Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Sep 19 2023

Strange and provocative at the same time. Love the instrumentation and cool drums and synths. Can hear some beginnings of the mid to late 80s Peter Gabriel in the making. But some of these songs are hard to follow.

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Sep 20 2023

I could listen to this every weekend morning with a cup of coffee. Or a smoky bar every weekend night. For jazz (my listening knowledge is pretty thin) this is smooth and really nice. Chaotic, as jazz can be, but the chaos is framed within the bass line, allowing each song to move along in a way that can enjoyed.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Sep 21 2023

Hmmm…can’t find the direction this album is going in. Not really one standout hit either. I think I heard the drums that were sampled for Hollaback girl. “The Cross” was kinda cool. Sounded very U2ish.

Liquid Swords by GZA
Sep 22 2023

Mid 90s hip hop. Not my forte. I was listening to a lot of hard rock and grunge and totally missed this album at the time, although I think this guy is part of the Wu Tang Clan?? Anyways not bad for hip hop. Booming bass and cool backgrounds and the rap is really solid and almost melodic.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Sep 25 2023

Hard to describe other than musically mature, beautiful and melodic. No real “hits” but really enjoyed the interplay between the band and the layers upon layers of cool sound. Tom Yorke sounds much more grown up as an artist and didn’t mind his voice this time. I never really listened to this album back in the day and missed out.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 26 2023

Iconic album cover; Bruce singing 110% like his life is on the line; Jimmy Iovine engineered big big sound; lots of saxophone; what’s not to love? Pretty awesome.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Sep 27 2023

Man that was a great listen. Can easily rub shoulders with early Zeppelin and Allman Brothers. Psychedelic, soul and a whole lot of dirty and intense rhythm and blues mixed into one. This album is so authentic and genuine and such a nice contrast to the polished and over mixed stuff of today. Janice Joplin is on top of her game and is just a fantastic singer. Love it.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Sep 29 2023

Sultry and sexy and sassy. Great album.

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Oct 02 2023

Fuck ya! Kind of a kick ass 90s album. I remember it well. Good times when fuelled by hard liquor, red bull and cigarettes. Ahhh younger me.

Abraxas by Santana
Oct 03 2023

Surprisingly really really enjoyed this album. Unfortunately got most of my Santana when he collaborated with late 90s artists and it sounded pretty contrived and lame. But early original Santana is something else completely. Raw guitar mixed with Latin sounds. Super cool.

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Oct 04 2023

Hardcore skater punk not quite my scene anymore.

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch
Oct 05 2023

If you want to listen to sad acoustic music that makes you want to give up on everything and jump out the window, this is the album for you! But it’s quite nice in a relaxing, melancholy kind of way.

Harvest by Neil Young
Oct 06 2023

I know this album. I own this album on vinyl. I love this album.
