked ABBA, but my assumption was they were a fun singles band. This is great stuff, the harmonies deliver on every song, every track is at least fine and the best songs are amazing. Top tracks: When I Kissed The Teacher, Dancing Queen, Dum Dum Diddle, Money Money Money, That’s Me, Why Did It Have To Be Me?, Fernando

It’s hard to imagine a better ABBA album. It has half of ABBA gold plus the B sides are good to fine (which is unusual for ABBA)

Excelente!!

this album is my love, my life

ALREADY 5 STARS, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BANDS, WHO I LOVEE, FROM MY CHILDHOOD TO THIS DAY. Literally, I've heard a lot of them, Beatles, deep purple, Queen, and many others when I was a child, ABBA is simply THAT group. I am a gradual adder of songs so I don't know all of their songs(I know about 90 or more), so I don't know only three songs here, others are bangers, however, my upcoming review of each song will be as objective as I can(or not). First song, I LOVEE THIS SONG, probably will say that about each of them tbh. It starts slow and then transforms into a wholly fun and boogie experience, when I first heard this, I was really feeling the energy, it's just perfect, even if the lyrics are a little weird, thoughh I know it by heart, and it's not that bad when I've already sang it out loud a lot. I love the after chorus slow down, it's getting back to how it started. THE INTRO IS SOO GOOD TOO, like much different from the whole song, but it's just fun in the best way possible. I would talk more, but I'd rather dance and sing with them. Second song, THE CLASSIC OLD GOLD SONG, it may be overplayed, but it's one of the best songs one could hear, and a great start for a non-ABBA fan. Also the lyrics of this are quite depressing in a way, because they are basically indicating that they are no longer dancing queens and are watching that one girl, so it's all about perspective, but it's all in my opinion and what I've heard online. In the last chorus they sing it more passionately and I LOVEEE THAT. Also every song at the end fades away, as it is expected from this time. Third song, ohh I don't know this one, I'm adding it to my Spotify liked songs tho. It's quite slow for now. I love her vocals here. The chorus is gonna be very good I sense it, oooo it transitioned into it very well. This is all the way slow, I mean I wouldn't expect if they just made this disco after the intro yk. This is underrated tbh, it's like transcending in a way. It's quite melancholic and I'm here for it. 4th song, OOOH ONE OF MY FAVS, this is a horny song for me. She sings about a man who plays his violin and she wishes she was that violin, as in to be close to him in a way. Silly little song this is, plus it's catchy and just I could not not love this. Also the instrumentalss, abba just does them in a very good unique way. 5th song, NOW THIS IS MY JAMM, it's my childhood song too, when that chorus instrumental hits, I go back to my house when I was dancing with my family in the living room with the speaker all the way up, thing is I'm not even old. THE WHISPERING, ONE OF THE BEST PARTS HERE. The ending of the second verse is sooo good and the lyrical delivery is perfect. I also love that Björn and Benny are here too, they rarely show up so. This is so sad lyrically, yet It's so disco cored, and danceable as fuck. That guitar riff at the end is also very memorable for me. JUSTT PERFECT. 6TH SONG, WHO DOESN'T KNOW THIS SONG, it's soo catchy, the instrumentals, the lyrics. I've played this song over and over too much for as long as I'm alive. I wish there were more songs like this from other artists(there probably are but still, like this mischievous vibey one). Just before the last chorus comes in there is this beat drop, I ADORE AND LIVE FOR IT, plus the outro has that kind of vibe too. I will always love this album with all my heart(not only this one though. 7th song, weird thing that this has no chorus, yet it's veeery catchy and monotonous yet progressive in a way. THE BRIDGE IS SOOO MAGNIFICENT. I love how melancholic the instrumentals can get if you pay attention, like at the end after she repeats carrie thing, it gets kinda sad, additionally the outro has the same thing injected in it. Basicallyyy I was also addicted to this song. 8th song, EVERYONE SINGS HERE, I love that about it. Also I love the lyrical delivery of "I only wanted a little love affair" it scratches my brain every time I hear it. I so know these lyrics too. Its instrumentals are unique to me also. 9th song, LOVE THE VOCALS HERE. The lyrics are literally about a tiger, unless there's a deep meaning in it. I love the changes in this song, it's fast and all mostly, then there's this post-chorus, which is much slower and idk why I couldn't remember those lyrics. Love love the Outro of vocalss. 10th song, first time hearing this. Ohh it's an instrumental. Well it's very ABBA. It's so Swedishh, that instrument, idk how to say it in English, is definitely the main attraction here. The vocals are a nice touch too. It's also quite melancholic in its fashion. 11th song, SUCH NOSTALGIAAA. I love the chorus here, but the build-up with the verse is also quite amazing. The vocals are astounding to me, the angelic voices of them is just too good for this world. Apparently this is Anni-Frid's solo song which then appeared here, I do listen to both Agnetha's and Frida's solo songs, I just love their voices too much. 12th song, also first time hearing this. OUUU I LOVED THAT BEAT CHANGE. IT'S SO ABBA, OH MY GOD IT'S "why did it have to be me". I DIDN'T KNOW I WOULD LOVE THAT SONG EVEN MORE, but a whole different lyrics, I'm amazed. Plus it has summer vibes, makes it much better too. This actually shouldn't be on arrival, the song I mentioned replaced this, but I'm very glad I found this, it's a gem indeed. Oh the outro is instrumental, which is rare from ABBA. I AM IN LOVE WITH ABBA EVEN MORE. I've never listened to the whole of their album, but I have listened to them this much time just chose what I wanted to play most of the time. Anywayyy as I said 5 stars, and I'm gonna rate many of my favourite groups like this without no question.

ABBA perfected pop music in 1975. We need to stop trying to improve on it and just listen to this until the end of time.

It's ABBA. Absolute banger

I mean this is a clear Zach 5/5 Grew up with Abba and I love the deeper cuts on this album too. Starting off so fun with when I kissed the teacher god I wish I was the teacher! My love, my life is such a sonically rich ballad. Dum Dum Diddle is the clear standout and not sure how it did not get into mamma mia it is sooooo camp and EUROVISION its crazy haha That's me is wrong I would marry her! Tiger makes Survivors version look like a cover wow Having a literal hymn sung in Arrival is just beautiful I feel like the album should have started with that cause wow I am in ABBA church praise. of course, dancing queen, knowing me knowing you, Fernando, money money money all classics and forever mainstays in the cultural landscape. I need this album on CD bad I realize but ABBA is so hard to find!

Jeg som aldri har likt Abba, likevel får det full score. Veldig bra!

Familiarity bias but also impeccable pop

Classic album.

ABBA! I have a soft spot for them because they are legit GOOD.

FINALLY! Something worth listening to. I feel like this generator gives me a lot of noise. Never seen this album cover before - super cool egg helicopter.

Classic

Had a lil menty b during my second listen of this one. Nothing like crying to “Dancing Queen” as you drive down the 5. Either way, I love this album, so no chance I was gonna give it less than 5 stars. The title track of this album was actually one of the only ones I hadn’t heard before. And it’s my least favorite song.

I love this album so much. Banger after banger. And then to end on instrumental Arrival after going so hard on every other song, forces you to think back through all of the other songs you just heard and all of the emotions you just felt. Wild.

Dang, Abba is just such a sonic oasis and melodic paradise. What an absolute joy to listen to and to lift up your spirits!

Lyrics/Vocals- 5/5 Instruments- 5/5 Vibes- 5/5 Overall- 5/5 This was a great listen. Not a dull song on here, although "Money, Money, Money" didn't resonate with me as much as many of the others.

Varied and distinct. With great guitar lines too.

Classic

As someone who has gone through ABBA's whole discography (for some reason) I have severely underrated this album. It used to be an issue where I thought only of this album as the Dancing Queen album with some super underrated tracks like Dum Dum Diddle and Tiger, while most of it was forgettable, and while I still kind of think some of the tracks due have this forgettable quality to them, the album as a whole is top notch. The bass playing is on point, the vocals are strong throughout, and the whole thing oozes that pop charisma the band is known for whilst hardly ever slowing down, save for a single ballad that has good, slowed down grooves to ensure you never stop jamming. Sure, the ending is a little unnecessary, and there are still iffy moments, but as a whole this is an album I really should have appreciated more years ago, because this is nonstop heat, in that ABBA only kind of way.

can never go wrong w this classic

it's pure sunshine, how could it be less than 5 stars?

hell yes!! i was so excited to see ABBA when i loaded the page! this album has some absolute classic swedish pop bangers, along with a few duds and a song about gettin it on with your teacher. as a 90s kid, was that just like, the cool thing to do in the 70s and 80s? yikes i don't think i'd ever listened to an ABBA album that wasn't a greatest hits collection so this was neat. definitely some filler but overall, great. favorites: dancing queen, knowing me knowing you, money money money, tiger, fernando

- instant 5 - i love abba

Pure joy listening to this.

Man I love Abba and this album has a good amount of their hits as well as some pretty good ones I hadn't heard before. Something about Abba is insanely catchy and brings me such a good mood. I like that they mix up the singer every now and then and switch to their male singer. As much as I dont like 70's-80's pop, I LOVE Abba. 5/5 stars

Pure joy! ❤️❤️

Great Album

Classic AF SO SICK OF IT but it’s good

5/5 Amazing early pop album, I do indeed need a (wo)man after midnight

un super clásico dancing queen, Fernando y demas para mi el mejor disco de ABBA

How can you not give it 5 stars. It's ABBA with most of their hits. Not even a problem picking this one

Slusajuci ovo sam mentalno na visu i ljeto je Klasik🌞

predobar album, happy vibes, 11/10

loved it!

Cada canción es pegadiza. 5/5

FUCKIN CLASSIC

Great album. Great band. How many times have I listened to their songs? Every summer I listen to their hits. From this album I love When I Kissed The Teacher, Dum Dum Diddle… aside from the most famous ones.

Incredible album. So many hits!

One of the best ABBA albums ever.

10/10 Every song hits Love the Swedish Nordic vibe half way through Fernando 🤌🏻 First time hearing tiger can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on a hit like that

I love this album.

No bad moods after listening to this album.

This goes way too hard. And the image of pani musilova counting stacks is still very vivid and doesn't go away.

I wonder what other pop musicians will be retroactively deemed geniuses once they aren't on the radio every half hour, 24-7. I love it.

Nostalgic, classic sound and pleasant songs. I really enjoyed this album. All of the ones I’d never heard before didn’t disappoint.

I'm firmly in camp 'hating Abba is hating fun', but I also think they're too overly silly to be truly transcendent.

This is just golden

It was really good

Classic 70's. and awesome

Beautiful melodic harmonious pop. What is not to love

I love ABBA!

Favourite songs: Fernando, Dancing Queen, "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Money, Money, Money", When I Kissed the Teacher, Why Did It Have to Be Me?, Tiger, Dum Dum Diddle Least favourite songs: "My Love, My Life" 5/5

This has just as much gold as ABBA Gold

I can’t decided which song is my favorite! I fucking love every Abba song I hear! - 10/10

It’s ABBA.

ABBA my faves❤️❤️❤️. Love them so much and this album has so many bangers . When I kissed the teacher is one of my all-time faves.

5/5 of course. How could you not like ABBA. Their sound and harmonies are instantly recognizable, and overall their songs are just classics.

well known to me, fun to see the number of well known songs on impressionable album

Another great album!

Ah, ABBA, Ruotsin lahja Euroviisuille. Albumi ei tuttu, mutta näytti olevan hittikimaraa täynnä. Ihan best, menee uudelleen kuunteluun!

Good mix

Classic

Konečne! Toto by som dobrovoľne počúvala a spievala si

I feel it's hard not to give this a 5, even though it's not massively my music, because of the profound impact and popularity of abba.

Not a big fan of rock music

You already know.

Maybe back in the 70s opening with a track about kissing your teacher was a way to hook your listeners, right now for me it just seems a bit weird. That aside, the rest of the album doesn't fail to impress. Beyond just being classics, these are excellent tracks with rich and exciting vocals and colourful instrumentation. Lyrically they aren't exactly groundbreaking, but for 70s pop they are pretty great.

Great album.

Simply iconic.

Great album

Well, its ABBA :D Good mood music

It's ABBA. Banger after banger.

Can't go wrong with ABBA

Koska seuraava Mamma Mian sing along -näytös?

Med glass och kaka de var bästa.

a throw back to the 70's disco what do I know i was just a kid

Arrived

Beautiful harmonies, anthemic pop tracks, moving lyrics

Rating: ** 5+ ** Notes: First ABBA Album I have completly listended to, didn't even know most of the songs, just the most famous ones.. but tbh there is not a single bad song on this album... would even considering buying it. So far the best listening expercience for me, it gives you just a good mood. Songs which stood out in no particular order (credits to Uncle Gue for the idea): "When I Kissed The Teacher" "Dancing Queen" "That's Me" "Fernando" ------------------------------------------------------------- Rating Scale: 1- very bad 2- bad 3- neutral 4-good 5-very good additonaly -/+ sign if necessary

Certainly one of the greatest Album of all time! With that Album Abba was established as one of the best pop groups in the 70s. Personal Top3 in no order: Dancing Queen Knowing Me, Knowing You Money, Money, Money

Superb album. Really well-crafted, with a consistent sound and themes throughout but each song generally has a moment or two of magic. I can't say I enjoy all the songs on the album; I don't care for "Dum Dum Diddle" or "That's Me", but the rest are pretty solid bangers. "My Love, My Life' is one of my favourite songs. I don't really understand how you can give this album a low score, other than if you are a bit mad in the brains and trying to conform to being cool.

Great album. Full of bangers

DANCING QUEEEEN OH YEAAAH

So many classic pop songs, that deserves 5 stars

I’m gonna pretend we live in the alternate reality where this album opens with that iconic “Dancing Queen” piano roll—not the bizarre teacher simping. ABBA are obviously better musicians than I will ever be. But what’s incredible (and incredibly frustrating) is that their songwriting in their non-native English is still better than I will ever do.

just fabulous, as expected. the back half was even better than i remember

I love that global reviews range from "utter garbage" to "it's the best thing that happened to music" :D 5 stars for being able to stand the test of time so perfectly.

This is witchcraft. I just can't sit still when this plays

It has been scientifically proven that it is impossible for me to listen "Money, Money, Money" or "Dancing Queen" only once during listening of this album.

Some of the best of abba, upbeat beats and thought provoking lyrics

Послушано.

Great!!

an obvious classic, a lot of their best songs. like the scottish influence since they spent a lot of time in glasgow. my love, my life is so beautiful

Iconic: from first track to last this just slapped. Felt like I was watching Mama Mia all over again. I don't think anyone can come to scrutinize ABBA that much unless they are a pure hater. This is white girl/musical enjoyer/disco/middle age mum core in its finest form, songs to just stick on a sing along to for the full length of the album.

I'm British.

it’s ABBA,it’s amazing.Even if the lyrics are a bit weird sometimes the vocals are amazing and the chorus’s are catchy.”Dancing queen” “knowing me knowing you” “Fernando””money money money money” are all amazing.

First album by ABBA on this list? one of the truely must listen albums which is weird considering I never had. Knew the big tunes of course but there's so much quality here. They get a bad rep as they pretty much defined pop and so much bad came after them, but what music.

100% loved it !

Love ABBA!!

Absolute banger

What a great album, so many memorable songs. Just a great album to get up and groove to.

Its Abba 👍

I get it now.

Liked the hits, the rest was Meh.

pretty nice

In 1974, ABBA were an off-the-shelf guilty pleasure injected into the veins of pop music. Across the intervening fifty years, all of the guilt has slowly been drawn out like poison from a cherry bakewell, until only pure pleasure remains. There shouldn’t be much debate any more: it’s useless to argue that Benny and Bjorn weren’t masters of their craft, or that Anni-Frid and Agnetha didn’t have harmonies made in heaven. No amount of Eurovision tributes, West End revivals, summer blockbusters, or VR experiences can dilute the power of a band like ABBA. And yet some niggling doubt remained, hovering in the back of my mind as I assessed “Arrival”. Was I really going to give the full five stars to an album including refrains like “dum dum diddle, to be your fiddle” and “Carrie-not-the-kind-of-girl-you’d-marry… that’s me”? Such corn, such schmaltz? Well, on listening to a full album of ABBA material like this, we face several empirical truths: 1. Only this band could make opening lines like “everybody screamed, when I kissed the teacher” so giddily endearing. 2. No amount of radio play can tarnish the thrill of “Dancing Queen”’s piano glissando, or “Money Money Money”’s hokey cabaret figure. 3. As much as the uptempo tracks shine, there’s a beautiful handcrafted elegance in “My Love, My Life” and the instrumental “Arrival”. Listen to them too roughly and they might just shatter in your ears. 4. Above all, these are absolutely perfect pop songs. I could go on, but the music can speak for itself. The cascading chorus of “Knowing Me Knowing You”, reaching a peak in “breaking up is never easy, I know”. The glam stomp of “Tiger”, evoking their early Eurovision winner “Waterloo”. And, yes, “Dum Dum Diddle” is great fun too. There’s no guilt any more: no irony, no shame. “Arrival” is simply a faultless album by a peerless band.

This album is vibes dancing queen and Fernando still hold up

Fun album

Crazy how many hits are on this album. As a lover of pop music, this album is irresistible.

Phenomenal pop album

Dancing Queen! Then it's mandatory to give a 5.

i mean…amazing.

Guess it's their best collection of songs

peak perfection

Tremendous

A perfect pop album.

Como pode o ABBA, apenas uma banda com quatro mariconas cintilantes, ter inventado a felicidade?

Abba does not suck. I grew up listening to Abba on road trips with the family, so they will always remind me of happy loving times. The music is catchy and bright. The voices are unique. And any band that has a song about kissing the teacher rules. Tiger is kind of annoying, but I want to change it to "Tyler" and use it as my creeping song.

- Unbelievably catchy, feel good music - Dancing Queen is one of the greatest songs of all time - Big fan of Tiger

Not all perfect but it has Dancing Queen.

abba's music contains such energy. they are incredibly easy to listen to! arrival with its release in 1976 must have been an oddball. this was rock's heyday, and an album of such light pop and disco must have been unusual, even though it wasn't abba's first release. but there's a sense that abba is unashamedly having fun, and it leaves the listener with such joy--or at least it does with me! some lyrics here can be almost silly ("dum dum diddle"), but i can't bring myself to care much when there's "dancing queen" or "money, money, money," because listening to abba is all about having a good time. honestly, i couldn't stop listening to this album!

Hesitant to put this as a 5 because I'd say it's closer to 4.5 but it's undeniable the influence and scale of the songs on this album, not something I would listen to regularly but great nonetheless

Сладенько, приятно, хитово, влюбляющее. Просто великолепная работа. Алкоальбом: дискотека дома с домашним вином

Heerlijke muziek. Dit album heeft veel van de bekende hits, maar ook want ander leuk materiaal. In mijn ogen een album dat in deze lijst thuis hoort. *****

My childhood <3

- yay!! - money, money, money is criminally underrated

Swedish bias all you like. I dont care its a 5

Now this ABBA album I did love

I’m so glad I managed to give up the idea of only liking “cool” music and allowed myself to enjoy ABBA. Pretty much the perfect pop package. Production, visual, lyrics, vocal - I can’t think of another pop act that does everything ‘in house’ so well. Worth noting that this is the first time they used that genius palindrome ambigram logo. And here’s their best album, jammed with hits. Has to be 5 stars.

If you don't find yourself bopping along to this album, you need to check your pulse! So many classic dance hits here, it's unreal. And as an album, it's surprisingly cohesive - even operatic - and holds up really well even now. This is an excellent album.
