Bossanova
PixiesStarted heavier than I'm used to the Pixies being, but overall still entertaining album. I think others make for a better album if someone needed a where should I start kind of situation
Started heavier than I'm used to the Pixies being, but overall still entertaining album. I think others make for a better album if someone needed a where should I start kind of situation
Alright rock album. I think the cover art might be more iconic than the music itself. The music, for me, could blend in with some other bands without notice.
With a sound like classic American rock, that my brain right away wants me to like and enjoy, nothing actually stands out past the two songs that still get radio play today. And hard pressed, I probably couldn't have said those songs were by The black crowes prior to listening to this album
The songs I had previously already heard are still phenomenal stand outs. The songs that were new to me are alright, not bad, but not special compared to the others. The cover of lovesong was an unexpected good postmodern take.
I already own this album and enjoy Lou Reed's voice /sound. Perfect Day is an all time favorite song. That said, the entire album evokes an atmosphere and mood that takes me away from my day for 36 Minutes.
I've only sporadically liked Radiohead songs. I appreciate their abnormal sound and this album got me in an interesting headspace, but nothing lingers in my head after it's done. For better or worse, everything blurs together for me.
Generally like rolling stones but this album was too much blues influence and I wasn't feeling it at the time. 'You can't always get what you want' is a top stones song for me and great note to end on.
Enjoyed the album overall. Handful of songs I heard before but didn't know where they came from originally. Could clearly hear the influence they gave some of the bands I regularly listen to
Had a childlike dream quality to it. That same quality caused me to loose focus on a lot of the album
Not a genre I regularly listen to, and therefore don't know much of its history. Which means I didn't know prior any historical merit of the album. A lot of the beats felt similar, almost to point of being repeated. Lyrics did nothing for me. Towards the end of the album I think I started to hear some influential qualities
Fun listen. I have a few singles, never listened to a complete album. Enjoyable.
Very chill and relaxing vibes. Not anything I was likely to come across on my own, or remember necessarily going forward, but I enjoyed the time we had.
I always found white stripes sound enjoyable. Some songs hit better than others. This album, which I hadn't previously listened to in its entirety, felt the most together
Fun album from someone I hadn't heard of. Sounded equally from 90's, 00's and 70's.
I've always enjoyed this album. Some of the best oasis songs that have a permanent place in my head.
Enjoyable sound. Created a laid-back, reflective with own thoughts and feelings mood. Twisted didn't quite fit the mold, but was very entertaining breakaway and ending
Started string with singles I've known and heard frequently. Starts getting a little bizarre in a fun way (Mr. Kite), then bizarre in a bit great way. Finished off ok.
Enjoyable easy listening. Not much stuck in my head after one listen, but I wouldn't mind putting on again a few times
Epic release. Multiple genres mixed throughout. Would love to revisit at different pace
I don't know much about jazz, but seemed like a good seamless flow.
Enjoyable sound, with a momentum that doesn't stop until the entire album is over. After only one listen I have time for, no songs stood out on their own
Quintessential early 90's Rock, punk sound from someone I thought I hadn't heard of. This album predates Marcy Playground, but reminded me a lot of Marcy Playground specifically.
Always liked Elliot Smith without really being able to narrow down why. His sound feels stripped and reflective, as if a soundtrack to inner monologues.
Chill, funk, lounge album. Strawberry letter 23 instant ear worm.
Frank's voice can't be denied. It's classic. The jazz was nice and smooth, never overpowering the vocals. Everything was just nice and pleasant, but nothing uniquely stood out
Great punk momentum and fun through most the album. Turn blue went a little too long for me.
Classic rock funk combination with so many hits on one record
Calm indie music. Not a lot stood out during one listen.
Easy listening / indie rock. Some songs had great sound scapes.
Just sounds like a live classic rock album. Nothing negative to say.
Quintessential 80's rock sound. Done alright, just not my vibe
Spotify only had 3 songs of the album. What I heard just reminded me of lion king.
Alright. Other than Mr. Blue sky nothing stood out to me and it will mostly be forgotten
Alright music, nothing stood out to me though
Really good heavy metal. Maybe it just got assigned when that's what I was in the mood for, but had fun with the album
Chill rap album. A few really good and fun. Nice use of PlayStation boot up.
Good sounding live album. Alright rock songs.
Genesis doesn't do anything for me, even a double album
I'm not sure what this was. Started strange and too much, then got good, then got to be going on too long and was annoying, then kept going and back to good. As a whole album I think it works and I enjoy the ride. Nothing stands out individually, and I'm not sure how I would feel about it piece meal.
Staple of teenage years. Great album with a lot of unforgettable songs up front. It always lost steam for me near the end
Not my style, but sounded alright and fun. Nothing in particular stood out. Maybe I was distracted but everything kind of blended together.
Not a big fan of reggae or anything weed related, but this was chill and calming album. Hit well
Softer indie rock. Simpler sound but enjoyed the time.
Alright rock album. I think the cover art might be more iconic than the music itself. The music, for me, could blend in with some other bands without notice.
I was already some what familiar with the streets and very surprised to see an album on this list. In my experience he's a very acquired taste. Loved this album album, start to finish. It told a story, that by the end I was just hanging on to see what happened. I always felt his music itself was on the simpler side of things, but it really gives the vocals and lyrics the chance to shine. The previous albums I knew, I don't recall being a story start to finish, so this concept was unexpected and executed wonderfully.
Jazzy, lounge sound with smooth vocals. Not my favorite music but nothing negative to say. Good easily turn on for any moment to have some background noise
Sounded like a mix of early rock, surf rock, rockabilly. It was okay, felt like the album went a bit long, so I guess that's not my style. Handful of songs I've heard all my life and never knew the artist.
Started off good, had calm reflective feeling to it. Probably would've been better if I hadn't had such a busy day. The birthday song was weird and out of place
Enjoyable, more upbeat music from someone I never heard of
I enjoy this band but feel like they're an acquired taste, and stereo settings need to be on point, if not extra loud (in a car) to hear vocals and different instruments or else it easily goes into just noise. But it a good album
I enjoy ccr's sound and have nothing bad to say about the album. I think there are better songs of theirs out there, but none of these are bad. The whole thing was enjoyable, and despite some longer songs I was still surprised when the album was over.
Lots of funk and interesting sounds going on throughout the album. Felt very different but enjoyable exploration. Superstition is a classic
Music sounded good, but ultimately it was still Christmas music and only want it once and don't really pay attention to it.
Not a fan on country music or twang, but given that it was an alright album. She has a nice voice and it was calm music.
This album reminded me why I don't like red hot chilli peppers. Some songs were good, and memorable hits, but for the most part I was waiting for it to end
It was okay. A few classics, but most easily forgettable to me. Last song I was just waiting to end and hoped it was the last
Enjoyable start to finish. Nothing pulling me to jump back in right away, but seemed good smooth jazz.
Some really good songs that I can never remember are by Depeche Mode, mixed with a lot of others I don't care for and easily forgot.
Just okay. Reminded me of death cab
Classic trip-hop. Chill vibes
Felt kind of experimental, more annoying than anything
Started heavier than I'm used to the Pixies being, but overall still entertaining album. I think others make for a better album if someone needed a where should I start kind of situation
Alright chill rock.
Hey hey, my my and it's inverse are great timeless songs. Everything in between was good, but I won't remember as well... Except maybe Pocahontas.
Alright album, had fun listening till the end. Songs near the end started to go too long
Most of vocals were clear and often humorous. Decent chill beats.
Was not expecting dance album on this list and pleasantly surprised. A remix of muscle car has always been a guilt pleasure since I first heard so again, pleasantly surprised to hear the original and the songs it was originally packaged with. Fun album
Alright indie rock punk. Perfect small rowdy venue sound
Never listened to a Dylan album. Thought his voice was annoying. This album wasn't a bad one to listen to. Glad to hear Maggie's farm. Last track I got bored with
Okay jazz album. After awhile, I felt like it wasn't ending
Felt like a ride through an epic fantasy land
The album is okay here and there. Some good sampling. However, beastie boys have always sounded like a group of friends that are constantly interrupting each other and laughing at themselves. A group of friends that you don't hate to run into, but just weren't really in the mood to see at most moments. A full album didn't change that feeling
Fun synth pop album. No complaints, but no outstanding love
Starts with timeless U2 bangers and then goes into some alright but ultimately forgettable rock, lots of reflection feels (makes sense on an album called Joshua tree). Got a bit bored halfway through. Exit peaked me back briefly. Might just not have been in the mood
Fun fast punk, with understandable lyrics
Powerful, deeply soulful and triumphant singing. Good covers of songs, but once album is over I can't remember which songs they were. They were great, but at same time failed to leave lasting impression. Right on cusp of 5 Star for me.
A lot of instrumental High fantasy rock. Could picture older animation happening during most of the album. Nutrocker was kind of cool, but I can't picture ever being in the mood to listen to the album again
Fun score to a non-existent film. I always enjoy a concept album of that nature. Some things reminded me of "Lost Highway" only to discover this artist did work for that soundtrack. It all makes sense now
Once in a lifetime is great classic. The rest was alright rock, pop mix. Whatever talking heads sound is described as
Upbeat 80's synth pop. Entertaining background but nothing memorable enough to be stuck once album over.
Not any David Bowie I was already familiar with, nothing stuck really well, but it was solid enjoyable listening experience. Not as much experimental stuff going on like some of the mid 2000's albums of his I've listened to
Just fun goofy rock. Some better than others but I can understand how it set the stage for bands that came later that have similar style
Good variety of sounds and pleasant listening experience
Has a voice that commands to be heard, which is refreshing to a live recording. I feel like vocals get muffled a lot. Anyway, enjoyable upbeat (even the romantic song). Sounded like a fun place to be. Can't picture anyone walking out the club upset
Chill laid back instrumental. Sounded great in background to reading. Weird transition towards end of first song, where I thought my streaming service was getting spotty connection.
Powerful voice. Enjoyable listening experience. Two songs stood above and sort of dwarf the others to me.
This album felt like it would never end. Just The longest live show ever, with nothing really happeening. I suppose that's expected from a jam band. Parts with vocals were okay songs, but even those felt like they went on too long. I think the only way I would recognize grateful dead's (or dead & co's) sound is by how long it went on for. If things were around 7 minutes or less I'd probably give it a two star (which to me means it's not bad, it's listenable, just wasn't right, or n this case great, to me. Nothing I'd choose to listen to again, but not mad if someone else put it on, infrequently. However, the wanting things to desperately be over made me grow to loath the album.
Great electric guitar sound. Some amusing lyrics. Classic rock that had my foot moving almost the entire time and constantly wanting to break into air guitar, wether I was zoned out on vocals or not
Fun non stop metal. Lots of air drumming
Some classic Eminem hits on this album. Most unfamiliar songs were really fun and different. "Skits" were hit and miss.
Trumpet jazz. Alright, not particularly fond of so much trumpet but it was played well
Reminded me of a thievery Corp album but a little bit more chaotic.
Nice, truly classic sounding, jazz / lounge vocalist. Amusing hearing her sing through not knowing words, but still working the tone and pitch
Alright ambient electronic. Nothing stood out to me though
Feels like it's supposed to be lyric driven ...rock, pop, alternative... Not sure how to describe it, but most of it just didn't resonate with me.
Good intro to the band and hints at what they would accomplish creatively later. A few of their hits, all of their speed and aggression.
Good Bowie, with lite rock elements. Some classics Bowie hits appear, but they're probably my last favorite of his hits. (Possibly burnout for life on 'changes', and that's hard to overcome)
Nice album to spend a quite hour to myself with. Nice calming, clear voice with music that lets you take it all in and listen to the words and let them sink in. Might be only two songs I can remember by name and want to come back specifically for, but I can see myself listening to more of him (or this specific album again) just to hear his voice and tone again. An impact was left, and it wasn't necessarily because of any of the lyrics.
Hauntingly beautiful. Felt like I should've listened to well after dark. Last track lost the haunting aspect. Still beautiful voice and sound cool, but haunting doesn't apply
Never thought I'd like Coldplay, but the only song I knew for sure that I didn't like was that yellow song (not on this album). After listening to an entire album, this was really enjoyable and a relaxing listen. Wouldn't mind listening to again
Nothing stood out to me about this album. Maybe I didn't give it enough attention, but it also didn't grab at me in any way. Sounded like he was a good musician and singer. The album frequently reminded me of 90's easy listening or contemporary rock. Not sure if this a great album because he originated that sound, or he did it best in some regard, but it just wasn't anything to me.
As mentioned, very much electronic ambient music. Not what I was expecting from the Aphex Twin I did know. Good music to get some things done to, but I don't know how to rate ambient. It success at what it is, but it doesn't stand out much to me. It doesn't beg for this album (or songs) specifically to be relistened to or discussed with others, but none of it was annoying. None of it went on too long
I liked the sound of the vocals. Had a classic rock sound and was enjoyable
Nice voice and piano. Always heard the name but never listened to anything. I knew the opening lines to criminal. Overall it was an enjoyable listen and left a favorable impression of the artist
The album certainly lives up to its title. Seemed like a good intro album to anyone interested in black metal. Aggressive sound, demonic lyrics that were surprisingly understandable and still had an edge to the vocals, in a not overwhelming time span. (The reissue with a 2nd CD of 12" versions, got a little long and boring, but I don't think that's the version considered to be great).
Pleasant singer song writer experience. Calming and reflective
Kind of cool dark pop. Hard for others to stand out alongside running up that hill, but a few do
I like indie stuff but this did nothing for me. Didn't hate it, but nothing really cought me or stood out
Alright indie/ alternative rock. Biggest take away was hearing original song I knew was samples elsewhere but never looked into before (so nothing stood out significantly)
Pleasant instrumental (if words they were in foreign language and just blended with rest of music).nothing stood out except the artists name.
Great easy rock/ listening album
Electronic trance music. Not entirely sure how to rate it. Sounded good, but also nothing stood out to separate it from others things I know. Not even sure if it was good enough to have the artist's name stand out
With a sound like classic American rock, that my brain right away wants me to like and enjoy, nothing actually stands out past the two songs that still get radio play today. And hard pressed, I probably couldn't have said those songs were by The black crowes prior to listening to this album
The album art and the title song are great, undeniable classics, but the rest of of the album doesn't do anything for me. None of the songs match the tone or feel that London calling conjures up. I do kind of like the last song, but by the time the album gets to it I was ready to be done. Also, book end songs that I enjoy don't really save the album.
Enjoyable voice and listening experience
Alright synth pop or new wave (not sure in difference. As the album went on I was getting more and more bored. Unrelated to my vote, not at all what I pictured something titled Steve McQueen to sound like
The audio quality for a live album was surprisingly good. Vocals were remarkably clear. But, it was still just a Motorhead album. I wanted to bang my head and run in circles like a maniac, but I'm not sure I'll ever remember one Motorhead song from another. Except Ace of Spades.
I like in your eyes, and big time was a bit fun. Sledgehammer, which I've heard of previously, did nothing for me. Very 80's sounding rock, pop rock even. Not for me. Other than songs listed above, it's all boring music to me.
Found the album pretty entertaining. Decent flow and solid beats that kept me interested
Funnier than I expected. Overall it was decent beats and flow. Easily distracted, but for the most part it did a good job of keeping my attention
Fun poppy rock album. Was familiar with a few songs already, the ones that were new to me didn't blow me away, but overall enjoyed the listen and the energy
I enjoy his voice, probably because it makes me think of toy story. Only lyrics that stood out was singing about America, and then multiple songs about Ohio.
Kind of mind blown. Never heard of the band, didn't know what to expect. It sounded both vaguely familiar and completely different all at once. Songs used different unique sounds. Vocals felt like they slightly carried between songs. Not a lot of lyrics stuck with me, but all the songs had elements that sounded different from one another (so not sounding like one song blending into another), yet still tied together. I'm looking forward to listening to the album again to let it sink in more; listen for more that I didn't catch on the initial listen.
Was already familiar with this album and really love it. It has some truly great songs on it. There are some songs I usually skip through cause they don't hit as well. Kind of hate there is 'use somebody' and 'be somebody' on the same album. I really like one and not fan of the other, and can never remember which until I give them a listen
Does nothing for me. Just boring music to me. I don't hate it. Don't lose this number is okay, but possibly only because of its familiarity from radio play. Nothing else stood out to me in anyway
Tried to be impartial, but I just don't like the style. Everything just made me think of a sad, quite, sparsely populated bar. Some of the lyrics were entertaining, but again, didn't enjoy the style. Thankfully it was a short album
Ambient electronic that didn't do much of anything for me. Easily forgettable. I know the band name, but not sure why I know it if the rest of their work was anything like this
Starts off with really good beats and sounds. Towards the end it started to loose me, but overall I enjoyed it more than I wanted to
Well I fucked up on this one. The album refered to is relatively short and good jazz. I unknowingly listened to the complete version, which clocked in over 2 hours and had multiple introductions and "that's it folks." The spoken parts were rather annoying to have constantly throughout a live album (pick one introduction, limit endings). I don't feel like going back and listing to the shorter, original album, but I don't think being more condensed will up my rating anyway. Jazz doesn't blow me away or beg me to listen to that particular album again right away (my criteria for higher vote)
Pop or R&B, whatever combination this is considered just doesn't do anything for me. I remember liking 'waterfalls' as a kid, relistening to it didn't hit the same. Heard way more cheesy porn music sound in it, that I don't remember haha. What seemed like lots of repetition of the album title during skits or interludes and I found it a little annoying.
Engaging beat for most of album. Lyrics don't do anything for me. Curious how many songs I heard prior and assumed were snoop solely because he was the singer.
This is the 80's kind of music I like. A couple classics, a few others early on that were new to me and sounded good. 2 songs were really boring though. But overall I enjoy the darker synth wave sound of the album.
Don't outright hate it. But not sure why it is on this list. Did absolutely nothing for me
Perhaps right place right time, but found this album beautiful and relaxing, except for a few random out bursts that happen throughout. But not sure if I could be able to name the album or artist if I ever heard the pieces again
Found this Beastie Boys album less annoying than the last one from this list. Sabotage was always a standout as a song of theirs that I did enjoy. What seemed like lots of instrumentals on this. Some sections even felt like jam band territory, which was unexpected (and not wanted).
Love the offspring. High energy, fun album. Only one song has a slow intro that kind of ruins the flow. I will admit that I'm hindsight, one song can be hard to distinguish from another in a few instances
Surprisingly a bit heavier than I anticipated (based solely on 'smoke on the water') and that's not a complaint. It was alright 70's era rock
A bit twangy but really enjoyable and oddly comforting sound. Reminded me of the intro to an older movie or television show but couldn't place what exactly
Nice calm voice, clear lyrics. Enjoyable time, but only 'julio and me down by the school yard' is the only song I'll remember as Paul Simon
A lot of fun catchy pop music, that despite being about break ups a lot of the time, was pretty fun
Okay Britt rock from early 00"s. Nothing really great, but nothing bad about it
Enjoyable time, even if most songs were about being separated from a woman in one way or another. Had a bit of a timeless feel to them. I hope I can remember the artists name in a week or so
Unmistakable 80's synthwave sound. First few songs each sounded like they incorporated a different genre's influence. Interesting approach, but ultimately I found the album boring
Kind of interesting to have the India influence with the electronic dance music. Not really for me though. Just became interesting background noise, or probably dance floor break song to rest feet and just bang head for a lil bit
I grew up in a doors household, so a little biased. Morrison has a unique voice and I think the band has an early good incorporated use of synth (or something that sounds like synth). Good songs, I think there are better ones, but I don't think I'd turn off any doors album once it started
Sunday bloody Sunday is my favorite u2 song and I could listen to it alone on repeat for awhile. The rest of the album was enjoyable rock and left me with a more favorable opinion of U2 than others albums have.
Goofy, but fun lyrics. Alright rock from the era
Solid entry to numeral genre. Some good metal songs, some forgettable. Wait and bleed is such in my head.
Weird but fun pop music. Some more fun than others. Random thoughts while listening: does Cyndi play harmonica herself? Is this UFO noises? Is she trying to be Betty boop? Is she breaking?
This album had few and far between glimpses of potential, but mostly sounded like random noise to me
Not sure if this was jazz or something more tribal, but it sounded good. Especially for being live. Kind of nice to have description for song titles
The Smiths vibes. Tried to pay attention to lyrics but nothing really stuck as being memorable
Good voice. Nostalgic feel almost throughout. Old man and heart of gold are timeless classics. Would listen to again and try to pay more attention to it, but hard not to skip straight to those two songs and listen on repeat
