Love when an album reminds you that music is supposed to be fun.
If you can't handle me at my Iron Maiden (Run to the hills) then you don't deserve me at my Kate Bush (Running UP that hill.)
I was shocked at how many songs from this album I knew. Loved every second. Forget 5/5. This was a 10/10.
I don't even need to relisten to this to know it deserves SIX out of five stars. (But I did relisten.) (Because this is her best album.)
I've enjoyed what I heard from their album Mezzanine, and really enjoy Heligoland, had no idea they’d been in the game for so long. Fun to hear the clear foundation for a lot of electronic music today. Especially the music that leans toward that cinematic feel. Wish I could give half stars so I could give 4.5 instead of 4.
Very very fun. As the “I’m a believer” band I expected this to be more mindless pop and was so happy to see that if I’d been young when this came out it would’ve been on REPEAT. Love when an album just has a bunch of clips the band fucking around in the studio.
They would make an album that was entirely dishwasher sounds and I’d still eat that shit up. 100/10
The music itself was fine but I’m not a huge fan of this dude’s voice.
Fun! I love anything with a beat that isn't annoying or boring. Checks those boxes easily.
Fun, iconic, timeless, etc.
Gotta love anything that makes country music palatable.
For as much as I'm averse to country I fucking love relatively-contemporary folk music. Calling this genre "alternative country" is so pretentious. Just say folk you cowards.
I kept forgetting it was a live album until the audience applause would jump-scare me. Not a genre I'd listen to on my own but I'd be a dirty liar if I said I wasn't bouncing around and vibing hard to it.
I have tried so hard to like their music over the years. I don't know what I'm missing. Maybe the part of the human brain that develops an appreciation for this particular brand of 80s synth-pop never finished cooking for me. Meh
Once again, I wish we could do half stars so I could give it 3 and a half. I've liked some stuff I've heard from her, but hadn't heard anything from this album and am a smidge disappointed with it, but it was still a good vibe.
It started off strong and I thought I'd have at least a 4 star review here, but I was less of a fan of the second half of the album. Every goddamn guitar strum was a 10/10 though.
It was somehow exactly like I expected but also nothing like I expected.
I love when an album feels like it's own movie. This was a 4.5 for me but I'm giving it a 5 because whatever.
Is it an iconic album? Yes. Is it objectively good? Also yes. Do I despise the sight and sound of MJ? Again: yes. This is a generous three.
Liked it more than I thought I would. Wish I could give half stars so this could be a 3.5 instead.
I’ll never not laugh my ass off at the song Girlfriend in a Coma. I will also never be able to take Morrissey seriously no matter how many sadboy songs he sings/pens.
Love this album cover. I've heard of him but never listened until today and I'm pleasantly surprised; it sounds pretty similar to a lot of the alt-rock + pop-punk movement that took off in the late 90s/early 00s, so it's interesting to see a glimpse of the precursors of the era.
I kept forgetting it was a live album, which is enjoy, since I typically fucking despise live albums. I also typically enjoy when I can't exactly tell where one song ends and another begins, but this one was a bit...much in that regard. Meh. 2.5 rounded up for this one.
I can’t believe I’m giving a Bowie album 4 stars.
I feel wholly indifferent to it.
Yeah yeah we get it they’re good I guess
Love how solid of a listen this is. Didn’t think I was in the mood for soul music today but that just goes to prove how much I fucking know.
Do I love soul??? I think I might love soul. Or maybe I just love this album. Much to consider this week.
Genuinely disappointed that I didn't like this. Sometimes I forget that just because something is innovative, doesn't mean it's good </3
Liked the 2nd half of the album far more than the first. Maybe 3.5 overall
That sure was music. 2.5 I guess
Incredibly showstopping perfect no notes
Didn’t leave much of an impression but it was better than I thought it would be at least.
I liked it more than I thought I would, but god was I dreading this listen when I saw that the regular remastered version was over 2 hours and the deluxe was over FOUR hours. Hello?? Sir, enough.
I apparently have a soft spot for this type of punky anti-establishment music, because I usually hate the cadence of British talk-rapper music SO much (except for you Charli xcx, who is without fault) but this I didn't mind.
Really REALLY liked this. Giving it a 4.5 but clicking 5 because god forbid we have the ability to rank more accurately </3
I fucking love weird shit like this. Frank Zappa, freak that you are <3
The instant I heard what I thought was Rill Rill by Sleigh Bells playing I was in INSTANT euphoria. I will now be listening to this on repeat since now I know it helped inspire my favorite record of all time.
I was hoping I'd like this more, but this brand of jazzy soul isn't for me I guess.
Easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given
Enjoyed the first half far more than the last. Wish the production value/quality were better. Most of the latter-half songs sounds like pre-recorded cheap keyboard settings.
It was alright. I enjoy the genre but I thought this would be heavier than it ended up being.
Yeah yeah we get it Queen is the perfect band.
Can't believe she's had this crazy of a career trajectory. Was going to give this 4 stars until I remember her actually insane MAGA status. Insane because of who her father is, and also I did NOT realize this album was named after him 💀
Again: literal batshit career AND life trajectory.
Gasped audibly when Corona started since that's the goddamn Jackass intro music and those few strums sent me back decades, mentally. But besides that, meh.
Never saved a song before listening to it before I got to 'Shit, Damn, Motherfucker'. I don't even know if I liked it, but I do respect a song title that funny. Other than catchy refrains this didn't do it for me as much as I hoped.
This was THEE perfect album to listen to while walking around town, snapping pictures of the scenery. Definitely adding a few of these to my burgeoning 'Beach Music' playlist.
Really, really loved this concept. I wish it had been a little longer though.
Forgive me Buffalo Springfield I just think I'm worn out over this genre. I need this game to throw some more curveballs like Heaux Tales or that one that was just ambient noise for an hour.
I mean. It was fine. I'm just so sick of the 60s pleaseee dear godddddd please go back to the 80s. Or something more contemporary. I want more R&B or genres that aren't 60s rock. Please for the love of god @ this game
Me: give me a genre that isn't the 60s
This game: *adds 4 years and spits in my face*
I'm going to go ahead and declare that it should be against the rules to put more than one album by the same artist on this list. Queen doesn't count because Queen is good.
Edit: is this album fine? Yeah. But still, I'm sick of this dude.
This album reminded me that I don’t listen to nearly enough old school hip hop. Also had no clue this was where Flavor Flav came from. 3.5 but I’ll round up because why not?
Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to listen to a Zz top album.
Genuinely SHOCKED this album is on here. Or this band. What’s going on who made this list.
Good zone out music but I couldn’t tell you if it were good or not
Okay lowkey enjoyed this a lot.
I think Ill definitely like this more after a 2nd listen-through.
Liked it a lot more than I was expecting to. I also cannot believe it took me this long to realize where the fuck Free Bird came from. Whatever. How was I supposed to know a Lynyrd Skynyrd song was the source of that joke?
For someone who is picky about country music I thought this was pretty nice. I wish I could give it a 3.5 but oh well.
There's something about hearing that annoying Musical Theater™️ type voice overtop of an electric guitar that really does not do it for me. Sir why are we over-annunciating. Isn't this is supposed to be rock music? They earned the 3rd star only because of Smoke on the Water.
Is it mean to say this album bored the fuck out of me. I’m saying wake-up-from-a-beach-nap-to-turn-it-off levels of boring.
Now THAT's what a call a goddamn ALBUM!!! I would rather listen to solely concept albums for the rest of my life. I'm sick of this boring mixtape shit where songs sound either vaguely related or just like they were stapled together so they could sell a stupid little album. A want a goddamn THEME a STORY a VIBE!!!!!
I liked it more than I thought I would but no where near as much as John Mulaney apparently does.
This album is doing is what that Santana album THOUGHT it was doing. Sorry Carlos, the Brazilians win this round of "latin music with weird mixed production that makes my brain somehow still enjoy itself." I am once again wishing I could grant half stars so I could give this a proper 3.5
May god strike me dead for disliking jazz music so strongly...
It's so annoying to finally listen to an album you've been meaning to check out for 10 years only to realize it kind of super sucks. This would be 2 stars but it does bring a smile to my face to think about Solange beating the shit out of Jay-Z in that elevator, so she gets 3 stars for throwing hands like the true ride or die bitch she is.
They better stop putting this damn band on here. This was literally no better than the last album. The 2nd star is for There is a Light That Never Goes Out and for all the heavy lifting it did for depressed internet teens 20 years ago.
I was so nervous when I saw this was a 45 minute 4-song album but holy shit. I loved this. Shoutout to the first track for inspiring a song on Lemonade. I’d give this 4.5 if I could.
Damn. Loved this actually. Sorry U2 I was not familiar with your game.
Awwww yeaaahhhhhhhh let’s fucking gooooo
I wish I didn't detest the sound of 97% of old school rap. It's just so annoying to meeeeeeeeee. There was at least like, 2 tolerable songs though, and I simply have to respect the fact that without this type of shit walking (crawling, truly) then the Actual Good Stuff of 00s-onward wouldn't exist today. Thank you for your service Neneh, I hope I never hear your voice ever again.
Fellas is it gay to talk about getting your balls gargled with the homies? What about commiserating over how cool your dick looks? No, no it's not like you're WAITING for someone to finally ask to see it or anything no it's not that at all it's just totally normal regular Real G type shit, OBVIOUSLY.
I swear to god I know this was not written as a comedy album, but are we SURE this wasn't written with the intention of it being a comedy album? Because this shit had me laughing OUT LOUD.
1 point is for all the LBC shoutouts, 1 point is because this was much more refreshing at times than the last album was and for as embarrassing as he is, Snoop CAN rap, and that final point is because I have not laughed at something that's not made to be this funny in SO long. That was REFRESHING.
Oh thank god I've been waiting for a great album. Radiohead I owe you my life.
My favorite parts were the parts when just the instruments were doing their thang and that guy wasn’t fucking ‘singing’.
I loved the first song so much that it wasn't until the 3rd song that I realized I was being tricked into enjoying jazz. But this jazz doesn't suck, so, whatever.
I simply do not care for it
A nice pop album is always so refreshing after being forced to listen to hours of dogshit.
Yeah yeah it was fine but did it have to be so long
