Insanely surprising arrangements. Full of personnality, much more than I expected when I saw this was a singer-songwriter affair.
Exceptional sound on this album, felt so original and decisive, wondering about the random parts of silence though, is it just my version on Spotify?
Jawdropping material, compositions so creative with crisp production, the last couple of songs stay interesting but not as replayable as that first 8-song stretch which is perfection.
Very very anthemic, beautiful chords and climaxes, feels very special but at the same time, how grandiose and reverby it is takes away from a personnal connection to the songs
absolutely insane, seems like it influenced everything I love, the energy and riffs fit so perfectly together, the best chaos ever
i did not expect it to be this blunt and raunchy, i loved it
so much fun, these basslines will be stuck in my head forever
i cant really stand this, it generally has a nice sound, but the ideas sound like people I cant stand making music today, so all over the place, but going nowhere at all. I loved Nobody's Home and Comfortably Numb going into this, but nothing else came close, no chord sequence, interesting instrumental part or fully realized and honest-feeling sentiment
really has not aged well I feel, i always heard my dad praising this and DSOTM and Animals, those other two i found great, and here I kind of despise this. It kind of just made me realise how I love Genesis and everything they did until 1980, cause at least they never were this musically middling. here its like they do absolutely nothing, expect pads and slow drum fills until a guitar solo comes through. Side C is pretty good tho
absolutely wonderful, especially at night, has a vaporwave-like quality to it, and the chords and melodies evoke so much, you dont need anything else than that and those sick drums
Did not expect those incredible basslines in the first half, plus those sick intricate drum machine beats, it slaps. Second half is not as great, but a really interesting sound I wish more artists revisited today
Sick liberated sound, from the first song, you're hit with artistic choices free of bullshit and it's a very nice ride
Not as bad as The wall, but way too theatrical, and filled with too many ideas, Side C flows pretty great tho, and Overture and Underture are great
I never thought Reggae was actually this good, and magical. My heart rate slowed down, all my problems went away, and I am in awe of this music
I have been in love with this album for about 10 years, the sound is so unique, revolutionnary, there are less interesting songs on here, but so many crazy ideas, like Genesis, Newjack, The Party, DVNO and Stress. I wonder how they ever came up with them and how they created the sounds. Sometimes the mix and compression can hurt some songs, but this is a classic
crazy original, singular, and mesmerizing, and its variety and progression
I'm blown away, I love all the harsh choices made on this album. It's everything I wanted from other Rolling Stones albums i heard. A organ solo out of nowhere with a fat ass tone, not respecting the key that much. Big sax licks and solos, 3 minutes breakdows to end songs, and Wild Horses and Moonlight Mile being some of the most beautiful songs I've heard, which I wasn't expecting
absolutely crazy good, feels like a ride on the highway during the apocalypse, crazy chops by the musicians, and the best guitar riffs on top of each other
Janelle is an incredible performer and the last two songs are so much wonderful, but it's occasionally spotty and too complex for its own good
Of course opener and closer are some of the best songs ever, but these drums in general are all insane, some chord progressions like Getting In Tune and Bargain are so interesting, and synths and everything sounds so good, they make this stand above other The Who material I've heard
really special ambience to this one, but if youre not in the right mood, these songs can feel empty and filled with silence and awkwardness, instead of the interesting mystery of detuned samples and raw drums
really great energy throughout, the songwriting and mixing could use more punch, but the emotions feel very true and focused. Even if Grohl has not yet utilized his voice the best, he comes up with great melodies and sells you on his ideas nicely. Songs like Floaty and X-Static stand out for their superb grooves
really great sound, can sound a bit like a musical, but it makes you dream and float so i forgive it
this needs more recognition, omg i'm so glad to have found this. These are incredible musicians, one-of-a-kind performances, a really tight vision. The sax solos, the climaxes, the pacing, its all a slam dunk
good songs that standout here, when the weird chords they try carry some sort of emotion, and when they try with the structure and arrangments, when the lyrics dont suck (why go) and when the singer's voice doesn't become terribly insufferable (like it did for me when listening to a full album of his style)
his lyrics are so funny, the singer has a british quality to him even if he isn't, I found the themes to just be brought together so well by the musical attitude and vocal performances
Everything she does with her voice is wonderful and so inspiring, but the production can feel one-note and a little cheesy. Last two songs are incredible though
I am so extermely surprised I am in love with this, Im a total poptimist but I ever expected that to translate to 80's hits. The harmonies and compositions are perfect
I cannot believe she wrote this at 17-18, absolutely insane. Gripping songs you still see the influence of in so many songwriters and performers today. Shadowboxer, Criminal, Slow Like Honey, The First Time, Carrion, all these songs made my jaw drop
Crazy fun production and songwriting, sometimes its old mix can make it sound more samey than it actually is
extremely beautiful and touching, his song lyrics and subjects impress me the most
really nice songs but some shaky singing on the b side, which i did not expect, given that i though they were known for their vocals
She's so funny with a great performance on this album, and the switch to more synthy sounds (after I listened to the original mix) was a great call. It makes the album diverse, and when drums, guitars and saxophones hit, it really packs a punch
I really love this kind of production that sounds like Darkchild (even if it is not produced by him) and just RnB in general with great vocals and runs like this, but some songs are so corny and void of personnality, like Nasty Girl, Sexy Daddy and Emotion. Shoutout to Apple Pie à la Mode and Fancy for being great underrated hidden gems
Axl is a good vocalist (yes I really think this), his register switching and performance is so great and memorable. The guitars solo and drums are incredible. Paradise City is the best song ever. But some songs here on b-side are so void of anything fun, the album gets wack. Anything Goes and Rocket Queen especially suck
pretty goddarn cool, the organ solos rip, and the compositions flow nicely with punchy segways
This is the real deal. The gay club music of my dreams. Noises so high pitch can be aggravating on Cobra Bora and 808080808 but great stuff all around
good energy but boring compositions for the most part, some good choruses but the music ends up being mid, but the lyrics are so simple that you pay attention and I kinda like that
One of the first time the UK-ness of an artist has put them off, their diction and attitude and all that ends up being repulsive lmao. I normally like anything that seems low-brow like that, but with those lyrics about boys will be boys and girls all the time, its just a bad combo. Maybe I just would not like Irish (punk?)
Bonkers amounts of energy, and performances I would die to see live. Creepy lyrics tho
extremely fun playing and sounds all around, I love this period of music outside of the bass sound sometimes. Ballads here are supremely beautiful, piano solos as well
Extremely tight and satisfying playing. Great band, but I do prefer James Brown when the cuts are built upon and extended, like Lost Someone and the Medley
Beautiful, fun, elegant, great simple concepts executed extremely well. Varying instrumentation keeps me on my toes and gets this album the edge it needs to be wonderful, even if it's only following its title's instructions.
Amy is an insanely great performer, but not every song is the best idea it could be, and the production can be unsurprising
Great beats, the bass and drums and brass are all around fantastic. Great flows and interesting perspectives but some awkward moments and transitions bring it down for me
why would I care to listen to music so harsh, with so little care given to mesh things together well for feelings to feel right. The cabaret elements, strings and all could have been cool if incorporated better, but it all feels so goofy, especially the lyrics too. Probably for people who like to be way more depressed than me
incredible dance music and so great for gaming and racing games. Has so much personality. Love Island has some weird drum programming that messes with me a bit but otherwise its all great.
Highlights : Gangster Trippin, Kalifornia and the 3 big songs
this feels so good and warm to listen to. It is a joy
most beautiful music ever, every note from every solo seems so tasteful, i wanna play jazz and respect it and dive in it more than ever, to express myself in that way
amazing performances and catchy songs
The constant brushes keep it so constant it can become mindless, but it does sounds pleasant
so inventive and forever fresh, but im not the biggest fan of every sound or chord choice yet
dont hate this at all, but I might just not get it, great energy and sometimes whatever songs
so beautiful, harmonium vibes, i would have appreciated less reverb-y moments maybe tho
she's incredible but I wish Norman f*cking Rockwell was in this list instead, cause thats a perfect album, a little more varied and more memorable
chill music, great sound all throughout, not that memorable tho
Really cool shit, and interesting mixing makes it always fun to analyze
really inspiring how people can communicate this well while jamming, and build solos and structure so well, I loved this, especially the tones chosen
so beautiful and pleasant and dreamy, but kinda one-note
great grea music that sticks with you through the years. maybe its missing a song that picks up in the later section but its great
I am mesmerized by the quality here. The best sounds out of the 80's ever, harmonies, melodies, chords, guitar and keyboard sounds. I am in love
extremely surprised, this has that real good emotion and touches of soul I loved. I was really invested with the singer's performance and lyrics
really sick album, straight up blues, sick acoustics, but I really don't like the song Friends, it's way to dissonant and out of place for no reason
so funnn, and the playing is so great, so fresh. The more you hear Piazzolla, the more your recognize his style, and it's super distinct and fun to follow
a sound so comforting, as well, as songwriting and chords that flow so seamlessly yet can still surprise you. An absolute master at work
absolutely nothing interesting in the boring uniform sound here, and the production is so head ache inducing and buzzy, chords and melodies feel lost, never sticking, no nuances. but it's ok enough for the background i guess
best storytelling ever, Kendrick is an absolute talent at everything he does, the beats are perfect and some are so smoothful with nice Rhodes and guitars (something that will be even more incredible on his next album). The reviews saying this album is offensive have no respect for black history and culture
this is that good shit. comfy, beautiful lines from everyone
beautiful and very pretty but Pink Floyd still feel a little one-note, enough so to not entirely impact me all the way through, one day I'll get over it maybe
it ends up one note, outside of the 3 bigger noteworthy songs
super beautiful and dreamy stuff, puzzling rythms are worked in so well, feels like layers upon layers but it's really magical reverb
sounds kinda doodoo, old in a bad way
Bob Dylan is sick as helll, funny and sassy but he'd become even better on his next one
i was pleasantly surprised, almost as great as Sound Of Silver, almost more consistent, but it doesnt have that many huge highs
this is so fresh, i love them so much. they commited all the way to their emo shit and slayed
absolutely freaking incredible music that creates its own lane, makes you dance and sweat but also makes you think. It's like entering into the weirdest party ever, but actually being surprised by how crazily memorable and special the night will be.
Some songs are definite standouts all the time, and some only work when you cant notice the repetition (like when dancing)
This stuff is majestic. It's expansive, fun, campy, intricate, with great performances. Maybe their peak, The Battle of Epping Forest can be a little long and maybeee just a smidge over the top tho.
Firth of Fifth is absolutely perfect, best chords, best piano riff, best guitar solo, best flute solo.
I Know What I Like is the best pop song ever.
endlessly creative project. Beck in general is so impressive in how he presents fresh ideas with every album, yet always seems so cool and himself. A goat TBH.
really freaking cool, and full of personality
extremely beautiful, proves how important vocal melodies can be without really having lyrics, and how people should listen to more music in foreign languages. Sounds like the best parts of Coldplay in some ways, but all killer and dreaminess, no bullshit
a goddarn masterpiece, Im in absolutely awe of the warmness of the sound here, and the absolute perfection of the songwriting, legendary timeless stuff
some crazy great ideas, not an amazing album
Masterpieces : Packt Like Sardines, Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, Like Spinning Plates, Life In A Glasshouse
Ray Charles in incredible, as a pianist and as a performer. Makes this a lovely listen, although sometimes the big band arrangements are not all that needed, which is why I enjoy the ballads on here more
wow, this rock album has suprisingly ambient elements that I love so much, it's relaxing in ways that feel so honest, great listen
great stuff, and some wonderful ambient adjacent pop, but its missing the amazing songs of there other album, Hats
one of my favorites sonic palettes ever. Choirs, mallets, brass, sufjan's voice. The best combo
this thing is so fun, they dont make white boys like this anymore
what more can be said about this one. It does the most while sounding like the least, it's filled with beauty but also determination. So calculated yet so free
this is not that much for me, some songs can be quite slow, and some productions could benefit from being like truly jazzier and free, she's a great vocalist tho
the most beautiful album about death. without being directly spiritual it takes to fairy worlds, the great unknown and makes it all not so bad. It's a beautiful exploration of heartwrenching feelings
amazing stuff but it's hard to compare to the once-in a lifetime title track that opens up and makes you think the album will follow being as magical
Good but it did feel like I'd heard all the greatness that took from it and came after so this didn't it like crazy, I much prefer On The Beach's musical palette, but the songwriting and production here is still phenomenal
beautiful, unique in its choices, creative and soulful sound in a way that feels effortless. My fav from him. River Man especially gets me everytime
this has super great tones and ideas, especially I Am The Resurrection, which is such a jammy jam in the best way. Sometimes it doesn't feel distinct enough for the songwriting to jump out, but it's still a really enjoyable record
crazy atmosphere and beats so perfectly ear-grabbing. Nas never lets the listener drift off and its perfect like that. It's just not a project I'd listen to a ton.
Sound adventures that keep surprising you. When my dad gave me 3 vinyls to start my collection, I was replaying this one endlessly and falling in love
quality songwriting and recording throughout. Doesn't do that much to stand out, but it is so comfortable to listen to
goat music. fun, funny, groovy. I love music and these instruments
Biggie commands your attention so much, it's such a nice rap album that isn't just comfortable staying in the background, but at the same time, it has a great ambience and atmosphere, just louder, like a charismatic friend constantly talking to you
great productions and rapping, but doesnt do a lot to surprise or demand attention
great productions here, and On Hold is a wonderful song, but others stay so inoffensive it can be frustrating
this one is not for me, I absolutely prefer Magdalene, her album after this one, but here the experiments are not resonating with me. I want more songs, in a way that is kinda close to songwriting, that's why I think Lights On is a perfect song here, it experiments with sound over an expansive and great production while also giving you wonderful verses and a great hook
ok it is a 5. I always found the recording and every single instrument here so wonderful, it also serves the songwriting and makes it shine, and that songwriting is so fresh, it would be incredible in 2024 as well. Wonderful music for any person, any age, one of their 3 masterpieces for me with Revolver and White Album
dylan slaying again, flexing his writing skills, he'd be even better later
Amazing disco and bass lines. PERFECT side A. The opener has to be one of the best openers ever. Slows down on the quality on Side B but not that badly. It's really great.
really tight and great sound, loses some of the absolute dreaminess and scope of their other albums tho
Just some magnificent music and texture and songwriting
praise miles. Instrumentation just makes me wanna dive into it, and ambience here seems like nothing else that ever existed
the highest way of being you can reach, making this album, or listening to it. incredible
pure emotion, and the ones that are too often times hidden. a pure moment, real people, life's worth of feelings in songs and in a performance. wonderful stuff
this sounds amazing, like true artistry, pushing yourself in your late 60's to make a life-defining work. Praise to the creatives and long live Bowie
the mixing on the current spotify version is incredible, the harmonica resonates through my head, and Bob's performance is exceptionnally captivating. I'm in love
i dont like the bass solos, im sorry, im a fake jazz player and lover
so beautiful and of its time, in the best ways, 90's to the core, and I'm in love with the vibe, but it can kind of drift into meaningless in my head sometimes with its carefree attitude
wonderful, crazy, colorful, she's a icon, a legend, she is the moment, forever and always
excellent all around, they rocked so hard and so early, every member goes all out
so much music and yet all so powerful, so joyful, the title of the album says it all, but stevie's outlook on life and its translation into music is unlike no other, we are blessed to have him on this earth. I'd listen to this non stop to feel better
Stevie is an absolute joy to listen to always, he makes his own stuff, with his own manners, with makes him and his music have so much personnality. This here has some absolute classics but just doesn't always go above and beyond like his later albums will do
breathtaking all around, Nina is the best vocal performer and the best pianist. A masterpiece
freaking great, and weird only in the best areas, thom's voice sounds extrordinary, its young, bolstry, angry, melodramatic, guitars screech loud, but not every song is as magical as they would later get for the band
great beautiful touching honest stuff, even if i prefer his first two offerings, which were a little less stripped down
A really cool trip, that made me so in love with music when I was a kid. Coming back to it, it still sounds so concise and wonderful, but Within You Without You is not one of the best experiements with the sitar
I love this Taylor Swift era, very descriptive with its lyrics and precise with its arrangements. If folklore was in this list, I might have given a 5 to a Taylor album, but this one is a little bit less memorable, even if I respect the experiements with odd time signatures, and the song Closure which I love for its sound design
chock full of personallity, riffs, nice tones, and fast grooves that just transport me to UK pubs and vibes lol
You can just always put this one, what a great experience, and texture
First song absolutely had me jaw-dropped from its quality in the melodies, harmonies and pure emotion. It couldn't quite keep up but wow I fell in love with Neil Young.
Music that feels effortless and so expertly crafted at the same time. Its simplicity throughout can make it blend in, but it's truly a great soothing listen
legendary creativity. Peak, so purely original not everything sounded the best best, but it's a very welcome ride
more interesting for its place in the culture, and for its making-of process (which you can see 30 hours of, documented on Youtube), than for the album itself, but it definitely inspired a ton of great songs, and has a couple of truly incredible songs, with other breezy, a little overlong experiments
Banging jams on this thing, fun to just put on this vinyl and fall in love and get lost in time
Absolutely great subdued pop music. Touching and thoughful
My creative goat, this has wonderful tunes and creativity on full display, but tons of taste too and restraint. Blonde is even better tho
Absolute masterpiece that made me fall in music like no other album. I was blown away by the first 2 tracks I heard while shopping for CD's in the little booth where you used to be able to listen to CD's you put in it. The world of jazz has been an incredible discovery, and the discovery of hip-hop and its rich legacy and meaning has been as wonderful to discover. I still catch things from this album I hadn't noticed. This is such a classic, it's become standard that it's not going to be topped soon
good silly fun. simple constant instrumentation is pushed to creative limits in the best way
Stevie is a mf'in legend, just boss moves all around this thing
this screams classic all the way through. Beats and flows legendary, no skips
this one is so cute, so sunny, so comforting
great stuff, but Once In A Lifetime is so much higher than the rest album, it's hard to compare
extremely comfy music that truly soothes the soul, in different ways than anything else
Love Below is creativity pushed to the max, and Speakerboxx is a fun time
this is a great website for its concept, but it has terrible taste, this should be so much well respected, the character of kanye is pushed to the max and the production is harsh, precise and genius
incredibly comforting, her voice is magic, and every single guitar, bass and drum tone hits like soft cushions
songwriting gods. the more you discover every single song and how perfect they all are, the more you just replay and replay
I love you Ms. Pots & Pans, a deeply heartfelt and truly original work
so much fun, I love sassy Bob here, and the songwriting is so engaging and always moving
i cannot deny it. Maximalist masterpiece, feels like the longest party ever where every thing goes wrong and you reflect your whole life
doesn't deserve to be in this list, in some ways its a cash grab, but its ok
dreamy and out of this world, and yet still so precise and focused. an absolute masterpiece
masterpiece, stevie is the greatest gift we have ever had
Amazing sound palette and vibe, she's a queen and this was SUCH a great era, I love this album
greattt album but the intro and outro are really dated and useless
great stuff, every single sound makes me dream
an album that feels so unique, from such a precise point a view. I'm so grateful Rufus had his own voice to express all these songs with superb arrangements and melodies
i can't lie, this is absolutely amazing, it speaks on such modern stuff yet it still feels so dreamy, every musical part feels like the perfect choice and it still isn't cliché, it's always fresh. these songs will be incredible forever
the sound here is so precise it feels like its own portal you opened up, I love the feeling it gives off so much
this album feels like laying on the couch after a long day, i love it so much
I love the dusty beats and their voices so much
to make an album so full of life and wonder, is such a rare feat, not everything hits for me, but I love to be awestruck by this album
so much great stuff here, I love how much territory it explores, and it how sometimes just bursts wide open
SO GLAD THIS IS ON THIS LIST, also it's even better in french. Christine just has so much swag and attitude, and the songs and productions are so fun and slick
this is an extremely slick, smooth and pleasing record. I could have this playing for years and never get tired of this sound. Also the compositions are all just so good, and it feels like music that is urgent, and makes you wanna get up and give it your all by dancing or just by being a revolutionary in your life, in your own way
great but not as much as their other albums, not that many standouts but always a great sound with this band
repetitive but such a unique sound I sometimes can't get enough of
