There's A Riot Goin' On
Sly & The Family Stonenot bad, interesting choice to use electronic drums on some tracks. pretty relaxed and groovy funk
not bad, interesting choice to use electronic drums on some tracks. pretty relaxed and groovy funk
Хотя хит альбома C.R.E.A.M.
sounds like it was recorded just yesterday I like how the double bass sounds crisp and beautiful sound, love the strings would love to listen to it again, definitely goes into the media library
only in the USA
no too dissonant melodies, uninteresting, low energy, seems meaningless the 12 minute jam somehow sounds boring, having all potential for a banger the cover is perfect for the album I must say -- I think with this face he recorded the whole albums and never once changed the expression
I have to trust this was influential at the time comparing of other reggae I've heard, this is not very interesting, but still OK a lot of dub elements, so this was released after dub techniques became very widespread could not hear the lyrics too well, so cannot judge them like the cover
unexpectedly, I like it very much that's the type of music my father would listen to when I was a kid really like the chord progressions and the overall mood and blues -- here it sounds appealing to me, and that's rare still difficult to listen to lyrics and hear actual words, I mostly focus on the feeling
I like it since I was 13 energetic, folk-y love the sound of drums of white stripes
very rich sound and colorful palette like the atmosphere of the album and it sounds huge and intimate at the same time
really sorry to the fans, but to my ears this is the most boring album so far. could not listen to it, had to skip most of the songs I cannot imagine having more boring sound, more flaccid energy and overall being more insipid than this I understand if you grew up with this music, it probably means something. but for an outsider as me, it sounds bleh
take a glass champagne and come to our yacht, where we wear diamonds and secretly cheat on our spouses
the vibes of my teenagehood, but this album is new for me so it sounded pretty fresh. in contrast to other albums actually sounds distinct and decent. love the energy, would listen again
I highly enjoy the energy of the album and the music but it's so new to me, that I don't know what to comment
maybe I'll give it a re-listen, but for now it's solid, but did not leave a big impression
cheesy 80s. I can only wonder how it sounded when it was released. was it really something new and cool? "every Monday is goodbye Sunday" -- thanks, very deep. but not gonna lie, towards the end I started enjoying it more. Tears All Over Town is when I was head nodding along This album also made me think... Sometimes the most important insights are in the places we are most uncomfortable to look at. This energy is really uncomfortable for me, but why? Is it because they are unapologetically cheesy, emotional, "not cool", and sensual?
I'm starting to like these kinds of albums, and I can feel why it is legendary. It's simple but very powerful. Break up songs, songs about missing home, songs of love, it has it all.
"Valerio" is a perfect song for a lonely walk at night.
another rock-pop that makes me wonder, how it made it onto this list. okay, maybe if one was completely unaware of this 'alternative rock', then maybe. for me it really sounds as bland as it gets
like talking to a calm, sensible, serious and not flashy person, who also happens to be a poet. loved taking subway with Cohen
This album feels much older than it really is
love these guitars and the atmosphere, this album comes at a right moment in our 1001 albums journey, as a wake up call
unexpectedly to me, just could not listen to Rolling Stones. not drunk or high enough to withstand so much of young naive energy. no thank you, give me my usual cold depression
album filled with hits. I've listened to it a lot when a teenager, my father would put this on loudly on huge soviet speakers in the living room and the walls would rumble in contrast to other albums here, sounds quite political and psychedelic at the same time: that's reggae for you
another gem from the past. I read about Arctic Monkeys from the "Moloko" magazine, published in Kyiv. it was a brief moment when I hung out with the cool older kids who listened to indie rock. and Artic Monkeys became my favourite band for a brief moment. very danceable, high energy but different from, say, Rolling Stones, a bit colder and more punk, more '00ish.
I'm still surprised at how much I like Creedence Clearwater Revival. On paper it's everything I should hate: American rock'n'roll and country, annoying voice, hooray energy and a vibe of a drunk middle-aged man. But I enjoy it
pretty solid post-punk. I only listened to the Cure and soviet copy-cats, so this sounds very familiar. but surprised with esoteric and "oriental" features in some of the tracks
back when people were looking forward to what future holds with stupid optimism "whohooo, let's ride, ride on, ride on!" absolute nightmare to listen to awful voice the epitomy of "repeat the same notes enough times, they could start sound somewhat pleasant" how did this make it on the list is beyond me, I can find 10000 albums more interesting, pleasant and important. or was it somehow so influential that it absolutely needs to be heard?
Okay, turns out I like T.Rex! Somehow I missed that they wrote "Cosmic dancer".
ultimate fallout soundtrack surprisingly varied in emotion and energy
Another iconic album that I somehow never heard before. That's my vibe!
Irregular time signatures and raw power of rock and roll, what's not to love?
it's okay, I wish there was more of the jazz club atmosphere, more talking and people noises
another oldie soul pop album, sounds pleasant, but requires a certain mood. I feel that half of the list here is going to be albums like this one, albums that only matter to you if you grew up in the west один из мощных претендентов на звание "самые сложные щи столетия"
first time listening to ZZ Top, I like that it's toned down and kind of minimalistic, comparing to other over the top bands of the time
not in the mood
Quite good, I like addition of sounds that we seen as experimental at the time, but currently sound quite modern. And jazz also fit quite nicely
really really good jazz, not boring, but subtle. the cover fits the music quite well
Pleasant album. Sounds unsurprisingly similar to Beatles. In the end it drowns in waves of rock and roll.
organ- and guitar-driven craziness! two hours of non-stop movement that made the Soviet Union hide behind the Iron Curtain and ban all rock and roll music; a banger so powerful, my ears need a proper rest
torn between liking it and hating it first of all, this is not My Chemical Romance -- turns out I have been confusing them this whole time this album has a very distinct sound that was somewhat popular at the time, with a lot of distortion and detune sometimes it sounds great, like this emotional wall of sound sometimes it seems the song does not where it is going and just piling on sound on top of another
another gem from the past. I used to watch this on DVD with my father. the opening 4 songs are perfect, but the whole 2 hours of this is quite difficult to listen to. contrasted to the orchestra arrangement, it is weirdly obvious how limited Metallica music is
First time listening to a Bob Dylan album, and it's 1997 "Time Out of Mind". Very tasty blues, rich sound, and sometime just unbearable sadness in Bob's voice
could not finish it
pretty nice album and kudos for the not-random timing
today I was in the proper mood to listen to a cheesy rock-pop album where a bloke cries in my ear while barely articulating sounds. musically it's pretty good
I like it. It's a product of the time, but it's timeless. Needs a proper re-listen.
did not expect so much energy, did not expect to like this album so much
Most songs are mixed for the voice and the double bass to be the main focus. That made me think it's the equivalent of a 808 hip hop from the swing era. The album is okay
Not impressed by the regular songs, because probably my expectations were raised to high. But the ambient part was unexpected and awesome!
This is what is lacking in this list! Give me 10 albums like this one, instead of U2. On contrast with other albums so far, this one is special. Raw energy, great grooves
distilled blues
pretty good
Solid pop. The sound seems somewhat ahead of it's time.
some 1980s weirdness. for someone who did not grow up in the West, it is absolutely not interesting
a classic, but a first time listen for me really good
I want to like it, but it's difficult
one or two tracks were pleasant, but overall messy
now I know that Morissey is from the Smiths. never would have listened to him otherwise
they have their signature sound, and it's already in full throttle in their debut album. it's a perfect music for a bar
i like Peter Gabriel, my father used to listen to him often
today it was not up my allee. maybe another day it would be different
Jethro Tull is great
every jazz album on this list so far is top-notch
I needed to get past some of the cheesiness, but this is one of the best albums ever. it does not fail to lift up the mood, and musically it's just perfect. Stevie knows when to break expectations and when to repeat the same phrase for 5 minutes
thanks, it's awful
a good type of experimental
the instrumental tracks are awesome
Beautiful music, but bloody hell
A classic
What can I say, Bjork occupies a special place in my heart. I listened to this album since 7-8 years old. Great debut by independent Bjork, not yet her full-fledged style, but already interesting musically
it's okay, but does not belong on the list
pleasant
girl power and punk rock fits very well together
Now I know what Psychobilly means
full of hits, if that was released in my time, I would be a lifetime die hard fan
that's my jam, since 6 years old I've been hooked and there is nothing better. sampling used to the maximum, perfect balance of energy, rhythm and the whole spectre of feelings, masterfully created by the master of the craft I can pretty much play the whole album in my head and not skip any sound
I don't know what I was expecting. But I was kinda excited, like "finally, maybe my eyes will be open to wonderful pop music I have acidentally missed; that's a chance to become less of a snob". but no, it did not work. the music is awful, as bland as possible, literally unbearable to listen to. I would love to love Taylor Swift, but this time I could not
haven't heard this voice for a while
Could not find the right mood for the album, and i tried for almost a week. It's very long, it's almost free jazz
Pleasant album
Im very glad this record exists
very enjoyable album. respect for the 'unpolished' sound
A classic
filled with nostalgia
that was good, I guess I was in the mood
listening to this right after the Killers, and this album just went by almost unnoticed, but still a good aftertase
perfection, like the sound of drums, violin (violin?), guitars, bass, and the overall feel. this seems almost timeless, apart from a a few parts that betray that it's the seventies
pretty strong
cheesy, but genious
unbearable
would give it 5 stars, if it weren't a little too long
enjoyed it much more than expected
I listened to this album many times before. One of the great albums that we are lucky to have available
old U2 is pretty cool
Unexpectedly good and good kind of weird Of course, "Good vibrations" is a classic
did not like how it was mixed, but musically I enjoyed it
that's queen
Its long, weird and good
musically it's very good, the production is top quality, but it's difficult to enjoy this album now
not bad, interesting choice to use electronic drums on some tracks. pretty relaxed and groovy funk
great album carrying a mark of the times in sound and general feel. perfect use of sampling
Straight to library. Great music
it was fine. maybe even deserves a relisten
Some beats are very cool. But not the fan of the vocals and overall feel. Again, was hoping that maybe there was a gem in the pop music of my youth that I missed, but it turned out it was not really to my taste
Not a target audience and no nostalgia, so that's a pass
I like Norah
nice energy
in the sea of mostly 70-80 rock, which is this list, any hip hop album instantly catches attention. and this is a classic
I looked at the reviews and thought that they were exaggerating. well, they were not
it is not awful in the musical sense, but so awful in many others
