1001 Albums Summary

4 stars for Personal Jesus - the album overall is not my thing, but a jam.

Some great vibes. Coincidentally a friend had just played this in response to the prompt: "Put on something you were listening to in college" and that gave me a bigger context for thinking about the vibes.

Some of it isn't my thing, but some of it hits hard. Almost went to 4 stars just for "heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack"

Really starts to jam starting with “ya gotta keep em separated” and continues to do so after that

Funky!

I really hovered between 4 and 5. The harmonies on these songs are so incredible, and the poetry is so imaginative…some of these songs are definitely 5s for me, especially the ones that are a little less laid back. Judy Blue Eyes alone almost pushed me there, but the majority of the songs on these album are not really my taste, so I stuck with 4.

Appalachian folk heaven - Joan’s voice is spooky in a way that I really enjoy.

This album kills starting at Loaded through to the end

Too much Jesus for my taste - all Jesus and faux-respectful ogling of women. Also just not sonically for me - too smooth or something.

This was very cool! Another great one for chill beats. Velvet Underground connection!

This one was an excellent find for me. Much of this is 5 stars, but it gets a bit too sappy and, again, Jesusy from time to time for me to get to 5. But I love the mournful quality of a lot of this, and the poetry is really interesting, and Nick Cave has my kind of voice.

I am not the biggest ABBA guy, but “money money money” is so important to me.

I really loved this - the vocal sound is so aggressively nineties that I couldn’t get all the way there, but the sounds are often gorgeous.

Instant classic for me.

I love Willie and somehow this is the first time I realized he came up in my part of Texas. I also didn't know people call him an "outlaw country" artist - I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I love it.
