I think he's great. I enjoy both the covers and his own songs. Definitely unique.
Great classic album. The three different song writers creates variety which is good.
Classic rock with organ. Ian Gillian, keyboard player and Ritchie Blackmore.
I appreciate the musician shit but this genre really doesn't do anything for me. It's Pleasant enough for background noise but that's about it.
Her songs with a band are her big songs. The songs with just a piano are mediocre.
Last album. More instruments. Less of Johhny Marr's classic picking riifs.
Great album. Neil is an awesome songwriter and the transition from acoustic to rock keeps you engaged.
Start of soul phase. 2 huge songs, a couple weak ones. Across the Universe is a bad cover.
Grear album and introduction to Rush.
I'm not sure why but I love this album! Great post-punk riffs with Mark E. Smith singing/talking over them.
Once you hear a few songs you immediately recognize others by them/him.
Definitely an influential band. Some songs are too long but probably are good live.
This is a great album of electronic or progressive house with dub influence but it's more than that. It's not as monotonous as you would expect since some songs have various singers (i.e John Lydon).
This is an album in the classic category. Well engineered, sophisticated new wave/rock. The songs are varied by the singers, tempo and style. A personal avorite.
This is Texas blues / boogie rock!
Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Left Chicago and La Grange are classics. The songs that stray are weaker though.
Shoegaze dream pop. The first and last few songs have way too much noise. The middle songs are less so and slightly more enjoyable. "nothing is" is terribly monotonous. loveless is better and innovative.
Three of the greatest female singers taking turns singing lead on various country/folk songs. Linda Ronstadt's voice stands out. Telling Me Lies is beautiful.
Some classic Christmas songs by 60s girl bands and Darlene Love produced with Phil Spector's wall of sound. The individual songs are fine but I can't listen to all of them at once.
Good album. Similar to Oasis. Richard Ashcroft writes and sings a good mix of rock songs and ballads.
British progressive pop. Great musicians led Roger Hodgson's voice and Rick Davies. I enjoy the longer more progressive songs like School and Rudy.
Great. Indie low-fi rock. Woman's perspective blunt. The guitar riffs and song structures are interesting.
Stripped down rap. Jazz samples. Clever, easy to understand lyrics. Not gangster rap. Not my usual genre but I liked it.
I found myself listening to more of the music in the samples than the BB themselves. And the rapping was similar across songs.
Good album. "Psychedelic soul". 70s feel. I think the producers (Danger Mouse and Inflo) had a larger influence than normal.
Highway to Hell is a classic rock song. Hard to listen to entire album at once though
Only interesting because it shows where they started. Mostly covers. The band is ok but Jagger couldn't sing then either.
Definiton of yacht rock. Great first album . As always great session musicians. A few big songs on here and others are good.
Big band musicianship is impressive but the blasting horns puncuating throughout each song gets old. I don't doubt this is a good album for the genre. It's just not for me.
A poet who has written some classic songs. But not a good performer. The first half with just Bob with his guitar and harmonica was painful. I guess I just don't get him.
Great first album. Zappa already had his sound. Influence of do-wop carried throughout future albums
10 songs that rock but all sound the same with the same lyrical story
Another classic album. Todd Rundgren produced it and calls it a parody of Springsteen which is a great description.
Great album. Folk punk. A few classic songs and others are solid.
It was pretty good. It had a Sergeant Peppers and early Pink Floyd vibe. Psychedelic.
Representative of the genre.
Great album and mix of songs. Pete International Airport was just sounds and should not have been put on the album.
I read one review calling them America's Radiohead....no way. The sound effects don't work. I prefer their predecessor Uncle Tupelo.
Great album. Blues and psychedelic. Jim Morrison is great but so are the other guys!
I liked this more than expected. I can see how it was influential. Think Motorhead w Eddie van halen effects talking about satan lol
Mostly Tommy. Successfully Intended to show they are a rock band. Great musicians....Moon Entwhistle, Daltry and Townsend.
Paul Simon is a great writer and musician but this is not his best album. Some of the effects make them dated in a bad way. The acoustic version of Rene and Georgette... was nice.
Nick Drake is great. Some of the songs are overly arranged. I prefer his more stripped down songs. This is not his best album.
Great album. I didn't realize there were so many big songs on this one album.
Mostly just noise and percussion. Very little melodic. I don't get it
Johnny Cash. Legend. Hurt and Personal Jesus are awesome and others are too.
Good album. It's really well produced. Hers songs with other musicians and electroncia are really good. The ones with just her are good but sound similar to each other.
I had only heard the first song which was pretty intense. The others are more accessible. His band are jazz guys playing rock. It probably requires more listens to appreciate.
Innovators of dream pop. Pleasant to listen to but too similar sounding.
I really liked this. It's Hip-hop with other types of musical influences and her voice which can have Sri Lankan accent.
Both Linda and Richard Thompson are great singers and Richard is a talented unique guitarist with Scottish influence.
To me it sounded like it was written by an amateur teenager. Silly lyrics. Simple music. Campy.
Terrible. Uninteresting gimmicky overproduced teenage girl pop.
Awesome album with 3 classic songs on it. Other songs are good too.
Solid rock album. Good band and singer. Definitely an influence on 80s American hair bands.
Classic album. Although sometimes I hear parts of one song that sound too similar to other Elton John songs.
Really good album with Shane MacGowan's instantly recognizable voice. This has exposed a lot of people to celtic music with it's typical depressing lyrics. LOL
All Johnny Cash songs sound the same but he made that style legendary. I enjoyed listening to the album and is interaction with the audience very old-timey in a good way.
Many of these songs got lots of radio play (Panama is my favorite) but I was never a big fan. They just seem juvenile to me. The playing on the synthesizers is rudimentary. Eddie Van Halen was innovative but lacks musicality and soul.
So apparently he was doing primal therapy during this time so that explains the lyrics. I knew a few songs on this album but many were knew to me. I listened a second time and enjoyed it more. I liked "I Found Out", "Working Class Hero" and "Remember".
I liiked the album. "Elaborately arranged pop", Quirky, well produced. Lots to listen too, it's not background music. I am familiar with their popular songs but will listen to more if them.
The Bo Diddley jams on the first side and first song on second side were interesting but only because I hack around with guitar. I don't understand why critics rave about it. Perhaps it's interesting if you want a sense of a live show back then.
Great funk synth pop album. Sometimes the synthesizers sound dated.
Jack White is a great song writer, lyricist and musician. The album has a variety of songs. I really enjoyed it.
Girl from Ipanema alone gets this album on the list. Great exposure to bossa nova and jazz.
Morre variety in the sampled music. And the BB were more musical themselves and not just rapping.
This was a great first album for a band. This alternative rock with a pop/synth emphasis. Good riffs from the both the keyboard and guitars. Brandon Flowers has a good theatrical voice. Reminded of Muse at times.
One of the greatest popular songwriters. Her recording of Will You Love Me Tomorrow is better than the cover by the Shirelles
New wave pioneers. All songs on this album are great. They're all underrated as musicians, especially Elliott Easton.
I've always liked this band. Unique sound with drums, guitar, saxophone and Richard Butler's voice. Songs are very similar to each other though.
The one and only Queen. It was a really good album even with most songs new to me. The songs vary in genre and 3 different singers. Some rock and remind me of Deep Purple.
Old New school rap with words I can understand. I liked the songs that were not released as singles best.
Accessible jazz. Miles Davis and John Coltrane andc other musicians are giants. Easy to listen to. Not busy.
Good album by influential artist. Soul music that is gospel influenced. Some songs are pretty funky.
So so Americana. Sounds like a drunk Sheryl Crow. Not for me. The cover of Can't Let Go by Robert Plant and Alicia Kraus is good though.
Unremarkable. He can't sing when not reggae.
It's the Cure. Robert Smiths vocals, guitar riffs, keyboard. Some songs are moodier than others.
Good album. It's better to be in a relaxed, unhurried state and listen to the album as a whole.
Pop soul covers. Guess it's representative of the genre but the songs aren't that similar or as good as Dock of the Bay which I like.
Low is a good album. It has a mix of rock and more ambient than his other music. Definitely influenced by Brian Eno.
I didn't enjoy this heavy metal band. There are some decent guitar riffs but the songs often feel disjointed and the speed metal parts are more annoying than rocking. The singer isn't great, especially when he tries Ian Gillian screams.
I know he's a legend but I can't stand his voice and the harmonica for more than one song. Covers of his songs are usually better than his originals. There are a few of his more well known songs on this album.
Good album. This is the type of music I first think of when someone says Jazz. Considered one of the first pioneering Cool Jazz albums.
Punk/power pop with ballads. Some great songs and others not so much. Just learned that Boulevard of Broken Dreams, the one sing that's different than their others, has the same chord progression as Wonderwall. 😕
Truly an album everyone should listen to. Uses new technology and the variety is incredible. Also two awesome songs by George Harrison.
Good R&B hiphop album. The singers are good and had a group of established songwriters and producers behind them.
Chill reggae from England. Fat bass, guitar and saxophone. Political messages. Somewhat receptive but good background music especially the instrumentals. They are a lot better than Red Red Wine.
His bass playing and sound is cool sound but gets old. Them Changes stands out. I prefer the songs that are more jazzy, funky, weird songs over the more R&B and pop ones.
Definitely should be on a list like this. Southern jazz blues rock. Tight band. Greg Allman has the perfect voice for this. Dickey Betts doesn't get enough credit. Some solos go on too long. Whipping Post showcases all of them.
Another good album from the Berlin trilogy. Heroes and some good rock songs. The more ambient songs in the second half seemed more out of place on the first listen.
I like Frank Sinatra and I like bossa nova but it was probably not a good idea to put the two together. It comes across as cheesy in a bad way.
