Popular Reviews

Killing Joke by Killing Joke

oooooh Killing Joke!! TBH The only song I know from them is Millenium. Which is a bad ass song!! super diggin this album, it's like early punk and also a little bit of like joy division tones maybe? I love this. 5 stars

Palo Congo by Sabu

HA! Super diggin this. Crazy to think what Puerto Rico was like in 57. Lovin the congos and his black voice. They speak so unique. Fuckin love this vibe! 5 stars.

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys

Dude!! Now this is my type of jam!! Only 3 tracks in and it's already got a 5 star rating as far as I'm concerned.

En-Tact by The Shamen

This is awesome!! It's like the beginnings of techno in the 90s. I actually really like this so far.

oh fuck yeah dude. Never did own this album nor have I listened to it other than what they would have played on the radio. So this will be nice. Dude I actually really like this. Love the attitude and the rhyming. This album is great! 5 ✨

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Mar 09 2023

I'd never heard this album before. So far so good! I know Miles Davis is a jazz god, so glad I'm getting exposed to this! Will come back to write some more when I've heard it all. Will I still be able to write if I click save? Testing... Yep! chat soon. Very nice soothing music! 2/5 stars

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Mar 10 2023

LOVE IT! Loved the way it transported me back to the days I never lived in but know from movies.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Mar 13 2023

Awwwwe yeah, here's my jam! Love me some DM That was great!! As much as I love DM I'd never heard that album!

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Mar 14 2023

Liked it but not crazy about it. I liked the Who Shot the Sherrif cover the best

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Mar 15 2023

Amazing album! I really enjoyed it. I'd heard lot about it before and know of him of course. I see his face every time I go to A Bar Named Sue. There was a track on there where his wife June sings with him (Jackson). Now it all makes sense. Johnny / June on the bathroom doors. I didn't know that was his wife. I hearted one song called Give My Love to Rose.

xx by The xx
Mar 16 2023

Liked it! I'd only ever heard Intro by them before, so it was interesting to hear their voices both male and female

Drunk by Thundercat
Mar 21 2023

Okay this album is really weird. Silly nonsensical lyrics, okay electronic sounds, some real jazzy parts. Definitely very unique. I found it a bit amateur and lazy as far as the lyrics go, but again had some real interesting sounds that I enjoyed.

The Renaissance by Q-Tip
Mar 24 2023

Actually really dug this album! I didn't know he was the same rapper of Tribe Called Quest. This is the type of hip hop / rap I like!

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Mar 27 2023

I've always liked Leonard Cohen ever since Natural Born Killers. This album is great! I like the dark overtones, his deep voice, and the sinister of it. The only thing I don't like is how much biblical and god references there are.

If You're Feeling Sinister by Belle & Sebastian
Mar 28 2023

This album came out in 1996, you'd think I would have hear about it before but I hadn't. Honestly, it's a bit repetitive, and kinda slow. Every now and then I get a nostalgic 90s feel but. Not blown away.

american dream by LCD Soundsystem
Mar 29 2023

This was a really great album. I kept hearing Talking Heads voice all through out. The electronic music element combined with the Talking Heads sound made for a really great album!

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Mar 30 2023

ooooh I'm excited for this one! Oh man, that album was amazing!! They had lots of tracks I hadn't heard. A few that were very suprisingly jazzy. And one that was very punk. Amazing album.

Penthouse And Pavement by Heaven 17
Mar 31 2023

Never heard of these guys. I'll give it an honest listen. Being that it's 1981 might have some potential. Wait!! I just saw what their top track is. Temptation from Train Spotting. So yes I've heard them but that's the only song. Cool! Now I'm excited. Well it was alright. Nothing I would revisit again. It definitely had that feeling like it was trying to break away from the previous decades sound that was disco. I think the coke pandemic had already invaded Britain by this point.

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Apr 03 2023

Oooh some good 60s oldies. I can dig it! There's something very special with these older pioneers of rock. This album was incredible!! Absolutely loved it.. I love music that can transport me back in time, and this record definitely did that for me. This had the unmistakable sound of the 60s, every track on this record was excellent!

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Apr 04 2023

Never really listened to Prince before. I'll give it an honest listen. "Slow Love" is a pretty good song. It's the first track that I really think is good. Well I couldn't make it through the rest. It wasn't really keeping my attention. I don't know what all the fuss is about Prince. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Apr 05 2023

Never heard of this band. But I can get down with some 60s rock! \m/ Man this album has been fire!! I get some real strong Jimmy Hendrix vibes, mainly from the guitar sounds. But yeah these guys rock! They straddle the line between rock and metal imo. They're all white boys but they sound black. lol hmm they're from Michigan I guess. The last track Starship is very cool! Sinister and psychedelic. The last part kind of sounded like Willie Wonka in the boat scene.

Dog Man Star by Suede
Apr 06 2023

Don't know if I know these guys. Starts off pretty cool! 1994 was a good year for music. I have hope for this one. Hm, there's The London Suede and then just Suede. Both sound exactly the same. Apparently they are one and the same. First song was a little trippy, kinda psychedelic. Second song sounds more like something you would hear on the radio. But I like it! They're very British. I'm really digging this album. Talented musicians. Has a bit of U2 vibes and sometimes David Bowie. Wow I'm seriously blown away by this album! Especially this track, Still Life, it's orchestral, and beautiful.

The Cars by The Cars
Apr 07 2023

Yay, The Cars!! i've heard Good Times Roll, and Just What I Needed on the radio plenty of times. The voice is very unique. And I'm diggin the ol rocknroll styel. When music was not all digitized. Moving in Stereo is a good song too!

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Apr 10 2023

Let's give this a listen. Interesting name and album cover art...jazz? Yep! Only 4 tracks for a length of 53 min. Zombie, has lyrics. I love it! It has a very African sound to it that I'm enjoying.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Apr 11 2023

Awe yeah! A classic. This takes me back to the Shani days. Some good some bad memories. But I do like me some Eminem.

Strange Cargo III by William Orbit
Apr 12 2023

Loving this album!! It's very Massive Attackish. This was a great album! Loved the ambience and the eeriness.

The Score by Fugees
Apr 13 2023

Oh fuck yeah!!! I've heard this one many many times. What an amazing album!! Now THIS one takes me back to the good ol days. Killing me softly was on the radio a lot when I first moved back down here in 1995. But the whole album is really great!

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Apr 14 2023

The Rolling Stones were a huge deal. I personally never got into them. I don't dislike them. I just never really seek them out. So this will be a fun listen. It was good. Nothing mind blowing or nothing that stuck out.

The Next Day by David Bowie
Apr 17 2023

Okay lets do this. I first knew of David Bowie from Labrynth. Then from Se7en. (Heart's filthy lesson). Then Moulin Rouge (Nature Boy). Other than that I don't know too much about his music.

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Apr 18 2023

hmmmm, well okay, if I must... I'm actually really enjoying this! It's that old country sound. Like the sound of Not In Nottingham. Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, was nice. Sad. Can I Sleep in Your Arms is good too. There is some really great guitar plucking in this album!

Apr 19 2023

Some old school rap, let's go! Never heard it before but this was during my montana years, and I wanted to be a black mun, lol the time of cross colors. I would pick old school rap over new rap any day. Rap now is weird. Wow, the intro to Bring the Noize surprised me. It's metal, and the vocals are similar to Limp Biskit. It's Anthrax in the background

Screamadelica by Primal Scream
Apr 20 2023

Hmm Primal Scream aren't they techno? HAHA NOPE, they sound a bit like Rolling Stones honestly. Rock. Kinda cool. it's a 90 min album. So Primal Scream did do a song on the Trainspotting soundtrack. That song is def more techno than this album. But pretty cool so far! I'm really digging this journey to 1001 albums. A few of the tracks were not available on Spotify :/

Apr 21 2023

Hm Air, sounds familiar. I like the album art. Vocals just started. I thought it would be a female singer. It's not. I like it! Suits my mood today. Yeah really digging this actually! Cemetary Party (interesting spelling) is cool! It sounds cinematic to me. Like it could be the background for some movie scene. I love the eeriness of Dark Messages. Highschool Lover sounds like a song I've heard before but with lyrics. I liked that one. Yeah I think this one's getting 5 stars! oooh Empty House is catchy. Apparently this album was named after the movie by the same name. And the very last track Suicide Underground, seems to have excerpts from the movie? Just found out that movie was directed by Sofia Coppola, daughter of the great Francis Ford Coppola!

Traffic by Traffic
Apr 24 2023

Some more good ol 60s rock. It's nice, I like it. Probably wouldn't revisit this album. Very 60s iconic rock. What fun times those must have been. I wonder if any of this stuff is ever played on the radio. Never heard this band before.

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Apr 25 2023

I think I may have one of this guys songs saved. Very bluesy! I like it! Just turned up the volume a bit, this is some good blues!! He's got a great gravely voice (for a white boy :P) Man this was actually a really good album. I saved not 1 not 2 but 3 songs from it!! 5 stars.

Apr 26 2023

Alright, I could do some rap today. Feeling in that mood! Lets get this. Once again, an album I've never heard. Heard of them obviously. And maybe I'll recognize a song here and there. We'll see. Meh

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan
Apr 27 2023

Meh, I wasn't too impressed. I had heard one of these songs on the radio, Cars, but every song sounded a little bit like it. Kind of repetitive sounds and vocals. I was familiar with some of his more recent stuff. In fact I have one of his songs "liked" It's a TOTALLY different style than this album was. Much more sinister and dark. He was actually here a couple weeks ago with Ministry!!! I really should have gone. Oh well.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Apr 28 2023

Oh shit! Everyone obviously knows Toms Diner, but I honestly have never heard anything other than that! lol Excited to see what this will be like. hmmmm she sings like a kid sings when they just make songs up. Not a whole lot of melodic, vocals. Reminds me of Frente a little bit. Wow this album is from 1985? Didn't realize she started so early.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
May 01 2023

Hey!! Diego has a shirt of this picture. I've been actually liking old rap lately. This will be a good one. Good stuff! I'll probably be revisiting this one. A couple songs had some sexy sensual stuff! ;)

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
May 02 2023

I couldn't tell you any songs by Deep Purple, though I know that they were a pretty big deal once upon a time. Oh, HA! JK Smoke on the Water. Everyone knows that song! I'm diggin it so far. Something special about that eras rock. Dare I say it was purer than todays rock? Good stuff so far! Wow! The Drums on Flight of the Rat!! The drums have been a key highlight for me on this album. I really liked that album! 4 stars!

Black Monk Time by The Monks
May 03 2023

Some more 60's rock, alright!! German-based American rock band hm!

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
May 04 2023

Going into this blindly and the first song is one I've definitely heard. Gotta Get Up, it's the song they used in the Russian Doll show. Without You is also a popular song. What the fuck! Coconut is his too?! "She put the lime in the coconut...."

May 05 2023

By the album art looks like county, but per Wiki, he's Lo-fi, Alternative country, Alternative/Indie, Underground music, Neofolk, Gothic country, Metal. Quite the spread of genres. Pretty guitar on the first song. Slow chill beat. Nice voice. His diversity is even present within this album. The Wind and The Dove starts out with a nice Arabic riff. Rather enjoying this so far.

Horses by Patti Smith
May 08 2023

HEYYY! I used to have this album! It's been ages since I've listened to it. My favorite was Rock n roll Nigger, but of course that is no available on Spotify, found it on YouTube though. Listening to that first. I could have sworn it was on Horses but I guess it was on Easter. I guess my first time hearing her was from the NBK soundtrack! Pure gold that one!

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
May 09 2023

OH FUCK YEAH!!!! I have listened to this hundreds of time!! What interesting album art. I've always been fascinated by NIN and their artistic expressions. 5 stars on this one obviously. I love the darkness of this album. Crazy that I came to know and understand a lot of the anger and depression and darkness that comes from this album. Absolutely love it.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
May 10 2023

Hmm is this country?? I don't country much. Okay good, Google says she's "an American blues singer and guitarist." Lets give it a listen. Well it def has the 80s synth sounds here and there. Sounds country to me, but tolerable. It was nice. Probably not something I'd revisit. But I didn't hate it. 2 stars

Lazer Guided Melodies by Spiritualized
May 11 2023

I have no idea what to expect here. Never heard of it and the album are is pretty obscure. Cool though! Ghost tits! lol Well I listened to this while walking Mia. Thoughts: Ethereal, hum drone, reminded me of Tame Impala a lot, and a male version of Mazzy Star. Slow, mellow. I liked it.

Boston by Boston
May 12 2023

Boston! Okay, lets do this. I know I know some of their songs. Just couldn't name a single one right now. Oh yes! More than a Feeling. Definitely know that one. Yep that's a golden record there!! All of them are big hits.

The White Album by Beatles
May 15 2023

Heyyyyyyyy, so according to my uncle Manuel who I saw about 15-16 yrs ago, this was one of my dads favorite album. Don't think I've ever listened to it front to back though. Excited for this one! oooooh it's a 2 disc set. I didn't know that

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
May 16 2023

I do love me some Simon & Garfunkel! Haven't heard this album from start to finish but am familiar with at least one of the tracks. America. This "Voices of Old People" track is interesting. Oh Mrs. Robinson is on this album. And it says "from The Graduate soundtrack" I'm gonna have to watch that. I've seen it around a lot and heard of it a bunch.

May 18 2023

Chicago! Lets go! Didn't realize how jazzy they were! Diggin this! the first one was just instrumental. Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? I've heard this one! Wow Poem 58 is awesome! Very Hendrixy

Frank by Amy Winehouse
May 19 2023

awe :( Amy. There's something so sad about her death and hits me harder knowing addiction. She left us a lot of gold. And she was so pretty! What an amazing artist! Her style is beautiful. Old and jazzy and modern all in one. Lovin this album.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
May 23 2023

Well I know ONE song from Meatloaf lol and it's not on this album. It will be an interesting listen. I get a musical movie type vibe so far. Especially track 2 sounds like a play. Reminds me of Grease.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
May 24 2023

Another new artist for me here. Only 4 tracks. I'm thinking jazz? Maybe just a pianist. Wow, I guess he played with Miles Davis for a time. Damn he's good! That was nice. It was relaxing.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
May 25 2023

Take Five is such a great song!

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
May 26 2023

Okay. TGD Know of them and probably only one or two of their songs. Oh Friend of the Devil! HA they mention Utah in that song. The 60s and 70s were great decades for music. They had a shit ton of albums. Oh okay 13 according to ChatGPT. Second song they mention Utah. (Operator) Harmonica in this one. Reminds me a lot of Simon and Garfunkel. Truckin' I've heard this one too.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
May 29 2023

All I know of these guys is Sultans of Swing. Such an amazing solo in that. Oh! Money for Nothing just came on. I've heard this one a bunch. Never knew who it was. Oh WTF, Walk of Life is them too? The sound on those 2 songs are def 80s. So different from Sultans of Swing even though that was in 78, and this album is 85. Oh man this sax on Your Latest Trick is so 80s! Actually really enjoying Why Worry too. Nice guitar picking and sounds like some thunder. The Man's Too Strong sounds cool. Kinda country kinda blues kinda rock. Great album!

Purple Rain by Prince
May 30 2023

Well I listened to it. I liked it. Nothing terribly special. I had some notes in here earlier that got wiped away. I'll try to remember what I wrote. I think it was something along the lines of. I couldn't name a single Prince song, and that I know he was a big deal, and that this album was a big deal. I saw a video of him jammin out to guitar one time, and was really surprised how awesome it was. He can really jam! the first track had an awesome finale. The rest of the album I listened to at the gym so I wasn't totally tuned in. Purple rain was def catchy. And supposedly John was listening to that song this morning. What a quinky dink.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
May 31 2023

1997! This has promise. :) It's a bit Oasisy it was alright.

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Jun 01 2023

Fuck yeah, super stoked for this one! That was a great album. Funny how the songs are all so short. The whole album was just over 20 minutes. Loved it!

Jun 02 2023

Hm, do I know Yes. I feel like I should. Let's take a listen.... The first track is 18:41 long. Kinda interesting. It's def 70's but this song is all over the place. Seems very disorganized, and chaotic. Like they just made it up as they went. Not too impressed.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jun 05 2023

I think I'll give this a 3. I liked the sinister feel to it. Slow and dark. I'd probably only ever heard what's been on the radio by S&TB.

The Clash by The Clash
Jun 06 2023

I love this!! I love the Brit punk feel to it all.

Red Dirt Girl by Emmylou Harris
Jun 07 2023

I hope it's not country. Yep sure is. lol oh well we'll tough it out. Okay I'm kinda getting into it now. It's not terrible. lol

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jun 09 2023

Man! This album. I remember getting this through columbia records cd subscription. This and Cypress Hill. Everyone was bumping this! 1992. I was 13, 8th grade at Edna Thomas Middle school in Corvallis. lol Cross colors clothing was the shit, and Boyz in the Hood had just come out a year earlier.

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Jun 12 2023

I thought maybe this would be another country album by the cover art. It was not. It was actually quite nice. I listened while at the gym so I wasn't jotting down notes as I listened. But I enjoyed the bluesy sounds to it. And some good sax on the second to last song.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Jun 13 2023

Really excited for this one. I don't know why I never really got into Massive Attack even though I was always obsessed with Faithless and they are often referred to as similar groups/music. The first track is pretty dope so far. Vocals sound a bit like Maxi Jazz RIP. I really liked that album! There was a song that had the same bass line as one of the Faithless songs. Five Man Army was the MA song, and Dirty ol Man was the faithless song.

Jun 14 2023

hm, never heard of him before. But chances are I've heard a song from here. Well it's not as rappy as I thought it'd be. In fact it reminds me a lot of Black Eyed Peas. It's not bad, tolerable. Creeping into earning 3 stars. 😁

Time Out Of Mind by Bob Dylan
Jun 15 2023

I actually really enjoyed this. Not sure if it merrits a 4 but definitely a 3. I liked the blue overtone it had throughout the album. I didn't realize Bob Dylan had continued making music past the 80s let alone into the 90s.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jun 16 2023

Alright some more jazz! We just recently rewatched LaLa Land. It's cool how much he loved jazz in that movie. It will help me get through the last hour of work. Nice! I liked it but prolly only a 2.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jun 19 2023

Yay! I love The Smiths. Well I didn't get to this today. But I will over the weekend.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jun 20 2023

HA! I didn't know the band OR song was called Green Onions. Pretty distinct sound. Pretty sure this was on The Sandlot. Hm, that's cool they do instrumentals for well known songs. Like I Got a Woman, Twist and Shout. Stranger on the Shore is nice. Slow. Comin' Home Baby is also cool!

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 21 2023

It was okay. Not something I'd replay probably. Stevie Nicks sure does have a pretty voice though. Thought it was cool that it was my birthyear. There were some songs that were decent. 2 stars

Slayed? by Slade
Jun 22 2023

Hm...sounds like something that should be on Dazed and confused. For a band I'd never heard of I really liked their sound. Iconic 70s rock. The vocals reminded me of the intro song to Freaks and Geeks. I wonder why they aren't more well known.

Cross by Justice
Jun 23 2023

oooh looks intriguing. 2007...Is it metal? 🤞🏽 OH FUCK YEAH, the first electronic album. Sounds synth waveish. I dig it! It's very Daft Punk-y. Apparently they are also a French Duo. Dug quite a few of those songs! One I will revisit.

Odelay by Beck
Jun 26 2023

This is indeed a great album. It has lots of great songs. Devil's Haircut, The New Pollution, Jack-Ass, Where It's At. And one that wasn't on the radio called Ramshackle. Good stuff here.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jun 27 2023

Hey these guys are pretty cool! Neon Bible has a good sound. Kinda indie rock. Ocean of Noise is pretty. I like this album so far. Creeping up into a 4 star rating. The album was actually really great!

Space Ritual by Hawkwind
Jun 28 2023

Don't know if I'll make it through todays album. It's 2hrs and first track is very experimental if the rest is like that then... yeah, not gonna happen. Well it turned out to be good ol 70s rock, but a bit too busy for me. Sorry. 1.5 stars.

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans
Jun 29 2023

The Cardigans!!! I'm always down for some nostalgic 90s tunes. I don't think I've listened to this whole album. Just Lovefool. oooh cool flute at the end of that first track. I didn't know these guys were Swedish. I really love Nina Persson's voice. It's like tangerine honey. How was Lovefool such a great song!! It totally sticks out from all the other songs to this point. What a hit! Great Divide...nice lyrics. Well the whole album was only 39 min. I was good, but of all the songs Lovefool is the best. Don't think I would revisit any of the other songs. 3 stars.

Ctrl by SZA
Jun 30 2023

Hm, she's fucking hot!! I can do with some R&B today. Let's check it out! It was a decent album, a couple of tracks with naughty lyrics. Which I love. Doves in the Wind and Pretty Little Birds were the ones that grabbed my attention.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Jul 03 2023

She Don't Use Jelly is the only song I've heard from these guys. I think. Ryan Sessions loved them. It was pretty decent. I like how different it is from most music these days. Turn of the millenium.... I'd say 3 solid stars

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jul 04 2023

Wow Summertime has a beautiful guitar intro. I'm liking this album so far. Piece of My Heart!? cool, didn't know it was these guys. Turtle Blues was cool too. I like that they have more than one vocalist. Female and male. Ball and Chain is cool too! Oh WTF I just realized the singer is JANIS JOPLIN! what a blues voice she has!! I feel stupid that I hadn't recognized her voice before.

Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt
Jul 05 2023

I couldn't get into this. It sounds like he's singing out of tune, or backwards or some weird shit. Experimental and trance-like is how spotify describes it. It's just noise to me.

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
Jul 06 2023

Awe yeah runnin around robbin banks all whacked on scooby snacks! That's really the only song of theirs I could recognized, so I'm curious to see how the album holds up to that. I dig it. rap-like lyrics, slight Beastie Boys vibe. Nice blues lick on Passive/Aggressive. I like the hip-hop vibe mixed with metal guitars on this one. I keep getting Faith No More vibes too.

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Jul 07 2023

I'm actually liking this! I like that it's not gangsta rap. It's talented good rap. I think Aaron would actually like this. LOL Heart Street Directions skit was funny. R.A.G.U sounds great! Bad Mouth Kid lol. Whip You With A Strap is awesome too! Momma is good too. Solid 4 stars

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Jul 12 2023

Some jazz huh? Okay. Coltrane is one of the greats so I hear. I'm going to be thinking of Whiplash. The cymbals on this first track is cool! Cool bass line. Meh it was okay. 2 stars

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Jul 13 2023

That's pretty cool art. Interesting music. It's pretty unique. I like how the end of each song bleeds into the next like it's one continuous track. It is a bit experimental and a bit unorganized, chaotic. Zen Archer is the first track that sounds like an actual song. lol Okay I really like Medley: I'm So Proud/ Ooh Baby Baby/ La La Means I Love You/ Cool Jerk. It super pretty. I hearted it. meh, it was alright. There were a few good songs but nothing I'd revisit.

Sea Change by Beck
Jul 14 2023

I'm excited for this one. I actually kinda like his newer stuff better. Same with The Eels. This is so much different than Loser. It's slow and heart felt. I don't know I'll say 3 on this one.

Jul 17 2023

Mom had this vinyl! Let's give it a go. I'm pretty sure I've listened to it before but not sure if I listened to from beginning to end. There's a big mural downtown that mimics the cover art of this album. I like the sitar and drum on Within You Without You. I really like A Day In The Life! pretty.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Jul 18 2023

Well it's gotta be good right, it was born the same year as I was! Well it was alright. I mean he definitely has a unique voice. Hard to confuse that with anyone else. Satirical lyrics.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Jul 19 2023

hm, the album art is deceiving. It looks like 70s art. Not sure what to expect here. Metal, rock, indie? Didn't get through it all at work, maybe I'll finish it up at the gym. Their voice reminds me of Counting Crows. It was alright. I liked the nostalgia feeling. 3⭐️

oh fuck yeah dude. Never did own this album nor have I listened to it other than what they would have played on the radio. So this will be nice. Dude I actually really like this. Love the attitude and the rhyming. This album is great! 5 ✨

Reign In Blood by Slayer

Being There by Wilco
Jul 28 2023

Wilco...sounds like I've heard this name. Well I misread the date of this album. I thought it said 1966. 1996 was a golden year. Kinda digging this. It's a bit country a bit grunge.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jul 31 2023

The Beastie Boys sure are a unique sound. I dig it.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Aug 01 2023

Rip Buddy Holly. This 50s rock sure is fun. Would have been so cool to be alive during this time. There's not a single track longer than 3 minutes. This will be a quick 25 min listen. hehe. 3 stars

Smash by The Offspring

Moon Safari by Air
Aug 15 2023

It was okay. Was kind of distracted when I was listening to it so I don't have much to say.

Aug 17 2023

Cool funky jazz. Not gonna listen to all of it. Catching up from vacation.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Aug 18 2023

Funny that this was one of my missed album. Amanda sent me a white stripes song while I was out. I do like this style.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Aug 22 2023

5 stars right off the bat. Love this woman so much. I feel like I can completely relate to her in regards to the heroin addiction. And the Back to Black song is just so epic. I have tried to perfect singing that.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Aug 23 2023

I like the 80's synth in this first song. Not typically his style.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
Aug 24 2023

never followed her much after Extraordinary Machine. I don't like this album too much. It's too noisy and unmelodic meh, 2 stars

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Aug 25 2023

I think he has a song on the Garden State Soundtrack. His voice is familiar. He's a pretty talented musician. I can definitely appreciate the talent here. His voice is so smooth. Reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel. I'll give it 4 stars.

Kid A by Radiohead
Aug 28 2023

Fuck yeah!! 5 Stars.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Aug 29 2023

I really like The Way You Make Me Feel. Ever since seeing Haily Reinhart and Casey Abrams perform it. Maybe I'll add that to my karaoke list. Solid 4 stars

Aug 30 2023

It was okay, listened to it while making dinner. I do have a few of his songs saved. This one was too talky. The jazz was nice but no real singing.

Rio by Duran Duran
Aug 31 2023

Oh man this album has so many great hits! I would have loved to live through the 80s at an older age than I did. Lots of good music and culture from those times.

Parklife by Blur
Sep 04 2023

Hm. Don't know if I've heard this before! Okay I have heard Girls & Boys. And duh! Blur. I think they have a song on the Trainspotting album. 3 stars

Sep 05 2023

Awwwwe yeah some Lauryn Hill!! I fucking loved the Fugees Score album! This album is great. The outro to Lost ones is cute. Pretty guitar in To Zion. The beats in this are so cool. And the way she flows is so cool! 5 stars for this one. Damn Final Hour hits hard!

Sep 06 2023

Alright! Some good ol fashioned thrash metal! These guys were the pioneers to thrash man! Good stuff. 80s was a good decade for hard-core metal. Fucking LOVE Megadeth!

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Sep 07 2023

I'm not fond of his voice. Gabi and Jackson ruined that for me lol They were playing Ace of Spades on guitar hero on time, over and over and over. Whoa are they British!?

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Sep 08 2023

I kind of passively listened to this album today while I "worked". It's not their best stuff by any means but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I will give it 4 stars.

Sep 11 2023

Well that sucks! This album is not on Spotify. But I fucking love Maggot Brain by these guys. I'll have to look it up on YouTube. It is on there. I like the name of some of these songs. Groovallegiance, Promentalshitbackwashpychosis, ooooooh and Maggot brain is on this album too. lol Lunchmeataphobia. 5 stars. Pretty unique band!

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Sep 12 2023

Well I have enjoyed this album. It's very mellow, and chill. I like the acoustic sound, and the way they harmonize. What these guys are British too? WTF Mate. We'll say 4 stars here.

Sep 13 2023

Alright! Some talking heads! They will always remind me of American Psycho. Read the novel and it mentions them in there. I think they're also on the movie. Listening to this while talking to Kimberly, so a little distracted, because I just fucking love her. I think she may have put a love spell on me LOL But it's been good background noise. Such a unique voice and style. Hard not to recognize them.

evermore by Taylor Swift
Sep 14 2023

Okay well, I hope no one finds out I've got this playing. That's grounds to get your ass kicked! I'll give it a go. Okay first of all why not capitalize any words! That's just stupid. I do like the album cover. It reminds me of Corvallis. I can smell the autumn in that picture. Takes me back to simpler times. Okay it's not terrible. I actually like the second track Champagne Problems.

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Sep 15 2023

Some funky soul brotha stuff! Lets go! How wild would it be to have lived in the 70s during the height of the disco ages lol. Very interesting times. I guess I can say I did live 6months of the 70s lol. Pretty alright. Probably wouldn't seek it out again though. But entertaining nonetheless. 3 stars.

Fulfillingness' First Finale by Stevie Wonder
Sep 18 2023

Hm I'd never really listened to Stevie Wonder. I like the vibe. He's got a really nice smooth voice. LOL Boogie on Reggae Woman. I like that title. Electric boogie, in its infancy. I like the disco feel on You Haven't Done Nothin. The piano on They Won't Go When I Go is pretty! That was a pretty song. Sound gospelly. Was going to rate it a 3 but then I read up on him a bit. He was pretty much a child prodigy. Got signed with Motown's label Tamla at the age of 11! And had a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 at 13!

What's That Noise? by Coldcut
Sep 19 2023

This album is not on Spotify. Found it on YT though. '89 hm....dance type 80's reminds me of what I imagine Paula Abdul sounds like. Yeah very clubby. Hm this track is almost industrial. Lots of funky sounds in some of these tracks, like ringing of phones, and crickets and lots of fun with the synth. Stop this Crazy Thing is catchy. Has some brass in it. Smoke dis one, I like the old school rap sound there. Okay cool stuff but only a 2 in my book for today.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Sep 20 2023

Interesting, Milla Jovovich released her album by the same name 2 yrs earlier. Never heard of Casanova. He's got an interesting style. Reminds me of a 90's modern day Frank Sinatra. lol Lyrics are so nineties. There's a hint of sinister darkness to this. I like it. As obscure as this has been I've been enjoying it. The last track The Dogs & The Horses was actually really pretty. I liked the variety and weirdness in this. I'll give it a 4.

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Sep 21 2023

HEHE 12 songs for a total of 28 min. I do love me some Beach Boys. How cool would it have been to grow up on the coast in California? This album came out in 65 hm. I don't see any of their big hits on this one. Oh I guess Help Me Rhonda is on here. Love & Mercy was sure a good movie. I had no idea Brian Wilson went through so much shit because of his agent dude. That last track was cool. Hearing them talking and eating burgers & fries drinking shakes.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Sep 22 2023

I think this might be like the 3rd Radiohead album I've gotten. I really like this one. Nude is a great track. Weird Fishes is soooooo good!! All I Need is great too. Good album! 4 stars

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Sep 25 2023

Oh man! 5 stars. I've probably listened to this album one million two hundred and thirty three thousand two hundred and five times. It's a masterpiece of an album and a landmark of an era, not only in the history of music but in my own history as well. This album came out during my junior year of high school and marked a time in my life of clear division from before and after. I'd just moved back to Utah, living with grandma, trying to find myself in a big city. I felt alone a lot of the time, and this album would most definitely be playing on my walkman on my way to school most mornings. I identified with so many of the songs. His lyrical talent in this album is unparalleled to any of his of his albums. The words are just so beautiful and pefectly poetic. 10 stars if I could for this one. I'm so happy I finally got to see them live this year. It was an amazing show, and it was good being able to share that with my son.

Sep 26 2023

Hm, have no idea what to expect coming into this. Never heard of War. Hm first track is groovy. Def has that early 70's sound. There's some Cuban voices in the mix. That was unexpected. Between the album art and the vibe I wold have said these guys were out of New York but I would have been wrong. They're from the LBC. Ooh this second track is good too. Some good jazzy blues solos in there. Great guitar intro on track 3! Kinda diggin this ngl. 4 stars.

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Sep 27 2023

hmmmm this is dangerously too closely related to country which I don't do. But I'm committed and will give it an honest listen. Metal heads famous last words. Thank fuck it's only 32 min long. 32 min too long. Okay thank satan that's over. Need to rinse my ears out now with some Behemoth now.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Sep 28 2023

Hm, per the description they're an industrial band? Okay. That would be wonderful, but the beginning of this first track is not very industrial. When i think Industrial I think KMFDM, NIN, Ministry etc. I do love French music though so even if it's not that kind of Industrial I can still dig it. I love that I can understand some of these lyrics. Thanks Duo Lingo. Their Spotify bio says they were pioneers of Industrial Punk so I'm still holding out for something amazing. Oh snap, nearing the end of this track and it's beginning to show promise. lol. Okay this did become exactly what I wanted it to become. I gotta say this is pretty fucking great. We've all heard industrial German bands like KMFDM, and Ramstein, and you'd expect that from German. But French!? French is the love language. So to hear these dark, growly French lyrics is a new experience for me. Refreshing! Super diggin this. I hear some Nitzerebb influences in here as well as Skinny Puppy. This album quickly climbed to 5 stars!!

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Sep 29 2023

Why does this name sound so familiar? I can't think of any songs by them but I must have heard them before because it sounds so familiar. Let's check it out! I'm liking it. Giving me The Cure vibes somehow. I like the slow tempo. I'll give it 3 stars.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Oct 02 2023

alright! Some good ol oldies! I didn't finish listening to this whole album but from what I heard, it was a solid album representing some good ol classic oldies.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Oct 03 2023

Oh wow. What an iconic album. I've never heard it from start to finish so this will be a "treat". Get it? cause cake... stupid dad joke. lol looking over the tracks on this album, I only recognize You Can't Always Get What You Want by name. The choir in the beginning of You Can't Always Get What You Want reminds me of Empire of the Sun with Christian Bale, when he was just a boy. Anyways, that was the one and only track on there that I like. I enjoyed the album but still only a 3.

Buffalo Springfield Again by Buffalo Springfield
Oct 04 2023

The 60's were such an iconic time in music history. Interesting how a decade can shape an entire genre of music. Would have been a great time to be alive. Expecting to Fly is pretty. i'm actually enjoying this album more than yesterdays Rolling Stones 👀 I like how there are stark contrasts from one song to the next. Sometimes an album can seem too monotonous. This one called Good Time Boy has a distinct blues funk sound to it. The vocals is a different guy too. So it breaks up the album. I'm liking this so far though. 4 Stars.

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Oct 05 2023

Don't what to expect here... Sounds like experimental guitar. Some Senegalese singing. Hmmm... We'll see how long I can last with this one. At times it reminds me of this song from The Natural Born Killers. Taboo. Yeah couldn't hang. Sorry Baaba and Mansour

Oct 06 2023

92' electronic. okay. I know John super loves this band. I'm familiar with them but haven't ever really listened to them much. So far it's been nice background music. Track 4 just started. Ageispolis. It's the tune that Die Antwoord stole for their Ugly Boy song. Meh, it was okay. I'll give it a 3

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Oct 09 2023

Didn't get a chance to listen to this on Friday. So listening now. oooooh I like it! I this guys voice. And the style is just so soul! I love it! Had to play If You Need Me a couple times. Make that 3 times. I'm going to add that to my karaoke list. In fact I should expand my voice styles. I'll be looking into doing more mo town type songs. This was a great album!!

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Oct 10 2023

Hm never heard of these guys before. Let's see what they're all about. Dig it so far! Has almost a Joy Division sound as far as the music goes but mixed with the voices it gives it a modern day sound like Dope Lemon. Okay the second track does sound more 80s. HA! Elizabeth My Dear was to the tune of Scarborough Fair. This has been an interesting listen. I like the variety of sounds from one song to the next. This Is the One has a good intro. 4 stars

Oct 11 2023

Never really got into Elton John. I mean I like the songs I do know of his, just don't ever really actively seek him out. This first track is 11 minutes long. It's called a funeral for a friend. Sounds cool. wow, 1973! Bennie And The Jets is on this album. Nice. The song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road just came on. I love this song. I never realized it was Elton John though WTF?! lol. It was aight. I give it 3 stars.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Oct 12 2023

Today is a dark cloudy rainy day, and this album fits the vibe just right. I've heard of Bryan Adams but not Ryan Adams. Didn't know what kind of music it was. It's a little close to country but not quite. I like the acoustic guitar sound throughout. It's kinda depressing. hahaha Don't think I would ever revisit this. 2 stars.

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Oct 13 2023

Frank Zappa is the frontman of this band? I thought I recognized that stache! lol "a satirical expression of his perception of American pop culture and the nascent freak scene of Los Angeles" didn't listen to the whole thing but from what I heard. it's not my fav.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Oct 16 2023

I'm gonna have to listen to this AFTER my Release Radar, as it starts with REZZ! And maybe not actually. It's not on Spotify. I might have to find it on youtube later.

Oct 17 2023

This album was quite revolutionary. The track "Fuck tha Police" drew an FBI agent's warning letter, which aided N.W.A's notoriety, with N.W.A calling itself "the world's most dangerous group." LOL. I used to not like rap very much. I totally blame being raised in such a prominent white area with SOOO much racism. But over the last decade or so I have learned to appreciate SOME. I listened to Eminem yesterday on my bike ride. That mother fucker is hella talented!! The movie that came out in 2015 about this album gave me a lot more insight into the history of this album. In spite of all the hype around this I'm only feeling 2 stars. Okay there were a few good songs there towards the end. I got a giggle out of the last track A Bitch Iz A Bitch LOL 3 stars then.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Oct 18 2023

hmmm another Elton John... Awwwe this is the album that has Tiny Dancer. Always reminds me of Almost Famous. I know he was a huge deal, but I'm just not feeling it. I liked the first and last track. 2 stars

Oct 19 2023

Hm, never really gave these guys a fair chance. And I think i've only ever heard what they play on the radio. This first track, Time To Pretend, I never really listened to words before. I love the lyrics in this track!! Especially "I'll miss the playgrounds And the animals and digging up worms" that seems to capture the carefree childhood in a nutshell. Meh, the album was alright. 3 stars I guess. and that's being generous.

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Oct 20 2023

I like this album. The lyrics are silly and the music is chill and all different one to the other. The track that's titled the same as the album is really good. Her name is Yoshimi, she's a black belt in karate. Working for the city she has to discipline her body.. I like the dreamlike vibe this track has. In The Morning of the Magicians. "As the dawn began to break I had to surrender. The universe will have its way. Too powerful to master." this album has been like a magical trip through some fantastic world of theirs. Dream like, ethereal, and visionary. 4 stars!

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Oct 23 2023

Was gonna say I don't know any Billy Joes songs. But the first track on this album is Movin Out. Had no idea that was him. Oh yeah Just the Way You Are. Only the Good Die Young. I know this one too. Whaaaa She's Always a Woman... wow I guess I do know some Billy Joel...

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Oct 24 2023

Wow if this was not a trip down memory lane. Right to the turn of the millennium. Gotta love Linkin Park.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Oct 25 2023

1994, the year right before I moved here again from Montana. What an awkward time of my life that was. Creep was definitely still playing on the radio when I came in 95. I almost died that year. Tried killing myself by jumping out in front a car one morning on my way to school. It was still dark, but I remember it so vividly. I tried so hard to time it just right, and then was even more depressed to know that I couldn't even kill myself right. Looking back now, I'm glad I didn't succeed. I'm grateful for every day I wake up to a new sunrise. I'm grateful for every experience I've had since then. All the good the bad and the ugly. Teenagers are so stupid. lol

OK Computer by Radiohead
Oct 26 2023

What a great album this is. I'm already rating it a 5 because I've heard it many a times before. Paranoid Android is so cool. The progression of the humming part is great. Subterranean Homesick Alien is great too. whoa can't believe I spelled that word right. Subterranean. lol They're all great. Exit Music (For a Film) is amazing! Yep just as amazing as all the other times I've listened to it. 5 stars

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Oct 27 2023

WOW! 2 back to back 5 stars albums?? Can't say enough of this album. 1995 was an epic year. And of course I can't ever hear this without thinking of Amanda. Those were the golden years. So many memories come flooding back of those day when I hear this. Hard to believe it's already been 28yrs!!

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Oct 30 2023

1969 What an amazing year. Could you imagine being at Woodstock!? Never heard of these guys. LMAO! The second track is titled, "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitney" That track was actually pretty cool. They do these vocals that sound like a harmonica or kazoo. Lot of funk and soul to this album. Oh shit! Everyday People. I've definitely heard this song before. I'll give this 3 stars. Didn't hate, didn't love it.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Oct 31 2023

Sheeeeeeeeeeeit!! 5 Stars baby without a doubt! LOVE Led Zeppelin! This was the second LZ album I owned. This one was a CD Got it while I was living with Brock and Matt. Actually maybe I had it before then. The first one was when I was a kid! It was a cassette It was Led Zeppelin IV. I remember driving around Pinesdale jammin to Stairway to Heaven. Good shit man. Arturo was just a little boy, I remember getting him to sing along :) Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is such a beautiful song the guitar the lyrics. Such an incredible band. The fucking troves of treasure they left the masses, is unparalleled. Oh man at the end of You Shook Me when Robert Plant and Jimmy Page go back and forth with vocals and guitar, echoing each other. So epic!! John Bonham on Dazed and Confused. His drumming is immaculate! Fuck the blues rock marriage in their style is so fucking awesome! Its a shame this album is only 44 min long. And just like that it's over. 5 stars!!

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada
Nov 01 2023

Never heard of these guys. Hm Scottish electronic duo. Distinctive style of electronica, featuring vintage synthesisers, degraded analogue production, found sounds and samples, and hip hop-inspired rhythms. Could make for some great background music today. I wonder if I'll recognize any of these. i'm digging the dissonance of these tracks. Interesting album art too. A faceless family, in the late 60's. Could possibly be Mt. Fuji. I was wrong. The album cover is a modified version of a family photo taken at Banff Springs in Alberta, Canada. According to Sandison, "If there's sadness in the way we use memory, it's because the time you're focusing on has gone forever… It's a theme we play on a lot, that bittersweet thing where you face up to the fact that certain chapters of your life are just Polaroids now."

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Nov 02 2023

Didn't have a chance to listen yesterday. So I'll go through a few songs this morning. Sweet Emotion is on here. That always reminds me of Dazed and Confused. Oh and Walk This Way.

Greetings From L.A. by Tim Buckley
Nov 03 2023

Tim Buckley, huh? Well let's see what we've got here. Blues-y. Deceiving voice. I like it I'm tempted to give it a 4 but then I'd feel bad giving some of the past albums a 3. I feel like the 70s was a time when a lot of experimental stuff came out and was being explored. This is nothing short of that lol Especially the end of Devil Eyes. lol

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Nov 06 2023

oh fuck yeah! Some Jimmy! 5 Stars goes without saying!

Murmur by R.E.M.
Nov 07 2023

Hey, I've been practicing an REM song. Everybody Hurts. It's not a hard song. The only technical part it has is the "Don't throw your hand, oh no" part. Never heard this album before. REM was one of those bands for me that defined the grunge era. There's just a certain sound to them that reminds me of when I was coming into my awareness of music and discovering my own tastes. And to clarify, it's specifically the voice. 3 stars

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Nov 08 2023

Oh fuck yeah! I always forget about hole but they too had a very definitive style and sound I mean hell she was Kurt Cobains GF! and I can see her nipples lol. BOOOOOBS! HAHAHA The first track, Celebrity Skin I've definitely heard a ton on the radio. 4 stars

Planet Rock: The Album by Afrika Bambaataa
Nov 09 2023

This is an interesting band. Super funky and the album art is hilarious. Yo what the fuck they have a track on here called Renegades of Funk. Did Beastie Boys cover this track?? I thought that was their own original song. Well half way through that track now and I don't think it's anything like the beastie boys song. HAHAHA I'm retarded I meant Rage Against the Machine this whole time. lol Who You Funkin With. I like that title.

PJ Harvey hold one of those special places in my heart that reminds me of the peak of grunge. I love how her voice music has that sinister vibe to it. Dark and Evil. There's also some Patti Smith vibes in her style. Oh cool one of their songs features Thom Yorke. This Mess We're In. That was good. I guess I'll give it 4 stars.

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Nov 13 2023

Hm, I thought this would be like oldies type music. I think I confused him with someone else. I like this though. Short songs! 13 tracks and only 36 min long. I've really enjoyed the simple genuine rock an roll of this album! Lead guitar, bass, drums, and vocals! Just pure organic music. 4 stars

Doolittle by Pixies
Nov 14 2023

Oh fuck yeah! I didn't realize this album had so many hits. I never heard the whole thing through. I'm diggin it. I've kind of been distracted with work and paying bills and updating my budget spreadsheet so I haven't been 100% tuned in. But I've looked over to Spotify to see what the name of songs have been when something catches my attention. I recognized Wave of Mutilation, Here Comes Your Man, and Monkey Gone to Heaven so far. 5 stars

Hms Fable by Shack
Nov 15 2023

Not sure what to expect here, never heard of them. They sound like Oasis. There were several great songs here. I really enjoyed the slow acoustic melancholy vibe this album had. 4 stars.

For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
Nov 16 2023

What is this shit? A play? it's been a little funky I don't know what to really think about it. I like that it's so unique. Almoost experimenta.. I like the variety of instruments. the lyrics are definitely unique as well. Almost kind of eerie in a way. Reminds me of Mealoaf a bit. I'm not thinking this deserves more than 3 stars.

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Nov 17 2023

I could use some latino rap today. Sure. 1991, damn I was only 12. I'm really liking this album actually. I only ever listened to Black Sunday. I like it for all the spanish references and latino rappers :P Loved it. 4 stars

I love his voice, and the lyrics of loss and heart ache and love.. OH! In The Ghetto is on this album. I guess I have also heard Suspicious Minds. What a great album. Almost cried several times.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Nov 21 2023

whoa 2hrs! okay...Oh shit My Sweet Lord I know this one. Didn't know it was him. I've heard What Is Life. I always thought it was the Beatles. It was good, a little long and all too similar. Got halfway through the second disc. 3 stars.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 22 2023

Meh, I mean who doesn't like to listen to Born in the USA on Fourth of July, but the rest of the album, was too country sounding for me. Dancing in the Dark and I'm on Fire were the only 2 other songs on there that I'd heard. 2 stars.

Damaged by Black Flag
Nov 23 2023

This album was great! Love punk!

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Nov 24 2023

This was a wonderful album to have as background music. The title fits it perfectly! I could see this playing in a soundtrack to a movie with lots of rain and break up.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Nov 27 2023

I wasn't really into TBB back in the day but over the years. I've really grown to like them. This album is pretty fucking dope!

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Nov 28 2023

OMG I can't tell you how many times I've listened to Shine on You Crazy Diamond. It was basically my go to when I would feel too crazy and thinking way too much. It would help to hone me in for a while. even if just for a few minutes. There was peace. However, I don't think I've listened to the whole album. Oh, just kidding I totally have. What a masterpiece of a song though. The way it eases into it so mystically and then the progression and buildup. It's incredible!! 5 stars!!

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Nov 29 2023

I like this oldies Soul sound... Never heard of him before though. Maybe I'll recognize some of the songs. Wow according to the wiki, he was a big influence on Elvis and the Beetles! There were 6 tracks not available on Spotify but I'm going to find them on YouTube. I liked it. What a time for music. 5 stars

Nov 30 2023

The album consists of four compositions created by layering tape loops of differing lengths, and was designed to be continuously looped as a sound installation, with the intent of defusing the tense, anxious atmosphere of an airport terminal. Interesting. Could be some good background music for today then. Well it's definitely an Ambient sound. It's very peaceful and relaxing.

Tapestry by Carole King
Dec 01 2023

Tapestry has been certified 14× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in the US, and has sold an estimated 25 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. DAMN! I like the picture on the album cover. Seeing pictures of the 70s makes me think that that's the time my mom and dad were probably dating. Simpler times. When connections with people were done in analog. lol. I wonder if I'll know any of the songs on this album. Oh sure enough! So Far Away. It's too Late! Of course...You've Got a Friend...Will You Love Me Tomorrow..Marisol sings this sometimes but I think it might be a cover that she sings. You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman too? Damn! I can see why this album got so much hype.I wouldn't seek this out on my own. I can only give it a 3 though

The Bends by Radiohead
Dec 04 2023

American Gothic by David Ackles
Dec 06 2023

Hmm having a hard time getting into this. No song has been very catchy know real melodies. Voice sounds like Neil Diamond so that's nice and the lyrics are sweet. just all kinda sound the same. meh, 1.5 stars! So I'll be nice and go with 2 stars.

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Dec 07 2023

Hmm, never heard of these blokes. (I'm guessing they're Brittish) I was right. The voice sounds a bit like Violent Femmes.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Dec 08 2023

Didn't think I'd know any songs on this album. But I've definitely heard the first one many times. Band on the Run. It's weird how The Beatles each went and did their own thing. It was okay. Some good stuff in there for sure but not more than 3 stars.

Harvest by Neil Young
Dec 11 2023

Well Neil Young made it pretty clear that he didn't want be on Spotify, so it's a real bummer that I couldn't hear this. I hope the sarcasm is coming through there a bit. I'm not fond of his music.

Metallica by Metallica
Dec 12 2023

Uhhhhh 100 stars. Hands down. The thrash metal gods!!! I was still living in Montana when I first heard this album. I remember very distinctly being in the back of Justin's suv..I think it was a Blazer?? can't remember but we were going to a party somewhere in the mountains and he had this tape playing the whole way. Such a great album all the way through, every song is incredible! If I have the chance to catch these guys live before they stop performing I would pay stupid money...I think they are actually on tour right now. But the closest they come is Denver? I'll have to look it up. Anyways, like I said 100 stars if I could but 5 will have to do.

The Monkeys! Funny how there were lots of bands named after animals back then, The Monkeys, The Turtles, The Beatles, etc.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Dec 14 2023

Never heard of this album. But it was born the same year as me. She sounds like alot of the 80's female artists like Cindy Lauper and Pat Benatar. I like the synths in this first song. Reminds me of Giorgio Moroder. Actually did kinda like this album. Especially the last one. I think I'll give it 3 stars.

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Dec 19 2023

Sure I've listened to Simon and Garfunkle and even Graceland by Paul Simon. Mom used to have the cassette tape. But only to that extent on Paul Simon. I was surprised to hear a reggae beat on the first track here Mother and Child Reunion. What a fitting track, since I was thinking about mom with this artis. The acoustic guitar is nice on the second track AND it has what sound like Andean flutes! I like this so far. The words are good too. Oh I guess I'd heard Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard. I really enjoyed this album. 4 stars!

Dry by PJ Harvey

I listened but I was distracted trying to do stupid ServiceNow stuff. Nothing really caught my ear. 3 stars.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies

Lots of their songs on this album talk of seasons. Funny that Time of the Season is one of their biggest hits. That just happened to be on this album as well and it’s such a great song so just for that I’ll give this 4 stars.

I’m a Lonesome Fugitive by Merle Haggard

Dec 29 2023

This is not my type of music but I can appreciate the overall theme of black honor. Still only gonna give it 2 stars.

The Doors by The Doors
Jan 01 2024

Ah yeah. The Doors. When used try to be a hippie I would listen to these guys a lot. I’ll never forget the time we were doing acid at Adam’s and he put on the doors and The End came on. In my fucked up religious brought up brain I thought the song was me telling them goodbye. And I up and left trippin balls and went back home. I got lost driving in my truck. Pulled into a persons driveway to turn around. And they thought I was being suspicious so they called the police. I finally found my way home. I was living with Marisa at the time. And then I got a visit from the police. lol that fucking sucked!! But this album kicks ass. 5 stars!

Jan 08 2024

Oh fuck yes!! I could use some Led in my diet today!! This is the first Led Zeppelin album I had. It was a cassette tape. I remember listening to it on the boombox mom got me for my 8th grade graduation gift. I'd listen to it in the car too. I remember having Arturo sind along with me in the car to Stairway to Heaven. Fuck, When the Levee Breaks is so good. 5 stars!

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jan 09 2024

Aright!! Some RHCP! Omg this whole time I've been sayin "with the blood that's shed" on Scar Tissue, instead of "with the birds I'll share" Had the lyrics pulled up and noticed that. Lots of hits on this album. I hadn't ever heard the album all the way through I don't think. I really liked Porcelain. Road Trippin' caught my attention as well. Great album! 5 stars

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Jan 10 2024

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Jan 17 2024

Some 60s rock! alright. Very interesting name for a band and album. I like that the first 3 tracks all sound different from one another. Little Girl in the 4th Row has some Beach Boys vibes, and the second a bit of Johnny Cash. Oh shit! I'm Not Your Stepping Stone! I've heard this! Melody for an Unknown Girl is pretty too.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jan 18 2024

That's funny Autumn just mentioned these guys the other day! oh wow! It has been cited as a key influence on a number of succeeding post-punk, noise rock and alternative rock acts, including Joy Division, Killing Joke, the Cure, Big Black, Sonic Youth, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Faith No More and Massive Attack. That's crazy. Just for that it deserves 5 stars

Tommy by The Who
Jan 19 2024

hmmm not very familiar with The Who. This first track is quite interesting. I may not get to hear all of this. This album is 3 and a half hours!! Yeah I'm not digging this very much. I'm going to have to give it 2 stars.

Jan 24 2024

I could totally get into some Eminem this morning! Dido, is so cool. Stan samples the intro to her Thank You song. And Faithless used her a ton in their music. For being a guy who doesn't typically like rap, I really do like Eminem. He's so talented in my opinion. 5 stars.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jan 25 2024

I love the opening to Welcome to the Jungle. I really like this old 80 rock sound. There's something so nostalgic about it. I think I would have had a lot of fun if I were born just 10 yrs earlier 4 stars.

Technique by New Order
Jan 26 2024

I've never listened to any other album of New Order except for Substance. Which apparently is 2 yrs older than this one. I feel like I've maybe heard Round and Round. I'm really liking this album. 5 Stars. I liked the vibe of the whole album and the nostalgic feelings it brought back.

Jan 31 2024

So sad he died. :/ But not before making me a super cool mixed tape with a bunch of cool punk songs like from these guys, and black flag, circle jerks etc. Good shit. he's the one who showed me Pulp Fiction first I think. At gmas lol 4 Stars

Young Americans by David Bowie
Feb 01 2024

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Feb 02 2024

Alright! some of the pioneers of thrash metal! I kinda need this in my life today. This is my favorite part of the Wiki The album was also controversial, particularly in the United States, due to the religious references in its artwork and the title track's lyrics. Sensitive jezus freaks! Which is so funny to me because there are so many more bands and music now that is 100 times worse in that regard. This is actually quite mellow honestly lol! Well definitely diggin this album. Not too fond of the operatic type vocals but it's a signature sound to Iron Maiden. It was good, not quite a 5 though. 4 stars!

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Feb 05 2024

Oh Nick Drake. I think he's got a song on the Garden State soundtrack. Yep One of These Things First. But it's not on this album. Just recognized his voice. I don't know not really my bag. I'm giving it a 3.

Night Life by Ray Price
Feb 07 2024

hmm not sure what to expect here..but the picture looks like homie's getting a blow job lol Never heard this guy before. But kinda diggin it. Reminds me of a better time, a simpler time. A time when people had modesty and manners. Even though it's twangy like country, it's old enough to where I wouldn't really call it country. Reminds me of Elvis. Honky Tonk is the right word. 3 stars.

Document by R.E.M.
Feb 08 2024

Oh shit, both It's The End of the World As We Know It, and The One I Love are on this album!

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Feb 09 2024

Hmm this is pretty cool! I like the upbeat vibe, and how the 70s feel is still there, and noticeable. Like Brazilian Disco. lol it's interesting how such happy people can come from a country so poor and in distress.

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Feb 12 2024

Didn't get a chance to hear this on Friday, so I'll listen now. It's only 34 min. Pretty cool that he would go to prisons to play. Walk the Line is on this! Giving prisoners some cheer in there. What a G. LOL all the prisoners booing the guards.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Feb 13 2024

T-Rex.. why do I feel like I should know this artist? I like it. Sounds kinda like oldies and rock mashed together. Hm, the most popular song on spotify by him is Bang a Gong, which is also on this album. So we'll see if I recognize it. I did not recognize it. BUT now I know why he sounded familiar! Quentin Tarantino used the song Jeepster in Death Proof!! Thanx Quentin. Oh! Get it on! I know that one too. meh, 3 stars.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Feb 14 2024

The first time I heard these guys was on The Crow soundtrack. Snakedriver. But other than that I don't think I've heard anything else from them. I'm enjoying it. It's got good energy. I'm leaning towards 4 stars here. Yeah this was a good album!

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
Feb 15 2024

I don't know what to expect here with these guys. 1 minute into the first track and I don't even know what genre this is. Interesting. So far all lyricless. It's made for some good background noise. it's a little different but I like different. Hm, Portishead Remix on Planet D. I had to watch/listen to Wilmot on youtube. That's definetely the one with the most substance. I'll listen some more at the gym. But I'm giving this one 3.

Ramones by Ramones
Feb 16 2024

Ah the Ramones. Good stuff here. Pioneers in the punk era. So influential to so many others that came after them. Funny to think that these guys were considered controversial, they seem so mellow and innocent compared to what there is now in terms of controversial. I did finish the album. Good stuff. I'm torn between 4 and 5...

Feb 19 2024

Well this album is pretty fucking dope. I really like muse. And especially this album. Was telling Kimberly..."I'll never forget the first time I heard Knights of Cydonia on the radio for the first time. My friend had bought a house and we were redoing the tiles on the floor, I was on my hands and knees with a tile remover and it came on. I instantly loved it. " Just takes me back to those times. I think I had burned a copy of this for Alicia too. I'm giving it 5 stars.

In Utero by Nirvana
Feb 20 2024

All in all the album is great, but not as good as Nevermind or Unplugged. Tourettes was a good one.

1989 by Taylor Swift
Feb 21 2024

Oh boy.... I don't know if I can do this album. I'll give it a try but not promising anything. Especially after the whole Super Bowl news. Okay, this first track is kinda catchy. Yeah sorry can't do this. 1 star. Gonna put on some real 80s music.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Feb 22 2024

Block Rockin Beats is good, and Where do I begin, I mean a lot of them are good. I like this mainly because of the times it reminds me of in the mid to late 90s. Those were very special times for me in my life. I'll give it a 4 for those reasons. The songs aren't particularly stellar.

Gris Gris by Dr. John
Feb 23 2024

Dr. John huh? Never heard of this. It's funny there's a Dr. John's lingerie and sex toy store. Says it is a hybrid of New Orleans R&B and psychedelia. Oh 1968, looked kinda 90s for a minute. Well at least it's only 33 min. meh, it wasn't horrid but...2 stars

Van Halen by Van Halen
Feb 26 2024

Oh man, Eruption is so good! I remember hearing it first on Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure. And the intro to Aint Talkin 'Bout Love I heard first on a 2 Live Crew song. Lots of bangers on this album! That was entertaining for sure! 5 Stars

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Feb 27 2024

The singers voice is really pretty. I am enjoying this a bunch. I don't mind some disco here and there. That's one of the things I like most about music. Is how it can capture the essence of a time you know. SHIT that reminds me of my dream last night. I was in this OLD VW bug and bus, and was telling Joe how cool it is to be in an old car like that and only play music from its time lol. There was a lot more to the dream but that's the part that was relevant for this. The remixes at the end were great too. 4 stars.

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Feb 28 2024

The name sounds real familiar...I just read the wiki thing on it. Relax is probably the one I've heard most if it's the one I'm thinking. Yeah it's definitely the same band. They finally started singing. Reminds me slightly of Oingo Boingo. That second track was 13min! I like how it has kind of a dark goth feel to it. Relax is on now. I'm really enjoying this Album Generator thing. I've been exposed to sooooo many bands and so much music I never would have otherwise played. The Ballad of 32 is cool. Just instrumental but vey Floyd like. I like that the singer was openly gay in a time when it wasn't completely supported yet. There's a overall sexual tone to the whole album. I guess 4 stars on this one.

White Light by Gene Clark
Feb 29 2024

Hm, sounds countryish. Yeah sorry, can't get into this. 1 star.

Mar 01 2024

Hm some R&B Jazz. I can dig this. It was nice relazing music in the background. Smooth and romantic. 3 stars.

Mar 04 2024

The Pogues, had it not been for homie who died last year, I would not have know these guys. The christmas song he did about new york was cool. And since it is now March, fitting band to kick off the month. Oh and that song is on this album! I like the sound of the flute in this. Apparently it's called a tin whistle. But yeah the tin whistle and banjo unmistakable sound of Irish music. Metropolis is cool! with the brass in there. I was suprised how diverse the songs were in this album. I rather enjoyed it. It was very upbeat and happy. 4 stars.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Mar 05 2024

well this is the first album that's after 2000 that I've had for a while. I've definitely heard these guys' name before, but could not name a single song right off the top of my head...I like this sound. Reminds me of something that would have been on Scott Pilgrim. Honestly I very much liked the griminess to this album, feel guilty not having rated others as highly but this was a great album start to finish. 5 stars.

No Other by Gene Clark
Mar 06 2024

The acoustic sounds are very nice. The lyrics are cool too. Meh.. I don’t know what it is about “song writers” that I don’t like. And what kind of a genre is that anyway? 2 stars.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Mar 07 2024

Meh, I didn't really listen to the whole thing. Hommie has some good flute skills for sure, no doubt about that. It's cool to hear someone jam out on the flute like he does. It was alright. Nothin I would put on of my own will again. The first track is the only one I can remember hearing before. I know some people really like him. It def has that 70 rock sound to it though so there's that..3 stars.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Mar 08 2024

The King of the desert blues singers huh? Should be pretty cool. meh, lost interest pretty quickly. Sorry hommie. 2 stars.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Mar 13 2024

Well this was a treat, it was great to switch up the vibe with these oldies. I loved it. It was hard NOT to hear sounds from some of their other more popular songs, like My Girl, Aint no Mountain High enough etc. 5 stars

Mar 14 2024

Arrested Development...what am I getting into here. Well I guess you can't judge an album by it's cover I thought it was going to be traditional African music. But no it's like funky hip hop music. OH! I had heard Mr. Wendal before. Oh shit, I remember hearing Tennesse! Gonna give this one a 3

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Mar 15 2024

oh! something modern. Mr. Brightside is on this! This song hits the feels for me. When Wendy worked here, she and I got super close. Like really close. She is drop dead gorgeous. I was so extremely flattered that she would ever even give me the chance. I tell my wife all the time I could have had a chance with her. Marisol and I were going through some serious turbulence. Anyways long story short. Because of my situation, married with children, I missed my opportunity to Ryan. He came along and stole her away from me, got married and the rest is history. So that song is almost a perfect narration of that situation between the 3 of us at the park city cabin during that christmas party. Wow this album came out in 2004?? It's as old as Gabi! I remember Somebody Told Me playing at Tire Factory all the time. All The Things That I've Done is also on this!? Wow. lots of hits on this one. I never really listened to these guys by choice, only what ever was played on the radio. But they're pretty good! I'm enjoying this album and the memories it's brought. Giving this 5 stars. Everything Will Be Alright, is really good. Has some strong The Shins vibes.

Mar 18 2024

hmmm 2 hrs of this? We'll see how long I last. There some decent songs on there. But I'm only giving it a 3. The whole second disk is a little funky .

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Mar 19 2024

This sounds cool. I like the bongos, and the Cuban sound to it. oooh this is definitely hitting my roots nerve. Not that I'm from Cuba but just that nice latin sound. Oh wow! I'm definitely going to have to keep this in my arsenal for cooking music. I can't believe I never heard of this before. Came out the year I graduated from HS. 5 stars for sure!! Love it!

Youth And Young Manhood by Kings of Leon
Mar 20 2024

I've only ever heard what has been on the radio from these guys. This album is so different from what I've heard. Pretty good stuff.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 21 2024

It blows my mind how young Jimmy was. He was 27 when he died. Which means all his music was done in his early mid 20s. He just sounds so much older and experienced. I don't think I've ever listened to a Jimmy Hendrix album. Just his more popular songs. WTF I just learned that Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison also died at the age of 27! and both Jimmy and Janis died in 1970, Jim in 1971, and all their names start with a J? crazy! oooh Little Wing has an awesome intro. 4 stars

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Mar 22 2024

This was an interesting album. I wasn't terribly impressed with it. But I didn't hate it. I liked the wide range of styles and sounds. But nothing was really catchy. There were a couple that sounded dark and industrially but they were mediocre. 3 stars.

Mar 25 2024

I don't think I could do this album today lol I'm just not a fan of Bob Dylan man, can't get over the VOICE!!! Sorry Bob. 2 stars.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Mar 26 2024

awwww I love this first song! The Girl from Ipanema. Oh man I really like the Bossa Nova sound. 5 Stars.

Mar 27 2024

I think this is the first 2Pac album I get. Super diggin this album! 1995. I was just transitioning to Utah from Montana when this came out. I was tainted by all the racism in Montana, so I feel like I was always ridiculed for liking rap and therefore didn't really hear as much as I would have otherwise. But I do like this so far. I really like the Jamaican Patois in Heavy in the Game. He's got a pretty unique flow and sound. Ah man, Dear Mama is so good. 5 stars

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Mar 29 2024

Oh fuck yeah! What a great album! I love the sadness of the album. It's a perfect soundtrack to a rainy day. Just like today happens to be. I love it front it to back. I've listened to this multiple times. 5 Stars!

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Apr 02 2024

Oh Nick Drake... pretty sure this guy has a song or 2 on The Garden State soundtrack. Which coincidentally enough we listened to yesterday. Yep, One Of These Things First. And that is on this album. Crazy that this album is from 1970. I thought all the songs on that soundtrack were modern. It was okay. I am not feeling that good today and the slow mellow vibe was nice. But still only 2 stars.

Devil Without A Cause by Kid Rock
Apr 03 2024

Awwwwe yeah. Some Kid Rock. Let's go!! good shit. I love the unique rock rap here. Good catchy lyrics and bass lines. hehe Welcome 2 the Party reminds me of 2 live crew, the lyrics as well as the sound/style. OH yeah!! Only God Knows Why is a good slow jam. Loved it! Honestly that may have been the first time I heard the whole thing front to back. 5 stars

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Apr 04 2024

Hm Van Morrison...do I even know any of his songs? Guess we'll see. Why do I think this is the singer from the doors. Oh haha Jim Morrison. Oh yeah Brown Eyed Girls, of course! But it's not on this album it looks like. Meh, it was alright. Nothing that stood out to me much. It was a bit monotonous, I don't know what it is about "song writers" that I just can't get into. oh well. 2 stars.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 05 2024

Neh it was alright. 3 stars.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Apr 10 2024

I'd never heard of these guys before but I gotta say I really enjoyed this album. I honestly expected it to be dub like raggae dub. But then seeing the year 1978 I thought that was too early for dub. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was almost like experimental punk or something. Lots of Talking Heads vibes but what I liked most about it was the sinister vibe through out. I'll give this one 4 stars. Listening to this a second time actually lol only cause I was kind of distracted the first time through

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Apr 11 2024

Not sure what to expect here, let's give it a whirl. Wiki says they're a canadian indie rock band...they kind of remind me of The Shins. It was good. 3 stars

Never heard of Thin Lizzy. Unfortunately only a few songs from this album were available but I wasn't too fond of what I heard. Maybe an unfair rating but. 2 stars.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Apr 17 2024

I never really gave David Bowie a chance. Outside of Labyrinth. lol Well so far, I've recognized, Changes, and Life and Mars? It was a pretty decent album. But only 3 stars from me.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Apr 18 2024

Hmmmm, jazz? Never heard of this guy let's see what the Wiki says before I even start listening. Singer-songwritter...Don't have much hope for this one. Luckily it's only 38 min. Yeah this album sucks lol I rarely give 1 star but this one is getting it. :/ I need some Ministry to cleanse my ears after that! lol

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Apr 19 2024

I think I may have had one of these guys' albums before. Nope. I guess not. Funny, one of the last songs on the David Bowie album, was Andy Warhol. I'm enjoying this album! I feel like I'm listening to different artists with each song. This one called Venus in Furs has a definite 60s sound but it reminds me of The Doors. Heroin reminded me of Bob Dylan for some reason. I really liked this album. Especially I'll Be Your Mirror. I sent it to Kimberly. 4 stars wish we could de half stars. It would have been 4.5.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Apr 22 2024

Listened to this on the way to Henderson, in the U-Haul. I loved it!

Apr 25 2024

Hey Maxi Jazz sung about her! I'll have to finish listening tomorrow. Very 80s that's for sure. Reminds me of Whitney Houston or something. There's only 4 tracks on this album that I can listen to on Spotify. It was alright. I'll give it a 3

Parachutes by Coldplay
Apr 26 2024

Now we talking! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coldpay! Don't know if I've given this album an honest listen all the way through though. Oh shit, the first song is the one from Garden State. Don't Panic. What a great soundtrack that is. 5 stars.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Apr 29 2024

hmmm if you asked me to name a Steely Dan song I could not for the life of me. But I totally know this first song Do It Again. Interesting album cover art. Seems ahead of its time. Totally have heard Dirty Work too. Reelin' In The Years of course I've heard that. So that's 3 already so far. Overall it was a good album. 3.5...I'll give it a 4

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure

Do I know Nightmares on Wax? The name sounds familiar. It was nice, mainly instrumental with a dub kind of sound.

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 06 2024

Another David Bowie album....I think this is the 3rd one. Oh this one is way newer. 2016. I like the sinister feel to the first track. That sinister vibe persists through out! Black Star is getting 3 stars.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
May 10 2024

Funny how you can tell right away what decade music is from. This is very 60s. I don't think I've ever heard Iron Butterfly. Interesting so far. Nothing earth shattering. But I do like the sound. OH! the song by the same name of the album.In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida I've heard before.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan

Just acapello. This will be interesting. Heroes and Villains is on this album a song featured on Fantastic Mr. Fox. Recognized it right away. There were definitely some very interesting songs on this album. I'm not sure if I liked it very much. I'll give it a 3.

Chelsea Girl by Nico
May 16 2024

Nico...her voice sounds familiar. The second track had 104 Million plays! I'll probably recognize that one. Nope I don't recognize it. MEh....I guess 2 stars

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
May 17 2024

HEY!! The Pet Shop Boys. Boy if just the name doesn't take me back to the early days of my life in Montana. I remember JoElllen's older boys were into Euro synthpop. Of course I never knew it was called that back in the day. I don't think I ever owned an album of theirs. Let's check this out. I guess you could say that that's when my love for dance/edm music was born. Between them and Saint Etienne. Wow this was from 1990! So this came out when I was in Montana already. I'm liking it so far! Something about their voice and the synth sounds that is just so neat. I like the overall vibe of this. Not too pop-y, and has a nice swaying mellowness to it. A bit sultry I guess is the word. 4 stars.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
May 20 2024

LOL! I'll give it my best shot but not sure if I'll hang the whole time. Okay I can't finish it. lol

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
May 31 2024

I think I've heard the name Peter Tosh before, but I wouldn't have been able to tell you that he sang ragae, nor could I have told you any songs he sang, let alone listen to any of his albums. I am pleasantly surprised by this album. There's a bit of a guitar solo in No Sympathy that is very catchy. I like the vibe for sure. Hitting the spot today. 4 Stars!!

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Jun 05 2024

I would not have been able to tell you any of the songs from these guys, but I have recognized, How Can I Be Sure, Groovin, and I don't Love You Anymore. I like the sound of the voice. Reminds me of some of those black bands like Delphonics. The whole album has had that sound. You Better Run is good too! A little angry and harder rock sound. Wouldn't have thought this would have gotten more than a 3 but this is a solid 4!

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Jun 06 2024

Hey!!! I never thought I'd see St. Etienne on here! This is a treat! First album I had of these guys was Tiger Bay 1994. Pretty sure I got it at Rockin Rudy's or from Columbia House. I don't think I've listened to this whole album. But I have heard at least one song from it. Man her voice is so pretty. I've really liked this so far. It's light and airy. St. Etienne holds a special place in my heart so 5 stars

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Jun 11 2024

oh man, this album...well maybe not the whole album but that first song is incredible!! I say maybe not the whole album because I haven't listened to the whole thing before. I don't even remember how or where it was that I heard the Maggot Brain track but it is so awesome!! I'm excited to hear this today. It's a 10 min track with an interesting intro. The lyrics are so strange. Well there are only 7 tracks out of 10 on that album available on Spotify. The rest were okay. Nothin like that first one. So I'll give it 3 stars.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Jun 12 2024

Awwwwwe my mom had this cassette! I remember listening to it when we lived in the trailer. So just for that it gets 5 stars. :) Loved it!

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Jun 14 2024

Hm never heard of this guy. Hmmm I'm not liking this at all. it has zero melody, sounds like a person just randomly making sounds when they're trying to make up a song on the fly. 1 star.

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Jun 26 2024

Never heard of these guys. Don't even know what to expect here. Didn't get around to listening to this today. Just hearing the first song now. I'll have to finish it tomorrow. This first song called Birdland is pretty cool. It's the track with the most listens. 18.4 million as of today. So I guess the rest will be less than? lol. So far it's pretty cool though. The song seems to tell a story. It's cinematic. Like it could be the soundtrack to a scene in a movie. It's jazzy, reminds me of new york. Kind of interesting to have a synth playing along with all the other traditional jazz instruments. I'll finish listening tomorrow.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Jun 27 2024

Love these guys! How come they sound so familiar? I guess it kind of reminded me of a song on The Crow but it's not. I like the sound of this. Better than yesterday's jazz. Most of their top songs are from this album. HM! these guys are Scottish!

Bossanova by Pixies
Jun 28 2024

Another Pixies album! Just had one 4 days ago. This first track was dope!! Cecilia Ann. It's a shame I have not heard more of these guys. So it's been nice to be introduced to their albums lately. I like this sound. You know I never really listened to The Pixies a whole lot, and only ever really knew Where Is My Mind? thanks to Fight Club. But just in the last week I've had 2 of their albums for the album of the day thing. I think I have a new found appreciation for them. They're pretty awesome. IMO. 4 stars.

Meat Puppets. Funny how I never knew that Lake of Fire by Nirvana was first by these guys. This album is from 1984, but it sounds more like the 90s. I guess I can hear the punk sound in this first track a bit. I've never heard any of their music, let alone listened to one of their albums front to back. This will be fun. Diggin it man! Plateau sounded a lot like Lake of Fire. Ooooh Teenager(s). I like that one! great intro.

Fragile by Yes
Jul 15 2024

I know I know a Yes song. Can't quite put my finger on it though. Ooooh this first track might be it. The classical guitar intro is beautiful! Just turned funky. hmmm if that first track was their biggest hit on the album, it's all down hill from here lol. I mean it's okay.. but not crazy about it. Yeah this is crazy music. We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention
Jul 19 2024

The Mothers of Inventions huh? Never heard if these guys. 1968 I see Frank Zappa there and heard his name quite a bit in that first track. I don't really like zappa. There are some funny lyrics in here though. I rarely give 1 stars but I just can't with this. I'll listen to What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body? cause that has almost 4 million plays then I'm out. 1 star.

Jul 22 2024

ooooh I remember this album cover from Vanilla Sky. I really hate his voice. 2 stars only cause I knew a couple of these because Peter Paul and Mary redid them better 2 stars

Back In Black by AC/DC
Jul 23 2024

Well its AC/DC, how could I give it less than 5 stars. However there were a couple thing that I learned while listening to this album that I had not known before about AC/DC. 1. Did not know that Malcom and Angus were brothers OR that they were Scotish. 2 That the band is an Australian band. 3, that a former band member had died prior to this album and that the all black cover is a "sign of mourning" for Scott. Great album. Almost every single track on this is a hit! 5 stars.

Oh the Clash!! Yay! Love this shit! This was born the same year I was! I've definitely heard the first track on this many times. We'll see how many more I recognize.

Aug 08 2024

Hmmmm not sure if I'll make it through this one. A bit too country for me.Yeah nope. 2 stars. I really wanted to give it 1 star but that would just be mean.

Garbage by Garbage
Aug 09 2024

YAY!!!! OMG this album has so many fucking memories tied to it. Incense, glow in the dark stars, getting high, summer, Amanda, just moving here, riding the uta bus to work and back, somehow Einstein Bagels. lol Good solid album here! 10 million stars.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Aug 12 2024

Okay this kind of Country I can tolerate, mainy just because how good of a person Dolly is. Key word being tolerate. The biblical references are cringe. The whole album is only 27 min. I can do that. lol There's a couple songs on here that I like. I like the old sound, and her voice.

Be by Common
Aug 13 2024

Don't know what to expect here, but I like the bass intro on the first track. If I had to guess I'd say jazz, but the Parent Advisory warning, tell me otherwise. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We'll see. Hm I like it. It's rap but not the shitty kind. 3 Stars

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Aug 15 2024

Ah man I lost the text I had in here before but basically I was not sure what to expect. Turns out these guys pioneered the whole industrial music genre. I like the uneasy feeling it evoked, almost sinister. I need to find a better way to describe that. I liked the german.

Dust by Screaming Trees
Aug 16 2024

Oh Screaming Trees! I know I know some of their music. But I can't remember right now which ones for the life of me lol. So yeah I have not listened to an entire album before.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Aug 20 2024

I love this oldies sound. Oh! You Doin't Own Me is on this album. I like that one, man that was a whole other time the 60s. These songs are happy and all about love. So many hits on this album. Will you Love Me Tomorrow, Wishin and Hopin, I think I'll give this one 5 stars

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Aug 21 2024

The Modern Lovers huh? Never heard of them. Reminds me of The Doors. It was okay it definitely had that 60s sounds but mixed in with some newer sounding sounds. I'll give it 3 stars

Skylarking by XTC
Aug 22 2024

HM! XTC...never heard of this or at least I don't think so...I don't really understand concept albums. I don't think I ever really even knew about the term until I started doing this. Or maybe when John told me about that Frank Zappa album. Trying to think who this reminds of. Kind of has some Police vibes? no not The Police..Talking Heads? It'll come to me. Duran Duran! That's who he sounds like! I don't know I didn't hate it but it's not AMAZING. 3 stars. The Man Who Sailed His Soul caught my ear. It's got a cool Jazzy tune to it. I would probably replay this track again sometime. OH! So they saved the best for last. Dear God. I have heard this before!

Country Life by Roxy Music
Aug 23 2024

Uhhhhhh I LOVE the album cover obviously! Sexy AF lol. Never heard of these guys. By the name of the album I thought it was going to be country. And by the album cover I thought it was going to be chicks singing. But nope was wrong on both counts. It's rock and sounds decent. didn't get through the album.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Aug 26 2024

Didn't get a chance to hear this on Friday so listening now. I like the intro on this first track. It's definitely a catchy tune. The guitar in a few of these songs remind me of the Misfits intro song. Catchy little tune on Auf Achse.

Illmatic by Nas
Aug 27 2024

I didn't listen to this yesterday but I've heard it before. I will listen now.

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 28 2024

Yeah I can't with this. Sorry Nick. 2 Stars.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Aug 29 2024

I don't know why but I never liked Bitter Sweet Symphony. That was the first track and I just skipped it. And other than that song I don't know if I know any other songs from these guys. The second song mentioned the lord a bunch so fuck that one. This third one sounds like Oasis. The album art is so 90s lol with his bucket hat. meh 3 stars.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Aug 30 2024

oooh some Jazz!! I'm jazzed about this. So far so good. I enjoy me some good jazz! It was pretty good. 4 stars

With The Beatles by Beatles
Sep 02 2024

Awwe the Beatles were one of my mom's favorites. They sure were incredible musicians, and dominated the music scene for decades!! Kind of magic honestly. I've probably heard a lot of these songs. The whole album is only 33 min. 14 tracks. I really like the album art/photo. I like the spanish sounding guitar in Til There Was You. You Really Got A Hold On Me...love it! This album is 5 Stars hands down.

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Sep 03 2024

I don't know there's a couple good songs on here. And I do like that rocknroll sound. Kinda sounds like what I would expect to hear in biker bars or something. But I don't think I can give it more than 3 stars.

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Sep 06 2024

ugh, I immediately cringed when I saw todays album. I'm just not a fan! I'll give it a try though. I don't understand the big hype around this guy. There's some alright guitar on Willie The Pimp. And the lyrics say "pussy" so that's cool lol "You're tryna buy some pussy with a third party check" kinda bold for '69 heheh 69. That one is a 9:23 min song! and there's another one on this album that's nearly 13. Son of Mr. Green Genes is all instrumental and pretty jazzy. A pretty specific title for a song without lyrics. Little umbrellas is also instrumental and even more jazzier. I like this one. Turns out the rest of this is jazz. Which I can deal with. Glad I gave it a chance. 3 stars instead of 2 on this one.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Sep 09 2024

Never really gave Stevie Wonder a chance. I know who he is but I couldn't tell you a single song of his. Oh Superstition is one of his! I've heard that one for sure. I gave this an honest listen. It was alright. Didn't hate it didn't love it. 3 stars.

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Sep 10 2024
Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Sep 11 2024

Dookie by Green Day
Sep 12 2024

No shit!!? hell yeah. Oh man this takes me back to my last year in Montana. It's been a long time since I've listened to this front to back. HA! I just remembered that Derek West had this in his VW when he came to visit Laura. He had this and U2, They Might Be Giants..I can't remember what else. I wanna say REM? I can't believe this album is already 30 yrs old! WTF? I'm old. I really like Pulling Teeth. I'm glad that didn't get as much attention as some of the other songs like Basket Case and When I Come Around over playing songs on the radio ruins it for me. She is also awesome! This is one of those albums I wish I could rate a 10.

Fear and Whiskey by Mekons
Sep 13 2024

I have never heard of Mekons. But Fear and Whiskey is a cool name for an album. Brittish? yep! This gives me hope "It is universally viewed as their masterpiece by fans" but then "Alternative Country"? hm, I'll give it a chance. Well I didn't hate it. I loved the Irish sound to it. Like Irish drinking songs. Even though I know they're English. I'll give it a 3. I kind of wish the rating system was 1-10 instead. I end up having a lot of 3s in my ratings.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Sep 16 2024

Ahhh yeah....The way this started out! Totally fit my mood this Friday Morning. ooooh that smooth sax on the second track! It's funny I'd never heard of this guy, but just by looking at the song list (only 5 tracks) and their lengths (averaging 8 min and one being 12min) I knew it would be jazz. I do enjoy jazz.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Sep 17 2024

Wow she's so pretty! What a unique voice. There are so many of these songs that are way overplayed. But I do like the sound. Her music makes me want to be in a coffee shop while it's full on fall outside. I'll give this one a 4

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Sep 18 2024

69 Soul? Sounds good! I never even got to this today. I'll check it out tomorrow. Oooo I love the way this started out. And the vibe in on point. I'll give this one a 4

Dare! by The Human League
Sep 19 2024

The Human League I know not who this is. 1981, the year of the birth of my sister. Ooooh synth-pop. You know I love that! Oh crazy, out of all these songs on this album, I do actually know Don't You Want Me and that was the very last track. Im thinking 4 on this one.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Sep 20 2024

Hm, this does not sound like '78. Way ahead of its time. Sounds 90s to me. And alot of the others more like late 80s I actually didn't hate this one. And will give it 4 stars.

Suede by Suede
Sep 25 2024

I think I've had a Suede album before. Sexy cover! There are parts of this song that remind me of Catherine Wheel. Meh.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Sep 26 2024

Well there's no argument that the Beatles were not musical geniuses, this album has been great, lots of great hits on here and I've enoyed some of the tracks I'd not heard before, like Because. I like the sound of You Never Give Me Your Money. 4 stars

American Idiot by Green Day

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Oct 03 2024

Death in Vegas?? hm. This first track sounds familiar. OH! fuck yeah I know this song. I like it! this is kind of a nice little treat. Didn't know what to expect here. but I'm diggin. This is cool has a dark type of ambience like Massive Attack. We'll say 4 on this one.

Pump by Aerosmith
Oct 04 2024

Alright! Some Aerosmith! I don't think I've had a singe Aerosmith album this whole time! That's so sad about his throat injury :/ ohhhh Goin Down/Love In An Elevator is on this album. Never heard that intro before lol. hm Janies's got a gun too. 4

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Oct 11 2024

Well this ones definitely going to get a 5 from me. Mainly for nostalgic reasons. But it is a great album. Today I learned Had a Dad ,was sampled in NINs Ringer finger. I had no idea. John told me. Nice piece of trivia there.

Butterfly by Mariah Carey
Oct 14 2024

I'm loving the nostalgia this album has. I never really listened to MC other than what they played on the radio, but she's got such a beautiful voice omg!! I really loved My All holy shit! That went right into my Liked songs. gonna re listen to it right now actually. Man so beautiful!

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Oct 15 2024

Never heard of this guy before. This first song is cool sounding has that latin sound. I like his voice. HAHA the more I hear his voice the more it reminds me of that sad clown from PMJB Puddles Pitty Party? something like that. Meh not crazy abou this. I mean it's nice but meh. Howlin' For You too. ooh I like Black Mud! Too Afraid to love you is awesome too. I really liked this album. Not quite a 5 but a solid 4 stars!

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Oct 23 2024

Hm this whole album only has 4 tracks and only 2 are available on Spotify. What is this, experimental, psychedelic? German Electronic...oh cool! these guys did the sound track to the 1986 movie Legend with Tom Cruise. I think I only ever watched that movie one time. I should rewatch it. This was cool but just 3 stars.

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Oct 24 2024

This album blows. 2 stars.

The Stooges by The Stooges
Oct 25 2024

Didn't get to this yesterday but I'll play a few of these I don't think I'll listen to the whole 2 hrs. We Will Fall is cool, slow dark and morbid. Oh damn it's a 10 min track. Meh I'm not going to listen to the whole thing. I like the old 60s rock sound for sure but.. 3 stars.

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Oct 28 2024

FUck yeah now we talking. I'll take Led Zeppelin over The Stooges any day! Ooooh Kashmir is on this album! Led Zeppelin is one of those bands that have the ability to transport me through time and makes me really feel those times somehow. Hard to describe. I can't believe Kimberly doesn't like them! The guitar in Bron-Yr-Aur is amazing! Ten Years Gone is really pretty too. Yep 5 stars!

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta
Oct 29 2024

What a great album art this is. This album was actually really cool. I'd hear their more popular songs, but never a whole album from start to finish. I'll give this one 4 stars.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
Nov 04 2024

Didn't get to this on Friday so listening now. Spotify says they are the best English band ever to hit it big in America. Funny album name. The first track was instrumental so didn't really know what kind of music to expect here. The second track is cool. This album is 2hrs long! We'll see if I last that long. Yeah I can't do this for 2 hrs. I think I made it throuh 5/30 tracks lol 3 stars.

hmm. not sure what to expect here. Sounds like disco! okay...I could probably use some of this today. Oh WTF!? I know Le Freak. That's a classic! It was a nice change of music. But only a 3 here. Would have given 3.5 if I could.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Nov 08 2024

Hmm I'm really liking this today! I don't know if I would have typically liked this but it's hitting the spot today. I'm going to mark this 4 stars. And will listen to the whole thing. I think I had a Rolling Stones album before maybe even more than one, and didn't rate it too high. I guess it just depends what my mood is at the time. Yep, I've had 3 before this one and I gave them all a 3

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Nov 11 2024

Awe shit! Dude this album has White Rabbit and Somebody to Love!! This will be fun. Would have been cool to be around when this first came out, to listen to it on vinyl...Grace Slick has such a unique voice! I also love the distinct sound of 60's rock. What a time that would have been to be alive. The intro to Comin Back To Me is pretty with the flute. Same with Embryonic Journey! what a cool name too. Ooooh super diggin this In The Morning song!! so bluesy!! 5 Stars!

Let It Be by The Replacements
Nov 14 2024

It was okay I'll give it 3 stars.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Nov 15 2024

Awwwe Simon and Garfunkle. My mom loved these guys. I think she said one of her music teachers introduced her to them when learning about harmonizing. They do harmonize pretty fucking good. lol This album had a couple songs that perked my ears. Some darkness in one of them, no not the sound of silence. Something about rats. And then a naughty reference in A Simple Desultory Philippic.

Nov 18 2024

Didn't get around to this on Friday but listening now. What a legend Johnny was man. Ah, this is the one with Hurt! That's so cool that he covered that song. I thought for the longest time that this was before NINs but nope. Trents was first. Awe Give My Love To Rose too. I like that one. Dude, this album is fire. There are so many covers on here! Including Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Nov 19 2024

Hmm we'll see if I can last through this whole album. Johnny Cash is one thing, but a trio of cunt-ry women? My aunt used to like Linda Ronstadt. Kind of just listening passively but it's not too bad. Still not giving it more than 2 stars but somehow today it just fits. 2 stars

My Generation by The Who
Nov 20 2024

Never gave much thought to The Who. funny but the cover reminds me of the Beatles, and the music surprisingly is not very different. lol They're one of those bands that I know was all the rave at one point but don't really consider earth shattering. Hm I'm A Man is totally different than the rest. Straight up Blues. Probably my favorite so far. 3 stars

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Nov 21 2024

HEYYYY I was just listening to her earlier this week! Oh Crucify is on this. HM This was 3 yrs before Boys for Pele. I thought her fame came from that one but Crucify was a hit way before. I love Tori Amos. Oh shit Silent All These Years too is awesome! I really liked this album. I went on a whole Tori kick after this and checked out some of her other stuff.

Nov 22 2024

The only song I can name of his is the If you want my body song. We'll give it an honest effort. It's only 40 min. I mean this is pretty average. I've said it before but anyone who can put together and album at all deserves recognition and in my book is way talented than me. But sometimes the album is just average. Oh! (Find A) Reason To Believe is on this. I know this one. Didn't know it was Rod Stewart. On this one I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars but leaning more towards a 3.

The Last Of The True Believers by Nanci Griffith
Nov 25 2024

hmmmm 80s country...I don't like country. Sorry Nanci I have to cut you short. Not my jam. 2 stars.

I did listen to this and liked it. not as much as some of their other stuff but it's Radiohead man! 4 stars.

Lost Souls by Doves
Nov 28 2024

This album was actually really good. Parts of it reminded me of Sigur Ros, others of Everclear, and other parts were just a nice sound that I didn't necessarily associate with other bands. I'll give this one a 4

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Dec 02 2024

I like Morrissey's voice. It always takes me back to the first time I heard him on a mixed tape that Robs older brother made. He had great taste of music. It's where I first heard Milla too. I don't know how he got ahold of his music back then but it was magical. 3 stars here though.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Dec 03 2024

I didn't get to this album yesterday because I was trying to catch up on the ones I missed over the TG break. But when I saw this pop up I thought it was Presidents of the USA. This is totally different. So, not sure what to expect but being the 60's I can take a pretty good guess. This Cloud Song sounds a lot like the music on Coraline! Okay I gotta give them credit for having a wide variety of different sounds. Not every song sounds the same. Although it is a bit too experimental. Okay I was only going to give it 2 stars but I'll give it 3. I really wish it was on a scale of 10 stars.

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Dec 04 2024

hmmm never heard of these guys either. But 1997 was a good year. The year I graduated from HS. And the year Angelica was born. A sound clip from NYC starts out the first track, sounding like it might be hip hop? Reading the Wiki now. Electronica, lets go! This second track is pretty cool. It's got nice deep bass, and cool beat, also cool sampling. Okay this was pretty good. 4 stars.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Dec 05 2024

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
Dec 06 2024

I knew I would recognize one of their songs. I Want You to Want Me!! I don't know, other than that one song none of the others are really great songs. I'm sure they were the shit back in the day but it's just not catching my interest. 3 stars.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Dec 10 2024

This is a rather dark image for being a Beach Boys album. It was alright. 3 stars.

Make Yourself by Incubus
Dec 11 2024

It was nice to hear some of these songs. I hadn't ever heard the whole album before, just whatever they played on the radio. And boy did it take me back to that time in my life. It was a tough spot. I was still trying to figure out myself while at the same time dealing with the most manipulative person I've ever met. It was rough. But I digress. As far as the album goes, it's getting a 4 from me.

The Who Sell Out by The Who
Dec 12 2024

Hmmmm. How many Who albums have I had now? I think I've mentioned on past albums, how I just can't seem to really get into them. I know they were a big deal in their day but I don't see the allure. So it looks like this is my 3rd album from them. Yeah sorry. 2 stars

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Dec 13 2024

Dec 20 2024

"And by the way, if you see your mom this weekend, will you be sure and tell her SATAN!!!! LOL. It's got such a cool intro. All slow and cinematic sounding. A bit mysterious. this secong one is cool too! Human Cannonball was awesome had that punk sound. U.S.S.A...KMFDM has a song called that. Man this is so different from the stuff I knew from them first which was that Pepper song. Welp, giving this one 5 stars!

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
Dec 23 2024

The diversity of this album alone gets like 3 stars but then you add, the extra bonus of realizing where Eminem stole that trailer park girls line from and that adds another star. 6 is cool reminds me of a track off the NBK soundtrack. But all the track thus far....track! lol that's punny. #8 also has that same sound. Song for Chango is cool! Sounds Brazilian. LOL that last track was a dosy do song! Good stuff man. 4 stars. 5 stars. I'm torn. I'll decide monday. And now for my Release Radar!!

Meh it was alright. The whole album was only 9 min long. I had heard only one of them, Our House. But I didn’t know it was these guys that sung it. 2 stars.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Jan 02 2025

I really liked what I heard of this album. I don’t get all the way through it and was distracted on what I did hear of it. I hearted one song from here and will go back to listen to it again on good headphones and when I can focus on it.

Liz Phair...how come I can't think of any of her songs. I feel like I should know some. I guess we'll see. Why Can't I. That's the one I've heard. Not on this album but yeah. Well I do like the 90s guitar sound in here. So this was good, not quite a 4 but a solid 3. I especially liked the lyrics in Flower.

Man this whole album is full of bangers!!! 5 stars hands down. These guys know how to make amazing intros. The drum solo at the beginning of Hot For Teacher is dope! Intro to I'll Wait, fire. Would have been fun to be in my 20s during the mid 80s.

Jan 22 2025

The Man Who by Travis
Jan 23 2025

Never heard of these guy. But being a 99 album there might be hope. There are lots of times this guys voice sounds like the radiohead guy. Awe Luv was really cute. I like what I've heard. But there is a bit of monotony through out. I'm giving this one 3 stars. Oh wow there's a hidden track lol. So 90s.

Love this shit!! So happy to have gotten a punk album today. This is getting 5 stars. Love this old school punk, and the last 9 min track was a bonus. Usually this type of music only gets 2 or 3 min tracks. Sometimes les than 2 min! Plus this came out on my birthyear so extra bonus.

Ahhhhhhh shit! Leftfield!! nice. To be honest I was confusing Leftfield with Underworld both on the Trainspotting soundtrack. I am thoroughly enjoying this album! Trance-endental. There are parts that remind me of psy trance, like 1200 Micrograms and other parts that remind me of Plastikman. Fuck yeah man this album is fire. 5 million stars. lol

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Feb 27 2025

Emperor Tomato Ketchup. lol The 90s were full of interesting random lyrics. Really broke the mold there as far as what was accepted in lyrics. Either way I don't know if i know these guys. But excited for a mid 90s album! The picture of the band on Spotify is hot, none of the girls are wearing bras :P. I've really like what I heard today. I only got to track 7 here at work but I'll listen to the rest and report back tomorrow.

I like this!! What is it about the 90s that has such a distinct sound/feel to it. Never heard of these guys but I'm digging it so far. Interesting, the first couple of songs were kida fast paced, but the rest of the album was slow and kind of mysterious. I liked it but not more than 3 stars.

What do we got here some soul?! or disco? this first tracks intro is awesome!! Sounds like something Quentin Tarantino would have in a movie. Well we only get 6 of these tracks. Butt apparently it was used for the movie Shaft? Mainly instrumental. "The mob wanted Harlem back. They got Shaft up to here" is the movie tagline lmao. Man what a voice! This whole time I thought it was their original tune! So that was cool to hear that. She also had a version of House of the Rising Sun, and All My Trials. It was some good folk reminded me a ton of Peter Paul and Mary. But still only 3 stars

A time in my life where there were many changes going on. A time where I was trying to learn to be responsible. A time where I was still struggling with addiction. 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Mar 03 2026

Diggin this old school rap hehe. There was something so pure and almost naivety to the older stuff. Rap has morphed into something so weird. I can't get into the newer stuff.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra

Ingenue by k.d. lang
Mar 20 2026

Let's see what k.d. is all about...oh wow, I knew I would recognize at least one of her songs. I remebmer seeing her name thrown around in the 90s. It was the very last track Constant Craving. One other song did catch my attention though, Still Thrives this Love?

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens

This was alright. I listened very passively but I liked the vibe. 3 stars.

Kimono My House by Sparks
Mar 24 2026

Hmm, what is this 70s rock? I didn't really like this. I think it's the voice and style of singing. Equator almost gave me a panic attack.

Oh hell yeah!! I have really come to love Janice, man. Her voice is unreal!! So full of soul and emotion! Fuckin love it. Yep this album was fire all the way through. RIP Janice and thank you for pouring your heart and soul to us through your music.

Mar 26 2026

I really loved this album. I liked the, I don't even know what to call it but the vibe that reminds me of Dee-lite. I liked the mix of bossa nova with the electro dance beats. I can't articulate what I'm trying to say. The dreaminess of it...

Elephant Mountain by The Youngbloods
Mar 27 2026

Don't know what to expect here. Youngbloods lol a term that makes me think of g funks. 1969.... I liked the violin intro. Interesting, it's like country 60s rock...Hm, these guys do Get Together. Cmon people now smile on your brother...not on this album though. It has a beatles vibe to it. It's nice chill music. I don't know how some of the albums make it on to this list. This is one of them. I mean it's not shitty music but it's not like amazing you know. I like the attitude on Sham. and the guitar on it. Lot's of great instruments being used, like the xylophone on the last track, the piano through out. 3 stars.

Street Life by The Crusaders
Mar 30 2026

Hey.... my birth year! oooooh sexy sax at the beginning! I didn't expect a female singer, since I didn't see one on the album cover unless it's the chick getting out of the car. But she white lol. oh wow, Street life just opened up, with the drums. Oh I think I've heard this song. Wow, suddenly transported right to the 70s. What would that life be like. lol I like this sound. Soul disco. digging this album thus far. Very jazzy. Seems only that first track had any vocals. 4 stars.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Mar 31 2026

Punishing Kiss by Ute Lemper
Apr 01 2026

Oh wow, I know of 4 of those artists that it mentions on the cover. Most of them from here. Starfish for eyes. lol Funny how the album art can look German, which apparently she is. Hm, that first song was pretty. Tango Ballad, is cool. Kurt Weill is on this one. I clicked on his name, and his top song is Mack the Knife. I thought that was Bobby Darin. I just clicked on Bobby Darin, man they did a good job casting Kevin Spacey as him in Beyond the Sea. Wow that lead me down a rabbit hole that uncovered what a douche bag Spacey ended up being. All kinds of crazy sexual assault allegations!!

D by White Denim
Apr 08 2026

I listened to this while I was walking Mia yesterday. It was alright. Nothing more than average. The drug song was kind of funny.. Made me think that it would be one of those bands that we use to listen to at Park City.

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Apr 09 2026

Ahh the good ol 60's the music was so distinct! This one has been pretty chil I like it I think I'll give it 4 stars. The voice in some of these is pretty intense. Like in Try Me on for Size. Also some good sexy lyrics in a few of these.

Fuck dude this shit is giving me anxiety! I can't do organs. Had to skip it 20 fucking minutes long!? I didn't like this album.

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Apr 13 2026

Never heard of these guys. I saw the year and oh cool some 80s music! Then the picture made me think maybe country. But nope. "a mixture of traditional Irish music, traditional Scottish music, country music, and rock and roll" I do like the Irish Scottish sound. I may not listen to the whole thing since it's an hour and 42 minutes! And today is Friday so I want to get to my Release Radar. I like this second track. We Will Not Be Lovers. This one actually has a great sound a bit of 80s rock comes through. But it's the sound of the vocals! Trying to think who it reminds me of. Maybe early Eddie Vedder when he sings through clenched teeth? I listened to that one twice back to back. Had to skip through all the country sounding ones. The Stolen Child is a nice track. I like the flute in it. Damn the flute in Carolan's Welcome is really pretty. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. But I am reluctant to give it more than 3 stars.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Apr 14 2026

Oh fuck yeah! I'm excited for this one. But obviously 5 stars! :D I don't know that I've ever given this album a listen all the way through! Crazy. Hummer was fucking dope! Soma is awesome too. I like these lesser known tracks. Well goes without saying 5 stars.

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Apr 20 2026

This album, is not on Spotify. But I found it on YouTube. I'll listen to a few. I'm a little behind. I do like the sound of his voice. Kind of sad lyrics on this first track. Oh that wasn't the first track it was Winter In America. Rivers of My Fathers is pretty too. Really Jazzy.

Faust IV by Faust
Apr 21 2026

I know not what I am about to dive into here...Faust makes me think of a classical composer. A couple of these track names make me think punk...and the year too...hmm Krautrock is expiremental rock and this first 9 minute track definitely sounds like it. hehe okay I couldn't get through that first track all the way. Skipped it after like 5 min. I don't know man, not really my style. ido like some of what i'm hearing. 3 stars only because I had chat gpt explain to my why this album was selected.

#1 Record by Big Star
Apr 22 2026

Well we're going one year back from my last album. This is definitely very obviously rock and I can get behind this one. Though I do not belive I've even heard of Big Star. Well maybe I have hear of Thirteen it's their most listened to track on Spotify with 57.5 million plays. Today is April 21 and this album was released on April 24th That's kinda cool. Diggin the harmonizing on this album. I kinda like getting GPTs summary on these albums. Nope I had never heard Thirteen, but boy is it a good song.

Apr 23 2026

Dude, this album was fire! Don't think I ever heard it all the way through. Just the songs they would play on the radio. And now I have P.I.M.P. stuck in my head lol. Anyways. I really liked the energy this has and the attitude that comes through. I like that it took me back to when I met my wife 24 yrs ago. I can't believe it's been that long. 5 stars

Sheet Music by 10cc
Apr 27 2026

Hmm, this album was pretty cool and after everything that GPT told me about this album, I think I'll rate it a 4 and that's being generous. Some catchy tunes in here and good melodies, good hooks.

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Apr 28 2026

I don't think I've heard of these guys. But it's promising being that it's an early 90s album :D Hm, Im kinda digging this honestly. I love the rawness of it. The acoustic sounds. So cool how every decade has like a signature to the music. Cliche proves that. I like it. Might be giving this one a 5. Was still living in Montana when this came out. Only 14 yrs old. We didn't really have any way to have been exposed to this. Maybe Missoula had some stations that would play this kind of stuff.

Real Life by Magazine
Apr 29 2026

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
May 01 2026

Damn, I think I'm going to love this one. Never heard of this artist but I put it into GPT and it sounds awesome the way it was described. I like how the first track blended into the second and the birds at the beginning of Did you see butterflies. Yeah this one gets a 5. Loved the dreaminess of it, the hypnotic rhythms, the airy vocals.

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
May 04 2026

Ooh I'm super excited to hear this one. Holy shit this album was sooooo good!! I really loved that cute little duet You Didn't Have To Be So Nice. Made me tear up a bit! What a beautiful album. I will be revisiting this one for sure! 5 big stars here.

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
May 05 2026

Wow, I'm really loving the guitar on this first track. I like the softness of his voice too. Holy shit the piano on the second track, damn! I've actually heard this one before. Yep, I had that one favorited. Don't know how I came across that one. The melodies on these songs are pretty. Where Dreams Go To Die was really good. I liked JC Hates Faggots lol. I'll give this one 4 stars.

Third by Soft Machine
May 06 2026

Kind of excited for this one after reading GPTs breakdown. It is described as Jazz Rock. There are only 3 tracks on Spotify though. But that's a combined total of 56 min. This first track is a little anxiety ridden, like nails on a chalkboard. that whole first track is just noise man, couldn't even finish it. The second track was a little more enjoyable but damn this is brutal. 2 stars.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
May 07 2026

I have a hard time getting into Bruce Springfield. But Mansion on the Hill is really pretty song. I like the sadness in it. It was alright. 3 stars.

May 08 2026

Well that was interesting I really get more out of these albums when GPT tells me about them. I connected way more with the groove-oriented and atmospheric tracks than the harsher experimental ones. “Regiment” stood out immediately because of the Middle Eastern vocals and hypnotic vibe, while “America Is Waiting” felt abrasive and harder to enjoy. “Mea Culpa” clicked more for me because it had a stronger rhythmic anchor. “The Jezebel Spirit” was a big turning point for me — I loved the groovy intro and got really interested in the origins of the exorcism sample after finding out it came from a real religious recording instead of a movie. I also enjoyed “Very Very Hungry” because it balanced experimentation with groove and flow. By the time I got to “Moonlight in Glory” and “The Carrier,” I was especially drawn to the Middle Eastern/Lebanese vocal samples and the immersive atmosphere they created. Overall, I appreciated the album most when the experimental production served rhythm, trance-like repetition, and mood rather than chaos or tension. This was a great album. 4 stars.

John Prine by John Prine
May 12 2026

Sorry I just can't do country or songwriting. 1 star.

Stankonia by OutKast
May 13 2026

Another album I have definitely heard a few songs from but never listened to the whole thing all the way through. Intro was cool hehe, loved the sexy lady moaning. Gasoline Dreams: Awesome guitar, energy, and beat. I'm Cool: sexy voice, LOL Bitch stay off that blow. So Fresh, So Clean: Yep this is one I've definitely heard before. Mr. Jackson: Didn't know these were back to back on the album. I like this song.

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
May 14 2026

meh, this was okay. I didn't even listen to the whole thing through but what I heard was cool. What I found most interesting was that he was the sole player of all instruments on that album. That's pretty amazing talent. Not only to be able to play all the instruments but to be able to put them all together. So..3 stars on this one.

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
May 15 2026

Well let's see what we got here. hehe from GPT "A lot of the songs feel cinematic — not in an explosive way, but in a lonely-neon-street-at-2am kind of way." That's a pretty specific vibe. This first track is quite pretty. Definitely does not sound like it's from 2005. The Ocean was a great track. The whole album was very pleasant. The fact that it felt like a different time made it for me. Very chill, and romantic sounding. I really liked this album. I'm giving it 5 stars.

Black Metal by Venom
May 18 2026

Fucking loving this!! All the satanic lyrics, the sound, the voice. This gets 5 stars.

Sunshine Superman by Donovan
May 19 2026

This was a great album. I knew 2 songs from here. I liked the one about lucifers legion. Funny how such an upbeat happy tune can have satanic lyrics. I love the Season of the Witch and the first one Sunshine Superman.

Berlin by Lou Reed
May 20 2026

This was okay. I enjoyed reading GPTs take on why it make the list and I can appreciate that. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. 3 stars.

May 21 2026

This album has been really great so far. I've really enjoyed it. It's got nice happy vibes. It reminds me of a song on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack. Kipenda Roho by Remmy Ongala 5 stars. I even relistened to it while making dinner

Revolver by Beatles

this was a great listen. Recognized several songs on this one for sure. 4 stars.

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
May 27 2026

Oh man, think anyone under the age of 20 had even heard of this artist until Stranger Things resurrected her with Running Up That Hill. It doesn't appear to be on this album, but I'm excited for some 80s music. Let's see what GPT says about this one. This one seems to be all about her voice. I really like that I've been doing this with GPT so I know what to appreciate on each album. I like the way this was described. "It’s sensual in the literal sense: texture, breath, touch, movement, memory, bodies, language, atmosphere." "On this album, she’s more close-up and physical — breathier, warmer, more tactile. The title track especially feels like she’s not just singing about sensuality, she’s letting the phrasing, rhythm, and mouth-feel of the words become part of the sensuality." "Her voice becomes a character, the instruments become scenery, and the production creates this soft-focus emotional world around everything." 4 Stars

May 28 2026

Super stoked about this one. I guess it's supposed to be all about witches and witchcraft and Walpurgis Night.

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Jun 02 2026

OMG This album was so good!! I love the Indian, Latin, Hip-Hop mashups. I would totally listen to this again.

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Jun 03 2026

Oooooooh PJ Harvey!! I will always remember how big of an impact Down by the Water made on me when I first heard it. It has such a sinister sound to it. I've never heard this album before. But so far I'm liking it. I like the slow trancelike intro to the first track. I'll make you lick my injuries. Love that line. 1993 I was 14 when this album came out. This was a time in my life, when so much media was censored from me. So theres no way I would have even gotten my hands on this. The album does not sound polished. It sounds like the band is in the room with you, possibly too close, possibly holding a broken bottle. That dynamic is the point. The quiet parts are really quiet, and then the loud parts come in like violence. It’s not mixed to be comfortable; it’s mixed to make you lean in and then get punched. The whole album is full of sexual tension, anger, humiliation, control, and revenge — but it never feels like a tidy confession. It feels more like performance art dragged through blues-punk mud. Yeah this album was so dope!

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Jun 04 2026

Totally digging that bluesy, grimy, barroom swagger on this album. Sounds like drunk sailors, busted accordions, street-corner prophets, alley cats, and sad men in wet coats. He takes blues, sea shanties, polka, tango, jazz, folk, spoken-word weirdness, and rock, then runs all of it through this rusted urban dreamworld. It sounds old, but not nostalgic. It sounds theatrical, but not fake. It feels like a city full of damaged characters all singing from different alleys.

Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
Jun 05 2026

This one was such a great album! The guitars are often fuzzy and crunchy, but the songs themselves are super melodic. It is not aggressive in the way grunge is, but it has enough distortion and looseness that it doesn’t feel too clean or precious. It was like a really good worn-in flannel shirt of an album — soft, fuzzy, melodic, and quietly addictive.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Jun 08 2026

Man this album was great!! A lot of it is more hypnotic and atmospheric, especially when they stretch out into repetitive grooves and hazy guitar textures. The opener “Be-In” is basically the band announcing, “we are here to make a long psychedelic entrance.” “Boys Better” has more punch and swagger. “Good Morning” is the big slow-burn comedown track and probably the emotional centerpiece if you let it settle. this is a smoky, sarcastic, psychedelic 90s comedown record. Not dark like industrial, not heavy like metal, not emotionally devastating like Rain Dogs — more like lying on the floor after a party while the room is still spinning a little and the guitars keep buzzing in the walls, especially with the last track, The Creep Out

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Jun 09 2026

Man, super diggin this album. It's so pretty! I have already saved 2 songs from it. I like the Jazzy beginning, and one of them had a latin sound it. The 70's in it is certainly present in the sound. I'm lovin how how freely he fused things: Indian melody, filmi orchestration, funk basslines, disco, jazz, Latin percussion, psychedelic touches, spy-movie grooves, and huge theatrical vocals. Okay make that 3 I've hearted 3!

Synchronicity by The Police
Jun 10 2026

this is not just “the album with Every Breath You Take.” It’s more like a sleek 80s pop-rock record with a nervous breakdown hiding underneath. If the production sheen doesn’t put you off, there’s a lot of atmosphere, tension, and darkness to appreciate here.

Car Wheels On A Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams
Jun 11 2026

This was alright. Nothing I'd play again. I did appreciate the 90s sound to it obviously.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jun 12 2026

Wow, this is so 80's. I love it. So poppy. The beginning of Absolute sounds a lot like Michael Jackson. This is very much poppy 80s synth vibes, but not in a cheesy “mall montage” way. It’s more precise and glossy — like someone took funk, synth-pop, R&B, reggae-pop, and new wave, then polished every edge until it sparkled. The whole album has that bright digital 80s studio sound: tight programmed drums, clean bass pops, shiny synth accents, and vocals that feel almost weightless.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jun 15 2026

Holy shit this album is so great! It came out in 1996, when Fiona Apple was still a teenager, and that’s part of why it made the list. Not just because she was young, but because the album has this unusually mature emotional vocabulary: desire, shame, anger, manipulation, insecurity, self-possession, and romantic damage. It does not sound like a manufactured 90s pop debut. It sounds like someone already building her own private emotional language. Fucking love it. 5 big stars.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jun 16 2026

This was okay. There were a few songs that stood out but nothing I would write home about.

Kenza by Khaled
Jun 17 2026

This was pretty fun to listen to but only 3 stars.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jun 18 2026

Finally all caught up. I liked Imagine and Oh My Love the best. 3 stars.

Jun 19 2026

This was pretty good. I really liked Drop The Pressure. This is one of those albums where the 1001 Albums inclusion makes sense because it captures a very specific moment: electronic music getting slick, accessible, cheeky, sample-heavy, and indie-crossover friendly. Not dark-club industrial exactly, but definitely in the same broad family of “build a whole world out of loops, texture, and rhythm.” 4 stars.

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Jun 23 2026

This was pretty alright. I liked what GPT said about it being one of the first live albums. "is one of the big “live album as cultural event” records. It is not just on the list because Peter Frampton played well live; it is there because this album became absolutely massive and helped define the idea that a live record could be the definitive version of an artist." Of course I loved Show me the Way, Baby I Love Your Way. 3 stars.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Jun 24 2026

it is one of the records that helped show late-90s electronic music could be messy, colorful, funny, hyperactive, soulful, and wildly musical without losing the club pulse. A lot of dance music gets sorted into neat boxes — house, techno, trip-hop, whatever — but Remedy feels like Basement Jaxx just threw the walls down and said, “what if all of it is a party?” You get house grooves, UK club energy, ragga and Latin touches, big diva vocals, weird samples, rubbery basslines, and this constant sense that anything could pop into the mix. This was okay. A little random and drum and bassy for me but it was good. I really wish the scale was 1-10 because I feel like I give way too many 3s. 3 stars.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Jun 25 2026

meh, another songwritting album that I can't really get into. I thought maybe the jazziness that GPT mentioned this album would have would be enough to get this to a 3 but nope.

Vespertine by Björk
Jun 26 2026

OMG Hell yes! I love Bjork so much. Her newer stuff was super weird but this album is pretty amazing. I remember her at some awards ceremony, maybe the academy awards and how controversial her swan dress was. I think it was the same event the Matt Stone and Trey Parker showed up tripping on acid. lol The year Jade was born. I love the way GPT described this album. This is Björk going inward. After the huge, bold, explosive sound of albums like Post and Homogenic, Vespertine turns everything down into something intimate, icy, sensual, and microscopic. It’s not minimal in the boring sense; it’s more like she zoomed in so close that tiny sounds become enormous. Music boxes, harp, choir, soft electronics, little clicks and glitches, breathy vocals, snow-globe textures — the whole album feels private, physical, and sacred. The reason it made the list is that it’s one of the great early-2000s art-pop/electronic albums. It takes electronic production away from the club and turns it into chamber music for headphones. Instead of beats that hit your body, you get rhythms that feel like they’re happening under your skin. That was a huge part of the album’s identity: digital sounds made warm, intimate, and human. This is obviously a big 5 for me.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jun 29 2026

Southern rock/jazz/blues! Let's go. Fuck I love me some good blues riffs! Damn the Stormy Monday intro is so smooth! Yeah man, this song is so bad ass! Cant help but start dancing a bit to You Don't Love Me. Fuck man, I need to get us an electric guitar!

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Jun 30 2026

Ugh, 2 hours and 45 minutes!!!? Hell no. I listened to about a half hour. That's enough thank you. Some of them were funny, but I can't listen to the whole thing. 2 stars

Jul 01 2026

This album was pretty good. SAULT balances pain and uplift. A track might groove beautifully, but the subject matter underneath can be heavy as hell. That contrast matters. It’s not just “sad protest music”; it’s also about resilience, pride, memory, protection, anger, love, and survival. The percussion and basslines often give it physical movement, while the vocals and spoken passages keep pulling it back into lived experience.

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Jul 02 2026

New Boots and Panties!! by Ian Dury is a very British, very odd, very personality-driven album. This one is on the list because it helped define a whole lane of late-70s UK music that sits between pub rock, punk, funk, music hall, spoken-word comedy, and working-class character performance. Interesting. I do love the wit of the brit. And this accent reminds me of Dick Van Dykes atrocious cockney accent in the movie Mary Poppins. lol Oooo I love the tempo change in the middle of Sweet Gene Vincent. All of a sudden it switches to like a 50s rock groove. This album is 2 hrs long. We'll see how long I last. Well it's 2 hrs because it includes a second disc, basically the same tracks all labeled "Demo" So I guess I did listen to the whole thing. I give it 3 stars.

I See You by The xx
Jul 03 2026

The only on I know from these guys is Intro. I really like the way GPT described this album. The xx are masters of restraint: guitar lines that barely move, bass parts that feel like a pulse in a dark room, vocals that sound close but guarded. On I See You, those elements are still there, but they’re surrounded by horns, samples, brighter synths, and more rhythmic energy. The album feels less like two people whispering in a bedroom and more like two people trying to carry that private sadness into the outside world. Say Something Loving is pretty. Has a really pretty emotional build up. I only gave the first album I got from these guys 3 stars? hm it was their xx album. The one with Intro. Lips is really pretty too. Lots of texture here. I don't know man, this album is actually really growing on me. I'm giving it 4 stars.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jul 06 2026

I'm not too familiar with Lou Reed. My first exposure to him was through Trainspotting. "Perfect Day" plays when Mark is overdosing. I love that song, it's on my karaoke list. And of course I've heard Walk on the Wild Side. Those both happen to be on this album! meh, 3 stars.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Jul 07 2026

I enjoyed this album. I was a bit distracted but I like what I heard. I will give this 4 stars

Jul 08 2026

Hell yeah I love the raw attitude in this album. This whole thing was fire. I loved it! I'm giving this one 5 stars. I especially liked the history around this album. This is Ice Cube’s first solo album after leaving N.W.A., and that context is everything. He had already been one of the sharpest voices in gangsta rap, but this album is where he proves he can stand completely on his own. Instead of staying with the West Coast production sound people expected, he went to New York and worked with The Bomb Squad, who were known for producing Public Enemy. So you get Ice Cube’s L.A. rage and street perspective over dense, chaotic, sample-heavy East Coast production. That combination is a huge reason the album made the list. The sound is aggressive as hell. The Bomb Squad beats are not smooth or minimal; they’re crowded, noisy, funky, and confrontational. Horn stabs, sirens, funk samples, scratches, hard drums, voices flying in and out — it can almost feel like the music is arguing with you while Cube is rapping. That fits the album’s mood perfectly: angry, political, funny, vicious, paranoid, and totally unwilling to make anyone comfortable.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Jul 09 2026

The songs often have strong melodies and scrappy punk energy, but the performances feel like they might fall apart at any second. That fragility is the appeal. It’s romantic in a very British, dirty-jacket, cigarette-burn, pub-floor kind of way. The band were obsessed with old England, poetry, street life, punk, The Clash, The Smiths, and this fantasy world they called “Albion,” which gives the album more character than just “garage rock dudes with guitars.” The Libertines is beautiful shambles rock — catchy, scruffy, unstable, and full of doomed friendship energy. If you can get into the mess, it has a lot of charm. If not, it may just sound like a bunch of British guys who needed sleep, therapy, and probably some water. Yeah this album was great! I enjoyed it and GPTs description of the album the lyrics the band, were spot on. I am going to give it 4 stars.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jul 10 2026

Meh, this was okay. I was kind of excited when GPT described this as: "Steely Dan are more like cynical jazz-pop engineers: immaculate playing, strange chords, dark jokes, smooth surfaces, and lyrics full of creeps, losers, scams, nostalgia, and moral rot." But it was just okay 3 stars.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jul 13 2026

This was nice. I enjoyed it. I knew Watermelon Man from Mid 90s I'll give it 4 stars.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Jul 14 2026

hm, not sure I know these guys. But this first track has a great sound to it, I think this album has potential. I definitely like the attitude and punk that comes through. I had to pause it to see if I know any of their songs. I'll Stand by You is their top hit. But it has a totally different sound. Still very 80's but more on the poppy side. I like the song, but I like the energy and attitude from the album better. Don't get me wrong was the second biggest song. I love the 80s so much! This one sounds like it could be on Mannequin, which we just watched this weekend. Okay back to the album. This is their debut!? Wow what a great first impression. lol loving Tatooed Love Boys. Kid was really nice too. I like the melancholy melody to it. Oh shit!! Brass in Pocket just came on. Of course I know this one!! 5 stars.

Hearts And Bones by Paul Simon
Jul 15 2026

Didn't get to listen to this yesterday so checking it out now. Ooh I like how that first song opened up after the intro. Allergies though?? lol hm cool little guitar solo in there too! Interesting first song. I like the pretty guitar in the beginning of Hearts and Bones. This was okay. 3 stars

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
Jul 16 2026

Per GPT's description of this this might be really good. Says that "Musically, this sits somewhere between alt-rock, hard rock, post-grunge, glam darkness, and dramatic 90s arena-sized emotional release." That's my kinda shit! I like the title too. Post Orgasmic Chill lol. Okay this first track starts out pretty cool. Not sure about the drum and bass though. Oh okay here's the distorted guitar. And damn the voice! Nice. Dude this is so cool! On My Hotel Tv, has some nice funky bass, almost RHCP vibes. I love that agressive sound. This chicks voice is sick! "God licks your face" lol. I love that she just casually drops the nigger word all through out. British alternative quartet Skunk Anansie played what their lead singer, Skin, called clit-rock --LOVE this!! I love this lady's voice she can go from sweet and caressing to growly screamo in the same sentence. Both are penetrating! This was great! 5 stars.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jul 17 2026

This album made the 1001 Albums list because it is wildly ambitious: part funk/soul record, part sci-fi concept album, part Broadway musical, part Prince/OutKast/James Brown/Stevie Wonder/Metropolis-inspired world-building project. Monáe isn’t just making songs here; she’s building a whole mythology around her android alter ego, Cindi Mayweather, and using that sci-fi framework to talk about identity, otherness, race, class, freedom, sexuality, and rebellion. What to listen for is how much range the album has without completely falling apart. It moves through orchestral overtures, funk, soul, rock, psychedelic pop, hip-hop-adjacent grooves, cabaret, and big cinematic arrangements. The album is divided into “suites,” so it is meant to feel theatrical and narrative, not just like a playlist of singles. Sounds exciting. Man this opening track is dope! So symphonic and theatrical. Says it's broken up into suites. That's pretty creative. This has really been a treat. It's hard to categorize this under one genre, and I love that. The orchestral element to this really gives it such a fascinating dynamic to it. The mash up of sci-fi, afro-futuristic, themes is genius. So unique. There are a couple tracks that have a 60s psychedelic vibe to it. For example 57821 Man Sail Away is beautiful!! I like the way she incorporated Claire de Lune, and also that beautiful soul honey voice. BaBobByeYa is amazing! What a great way to end the album. 5 stars!!!

Nice — A Nod Is as Good as a Wink... to a Blind Horse by Faces is basically peak loose, boozy, swaggering early-70s rock and roll. This is not a polished “studio masterpiece” kind of album. It’s more like walking into a pub where the band is somehow both half-drunk and unbelievably locked in. (per GPT) Meh, 3 stars.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Jul 21 2026

This was okay. I was listening very passively. But I enjoyed it. A couple tracks melodies caught my ear. 3 stars.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Jul 22 2026

Super excited for this one. I think I'll like it more than I did before, knowing this information: And now I can actually bump it up! 😛 This is one of the most important sample-based albums ever made. The big historical reason it made the list is that Endtroducing..... is often celebrated as the first full-length album built entirely from samples. DJ Shadow basically created a whole cinematic world out of old records: drums, basslines, spoken-word snippets, jazz fragments, funk breaks, psychedelic scraps, film dialogue, and weird atmospheric debris. But it doesn’t feel like a gimmick. It feels like memory, dust, rhythm, and loneliness assembled into beats. Think late-night record store basement, headphones, streetlights, old vinyl crackle, forgotten voices, drum breaks echoing through an empty city. It has hip-hop DNA, but it’s mostly instrumental, so the emotion comes from texture, pacing, and atmosphere. The big thing to listen for is how he turns fragments into architecture. A tiny vocal sample becomes a mood. A drum break becomes a landscape. A bassline repeats until it feels ominous. The album is very cinematic, but not in a glossy movie-soundtrack way — more like a collage of scenes from films that don’t exist. This is absolutely a headphones album. The little details matter. Listen for the dust between the samples as much as the samples themselves. I love all the description around this. “Building Steam With a Grain of Salt” Is so dope! Man this whole album was pretty fucking great! 5 stars.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Jul 23 2026

I love the way this album was described by GPT I'm excited for it! The Witch is great! Imagine hearing this in '65. I like the scratchy sound and the energy behind the vocals. Do You Love Me.. were they the first ones to do that song? I thought it was the Beatles. I guess the original artist for that one was The Contours. Roll Over Beethoven is on this album to, and I'm pretty sure someone else did that one first too. Yeah Chuck Berry. BUT The Beatles did do both those songs. Have Love Will Travel is a good one. Interesting title though. Man I'm really lovin the dirty sound to this! Money! I've heard this before. But not from these guys. Strychnine is awesome too! What a great album! 5 stars

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Jul 24 2026

Oh fuck yeah this album is so tits man. Nothing brings to me that nostalgic 80s rock feeling like Hysteria. Makes me wish that I was a teen in the 80s or early 20s. This tid bit from GPT is pretty impressive The drums have that massive, electronic/arena sound, especially because Rick Allen was playing with a custom electronic/acoustic setup after losing his arm. That gives the record a very specific feel: human resilience filtered through high-tech 80s rock production. LOL that Bloodhound Gang song comes to mind.

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Jul 27 2026

I didn't get to this on Friday. So listening now. Not really sure what to expect here. The album cover is interesting. "This album is art-pop/baroque-pop, and it made the list because it’s unusually grand for a 2003 singer-songwriter-ish record. But this is not John Prine “guy with guitar” songwriting. Rufus Wainwright is much more dramatic: piano, strings, opera influence, cabaret, classical flourishes, big emotional gestures, and a voice that can feel half pop singer, half stage performer. This first track has a little bit of Bolero. First time I heard that was from a Tomita album my mom had. His voice sounds familiar. I wonder if I know any of his songs. His top hit is Hallelujah. Probably the same song that Leonard Cohen does. Yep. I wonder who did the original of that song. Hm! Turns out Cohens was first. Movies of myself is kinda cool. Has the same rhythm as I would walk 500 miles. Well I got as far as Natasha. Not really my style, I'll give it a 3. This is my first time using the editing feature! Im so happy they've integrated this into the app. Well it felt disrespectful to NOT listen to the full album. So I did infact finish the album. It was an interesting listen. I don't think it's something i'd go back and isten to but. I appreciate the work.

Medúlla by Björk
Jul 28 2026

Oh. hiiiiiii Bjork! :) GPT says, "This is Björk’s “mostly voices” album. Not fully a cappella in the barbershop sense, but the concept is that the human voice becomes the main instrument: choirs, throat singing, beatboxing, layered vocals, breathing, chanting, guttural sounds, soft harmonies, and weird mouth textures. There are some non-vocal elements here and there, but the whole identity of the album is built around voice as rhythm, atmosphere, percussion, bass, melody, and ritual." I don't know if any of these tracks made it on the radio. Is this when she started getting weird? lol Hmm yeah this was a little much for me to really enjoy. There were so many tracks that were disturbing and difficult to get through. As much as I love Bjorks Post, Debut, and Homogenic albums. This one was too weird. 2 stars.

Jul 29 2026

Okay this album obviously gets 5 stars for me. Not only was almost every track on here a banger, but it has immense memories tied to it! Takes me right back to 1995 when I had just moved here to SLC, getting ready to get on the bus to go work at Park Lane, I'd put the CD on even if I only got to listen to a couple songs before having to leave. These were magical times for me. This album is great!

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Jul 30 2026

I never really heard Beyonce before. We'll give it a try. There were a few good tracks on here. Not really but style, but I'll give it 3

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis
Jul 31 2026

Jerry Lee Lewis. Okay! Some good ol oldies are great. That's funny that this music was considered hard rock at one point. I'm lovin his voice! So much soul. Like he should be black. I wish I could play the piano like this. Damn he's good! Love this energy.

Music by Madonna
Aug 03 2026

I was never into Madonna. I obviously know who she is and all but I never like, followed her stuff. It's been an alright album. I'm thinking giving it 4 stars.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Aug 04 2026

Unfortunately I had to listen to this kind of passively but I did enjoy it. It had some dark and weird facets to it that grabbed my attention from time to time. I'll give it 4 stars.

Aug 05 2026

UK Indie-rock huh? Okay. Drunken fun house band is how GPT is talking about it. Sweaty eyeball engergy. Apparently the sax is going to be a big aspect to this. Let's check it out. Can't help but to find some simlarity in the voice to that of Jack White. This was okay. 3 stars

Melodrama by Lorde
Aug 06 2026

Hmm, this one has potential. I like the voice. Reminds me of lola young. Oooh this album has been really good. I love the vibe. This was really good. I think I'll be generous and give it 5 stars.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Aug 14 2026

this was alright. I've heard a lot of the songs on here before. The bass line on the chain was pretty bad ass. 3 stars.
