Started off strong but then got a little too slow and boring for my taste.

Started off pretty good but then got really weird. About what I would expect from a band that spun off from Talking Heads.
I mean what can I really dislike about this album? Too much rock? Too much sexual innuendo? Ya it's not perfect but it doesn't get much better than this.
It's good. Definitely better than the White Album.

It's amazing how popular some of this band's songs were given how awful the lead singer's voice is. Some weird stuff in here other than the well-known ones.
It's funny how out of place Hey Ya! is amongst the other songs in this double album. Maybe it's just how popular it has gotten since, but it just seems way more poppy than everything else. My Favorite Things was a fun surprise. Also this album is over two hours long!
Smack My Bitch Up is the standout, though I did recognize Breath. After that it falls off though.
Dookie is better. Unfortunately I have to subtract a point for this album containing one of my WOAT songs: Boulevards of Broken Dreams
Definitely better than their other, more experimental album.
Seven Nation Army is a great lead. It's True That We Love One Another is a horrible finish. It really reminds you about how Jack and Meg White intentionally gaslit fans into thinking they were brother and sister when they were actually husband and wife.
Honestly I was expecting something a little more upbeat but this was more mellow and smooth, so not really up my alley. Nothing offensive though at least.
I listened to this album while reading, and I weirdly digged it. Definitely nothing to bop to but lots of chill and good vibe songs.
I was pleasantly surprised with how chill this album was. No real bops but definitely a lot of jams. Does that make sense? To me it does.
Not really for me
Apparently this was the first known rock opera, which would explain why some of it was good and other parts of it were grating noise that I could barely get through (looking at you Well of Destiny). Do they actually think people want to listen to that? And then there's Old Man Going, which made me look at my phone to make sure I didn't somehow jump to a Black Sabbath album. So many songs had promise and then just switched to something weird halfway through. Oh well.
I'm not a big fan of rap but I definitely do like the old school style more.
I liked Streets of Your Town. Everything else was meh.
Easy listening and very enjoyable, as expected for CCR.
A couple bangers and mostly fun poppy-ish rock. I dig it
I had no idea that Janis Joplin was originally part of a different band and that Piece of My Heart is technically by Big Brother & The Holding Company. Anyway, I enjoyed most of the music. Combination of the Two may have been my favorite. All in all pretty solid.
Maybe it's my fault but I was expecting something more... fun? I didn't enjoy much of anything in this album.
Better than some of the other jazz albums I've listened to. Great background music for working.
The idea of a rock opera is interesting, but it just resulted in a lot of random songs on the album, like some that were less than a minute long just to describe something like a plot point. I love The Who as a band and Pinball Wizard is a classic, but this album just lacks good songs to jam out to.
I can't stop picturing Kristin Wiig acting as Björk in that Being Quirky with Zooey Deschanel skit with Abby Elliot. Big Time Sensuality is not bad. Definitely some weird songs though. Not something I would want to listen to again.
Oof, not something I'd want to listen to again. Very mellow and slow and harsh on the ears
She had the opportunity to say croci but chose to say crocuses instead. River trying to cosplay as a Christmas song? This Flight Tonight is pretty good but most everything else is not my cup of tea.
Very bluesy. So much harmonica. I can dig it, but it's pretty slow and Dylan's voice isn't all that lovely.
Wow that's a lot of distorted heavy breathing. This sounds like how Wayne and Chip would sing if the audience shouted out "punk rock" on Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Parts are nice to listen to while working. But then some random voice comes on and sounds like they are hocking a loogie and you wonder what the hell is music anyway? Unfortunately that just ruined it for me
I'm a sucker for poppy rock. The songs definitely start to blend together. But We Got The Beat is such a bop. Couple of weird songs (looking at you Automatic). Skidmarks on My Heart is the unexpected fave.
1. Invaders: I love upbeat metal songs 2. Children of the Damned: I don't like downer metal songs... yes the speed up is so great! 5. Number of the Beast: Pumps me up every time I listen to it 6. Run to the Hills: This song gives me PTSD trying to do the drum part successfully on Rock Band, but it just rocks so hard. 8. Hallowed Be Thy Name: Reminds me of those metal covers of the Undertale soundtrack I love that every song has a sweet guitar solo
1. Born Under Punches: A bit strange and slow 2. Crosseyed and Painless: A little more upbeat 3. The Great Curve: Funky fresh? 4. Once in a Lifetime: Classic 5. Houses in Motion: What is that instrument? 6. Seen and Not Seen: Uh oh, Talking Heads with a talking song 7. Listening Wind: Oh boy this is weird. Are we talking about some important global trader? 8. The Overload: What's the opposite of going out with a bang? Well I knew the Talking Heads were an experimental band, but this album is a little too slow and boring
Why do these guys just sound so... British. Mellow and chill but not too interesting. Last song is Baader Meinhof lol
All of this high pitched singing / instrumentation is quite grating. Oh wait, is there actually one good song on the album? Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp to the rescue! God dammit why are there Looney Tunes sound effects at the end??? And I was this close to bumping up to a 2. I can see why there is an edited version of this song.
Does Elvis Costello sound a lot like Tom Petty? I don't like his voice all that much, but the album was nice enough to listen to. Definitely a vocal-heavy album and not a lot of interesting instrumentation.
Chill, old-timey rock-and-roll. Happy and innocent but not too upbeat. I could see this being some good background music.
Respect is elite. Save Me is pretty good. But the rest sounds like what would be played for the slow songs at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance
Oof don't like this guy's voice. I like some of the instrumentation but it's all maybe a little too heavy for me.
RIP Brian Wilson. Em and I listened to this album a few months ago as it was near the top of a Best Albums of All Time list. I get that it was pioneering at the time, but unfortunately I don't really see the appeal as most of the songs are just so slow and sleepy. But hey at least there were some actual pet sounds at the end.
Gotta dig the prog rock vibes of Yes. This album doesn't have Roundabout, which is one of my all time favorite classic rock tunes, but I still like what the record has to offer. Anyone else still think of Mr. Deeds anytime they hear I've Seen All Good People? Random connection forever lodged in my brain.
It's chill. It's inoffensive. Nothing good or bad to really say about it.
Still Thrives This Love sounds like a Bond movie theme song. Very chill and inoffensive music. It's not gonna pump you up but maybe if I were just trying to relax in the tub or something?
Some of the songs have some nice music but she's not a great singer. Other songs are slow and boring.
Oh my. I laughed out loud at certain points cuz it was just so ridiculous. F.I.A.T. is giving me FF7 soundtrack vibes. A lot of these other songs are just creepy weird.
First thing I noticed was of course no Bruce Dickinson. I guess his vocals really seemed to define Iron Maiden for me and bring their music to the next level. These songs were still fun to rock out to, and it's still crazy to me that this album is from 1980.
Fun and upbeat songs. So many bluesy 1 4 5 progressions. But I thought it was easy listening and worth a replay.
A good example of my gripe with metal. Some of the songs had fun instrumentation but the vocals were annoying as hell (if you can call screaming vocals).
As Em pointed out, the song content is a little strange with rotten peaches and razor face, but it's certainly easy listening.
It's definitely better when they aren't "singing"
Fun, inoffensive, a little weird at times. Honestly I was hoping for better.
I liked the music for the most part, but why does every song have that same noise that sounds like a bird's mating call? I swear I would enjoy these songs more if that wasn't being repeated over and over and over.
Steel Claw is fire. Was not expecting a random Beatles cover.
I don't hate it. It's weirdly pumping me up. Ok never mind, this Waking the Witch song is ruining it for me. So I guess a few songs are good?
Oh man I remember NYE 2000 we had the TV on MTV or something and it was basically playing Ms. Jackson on repeat. Could do without the weird "Interludes". B.O.B. is so good.
California Dreamin' is iconic. Nothing was too much of a bop but I enjoyed the easy listening.
Lol we happened to listen to this album on vinyl on the 4th of July a few days ago. Lauren's parents love The Boss and kept asking for the volume to be turned up. Bruce's singing voice is a bit much for me sometimes, but the music is just incredible.
Was hoping to hear some Lola but not on this album. Definitely more avant-garde, experimental vibes here. Wikipedia calls it a "trend toward an eccentric baroque pop and music hall-influenced style", so... sure. Nothing super interesting but nothing that great either.
Definitely some bangers. Plenty of weird filler though like do we really need Revolution 9? To that point, I feel like this album did not need to be a double album. Did Blackbird always have an annoying clicking happening in one ear throughout the song?
Cars Are Cars is the sleeper hit. Most everything else is just meh
Easy listening overall with a couple of songs I've heard before and enjoy.
Homophobia, domestic violence, and fellatio. DNF
Is there a better intro riff than the one in Money for Nothing? Too bad the second half of the album is so meh
I liked one of the songs but the rest weren't so great
Mellow and kinda weird? I dunno I mostly just tuned it out while working
Funny how the only 2 upbeat songs are the 2 popular ones. Everything else was easy to listen to but not remarkable.
This is mostly just someone (barely) singing a bunch of weird stories over basic guitar rhythms. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong wins worst song by far.
Some toe tappers, some blah. No real bops.
RIP Ozzy. Some great classics in here. Loved the unexpected drum solo in Jack the Stripper / Fairies Wear Boots.
Inoffensive but I'm not much of a country music or country-like music fan
Started off strong but then got a little too slow and boring for my taste.
Wow this is vastly different from Born to Run. It's putting me to sleep.
I'm not a big fan of rap / hip-hop but I like the old-school feel of this album. Not something I'd seek out to listen to again because it's not my style, but it's definitely one of the better rap albums I've heard.
Trick or treat baby. This was not pleasant to listen to.
First song or two sound like the music you would hear at an outdoor restaurant on a Friday evening. Then it just gets... weird and unpleasant. And his voice is not good.
In Your Eyes is soooo good. Everything else was pretty meh though.
I think Welcome to Paradise is my favorite Green Day song. And this album has so many other bangers. It ends on a slow and strange note but otherwise it's pure music to my ears
A few good guitar solos but the guy's voice is hard to listen to
Do we really need the Voices of Old People track?? Mrs Robinson is a classic but I'm not sure it was ever really that good anyway.
Some of the tracks are not bad if you just want some background music. But overall pretty meh.
Opening track is the unfortunately prevalent avant-garde weirdness. A couple of actual songs also get a bit weird. Otherwise, pleasant to listen to.
Can this even be considered music? He's just talking over some sounds, and boy is his voice is grating.
Definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I kinda dig the "rap rock" vibes. Scooby Snacks was one I've heard before and it's great.
Never heard Tears Dry On Their Own before and it's a bop! Rehab is a classic. Everything else was pretty good.
Oh no country music ahhhhhhh
Weird but not too weird. I think I liked that 10+ minute song the best.
Honestly I was hoping for more rock & roll but the album was pretty subdued.
This album feels like it's trying to do way too many different musical styles and they all suck.
It was just too noisy. I had to turn it off. DNF.
Almost too screamy but most of the songs were pretty enjoyable. I strangely like the lyricless last song and wish they had expanded on it.
Some good songs in there. Still love the 7/4 time of Spoonman. No real bops though.
She's got a great voice. It was pretty funny that she forgot some lyrics and they just kept that in the album. I could see this being nice to listen to just to chill.
Don't You Want Me was a surprise! Definitely their most poppy and boppy song, so I'm not surprised it's their biggest hit. Everything else is pretty meh.
Definitely some jams in this one but also plenty of filler.
Country + boring = no thank you
Feels like the album that would be playing in the background of a 70s reefer session. And TIL that it's Voodoo Chile and not Voodoo Child.
Roundabout is elite. Everything else is pretty meh though unfortunately.
Very chill vibes but I dig the music.
A lot of talk of making love. Miles better than his other album.
Very chill with some interesting 8-bit vibes in a few of those songs. This is definitely baby-making music, so the style isn't exactly what I look for.
So much better than the White Album. Not sure why they have A Day in the Life as the last song after the Reprise, but if that's the weirdest thing about the album then I won't complain.
I still remember leaving MTV or something similar on at a sleepover and watching the Take Me Out music video about 20 times as it re-aired like clockwork. The rest of this album is pretty good. Thankfully no weird experimental stuff.
Wow nonstop bops and no filler. Love the energy and the surprise hits.
I mean it wasn't all that unpleasant to listen to but it sure was weird. Felt like I was in an enchanted forest being serenaded by wood nymphs.
Gotta love The Doors. Not sure why we needed to hear about it being the 10th attempt of Riders on the Storm, but the rule is that every album has to have something weird on it.
That first song Green Light was such a bop and got my hopes up high, but everything after it was pretty mellow and/or whiny. Oh well.
I always thought Breaking the Law was just ok. Living After Midnight is great though. A few other songs are nice to jam to and a few others are definitely meh like Red, White, and Blue.
Oof I do not like the rapidly swapping stereo sound in This Song; had to skip it. I think a few songs were tolerable but overall there was just too much bleh to wade through.
I sang a version of Scarborough Fair in a high school quartet. That being said, the songs here are what you expect but are not something I would listen to regularly.
His voice still bugs me the slightest bit, but I guess that's just his style. Overall there wasn't anything weird on the album but there also wasn't anything great.
It was certainly nice background music for while I was working.
Shining Star instantly reminded me of that scene in Austin Powers. Everything else was just so 70s and I was there for it.
There She Goes was a surprise. Overall pretty decent.
Gotta love some Zep. Lots of banger but it does drag on toward the end unfortunately.
Country noooooooo. 1/5
I mean the whole thing is pretty fire. Do It Again, Dirty Work, and Reelin' In The Years are on this album and the rest of it is pretty solid too.
I love how they knew Layla was gonna become legendary and named the album the way they did. I also liked Why Does Love Got to Be So Bad? Most everything else was decent.
I mean it's fire. It's got pretty much her only danceable song with Shake It Off, but the rest is good too. Overall it's definitely better than her most recent album. I miss the poppier stuff.
I got excited to see a Beyoncé album but there were 0 bops. Not for me unfortunately.
Psychokiller is a classic, but it's definitely still pretty weird. Everything else is easy listening though. Overall not bad.
That was fun! Live albums are certainly their own kind of album, but they give a more interactive vibe which is nice. I liked most of the songs and The Boys Are Back in Town is a classic.
Even Flow is such a jam. One or two dud songs but otherwise this type of music is really up my alley.
I'm sure this was great at the time but it's just not the sound for me. I did not manage to finish.
Started off pretty good but then got really weird. About what I would expect from a band that spun off from Talking Heads.
What a strange mix of music. Some of the songs are alright but there were definitely some duds and more noisy ones.
None of it was nice to listen to unfortunately.
Led Zeppelin always great. Crazy that this debut album came out in 1969 and still rocked this hard.
Honestly I kinda dig it. A little weird but not too weird. Pretty good working music.
Not my jam. Just a man strumming his acoustic guitar.
Nothing offensive about it but it wasn't for me.
Hoo boy that was a slog. Just such. Slow. Music. And I guess I don't like his voice that much.
> In 2015, the album was ranked number 2 on Rolling Stone's list of the "50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time" Seriously?
The music and this album cover clearly ushered in the 90s aesthetic. Honestly, I kinda enjoyed the music.
It was alright. Songs ranged from slow to fast. Mostly just background noise while I worked.
Some pretty weird stuff.
This type of music is not for me.
I mean Coldplay is pretty good in general, but this album was pretty slow and meh. Not exactly something I want to listen to very often.
Overall I'm a fan. Some classics like American Girl and Break Down, and the rest was solid.
That song with the manic laughing was pretty unsettling. Everything else was good though.
Honestly I didn't hate it. I don't like heavier rock all that much, and this album certainly leaned toward that, but having a good singer that isn't just screaming really makes a difference. I think The Skank Heads was my favorite.
Holy 1-4-5 Batman! Ya that's definitely a bluesy album. That first one was pretty repetitive. I think the rest weren't too bad.
It's got quite the variety of music. The Prophet's Song is quite weird, but I guess so is Bohemian Rhapsody and that has really grown on me. The rest is pretty good with some nice guitar shredding mixed in.
Some of it felt like angsty emo-esque rock. Nothing was all that nice to listen to.
Ok ok we get it. You can play the harmonica. I guess I don't really like that instrument. It was really starting to annoy me.
Since it's a rule for every album for some reason, we've got the weird track of We're Not Supposed To. Everything else is alright though.
Most of these songs are fire, and one of them is "Fire". I definitely like this better than Electric Ladyland, maybe because it has a more approachable and "mainstream" vibe and structure in its songs? Great album though.
I mean what can I really dislike about this album? Too much rock? Too much sexual innuendo? Ya it's not perfect but it doesn't get much better than this.
It's not too bad. Almost an angsty punk vibe which sounds about right for early alternative rock.
Definitely some weird stuff, as expected from Beck. I had to skip Novacane because it was making my brain hurt. Why why why do we need Computer Rock?
About what I'd expect. Would certainly work as some party background music.
I mean it's just jam after jam. The spoken word tracks are whatever and unfortunately ruin the flow a bit, but every song is great.
There were times that I thought I was listening to Tears for Fears. Unfortunately just not as good though. But it wasn't too bad either.
He sounds very similar to the singer from Yes. Pleasant to listen to but no jams or anything.
Definitely better than Here Come The Warm Jets. I feel like this one had actual music on it.
"Some Girls Are Bigger than Others". Oh you don't say...
It's good. Definitely better than the White Album.
It's a lot of Metallica. In general I'm not that fond of this type of metal.
Honestly there were some great jams in there. Mighty Long Way was probably my favorite and one that I'll be adding to regular rotation. There was one song that was little too reggae for me, and a few other weird ones, but otherwise I liked it.
I mean it's honestly hard to find anything bad to say. Tons of well known hits, including Moving in Stereo and its connection to that iconic Fast Times scene. Loved it.
Ya that was weird. Talking Heads-esque.
The overtly sexual nature of every song was pretty funny. The general sound of every song did start to get repetitive.
Honestly it was pretty forgettable, but I guess that means it wasn't actively annoying to listen to like some other albums.
Why do you hate my ears???
Not too great and not too bad all around. Mr. Blue Sky is a fun one.
Pretty chill vibes and easy listening.
It was pretty weird and unpleasant to listen to overall.
I mean what can I really say that hasn't already been said? This album has some of the best classic rock songs of all time. Both Black Dog and Rock and Roll are great jams, while Stairway to Heaven always gives me tingles. And the rest of the songs round everything out beautifully.
Ya it's pretty chill music but not my vibe.
Yikes that was not very pleasant to listen to.
Started off pretty meh and a little too country, but Louie Louie and Carol were both bangers.
It's seminal for sure, but it's just not that interesting to be honest. There's a reason none of the songs from this album are popular.
The piano during Aladdin Sane sounded like my toddler got ahold of the keyboard again. Nothing was very good on this album but it wasn't actively bad (other than the aforementioned noise).
This sounds like someone's attempt to make awful music in as many different styles as possible.
I mean that definitely sounds like early punk rock. Not the most pleasant to listen to of course.
Most of the songs were meh. I guess a few were actually a little enjoyable.
I dunno, I guess it wasn't that bad. I recognized one song, though I never thought it was a very good song. And there was definitely some weird stuff in there. Ok so maybe it was kinda bad.
Felt like an African-style jam band. That last song with the discordant organ was kinda off putting though.
A little too whiny for me.
I really don't understand the appeal of putting minutes of dead air in the middle of your song. Who gets to that point and goes "ah thank you, I needed an intermission from this song". Was gonna rate this a 2 just based on the sad, boring, and whiny music itself, but I guess the "addition" of random pure silence gives me a good reason to go all the way to a 1.
Most Christmas music is kinda meh, but this is certainly above average all things considered. I'd listen to it again around holiday time.
Not too shabby. Generally pleasant to listen to and a few songs that I recognized.
Ya that's some mellow jazz. Nothing offensive and nothing too boppy.
Rats in the Cellar rocked. Back in the Saddle is always good. Everything else filled out the album nicely.
Clint Eastwood was on Nick's Mix 1 and it hits with so much nostalgia. The rest of the songs were pretty good too. Punk came out of nowhere with its, well, punk vibes. I had to check that the album didn't finish and songs were going rogue. I dug it all though.
Music was both pleasant and depressing. I feel like you gotta be in a pretty moody mood to enjoy this. But it also works just fine as music to listen to while working. On Hold was my favorite.
I only knew one song from The Vines, and it was Get Free, so I was expecting a lot of that type of music. It's funny how that song is so much different from the rest of the album. Kinda wish it was more like it.
I can't not like Rush, though this album is certainly a little more avant-garde. Still nice to listen to.
It's pretty damn good. I know Highway to Hell is the classic song, but Beating Around the Bush might be my favorite. I think the back half isn't quite as good as the front half, but this album is top tier.
An Ocean in between the Waves was a sleeper hit. Everything else was pretty forgettable.
Pretty boring IMO.
"Oh hey finally a good song on this album." *Checks phone* "Oh it's just playing similar music now."
It's not Thriller, but it's still great. 4/5
The music was pretty decent but the entertainment value of the album itself bumps this up a notch.
So moody. I'll guess I can point to this album for anyone that is going through a bad breakup?
Fun. Most of the songs sounded the same. Nothing too special.
That Dave Matthew's cameo surprised me. Overall, I'm just not a fan of this kind of music unfortunately.
Well this is definitely better than both The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and Blonde On Blonde. Still not that much better though.
Better than the other ones. Still had plenty of meh stuff though.
Good lord this music is so boring. If this is supposed to put me to sleep, it's working. Toward the end it was getting actively annoying to listen to though. Barely not a DNF.
I mean there were glimpses of something enjoyable, but a lot of it felt a bit too noisy and angsty for me.
I was pretty meh on this album until Chicago came on and I got a wave of nostalgia for a song I didn't know I knew. Unfortunately the rest is just not enough, or really it was too much because this is a long album.
Feio was especially unpleasant. This album was such a slog to get through. I definitely expected something much better from the creator of cool jazz.
The music wasn't bad. The Chinese Restaurant skit was very weird.
Just not pleasant to listen to unfortunately. Very noisy.
Definitely reminds me of The Ramones. After not long, the songs started to all sound the same though.
Apparently the original release of this album was just 6 songs and 23 minutes long. That sounds like a much better format. It's an interesting vibe but just barely too noisy to be worth listening to again.
I was waiting for this one to come up! My dad introduced me to this album and it's been a staple for me when I listen to long-form music. Peace Frog / Blue Sunday has got to be my favorite.
First album on here that I actually owned! The nostalgia hits way too hard with this one. "In the End" and "Crawling" were both on the original Nick's Mix, so I've probably listened to them 100s of times. "Papercut" and "One Step Closer" are also classics. The rest fills out the album nicely. It's not a perfect set, but angsty teenage me can't give this anything less than a 5.
Way better than Bitches Brew. This music was actually chill and nice to listen to. Nothing extraordinary about it though.
Oh man that album made me anxious. The beat was just too fast and frenetic the whole time I guess? I need a break.
I've never listened to this album in full and yet I recognize most of these songs. That tells you a lot. This album is great. Every song is a banger.
If only Kanye West wasn't an awful human being. I guess I'll separate the art from the artist on this one. Honestly I did not think I'd enjoy this album as much as I did. First of all, I was surprised at how many songs I recognized. Other than that, Monster was pretty entertaining even if a bit crass. Could've done without the long interlude with Chris Rock complimenting a lady's sexual prowess. I also enjoyed Lost in the World with Bon Iver. So many featured artists. Kanye why did you have to go off the deep end? 4/5
That was pretty depressing to listen to even while viewing the rainy day outside my window.
Fistful of Love was fun but everything else was pretty darn bad.
So angsty but I don't care. I enjoyed most of the music.
It was alright. Nothing that great or bad about it.
Two albums from The Doors in two weeks? Love it. Not as good as Morrison Hotel IMO, but it's still got Break on Through and Light My Fire. The End is hilariously long but at least they made it the last song.
Much better than the White Album! Pretty good songs all around. I'm always surprised by how many Beatles songs I _don't_ know.
I'm triggered from missing a Billie Holiday question at pub trivia last week. Music is pretty slow. Can definitely picture it at an old-timey night club.
Felt like I was listening to a lot of different genres.
Even weirder than I expected. Probably need to be tripping on acid or something to really appreciate this album.
Live albums are always pretty fun because you get to experience a bit more of the band's personality. You can't go wrong with The Who, so the music was great. But you do have to be ready to go for a ride.
Pleasant. I love You Can Call Me Al.
Ah it's the Arctic Monkeys singer I'm hearing. Never heard of this band and didn't know they were considered a supergroup. I dig it.
First thought: Is this just Kiss? Jet Boy! Wow didn't expect to hear a familiar song on this album but this was a nice surprise to finish on. Overall I enjoyed the music and vibes.
I almost had to shut it off at Stuka as its mashed up noises assaulted my ears. And then the next song Medication saved me when it was actually bearable. That reprieve was the only bright spot in this mess though.
Boring but pleasant?
Sorry Mr. Nelson, but I just don't like country.
Could've done without some of the screaming songs like Tales Of A Scorched Earth, but Jellybelly was a surprise hit for me. I do think these double albums are a bit much to sit through but the music was good.
Tom Sawyer is one of the GOAT songs. YYZ is one of the GOAT songs. This album is pure fire.
I was never that big of a fan of Jack White. I like rock music in most forms, so this is still definitely listen-able, but it's just not gonna be better than good.
Def some good stuff on here, but this album definitely feels a bit more subdued compared to their other stuff. Still a nice listen.
I don't know why but I have just always loved Head Over Heels. Could've done without "Listen" and its repetitiveness. So some great songs but also some duds.
Ok well that was a lovely beginning. This album sounds like something a 12-year old thought was funny. Some of the rapping is good but it's just few and far between all the unpleasant doctor skits.
The songs were just.. boring? I was certainly not in the right mood for this, and I can see why this type of music might be called baby-making music. But I still probably wouldn't put it on in a romantic setting considering how cheesy it would be. At least the album was short!
I'm sure this was some seminal punk rock album or something, but it wasn't very nice to listen to. There were a few parts of a few songs that showed some promise, but that's about it.
Better than the other country we've had on this list. Still not really a fan of the genre though. Sorry Dolly.
It's Bowie so it's gonna be weird. I do like Suffragette City though. Feels like the exception to the weirdness.
It was certainly a unique mix of songs. I didn't hate it but it also wasn't very memorable.
Was hoping there would be something on this album I recognized but alas. Michael Jackson was probably the only one I actively liked. Everything else was pretty much what I expected and kinda meh. 2/5
The titular song is such a classic. Everything else is about what I expected. Mostly mellow and chill rock music.
Well clearly this was a forgettable album because I don't really remember much of it. I remember Warszawa being very weird and not pleasant to listen to.
Pleasant to listen to. No bops though.
Sigh, why do I need to spend an hour listening to this? It's not absolutely horrible, but it did start getting actively annoying to listen to toward the end.
Not gonna sugar coat it, this album was much worse than I expected. Sympathy for the Devil was never my favorite song, but I've heard it enough times that I enjoy it now. Sadly that was about all I enjoyed. Everything else was just sort of average. The Rolling Stones have many much better songs.
The music was fun. Not something I would listen to all the time but it was great background music while working and Saca Tu Mujer was stuck in my head all day.
I'd say better than the last one but still not as good as I want it to be. Maybe a little too honky-tonky.
Saw The Cure and was excited for some good music. Listened to the album and hated my life. Cheer up guys!
Ya this was weird. Several of the songs on the album aren't even available on Apple Music for whatever reason. All I remember about this album is the surprising mention of butt-fucking, which... ok.
I like it at first, but it wasn't as great toward the end. Not bad though.
A little noisy but I actually bopped to a few songs so can't call it bad by any means.
Ya it's some pretty decent classic rock, but it's nothing to write home about I'd say.
I don't generally enjoy rap, so this album probably has a lower ceiling than other genres, but it wasn't bad. No weird skit interludes and no overtly and unnecessarily sexual-assault-like vibes.
Some fun non-English-language music.
Detroit Rock City is a jam. Everything else was pretty average as far as classic rock goes but that still makes it above average among all the music on this list.
More country. But not awful country. Though now all I can remember about this album is how proud the dude is that he has long fingernails.
Some of the songs were good, but I just can't enjoy an album with weird skits in it where people are getting shot.
Could have done without Mother's Lament. I like the genre but was hoping for some more jams like Crossroads rather than slower stuff like Sunshine of Your Love.
I don't know why but Orange Crush always gives me the feel goods. Everything else was pretty good. I prefer a little more oomph in my rock music, but this is definitely an above average album.
Apparently I do not like Lou Reed. To add insult to injury, I have to listen to a song with babies crying. This album was barely bearable.
Man I really wanted to love this album more but it honestly had a lot of duds. Somebody to Love has been stuck in my head all day but I wish we had more bangers! The best songs are by far the ones where Grace Slick is the only one singing. LET GRACE SLICK COOK. P.S. never forget that this band spun off Starship which created the song We Built This City.
I guess I just don't find most of R.E.M.'s music that compelling. Not an active dislike but definitely not a rousing enjoyment from me.
I didn't realize until a couple songs that I had finished the album and some other jazz was playing. I guess that tells you what kind of ear I have for jazz.
I actually enjoyed the chill beats. What I did not enjoy was the weird repeated talking throughout a few of the songs. Other than that, I liked the album.
The Private Psychedelic Reel had some fun drum lines. Block Rockin' Beats was one I'd heard before. Everything else wasn't too bad.
Not really for me. Too depressing.
Some decent songs in there. I like the genre so that certainly bumps things up.
Was that last song supposed to just be a bunch of fart noises? Give up the Funk was a fun surprise. But now I don't know where I even know that song from. Anyway, I dig the funky vibes for the most part.
Not a fan of Mother. Everything else was good. I don't remember where I've heard Synchronicity II before, but that was a fun throwback.
What a weird amalgamation of different genres in one album. That one song had the repeated random line about mashed potatoes, which reminded me of that Destroy Rock & Roll album. I dunno, it's just kinda hard to get into music from an album when it keeps changing so drastically.
Well that was long. I guess some of the songs would certainly be good to listen to while just trying to chill out and do something else. But not all of them, which kinda ruins the album.
I saw what was next up and just smiled. This album is unparalleled in its legacy. Quite possibly the album I've listened to more than any other, and not always while sober if you know what I mean. Allow me to just gush for the next many paragraphs. It starts with Speak To Me, truly one of the weirder ways to start an album. It's strange and off-putting, but it's short and that's the key. A quick amuse-bouche for the impending sensory feast. And a reminder that well-defined song boundaries are just a suggestion. I fondly remember my mom or dad popping in the CD in the car and playing On The Run for us kids. Was it entertaining because it was surreal or because it was funny that it wasn't conventional music? I dunno, but I later heard it at a laser light show with my dad, and it might've been a little too much for my kid-sized brain. Then the "beat drop" in Time is just so epic. The entire album intro has basically been building up to that first time actual lyrics are sung and rock instruments are played. You can't help but get into it, and it always gives me chills. The vocals in The Great Gig In The Sky. So eerie yet beautiful. Definitely feels like the peak trippiness of the album. And once the dust settles, you get Money, one of the all time classic songs of the 70s. On the surface it sounds like the most mainstream song of the album, and that's probably why it's the most famous song off the album. But then you realize it's mostly in 7/4 time, and it has an epic saxophone solo, which is just an intro to the following guitar solo. Despite its popularity, Us And Them might be my least favorite song on the album. Still good, but just not great for some reason. Any Colour You Like just kills it with that funky, ineffable sound. I had to look it up just now and I can't even try to explain the techniques used without just quoting Wikipedia. The dawn starts to break with Brain Damage. We're almost done with the crazy ride and there's even some hysterical laughing that appears to convey the same satisfied relief of the listener. And then finally Eclipse. The perfect finish. I love how every song has its place and fits so perfectly into this full album. Even the ones that seem like filler are memorable. Put together, it truly flows perfectly and ends without going on for too long. I truly believe you only don't like The Dark Side Of The Moon because you haven't listened to it enough times. End gushing.
Ya it's pretty good. I liked Mr. Spaceman the best. Pretty folksy and unoffensive rock and roll.
It's light. It's fun. Not much to write home about.
I'm a sucker for ABBA. In my friend's basement "billiards room", there was a pool table and a CD player. The first time we played, ABBA Greatest Hits was in there, and we just never changed the CD. So that was all we ever listened to while playing pool. Obviously this wasn't the greatest hits album, but it had some of the classic bangers. The filler wasn't to bad though I wouldn't open with a song called When I Kissed the Teacher, no matter how innocent it might intend to be.
Not my kind of music. Though that pussy song was pretty funny.
Def got some Tacocat vibes from some of these songs like The Noise of Carpet, which I liked. Unfortunately a lot of the album was quite different vibes. The few gems bump up the rating though.
Jesus was this recorded on a potato? What is this awful noise at the end of the first song? Cool and now song #2 is just someone telling a weird-ass story. Oh great the last song is 20 minutes of noise. No thank you.
Ya not bad honestly. Some songs were weird but some were pretty listenable.
The Beastie Boys have some serious angsty teenage white boy energy, but hey I was one of those once. I definitely recognized more songs on here than I'd like to admit. "Girls" is one of those I haven't heard in ages. I remember being in the car with my childhood best friend on our way to a dual-family weekend trip to the beach when "Brass Monkey" came on and we lost our shit we thought it was so funny. God, does this mean I'm compelled to admit I liked the album and it deserves a good rating???
Eh, not all that interesting. This former Beach Boy did not provide Fun Fun Fun.
Uhh what's wrong with this guy's voice. I wanted to toss my headphones out while listening to "All Stripped Down". Annnnd I'm calling it quits at "In The Colosseum". DNF
"Ray of Light" the song is an absolute jam. Every other song on this album puts me to sleep.
I guess I'd sum up this album in one word: Forgettable. All of his songs sound the same I guess? I honestly couldn't tell one when ended and another began. The whole album just finished so abruptly. So at least it was short. Nothing offensive though.
Better than I thought it would be! Most of the songs were fun.
I mean ya those were some Selected Ambient Works. Feels more like background music to a video game.
Wow I've heard "The Man Who Sold the World" so many times on the radio and I never knew it was a cover of a David Bowie song. In fact so many of these were played on the radio back in the day. Cobain's really got a hauntingly beautiful voice.
Gotta love Santana. Mother's Daughter was the instant hit for me.
Why are all the Radiohead albums so... unpleasant? "Idioteque" made me want to tear my hair out. The rest was no better. This was actively annoying to listen to.
One of those where the songs I knew seemed to be far and away the best ones. Everyone else wasn't too bad.
Not my favorite kind of music cuz it's just so subdued and a little emo.
Fun fact: Steely Dan is my dad's favorite band. And ya what's not to like? They're not _amazing_ but I like their music.
