more like Snore-bital.

Is this seriously how we're starting this album? This is the first impression you want to make, repeating "where time becomes a loop" over and over with no backing music or anything? And no the rest was not redeeming.

An interesting album with crazy auditory ideas. Just feels a bit rough and performative.

uhh yeah we KNOW im rating this shit higher than I should IMPACT (earth is burning) MONDAY HALCYON + ON + ON (fav)

Not the typa stuff I would normally listen to. But it was good

Irritatingly repetitive.

Without the intro and outro this would have been much better. That was very annoying. The rest of the album was pretty good

-1 star for having to skip the intro and outro. Felt like the only point of that was to annoy the listener... mission succesful.

First impressions, and tracks, count for a lot.

Not bad. A lot of instrumental which made it nice to listen to while studying. Not something I would have normally put on but it worked.

I dig a lot of this as like driving game music, it's nice and pleasant for the most part. The best of it gets that Neon White kind of feeling.

I only listened to the main Orbital 2 album (the first two discs), and not the four hour and ten minute expanded version with all of the live recordings, radio sessions, and mixes, so I don't know if I missed out on anything groundbreaking. What I did listen to was very mystical though. And similar to Strange Cargo II by William Orbit, it sounds like a Spyro the Dragon video game soundtrack.

Good for a rave

I don't want to be a hater but this was bollocks. And worse, boring.

This one was interesting. I love the Halcyon song so much!! But the rest was just alright. 4 stars.

didn’t love but didn’t hate. wld go back to for something different

Not on Spotify :(

If I'm listening to this for fun, no thank you. If I'm listening to this for production educational purposes, sure. It's very repetitive, the tracks are much too long, and they can easily get under the skin, but at least it's quality work. It definitely fits in a club or in a movie scene though, not as day to day listening.

Not bad but not something I see myself returning to often. 2.5

Not my thing. I've tried to give electro dance type music a fair shake many times in the past and it just doesn't do anything for me. I'll give the next one a shot though, you never know...

Very videogamey. I really like the vibes. highlights: lush 3.1/3-2 remind halcyon + on + on

It was kinda just noises

Another boring Orbital album. First track was particularly annoying.

Its not Orbital's fault that they have 2 albums on this list. But they should have zero

This was great in 1993, but I don't do drugs anymore, so an hour of electronic music overstays its welcome.

Helt ok.

Did not like at all. Just boring minimalistic and not good to listen to

Música eletrônica repetitiva e enfadonha, tornando a audição um processo interminável.

Damn it's long, I prefer the songs which are more chilled like Halycon + ON + ON, but some other decent ones littered throughout like Planet of the Shapes and Lush 3.1

OK, I get how this would be cool playing at a rave or a club or whatever. And when I put it on, I could see the appeal of the music. But it's so much of the same thing. It's fine and have nothing against it, but not a top album.

Not ambient enough to let go and vibe out but not catchy enough to be memorable

This sounded like a lot of static in my headphones. I actually checked to see if there was something wrong. Can't be a positive note for this rating. It evened out a bit but the repetitiveness of the electronica was too much for me.

Another lackluster techno orb name that isn't The Orb. How many more can there be?

It took a while for all the ethereal dust to settle into something more cohesive and propulsive but eventually got there and found some deep grooves and nice rhythms, with snippets of didgeridoo, sitar, female vocals and house piano refrains adding textural layers. It was nice to work to and better than some other recent entries for 90s electronica, but I am still waiting for recognition of the likes of Aphex Twin, Autechre, The Orb, Moby and so forth.

Fairly standard dance music type stuff. Nice vibes but very repetitive. Not a big fan of the vocals though.

A pretty chilled listen and some top stuff in places.

Ah, the Brown album, my old friend. It’s been a while, but a joyous pleasure as always.

No standouts

IMPACT (The Earth Is Burning)

Dreary dirge

I loved the follow up Snivilisation at the time. They were talked about as one of the few dance acts making albums for headphones as well as the dance floor. This sounded OK.

Pioneer album

mah. I remember them but I don't remember liking them enough to listen twice

This one was like a ceiling fan that has a slight wobble. In general, the white noise is soothing and it cools off the room. Circulates the air. But, occassioinally, the clink, clink, clink of the wobble becomes the focus. It's hard to concentrate on anything except that one sound.

the beeps, boops thumps and squelches align to be more enjoyable than they any right to be. i can't really understand why it works but it does. the biggest hurdle to most electronic music is transcending the time it was produced. this one seems to offer just enough keep my attention - and even relisten. 3.5 stars.

Quite boring 90s electro

Rave soundtrack. If this music changed your life, I'm sorry.

I really liked the album. Maybe not every track or the whole thing, but definitely enough that I'd be happy to listen to it again. 4/5

chill i guess

This is gonna sound a little odd but although this record makes me want to head out raving, it wouldn't necessarily be to go to an Orbital gig. Hadn't noticed before that Whigfield's producers had properly ripped-off the bass and drums from Halcyon. And whoever made 'Fine Day' ripped half the top line from it too 🙃. This is a good record, redolent of its time, but not necessarily worthy of the list, imo. There are 2 or 3 Orbital records I prefer.

The beats themselves were pretty good, but like pretty much all of these albums it got tedious

When Time Becomes was playing I was yelling out to get the skipping record and then I realized it's digital. It almost sounded like every song was stuck in the same vinyl groove. Gotta say it's a different album from what a few up listing to.

I ain’t got time for this.

I could listen to this most of the time

Pretty cool, not what I was expecting. I liked the first track when I realised what was happing. Their use of sampling is very cool and interesting, even if the music itself seems very repetitive, which I suppose is its purpose. Not a sit-down listen album

I don’t like EDM. I didn’t find it clever. I didn’t enjoy any of the songs.

Really good work. If you don't like electronic I guess you won't be a fan but this is some class work

With a release date in '93, it's clear Orbital 2 was ahead of its time with capitvating electronic rhythms, booming low bass and experimental synth noises. Each track holds up impressively well into the present day. It's hard to name standout tracks because of the album's overal cohesiveness, although "Halcyon + On + On" definitely comes to mind. The first and last tracks detract from the experience slightly 🪐🪐🪐🪐

A lot of the same.

Great electronic rhythms. Love how the little synth patterns build on each other. Really good album.

A really fun techno/dance record, it's repetitive enough so that you can dance to it, but there's enough going on behind the scenes that still makes it really interesting to intently listen to and dissect. Also, the opening and closing looped tracks are fire, if you dislike them you just have a skill issue.

This was actually very helpful for me trying to get work done

I'm sure this was an important early EDM album. Not sure it's going to hold up as iconic enough to last.

Spacey beats, v enjoyable

I liked walking around listening to it pretending it was the soundtrack to a sci-fi movie but beyond that it was pretty unmemorable

The perfect running playlist does not exi….

Slaps. Put it on for every occasion

Techno drum machines

1.5 Been a minute since I’ve gotten some truly useless electronic/drums and bass/rave music. At least 100 days or so. Really goes to show how fucking packed this list is with these albums. Really ridiculous. I swear in those middle couple 100 I was getting one a week. As I’ve said many times before, isolated, this isn’t horrible. There’s moments of fun, vibe-y grooves. When this is the 30th album you’ve gotten that essentially sounds exactly like this, it’s just hard to give a real shit, SORRY!!!

At first I wondered if I was listening to a pond of frogs croaking but the album evolved from there. It had an arc and when the beats got big it got better.

I felt like the whole album was constructed in such a way as to build up to an energetic and more complex middle, and then coast back down to a simple ending. I understand Orbital was especially good in the electro-dance scene with their improv. I'm going to rate this on the totality: you wouldn't really listen to a single song, it's a whole event.

Didn't get much out of this one.

Orbital is on the bands I've wanted to listen to but couldn't find time to do so before doing this list quest. It is very good and very fun, though I don't like the hard left panning on Planet of the Shapes for 2-3 minutes. Other than that, it's techno genius.

Really was a 1.5 rounded to 2, as it was fine background music while being swamped at work. However that last song is putrid, so it gets one star

421/1089 okay so we’re into repetition are we… i quite enjoy an ambient techno vibe this was a good album for me, i do feel like the repetitive vocals didn’t work for me though faves: HALCYON+ON+ON, MONDAY, REMIND, IMPACT, Lush 3.1 73/100

I thought this might be a little underwhelming thirty years later. No so much.

Intro and outro are weak, everything in between is very good 4/5

really cool concept album

5/10 – Mediocre

I’m not a big EDM listener, so please take my opinions with a grain of salt. I can see how this album would be the soundtrack to mid-90s raves. Thumpy four-on-the floor, this definitely can get the groove flowing. I don’t listen to enough techno to rate it properly inn comparison, but it’s got good beat.

One good one

My mind says 1 but my human yearning for traveling through deep space says 2.

was uber skeptical of this guy at first but since i was already in a crazed mindset this album could in fact NOT drive me there. so it was comforting knowing it is not just I who am off my rocker. remind reminds me of a workout video rave maybe now im on project runway? translation... rotation... am i in dynamics??? this album is good if you are doing something and need some hype REPETITIVE music going

Ik word nerveus, niet uitgeluisterd. Misschien later eens

Heel vreemd

Shit brown.

Not my idea of electronica

I hated the looping but beyond that really like a lot of it. Easy to get lost in it. Feel like I would’ve really liked it when working. Needed to do the 10 song version though bc I’m not singing up for 4 hours

I was on 4 for awhile but then it kinda dragged on too long. I did really like the sound and would play again
