Either Or
Elliott SmithSome sweet sweet bummer rock, I enjoyed it, but it’s not a complete banger.
Some sweet sweet bummer rock, I enjoyed it, but it’s not a complete banger.
I really enjoyed this album, the recording was so good I felt like I was there!
It’s the same song 14 times over.
I don’t get the hype. I enjoyed Police and Thieves though
I enjoyed it, it wasn’t amazing but it was a good listen. I think it was a compilation from reading other reviews. Which shows why it was a bit disjointed.
I enjoyed a couple of tracks, but it was all a bit the same. Like the other punk albums, I also find the lead singer a tad monotonous.
I enjoyed the album, it felt like a complete album with some certified bangers that I added to my all-time favourites playlist. That being said, I thought that 'Stupid Marriage', 'Too Much Too Young' and 'Little Bitch' seemed a bit personal against an ex-lover perhaps? It stained my enjoyment of the album somewhat.
It started off well and I thought that I was going to be treated to some smooth jazz. Then some weird rap came in and it ended off a bit forgettable.
A good, whole album!
I enjoyed this album. It felt quite bluesy and sometimes like Bob Dylan, who I like!
I like jazz, there I said it. Jazz comes in many forms, I’m not sure I enjoy an entire album of Afro-Cuban Jazz. I like it but in moderation.
Sampling: 5 Beats: 5 Production: 5 Performance and vocals: 1 Too much screaming!
This was quite forgettable which I didn’t expect from The Rolling Stones!
Mother is the worst song I have heard in a long time. I miss the reggae influences. I can tell why they broke up after this album, disjointed and ironically the band members are out of sync with each other.
It started off good but got a bit dull towards the end.
Some sweet sweet bummer rock, I enjoyed it, but it’s not a complete banger.
I enjoyed this album, but I like a bit of dance music.
I’m getting bored just writing this review
I enjoyed it! Some bangers and it felt like a complete album.
I really enjoyed this album, end to end bangers
I didn’t enjoy this album. Even the much touted “my generation” was a bit tired. Also the stuttering was a bit much…
Gino is a banger and added to my library. I liked it when they trilled. Otherwise all the same.
An exceptional and complete album. It feels like a night out. The first half is full of dance floor beats and the second half is calming.
I didn’t think that it would enjoy that as much as I did. That being said, I don’t think I’ll listen to it again!
At first I thought that it was a bit mad. However after reading Robert Wyatt’s story of how he got drunk, fell out of a 4 story window, lost the use of his legs and worked on some songs whilst “in a trance” at hospital, I get it. It’s certainly experimental and Wyatt doesn’t have the most incredible singing voice, but the album links with the personal story which makes it rather poignant. Music ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lyrics ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Vocals ⭐️⭐️ Update: I’m now listening to “Alife” and I take it all back. This is now moving into the realms of poor music. When I started this I vowed to complete each album. This is a chore. Ok I got to the end. It’s not for me. It might be for some people, but it’s not for me.
I really enjoyed “After the Gold Rush” and “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” but the rest of the album was just alright.
I just kept waiting for it to end which is not the sign of a good album… Oddly enough though I did sort of enjoy “One of Those Things” as I could sing the lyrics to “Sweet Home Alabama” to it.
A fantastic album. A political or social piece perhaps but with some great beats and lyrics.
It reminded me of the old country back home. I haven’t even been to America before.
Really good. I felt Johnny’s energy coming through the music and the roar of the crowd with the anti-prison messages coming through the songs.
Apple Music says that this is “ U2’s most transformative album—the one that would re-jigger the band’s sound, re-energise its members and win over even the band’s fiercest critics” If this is the case then the others must be complete trash as this album was just trash.
I think it would make good background music at a festival, in the sun, drinking cider etc. But I didn't enjoy it on it's own.
ABBA will always score high, this is a good set of single songs but it is missing a story.
I enjoyed it, but I didn’t add any songs to my favourites playlist. I think I would have liked it more as a teenager than a 33 year old man.
I enjoyed the start however it did wear on me a bit. Perhaps I was not in the mood for metal-grunge.
Ace of Spades was ace, but it was a bit similar after that. Also they didn't go to the Apollo!
I enjoyed it, I liked the synth and “jump” is a certified banger. But it tapered off a bit in the end. Also it was a bit short. Short but sweet perhaps.
It felt a bit disjointed but a good album.
The album made me think of the original matrix movie. What a decade.
I love this album I listened to it many times in my formative years and have not forgotten a word!
I enjoyed this more than I thought. I preferred the music to the singing.
Very pleasant and easy listening. It’s as if some jazz made its way back to the Middle Ages.
There are no words. So good.
This album was my introduction to Kendrick back in 2015 which was a memorable year as I became a father for the first time. Listening back has given me flashbacks to memories I had forgotten. The power of music. Great album, even without the reveries.
A good album, not quite 5 stars but a good album.
It was alright, I think I enjoyed it because I remember it being around when I was a teenager. My mum must have had the album or it was on the radio or something. It’s not mind blowing though.
It’s Stevie Wonder so I thought it would be better than this. It was just a bit boring. Sorry Stevie.
I want what they’re drinking.
It’s funky and I like it. I especially like the song where Thundercat suggests life would be better being a cat and spends a decent amount of time in the song meowing.
Street life is a banger but the rest of the album belongs in a lift.
Nice, easy listening with some good ones in there. It didn’t blow my mind.
I enjoyed this! But I like Wu Tang and East Coast Rap so…
I do like David Gray, I think it is more from endless repeats by my Dad on road trips rather than the music.
It was pretty relaxing background music as I worked.
“Born In The USA” is a great track but I didn’t really need to listen to more of the same.
Wall to wall bangers but not particularly deep.
Some great songs and a decent album. One I hadn’t heard all the way through before but I am glad that I have now.
I hate this dainty 60s English folk music… I don’t get it. It makes me angry and I don’t enjoy it. I suppose it’s meant to paint an idyllic image of England… I don’t get it. I see why people do, and my brother, who I am sharing this musical journey with, will likely rate this highly. But it’s not for me. Sorry. Objectively good music, subjectively not my thing. Maybe I’m too sober for it?
This is the second album in as many days to cause me anger. It’s also the second album in as many days that is folk soft rock something like that. it shouldn’t cause me anger, It’s meant to be dreamy… Maybe I should get help
Basically the same song 12 times in a row.
I don’t get the Beck hype. It was alright but not worth of the book to be honest.
Really enjoyed this one, it’s right up my alley.
Good listening!
I enjoyed Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
I hadn’t listened to much by Black Sabbath before this. But I am a fan! Apart from “FX” that didn’t need to be in there!
I didn’t know what to put. I was torn whether I loved it or hated it. 3 stars!
Loved it… felt like I was in some dive bar in America and Tom was singing to me.
Some great songs but a tad too long for an album. It’s a bit disjointed.
It’s just not my thing
It’s just a bit dull… it’s like the songs that play in a shop when they can’t afford the good stuff.
I’m not big on the 60-70 dainty rock stuff. It’s just not for me.
A good, complete album, even if "Child in Time" went on for a bit too long. I would not have listened to this if this website had not suggested it to me, bit I am glad I did.
The start and middle of the album was good. But it was lost to me by the end!
What an enjoyable listen! I’ve had “CCR” on the edge of my radar for some time but this is the first full album of theirs (even if it is just an LP) that I have sat down to listen to. Great!
Exceptional. I listened to this on my morning train ride. Headphones on, eyes shut, the sunlight piercing my eyelids causing colours and shapes in my vision. Perfect!
I unexpectedly enjoyed this. Perhaps I was in the right frame of mind as I have not enjoyed 60s folk before. I seem to like my folk with a bit of rock.
It was alright… nothing special. I didn’t really like the guy’s voice to be fair.
I’ve always liked DJ Shadow’s single from this album: “Midnight In a Perfect World” but an album of just samples is a bit too much for me.
It was a bit plain?
It was just alright. Nothing special.
Really enjoying this one, it is certainly alternative and probably divisive. I recognise "My Girls" from somewhere else, not sure where... I'm glad Iistened to this and will seek out some more Animal Collective.
I think I like Bowie singles but perhaps not albums. At least not this one. “Heroes” is alright though!
Song 1 - tier 1 banger, I've heard it before in a movie, I can't remember which one, however it is so cinematic it belongs in the movies. "Here we go, I'm in for a good album" I thought to myself. Songs 2 - 11... "Damn..." It's hippy crap, I don't get it, it makes me angry, although the American hippy stuff is substantially better than the UK stuff. 2 stars as I loved "Alone Again Or", but the rest is shit.
When I was 13 or 14 I went to a small gig in the community centre back home in Welwyn Garden City. The gig was for a small rock/metal outfit which included a brother of a friend I went to school with. I remember vividly wearing a t-shirt with "it is better to have loved and lost" on the front and "than be stuck with a psycho for the rest of your life" on the back. Turns out a girl I had unceremoniously dumped a week ago spent the gig standing behind me and spent an hour reading "than be stuck with a psycho for the rest of your life" in front of her. It wasn't intentional, I just thought it was a cool shirt, or someone had got it for me or something. Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that I remember just as much of the gig with my friend's brother in it as I will of this album.
It was alright, apparently it was his 25th studio album. Do we need so many albums from one man?
I wasn’t massively blown away by this album
This should have been called “3 good songs and some other songs”.
An unexpected gem, I want to go and watch the movie now!
It was a bit boring and ironically felt like soulless mass-produced tunes.
Where’s the good?
Like a teenage dream! Not quite 5 stars as it’s not wall to wall bangers but some great tunes in there and a good vibe.
This is the first Beatles album so far and maybe I don’t get them yet… a pleasant album but expected better
I didn’t go into this expecting much but I did enjoy it.
I added 3 tracks to my favourites playlist. I would certainly listen to those again, but I wouldn’t do a full album replay which precludes this from attaining a 5 star review.
An enjoyable album but not one that I would listen to again in a hurry.
Unexpectedly good. For some reason I thought this would be metal!
It was good, a really good debut but not perfect, I suppose nothing is…
I feel whelmed by this album.
It was a bit too weird
I spent 37 minutes waiting for Randy to break into “you’ve got a friend in me”. But it didn’t happen. It was quite enjoyable otherwise but I wouldn’t listen to it again. I think Toy Story has ruined Randy for me.
Really funky, really enjoyed it. Mad lyrics too
It’s an ok album in 2024 but would have been phenomenal in 1956!
It started off well but was really self-indulgent by the guitarist and then boring by the end.
Modern life may be rubbish, but this album was a bit rubbish as well.
It was alright - in my head I thought they were going to burst into 500 Miles but then I remembered that was the proclaimers.
I don't like punk... I like the odd song but I can't dig a whole album of it!
Really good, not exception and perhaps the hype was too much. But really good. Would have been groundbreaking at its time.
A great few songs and some not so great, it was quite short which took me by surprise and it certainly is aged, but a good listen.
A bit forgettable, but maybe I was expecting Disco!
It started off strong with “Just Like Honey” and then became a bit generic. I would have gone for 2 stars but Just Like Honey pushed it over the edge to 3.
Pleasant and enjoyable. That being said, I probably won't seek it out voluntarily again.
A bit too self indulgent
I was vibing with it until the last track.
Annoying…
Great album. Opened strongly. I don’t usually go for swing but I enjoyed it
This was shit
Not as good as ‘Rumors’ but still a good listen. I enjoyed ‘Sara’.
A bit generic to be fair
Smooth as silk
I’m sure that if I was a 16 year old girl in the summer of 66 I would be swooning over Paul Revere and his Raiders. Unfortunately for Paul et al. I am a 33 year old man in 2024… not my vibe. Sorry chaps. Objectively good music, subjectively not there for me.
I hadn’t listened to this all the way through in one sitting, I wish I had before. It was exceptional and an album I will listen to again and again.
It was alright but I do feel like a lot of their songs sound similar.
Similar to REM, I enjoy the odd single but the album doesn’t do much for me.
🤮 I don’t like punk
Consistently alright but certainly nothing special.
It was ok but just ok
I don’t think I needed to listen to this before I die.
Relaxing and smooth. I really enjoyed this one.
A banging opening but it’s not my vibe
This was awful. Sensational my ass.
A great album but the solo at the end was a bit much.
I didn’t enjoy it. The music was mid and the singing was shit.
I was sort of vibing with it then she did a shit whilst on the phone to somebody and it ruined the album for me.
I’m not sure about this one. It was easy listening but I don’t think I would listen to it again.
Cracking!
It answered the question I always had: “can there be an album with too many bongos”
I was never a massive fan of Elvis, wrong generation perhaps. In any case he sounds a bit tired in this. Not his best.
It’s good but it’s not great.
It was alright but I lost interest with “On Any Other Day”. Poor lyrical choices made there.
The album should have just been the last song to be honest.
I did not expect to enjoy listening to over 2 hours of 70s country music. However it has been the best album so far in this journey!
I am biased but this is brilliant
I am biased but this is also brilliant
