The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Feb 24 2026

Off the bat impression: it fucking sucks. It’s a dissonant mess. I can get the impression of better albums that came after. I can see the influence, but this thing is a total dud. Great way to start this journey.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Feb 25 2026

Enjoy reggae as a general rule. Kind of coming to the realization that it isn’t just chill music, it’s more spiritual, and even political at times than I thought. 400 years: is a pretty good track, same story different day 50 years later :/ . Baby We’ve Got a Date: another banger. Less spiritual, or maybe more spiritual in a different form. Kind of like a Rasta version of an old 50’s love song. Kinky Reggae: this band fucks. We Don’t Need No Trouble: Kind of just exists I guess. High Tide Low Tide: Probably my personal favorite track. Felt really personal. Really sweet.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Feb 26 2026

Kind of okay. It’s not really my genre, sorry to say. Fun if I wanted to cosplay as someone sitting in a dive bar.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Mar 03 2026

It’s great! I was surprised by how clean the sound is, or how modern and varied the tracks are. It's one of the first albums I have listened to on this thing that genuinely feels like a diamond in the rough.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Mar 04 2026

Talking Heads: '77 Overall: I kind of have a bias because I already own/love all of their albums. This is protean. It has aspects of all their later works. I just love how David Byrne sings. Just a bunch of enjoyable songs. Not all of them memorable, but I never have the instinct that I should just immediately skip to the next track. Individual Tracks: Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town: Good strong song to start. Upbeat and easy to listen to. Tentative Decisions: Liked the marching snare in the background. Can definitely empathize with the feeling of being stuck in life decisions. Happy Day: Not upbeat sounding, which I guess is part of the point. Who Is It? That's it, that's like 80% of the lyrics. Probably could get the same experience with just listening to somebody playing peek-a-boo. No Compassion: Kind of like a prelude to Psycho Killer. A lot of the same undertones. Same kind of David Byrne "I am stuttering my emotions to you" energy. The Book I Read: Howling. Don't Worry About the Government: Manic clown energy. Thumping energy. Weirdly relevant with my feelings about changing what I can and letting go of the things I can't. First Week/Last Week... Carefree: Couldn't tell you a single thing about this song. Psycho Killer: Carries the entire album. Catchy and has the best aspects of what the Talking Heads would become musically and otherwise. Pulled Up: Also great! I liked it when he sang pulled up and it sounded just like somebody pulled him up mid-lyric.

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Mar 05 2026

It's just kind of whatever. Not my bag musically. Can't even be bothered to take the time to give each song a point by point review.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Mar 10 2026

This probably sounds dumb, but I've only maybe listened to one or two songs on this album prior to today. I was kind of suprised how much I like their other songs on here. I did read in one of the reviews about how there is a bit of a Beatles influence to their tracks, and I can kind of hear it too. It's not bad! I still like the Just Dance version of Mr. Blue Sky more though :P

Kind of dull. She sounds like Shirley Bassey if Shirley Bassey was also a goat.

Ten by Pearl Jam

Apr 21 2026

Part of this process was me coming to the acceptance that there is some degree of separating artist from art and broadening my horizons from my gut reaction to skip and move on. That being said this album is great. It has texture and variety and pathos. There are some genuinely great tracks on it.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division

Sad man sings into a bucket: the album!

Snivilisation by Orbital

It reminds me a little bit of the Cowboy Bebop OST.

I would hopefully be forgiven for thinking this band’s entire output was Rock Lobster and the Rocko’s Modern Life Theme.
