Popular Reviews

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground

I get it, you have to know the roots - but the first song was booooooring! The second song is way better! Why do you have to start an album with such a boring tune? The third number is strange, but not in a good way. All in all: I'm too young for this music. And I'm born in 1971.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Jun 03 2026

I get it, Stevie Wonder is a wonderful composer and musician, some songs on this record did stir my interest, but most were just not my cup of tea.

Jun 04 2026

Some classic Queen songs on that good album, including the outstanding magnus opum Bohemian Rhapsody.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jun 05 2026

Distest it already... and that was a prejudice...

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Jun 09 2026

Meh. Not too bad. But no candidate for my record collection.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Jun 10 2026

Interesting. Never heard of before.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
Jun 12 2026

Not my cup of tea. Some nice ideas, but I wouldn't have included this album into this list.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Jun 16 2026

I love the Foo Fighters!

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Jun 17 2026

Why do 20-somethings make music like that? We already have records of that era of music. Of course, this is high-power stuff, great playin and everything - but it is boring!!

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Jun 18 2026

Finally, an album I already own! Alison Goldfrapp has her own style, that's how you make music!

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Jun 19 2026

How can someone with such a soothing voice and taste for interesting lyrics become a right-wing nutcase?

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jun 23 2026

Some very nice songs, some too close to Paul Simon. That was definetely worth listening to.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Jun 24 2026

Now that's an interesting start of an album... However, the voice becomes annoying after a certain time. The song "Basement Scene" is terrible.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 25 2026

An early album from "The Boss". Never really digged his musical output... let's hear it... Okay, I guess you had to be young in 1975 to find this music relevant for your life. I was very young in 1975 so I lack a emotional connection to this album. Now, in 2026, it sounds dated. Alas: Not my cup of tea.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Jun 29 2026

I get it, you have to know the roots - but the first song was booooooring! The second song is way better! Why do you have to start an album with such a boring tune? The third number is strange, but not in a good way. All in all: I'm too young for this music. And I'm born in 1971.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jun 30 2026

The infamous Amy Winehouse. She can sing, no doubt! The musical is not my favourite, however - which is why I don't own this album. But I always recognized her as a musical talent.

The Clash by The Clash
Jul 01 2026

The roots of punk rock.

Pornography by The Cure
Jul 02 2026

Oh, I love some The Cure! But I'm not disappointed enough to find this a great record. ;-)

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jul 06 2026

An album from my teenager years - containing some hits and some more great songs!

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Jul 07 2026

After the first run-thorugh I thought "why is this album on this list"? After the second run-through I thought "I should listen to it once more". After the third run-through it really grew on me. Fab album!

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Jul 08 2026

Some interesting tunes, some gnarly sounds, some strange noises. That was worth to listen.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jul 10 2026

Come On Eileen is a world class party hit, of course. The other songs are pretty mediocre..

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Jul 13 2026

The ultimate Masterpiece of The Prodigy. Nuff said.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Jul 14 2026

Nice, retro, great voice.

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Jul 15 2026

Never heard of that band and album. Quite enjoyed it!

Blur by Blur
Jul 16 2026

Another album I already own! Blur for the win!

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jul 21 2026

Elvis - he can sing, of course. He was a star, of course. But not my cup of tea.

Jul 22 2026

What the duck? How on earth is this album included in this list? I would rate zero. Of course I know this might be a pretty great country (or is it western? ;-) ) album, but that is not my music.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Jul 23 2026

Not exactly my kind of music, but nonetheless worth a listen. Captivating at times.

Copper Blue by Sugar
Jul 24 2026

How had this album not come to my attention in 1992? That's great!

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jul 28 2026

The Beatles - the foundation of modern pop music. This early release may seem dated and pale in comparison to their later work, but anyhow, without this album we wouldn't have got what they gave to the world of music.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Jul 29 2026

I should like it, however, it didn't ring a bell with me.

Devotional Songs by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Jul 30 2026

The unbelieveable Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - what a voice! The music is not my cup of tea, however...

Doolittle by Pixies
Jul 31 2026

The legendary Pixies - with an album that I don't like.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Aug 03 2026

Okaaayyyy, this was once a great hit. But imho it did not age too well...

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Aug 04 2026

Never heard this album before. I will give it some further spins!

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Aug 05 2026

Never heard of that band nor that album. Nice one, I like!

Bad by Michael Jackson
Aug 11 2026

Finally one of the best selling albums of all time. How many did Jacko sell of this? 35 Million units? That is an acomplishment, undoubtly. It contains several hits. A top-notch production. I'm not the biggest fan of MJ and I do not own a copy of Bad but have to acknowledge the greatness of it.

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Aug 12 2026

What a lousy album! This may be punk rock from 1973 - but it's simply terrible!

A Northern Soul by The Verve
Aug 14 2026

Another album from The Verve? They are not that great imho...

The Cars by The Cars
Aug 17 2026

That one Cars hit is on this album - which as a whole is okayish.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Aug 18 2026
...And Justice For All by Metallica
Aug 19 2026

I never heard this album by the huge Metallica before - and I was shocked by the poor sound quality! Sounds like a homerecording done by some novices on poor equipment. The music? Not mine.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Aug 20 2026

Okay, he wrote some great lyrics, I give you that. But he can not sing! To me it sounds like drunk Uncle Bob doing Karaoke in a hotel bar - but without the fun. Awful!

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Aug 24 2026

One world to describe this album: Classy! Great music sung by an outstanding singer!
