Trout Mask Replica
Captain Beefheart & His Magic BandI totally dug that offbeat album. It’s obvious to see the influence it had on Tom Waits and I look forward to giving it another listen.
I totally dug that offbeat album. It’s obvious to see the influence it had on Tom Waits and I look forward to giving it another listen.
I just couldn’t get behind this album. I don’t know how this is talked about on level with Dark Side of the Moon.
Funky grooves. Really dug Spaces Cowboys
3.5/5 Some tracks I absolutely love on this album and many I can pass on. Can’t wait to watch the film again now.
So many layers. I love it!
Not a bad album, just really not my jam.
30 albums in and not finding I’m not a fan of prog rock. Tom Sewyer and Limelight we recognizable and fine, but not something I can ever see listening to on my own.
This album caught me on a good day & I really it.
Such an amazing and soulful album. Can’t wait to give it another listen!
Man, I connected with no part of this album. Felt like an hour plus of just screaming and I wanted to scream back at it. Not an enjoyable listen for me… but cheer to those who dig this album!
I really enjoyed how the playfulness of the trio. Can’t wait to give it another listen.
Such a great album. The classic songs, amazing energy of this live performance and passionate signing from Sam Cooke! This will be in heavy rotation for years to come.
Love the blend of rock, r&b, soul and a really nice Ennio Morricone western vibe. Can’t wait to explore more of Michael Kiwanuka’s music
That was a nice salsa album that I want to check out again. The album cover is good a note giving a hint as to what is about to come & it felt ominous in the first notes this was going to be a heavy disco album…thankfully (for me at least) it wasn’t!
It was great to hear some live blues on here. You can really see the influence Muddy Waters had on generations of musicians!
This album put me in a bad headspace. I can appreciate the amazing wordsmith Eminem is, but this horrorcore genre filled with misogyny and homophobia really bothers me. I wonder who this album is for and where the enjoyment in listening to can come from. I definitely won’t be going back.
Not something I’d ever listen to again. Few fun dance songs though
A fun experience.
This album was putting me to sleep until Nature Boy came on and then I wanted to watch Moulin Rouge. I was really not into this album
I could listen to this album everyday. Absolutely love the sound mixed with so many cultural musical expressions being celebrated.
Some classic songs on there and nice beats throughout, but as a whole that album didn’t vibe with me. Sounds like Biggie had a lot to work through, but I can’t deal with all the misogyny and talk of murder.
I can see how that would be groundbreaking electronic music in 1977 that would influence a lot of people to come. Not something I’d ever listen to again though.
This was a fun listen that makes me want to see how Femi Kuti’s music might have evolved over the years.
Had a few fun tracks that I bet were pretty influential when this came out.
I was pleasantly surprised by this album and would definitely listen to a few tracks again
That was a nice listening experience. Loved the folksy, bluesy southern rock sound throughout!
I just didn’t jive with this album. To mellow and I don’t think dreampop is a genre I’d ever return to
So many great songs on one album!
Some killer songs on this album and I want to take a road trip just to blast it in my car. I think my liking of it overall will improve with repeated listening
Worth a listen once, psych rock is not my jam
This was a good album to listen to on the treadmill and that is the one and only time it will ever be played. Grindcore is in no way something I’d ever choose to listen to and I got no enjoyment from it, but I’d still rather listen to that than some of the new wave albums that have come across this list.
That album was so bland for me…nothing stood out and it was a slog to get through
I wanted to connect with this album a lot more than I did. I think I really like a lot of the later collaborations Emmylou Harris does, but there were not any songs I’d go back to listen to from this album
Eh, few okay tracks…kinda forgettable background music
I could listen to this album everyday. This puts in in this super chill mood and every track is magical.
Weird as hell and I think would be fun to see live but definitely not my jam
It was fine. Nothing stood out and I could easily never listen to another track from this album.
I didn’t know what to expect going in and I liked a few of the songs.
I really enjoyed this music from Brazil and would love to give this a listen again.
Eh, not bad. Nice music to listen to on a long run.
What a sweet album and wonderful global downtempo feeling throughout. Finding music like this is one of the reasons I love this project!
Still can’t get into Cat Stevens. I think it’s something about his voice that gets under my skin. Not rational, I know.
Such wonderful, swampy, sticky sounds. I can definitely see the influence on future artist like Tom Waits! Can’t wait to give it another listen and explore more Dr John.
Such an amazing album! I could listen to this bluesy Stones album from start to finish everyday!
Not feeling any part of this album. Unfortunately easily forgettable.
It was fine. Nothing memorable for me
I would have so been into this a decade ago when I was regularly going to Burning Man… now a bit more sober and I’m so not feeling this. A
I’m so happy to see when I went to look up this band in the big book as to a reason for its inclusion on this list that it appears to have been removed from the 2021 edition. Thank god!
Amazing. I heard bits and pieces through the years and it was wonderful to give it a listen from start to finish. This will be in high rotation for a long time to come
I like that album. Very much a mellower Flaming Lips that highlights the best parts.
Lovely album that will be listened to for years to come
Channeling my Bakersfield vibes and place of birth here. Don’t think I’d ever listen to this album again, just now my kind of country jam.
It was fine, just didn’t click with this 60 garage rock. I can see how’d they be influential encial
Some real hits that last to this day.
I loved Joan Armatrading’s voice and most of the songs were great.
I enjoyed most of it. Don’t think I’d listen again, but really loved the second half of Bluebird
That was some fun outlaw country. Not that I’ve ever listened to any, but it makes me think I should listen to this music of my birthland… Bakersfield, California.
A lot of emotion behind this album. Really good all around!
Not usually a genre I listen to, but I was getting into some of these funk songs
Could not get into this at all
I really enjoyed this classic Paul Simon album and there were some great songwriting going on here!
I enjoyed some of the songs while listening, but have to say none were memorable or left an impression on me.
I appreciated that album. Might not go back, but I liked it
There is something so soothing about Nick Drake’s voice and playing style. I will listen to him for years to come.
You know ‘The Song That Doesn’t End’… well, this felt like the album equivalent. It all sounded the same and none of it was enjoyable.
First Elvis album I’ve ever listened to. Enjoyed it and some pretty recognizable songs, don’t think I’d got back for another listen though.
I liked that album more than I thought. I wouldn’t listen to it on its own, but I’m glad I got to hear this legendary Metallica album in full at least once!
I enjoyed just about every song on this self titled Bad Company album. Would give a listen again!
I enjoyed that punky country sound from the early 80’s.
That was a nice album and she had a powerful voice!
This album as a whole is much better than the one ‘Red, Red Wine’ song of theirs that I know.
I appreciate it, but not my jam.
Not something I’d ever listen to outside this project, but it did enjoy it!
I really enjoyed many of the songs on this album. It would be great to see The Specials live someday!
I enjoyed the first few tracks and can only imagine how cool it was back in the mid 1970s. The back half, not so mucb
I totally dug that offbeat album. It’s obvious to see the influence it had on Tom Waits and I look forward to giving it another listen.
This album blew me away & I can’t wait to listen to more from them. Love some global blues!
I wanted to like this Stones album a whole lot more than I did. Maybe the next one will click
I could listen to this all day!
Feels like I’m roam the tranquil, vast landscapes of Iceland
I don’t know why Maria Carey has all the top Christmas songs because The Birthday Party has a bunch of holiday bangers.
Not feeling this album at all and even though I just listened to it, I can hardly remember a song.
Not my jam, but it was interesting to hear another side of The Bee Gees.
I just couldn’t get behind this album. I don’t know how this is talked about on level with Dark Side of the Moon.
Better than I though, wouldn’t go back
That was fun to hear some of the origins of hip hop
I dig this Black Sabbath album. It wasn’t as intense as I assume their albums would be and more lyrical.
I’ve always been a trip hop fan and this album as a delight to listen to. Makes me want to take a deeper dive into Massive Attack
This psychedelic hippie bullshit is giving me a headache this morning.
It was fine, I guess. Nothing stood out or was memorable.
Not my jam, but a good album to listen to once
I really dug a few of these tracks. Not sure I’d go back, but it was a fun listen
I think I would of been absolutely in love with this album if I’d listened to it 20 years ago. Heard the Tom Waits influence and how it might have contributed to the sound of Jason Webley.
This was a great Christmas album and one I will come by to for years. I loved how it was presented to us on Christmas Day!
There were definitely some classics here. Not a huge Santana fan but I did not manage to fall asleep while listening to the album (unlike when I saw him live with DMB once.)
This album had some great songs on it, but the message becomes lost in a lot of places looking through the eyes of so many recent events with Kanye’s Holocaust denial and general insane antics.
There were a few classics and new tracks that I really enjoyed.
Easily forgettable able for me and feels like the kind of thing that would be background music at a grocery store.
I enjoyed this album more than I expected.
I did enjoy the song Written on the Forehead, but otherwise it was hard to get through
There was a total of one song I enjoyed & this album as a whole got under my skin for some reason
That was a tough one to get through. I enjoyed parts & and was exasperated by these long jamming sessions.
Throughly enjoyed this early Neil Young & Crazy Horse album. Can’t wait to give it another listen and hear more from Neil. I miss those Bridge School Benefit days.
I’m not a Billy Joel fan, but I enjoy a few of the songs on this album.
This album was so much fun to listen to and I’m glad I got a chance to. So many legendary tracks.
I’m glad I listened to this once and enjoyed some of the tracks. I think this album would best be experienced as intended on the dance floor.
Had some alright songs but I just couldn’t get into it. It took me a few days to muster the nerve to get through this 39 minute album and I kept thinking ‘why is this album on this list of just listens where artists like The Carolina Chocolate Drops are not’
I kind of enjoyed it. Nice background music. Don’t think I’d listen again. Felt like it could of been a soundtrack to a Zach Braff film in the early 2000’s
Quite a lot of hits I recognized and somewhat enjoyed, but I think this album went on for about a half hour too long.
That was so hard to listen to and none of it was enjoyable. God, I hate early 1980’s synth-pop type music.
I was into it.
It was fine. Nothing stood out to me & it’s quite unmemorable. 2 1/2 stars if I could.
This album took me so long to get through and it wasn’t enjoyable. A few tracks had some nice guitar work, but nothing memorable.
Such a classic album with some many amazing artists. This is one I can see going back to many times in the years to come.
I really enjoy this album and have a lot of good memories associated with it! I want to be an old guy in a bar belting these songs out with a crowd!
There were some pretty good songs there.
Barely a 3, but it was fun in some parts to listen to
Not really my jam, but I enjoyed a few of the songs
Great listen and I enjoyed just about all of the tracks
I’d be fine never having listened to this album. Few recognizable tracks, eh.
Interesting message at an interesting time in our history. Wouldn’t go back to listen
This album gave me anxiety in a lot of spots
That is a lovely album I can see going back to to experience again
Enjoyed a few tracks and the style
Enjoyed a track or two, couldn’t get into it overall
Dug the song Stero Sanctity, rest was alright.
I enjoyed the heck out of this album and could listen to this everyday!
A lot of enjoyable songs and great voice.
I’m tryin’ to Marie Kondo this album, but it’s gotta go. It sparks no joy.
About 50/50 for me
Song great songs and singing
I enjoyed parts of it. On track towards the end reminded me of an instrumental version of ‘Annie’s Song’
I enjoyed a number of the tracks and would give this another listen
It was fine. Don’t think I’d ever listen again
Sure
Not feeling this one
I’d still take this over System of a Down any day of the week. Vocals reminded me a bit of Jónsi or even Bono in a few spots.
An interesting listen, nice music to embalm to. Would not listen again
Had some weird ass songs mixed with some really good ones. Hearts & Bones was a great track.
That was a fun listen and there were some real highlights
I enjoyed this album more than I thought I would
Probably my third favorite version of Hallelujah, couldn’t get into the rest of the album
Actually liked this album more than I thought I would.
Yep, definitely sounds like he has some stuff to work through. I liked a lot of it.
I enjoyed this album. Really felt its influence on The Streets, especially on the Ride On and Turn the People On. Love that storytelling vibe.
Some good song I recognize. Don’t think I’d go back to listen, but wouldn’t turn off if it came off
I’ve loved this album for a long time and will keep coming back to it
Some night songs and I dig the lower fi sound quality.
A lot of nostalgia on this album and some great tunes!
That was an amazing album of so many classics & passionately sung.
I’ve gone back and listened to this album a few times so far and have been enjoying it a lot
I enjoyed it, I think I wanted to like it more than I did though. Maybe give it another listen sometime soon.
I just couldn’t get into it. Sure it was revolutionary at the time of its release, but not for me.
