I'm gonna have to go deeper on this one before I can really figure out what I think of it. For now, I dig it, it's the sound of my 1970s childhood, it chills me out, it meanders, it ends and I listen to it again and I keep doing that but it hasn't made a firm impression yet.
An average stevie album is still better than most other albums
Stevie Wonder is always good.
Monday, 27 October, 2026 Great record. I forgot how good the second half is.
Probably didn't give this the time it deserved first time round. Enjoyable but it'll need another go. 2 on first listen. May reassess.

Got to spin our album two days in a row #rare
Beautiful love songs Too Shy to Say PLUS great funky songs Boogie on Reggae Woman and You Haven’t Done Nothing.
Not my favorite. Makes an attempt at something, not sure if the attempt was successful
Listen, we’re all thinking it: Stevie Wonder sucks. Yes, it is widely uncontested that multi platinum artist Stevie Wonder blows. This album won the Grammy for Album of the Year, which begs the question, what was it up against? A soundtrack of sick cats? Elementary schoolers playing recorder? 0 stars.
Fulfillingness’ First Finale, frankly, falls flat.
Very mellow and chill. A solid 6/10
It's Stevie Wonder. He's a soul and R&B genius. The problem is that his reputation gets there before the music does. You already know it's going to be good, so he loses the opportunity to surprise you with just how good he is. You brace for impact, and he delivers in spades. That said, his tendency to slur and hum his way through lyrics sometimes leaves me struggling to catch what he's actually saying. "Boogie On Reggae Woman" was the low point for me. Once Stevie hits the chorus, he seems more interested in gliding over the words than singing them distinctly, and I found myself fighting to understand the lyrics. My rating: 3/5
I don't mind Stevie, but this one was just boring for me. It's not bad, it just wasn't amazing.

i'm starting to gather through this challenge that maybe i'm not the biggest Soul fan... i do really love Songs In the Key of Life though, but to be honest, who doesn't? this album on the other hand idk it was fine to me but i didn't really feel like it was anything too crazy. my favorite track on first listen was probably "Bird of Beauty"? "They Won't Go When I Go" also felt a little emotional and was probably the saddest song
Phonky stuff.
Never listened to this one, but similar to the Songs in the Key of Life, i feel like the upbeat songs are still classics and sound great, but his slower piano ballads feel super dated, and i struggle through them. This one has more of the latter, which is probably while it doesn't feel as good as Songs in the Key of Life.
I think we can all agree that this man knows how to make great music. Even if its not for everyone. This album has it all. Groovy, spiritual, danceable, slow, cheery, introspective, etc.
I'll listen to it more. I think it can become a really beloved album of mine.
Wonderful album, great songs, classic
After listening once I liked two or three songs. After a second listen, I liked a couple more. I think this one will grow on me. An overall good listen.

Instant 5. So so so smooth, my god
It’s Stevie - not an album I was familiar with but enjoyed what I heard
I like Stevie Wonder alot, this album didn't grab me as much as some of his other albums.
solid, not necessarily my genre but i still vibed, 3/5
I like Stevie Wonder however this album was slow and boring. Why was this one chosen seriously?
Stevie is undeniably great, and half the tacks here are good, but this album tipped a bit schmaltzy for me.

Ever had a stressful day and you put an angry album on? Don’t do that. Put on this one instead.
Stevie is a gem and his music is fabulous. His voice is really beautiful, soulful and heartwarming. It is just him with some beautiful melodies accompanying a super talented man.
This might not be my favorite album by Stevie, but damn, he just brings the silky smooth beauty every time. Love his voice and piano playing, and the song compositions are so cool and jazzy.
Boogie On Reggae Woman - хітяра.
I love Stevie Wonder but I don't know all his work that well, so it was great to focus on tracks like Creepin (the chord progressions!) and Bird of Beauty that were lesser known to me.
Boring and depressing. Come on Steve!
7.5/10
It does not need to be said that Stevie Wonder is a musical genius. He reminds me of Jacob Collier in how he seems to have been bestowed with a gift of musicality. I'm happy to hear any of his albums, although I would put this one a tier below Innervisions and SIKOL, similar to the last album we got from him. I always appreciate his fascination with the clavichord and similar sounds that go clicky clack (I.e., use a lot of rhythmic ghost notes). The music was solid throughout, and the Brazilian-inspired song near the end was a nice addition.
Definitely happy to see this one pop up! Not sure it's *quite* at the level of some of his other early/mid-70s albums, so I think this one is a high 4 for me, rather than a 5. 'Boogie On' and 'You Haven't Done' are awesome, of course, and the 1st track is very good, but several of the remaining tracks seemed a bit ok/good, but not great/ super memorable, in spite of an impressive coterie of supporting artists (including James Jamerson, Minnie Riperton, the Jackson Five, and The Persuasions). So, yeah, solid (leaning to high) 4 for me. What an amazing run of musical greatness Stevie Wonder produced between 1971 and 1976!
This is the kind of music that could make me think I was born at the wrong time. It's groovy, it's soulful, it's effortless and free. And it's not even one of SW's best albums. They're mostly four star songs; it's hard to pick a five star standout. I think the weakness is that they're too drawn-out, too slow, too many ballads. But that also means it's a chilled, relaxing listen. Am I holding it to a higher standard because it's Stevie? Maybe. If it was from anyone else it might be 5 stars. High four anyway
Pleasant but doesn't do a ton to distinguish itself, besides having one of the most wilfully dreadful album titles I've seen so far. It's more fun when it's funky and finds a bit of energy; I'm not so keen on the sentimental slow stuff. The second half is better than the first for me. Of the two Stevie Wonder albums rolled so far, Talking Book is stronger.
Hadn’t heard this one and didn’t know any of the songs. No known singles (in the UK at least I don’t think). Sounded OK but nothing spectacular. More like an album of B sides I thought.
I have come to the conclusion that whilst I absolutely love a few Stevie Wonder songs I don’t think I love any of his albums. There were a few okay songs on this one but nothing I would go out of my way to listen to again
I think the list is making me realise I don’t actually like Stevie Wonder as much as I thought I did, and instead I actually just like Songs in the Key of Life for very specific reasons of nostalgia.
The sauce
This may be Stevie Wonder’s lowest rated album on the site, but at the end of the day, it’s still a Stevie Wonder album, and this guy simply does not miss. The most unfortunate part of this album is that it’s sandwiched between what may just be the 2 best Soul albums ever made. While both of those albums have copious amounts of hits that most people would recognize, Fulfillingness' First Finale is severely lacking in the recognizability department. However, as previously stated, it’s still Stevie Wonder, and I’m still going to give it a 4. It’s catchy, it’s soulful, and every song is still a banger that had me singing along every step of the way. My vote for favorite song came down to “Please Don’t Go” and “You Haven't Done Nothin'”, with the ladder taking the crown. Both songs are great, but the beat on “You Haven't Done Nothin'” is simply more ear wormy, as is the general progression of the song. It’s really good. Even at his most average, Stevie Wonder produces incredible music, it’s no wonder he’s so beloved by everyone. Loved listening to this album for the entire day. It’s an easy 4 from me. This is my second of 4 Stevie Wonder albums I’ve rolled for this project so far, following the 5 star album Innervisions. 2 albums left, and you know I’m going to rate both of them very highly as well. This one might not have many traditional hits, but it’s certainly got all bangers. And they’re really, really good. I could always listen to his music, I sincerely believe he never had a miss in his career. It’s fascinating that this has an above average rating on the site, but none of these songs are in his Top 10 on Spotify. It just further speaks to his greatness, and how consistently he put out good music. Every song is a masterpiece. If this was his only album on the site, which obviously it wouldn’t be, I would probably give it a 5. But I know he can do even better, which is why it’s getting a 4. Ok, enough gushing about Stevie Wonder for now. You already know how good he is, I’m just expressing myself as a big fan of his, and I love listening to his music, especially if it’s something like this that I haven’t heard most of before.
- Probably being a bit harsh here, but some of these tracks feels like an impression of a Stevie Wonder song rather than the dude himself. While I often handle certain aspects of his work (the keyboards, the harmonica) with zero issue on his best work, they do make him seem dated on these particularly interchangeable songs. - "Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away" is beautiful and emotionally resonant. Not a fan of the baroque "They Won't Go When I Go." - The start to "Creepin'" sounds like the theme to a world in Super Mario 64. I will not be taking questions.
Ive never been huge on Stevie Wonder or soul and this album dindt change my mind. Its sounds good and his voice is really nice but its just so boring to me. When it comes to softer more comforting music I greatly prefer folk. But thats just me. Its a good album. Its not for me though.
stevie goatnder.
Just a solid album. I think it’s outperformed in some aspects by other later albums, but in other respects I found it more consistently enjoyable.
Stevie the GOAT taking swings at Nixon. Dude never misses. How was he able to make a zillion albums and they're all great???

This kind if synth groove album is not my thing, it being the stuff that bored me in my parents car or at the dentist hasn't left me. Because it's Stevie, it's beautiful enough that I let it play again immediately after and really enjoyed it
Smile please - 3 Heaven is 10 zillion light years away - 4 Too shy to say - 3 Boogie on reggae woman - 4 Creepin' - 3 You haven't done nothin' - 5 It ain't no use - 3 They won't go when i go - 3 Bird of beauty - 3 Please don't go - 4
I guess I'm just not a Stevie Wonder fan. Nothing against him or the music, but aside from a few hits, none of his albums have really connected with me.
A little warmer sounding album than the other one. Can’t say I’m in particular mood for this kind of music currently, but I can see how he’s celebrated. 3/5
Fulfillingish
#200!
No 5 star Stevie songs on here but I like that it’s tighter and a few fewer sappy songs than some of the other entries. 3.6
3.5 Heaven is 10 zillion light years away was the best on the album for me. The synth/moog bass was pretty cool throughout, if a bit flashy. I will have to be consistent with my ratings and deduct my minus half point for being fake blind.
Never heard this Stevie before. Talking Book, Innervisions, Songs, I’ve listened to all those quite a lot over the years. Somehow this one got overlooked. I think it might have been hurt by that lack of familiarity, honestly. Because by the end I was musing about what a genius Stevie really is, as I usually do. 4 Boolean: True
Not my fav Stevie album but it’s still incredible bc he’s him. Boogie on reggae woman is obviously a stand out. I will also now forever associate this album with Andre 3000 bc I passed him on the sidewalk while listening so it gets a boost from that as well.
The most frequent thing I wrote down in my notes while listening to this album: "and, of course, harmonica" I don't think I needed to listen to this album before I died, but I do think it was very pleasant and I always enjoy Stevie's harmonica and clavinet stylings. I enjoyed the piano counters to the more lively bits - the steel guitar on "Too Shy to Say" is celestial and sounds like a glass harmonica - and "Bird of Beauty" was a delightful showcase of Stevie singing in Portuguese
Fulfillingness’ First Finale is Stevie Wonder looking inward after having spent years looking outward. It’s spiritual without being preachy, political without becoming didactic, romantic without becoming sentimental, and funky without sacrificing sophistication.
Loved it. Really got into Stevie Wonder after seeing him open for the Rolling Stones in Chicago, back in 1972. I had this album, the two before it and the 1 after. Was a great time for his music.
First listen. Absolutely fantastic. I loved all the chord changes. What a beautiful album.
7 - GOOD

he NEVER MISSES
3.6/5 - I mean, it didn't really make me feel anything. My perspective on music like this has really been watered down by the radio.
Not as strong as the other albums of the classic period, but still quite good.
Stevie doesn't really miss. This is a very colorful fun record.
Didn't really care for the slow songs other than "They Won't Go When I Go," which is layered perfectly and blasts passionate soul into your bones. My other favorite two songs were "Boogie On Reggae Woman" which was an upbeat funk fest and Please Don't Go, just an overall enjoyable tune. I liked this album more than I thought I would. 3/5
The album generator is not real. Almost every album it's given me this far has somehow been the perfect album for what I'm feeling. Today it gave me Stevie Wonder's "Fulfillingness' First Finale." What was I doing last night? Learning "Too High" on a Rhodes. This morning I listened to "Songs in the Key of Life" while driving somewhere. Now I'm not the biggest fan of soul, but I've always liked Stevie Wonder. So because of all of that, I think this was a great album to listen to today. And a great album it is. This album has the classic blend of soul and funk that Stevie Wonder excels at. Smooth chord progressions, gospel choirs, synths, all that fun stuff. The lyrics are uplifting when you want them to be, relatable when you need them to be, and always poetic as ever. It's complex while still being easy to listen to. The one problem with this album is me. No matter how hard I try, I just can't FULLY get into soul. When this album slows down too much, I end up losing interest. Something something "music is subjective" yada yada, you get the point. Great album. Fun listen. It's Stevie Wonder, what do you expect? ----- #0010 Heard on: 24 Sep. 2026 Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ (81 / 331) Favorite track: You Haven't Done Nothin' Least favorite track: Creepin'
Quite liked it
After listening (and loving) Stevie Wonder’s hit, this album felt anticlimactic and just underwhelming. None of the songs stood out, it was a meh album
#473/1001. The classic period continues, which means yet another album Jamiroquai tried to top but never did. No biggest hits here, but the grooves are smoother than july.
Just good stuff -- all of it.
I wish a Stevie album would click for me one of these days....alas....not today
Ahh Stevie🥰
viņam diezgan labi sanāk tā mūzikas lieta
I've learned I'm not a Stevie Wonder fan.
Pff wat een gezeik. DNF
OK, just not very interesting to me.
Gots that quintessential Tamla Records sound. Stevie will most likely get at least a 4 at worst on each of his albums. The ability to beautifully weave in and out of genres is matched by very few (Steely Dan come to mind).
