Damn, what a talented performer! (Weird to not hear the lyrics to "Fat" though, LOL)

Ranged from fine to annoying. I'd give it two and a half, if I could.

Yup, sounds like 1987 alright
Hell yeah, rad album! Slightly dated language in a spot or two (and I don't mean the second track)
Good album but didn't fire me up in quite the same way as Sly & the Family Stone "Stand!" did yesterday
Great performance from an obvious legend. Could be longer though; I kind of doubt that the concert itself was only 35 minutes long
I liked it, pretty funky and groovy
Good but not really my usual stuff. Just nice background music mostly. I do like it but it's not compelling to me.
Great album, classic. Reminds me of Mom busting me smoking pot in high school, LOL
Seemed pretty good but didn't _really_ grab me. Definitely very late-'90s.
Eh, it was fine. I didn't dislike it
Hmm, I thought it would save my review, but I guess not since I did it in a different browser? Anyway, Son of a Preacher Man was the only song I knew, but the album was great. She's got a really good voice, and the album was pretty cool and groovy.
Great album, classic
Damn, what a talented performer! (Weird to not hear the lyrics to "Fat" though, LOL)
I love this album; quintessential hippy rock. Can't go wrong
Eh, it was pretty much fine. Seemed like Gym Rock
Hell yeah, reminds me of getting stoned in Dan's dorm room in college
Seemed fine, nothing special though. I'm sure it was meaningful at the time
Pretty good but didn't like, really strike me or whatever
I love this album!!! The backstory makes it even better, but even without the story, it's still an hour of some fantastic jazz piano improv. I should buy the sheet music for it some day even though Keith was kinda unsure about that.
Fun album that reminds me of college
Great album, classic for a reason
Partially rad, partially toxic masculinity, partially boring and samey
It was pretty good, not really my thing though. I wouldn't mind hearing a song or two now and then but an entire album was a bit much
I mean, hell yeah. RSVP Ozzie
Pretty funky and psychedelic which is fun for a while but didn't strike me as something new or different from other late '60s psychedelia
Great background album for a chill afternoon.
I mean, I already knew this one was great, but it's been a while since I actually listened to it!
Not my usual type of music but still a great listen and very enjoyable
I've never heard of this group/arriving before but it was lots of fun!
Great songs, tight harmonies, great album.
First Radiohead album that was released as I was getting into that kind of music, so it's probably my personal favorite, although I think Hail to the Thief might actually be better. (4 stars)
I mean, it was fine but a little bland. And tbh if I'm specifically reaching for a Fleetwood Mac album, I'm just gonna grab Rumors. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pretty interesting and experimental but not necessarily something I want to listen to that much or that often; it felt too dark and dirge-y and not really coherent enough.
Rap / hip-hop still isn't really my thing, but this album was pretty catchy and fun to listen to. I thought about giving it four stars, but I heard too many f-slurs for that :/
I think I like the idea/concept of Frank Zappa better than I like the actual music, LOL. It wasn't bad though; it's entertaining for the length of the album but I wouldn't want to listen to much more than this, or listen to this too often.
Great album, solid all the way through. Reminds me of high school / church youth dances though, LOL
Fun album! I don't think I really have much to say about it though, other than that I enjoyed it and have enjoyed it for many years.
Pretty fun! I like how theatrical Alice Cooper is, and I enjoyed it, but it's not necessarily something I want to listen to _all the time_. But every so often, it's great!
Kind of slow and sleepy, but nice voice and nice '60s folk.
Eh, not really my thing. It's fine, but it's too repetitive and not very interesting or engaging for me.
Great album, bangers start to finish. I really thought about giving it five stars, but landed on four because I gave five stars to Led Zeppelin IV, and although this album is great, I do think that IV is better! 4 stars
I've heard of Patti Smith before, but this might have been my first time actually listening to her music. And I liked it a lot! She's got a great voice and the music was cool too. I can definitely hear her influence in a lot of other stuff I like.
Pretty fun to listen to, but didn't really grab me.
Very strange, or, uhh, "eclectic", haha. Pretty fun listen, but not something I'd be reaching for often.
I've never heard of this artist before, but the album was very groovy and chill and I liked it!
Good beats and fun to listen to!
Fairly quintessential '90s femme indie rock. Not really something I'm going to actively put on very often, but also not something I'm likely to skip if it comes up.
Sounds like Steely Dan, alright! Pretty groovy and chill but nothing particularly notable.
Not really my preferred era of rap / hip hop, but it didn't strike me as offensive or bad, just not my cup of tea. I would give it three stars, but I know too much about Ye to do that.
This was right in my wheelhouse and lots of fun to listen to! I don't like the use of the f-slur in Fairytale but society generally wasn't concerned about that in 1988, I suppose, and it's only the one, so I guess I'm gonna let it slide.
I kind of didn't really expect to like this one that much, but it was pretty good! If I were doing half stars, I might give it three and a half, but I'll round up to four.
It was pretty good, but honestly I don't really see the big deal about Steely Dan. This is another that I'd probably give three and a half stars, but this time I'm rounding down.
Pretty good! Sounds basically like early Pink Floyd. But my preferred Pink Floyd is probably like mid-Pink Floyd.
It was fun but pretty standard late '60s psychedelic rock; nothing super notable.
Great voice, not necessarily my usual genre, but lots of fun to listen to anyway. Kind of sad though, knowing her history.
Good voice, nice angsty music, great listen.
Great African jazz, fun listen!
Not bad. Basically just feels like action movie soundtrack, which I don't dislike but I'm not like super into.
Pretty chill, sleepy indie, nice background music.
Pretty sure I have literally never heard anything on this album aside from the title track, until today, LOL. It was fine though. Not amazing, not bad.
I mean, yeah, great album. I didn't really need to listen to it in order to rate it, but I did anyway, haha.
Pretty cool and chill, didn't blow me away but I enjoyed it.
Great album, very chill and jazzy and cool. This is like, prime male singer-songwriter for me.
It was pretty good! But honestly, I don't really get the common obsession with Prince. Like, it's fine and pretty good but it's not like, amazing to me.
Pretty cool jazz but didn't really strike me as being super special or anything.
Great album, rocks a lot. I think metal has changed a lot since this album, but I like this version of metal.
Fun beats and some fun lyrics, but too much shouty and some pretty badly aged lyrics.
Love this album!! Reminds me of childhood, haha. Not necessarily Daft Punk's _best_ album (that'd be Alive 2007, or Discovery if we're talking strictly studio albums) but still great.
Pretty good, I like Depeche Mode even if they're not necessarily my usual fare. I could be talked into four stars, but I think three is my gut feeling in this moment.
Great voice, nice chill jazz, I didn't listen to the lyrics too closely but I think they're pretty good. Not a whole lot to add, but I liked it.
Pretty good and chill ambient techno-hip-hop or something. I liked it.
Good album with at least one or two bangers, but we're starting to get away from what I would consider "essential" Led Zeppelin. It might be four stars if I hadn't already listened to Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin IV.
Nice, quintessential '80s pop, pretty fun listen! "Don't You Want Me" was the only song I was previously familiar with.
Pretty good, high energy, solid live performance. But I'm not that into Motörhead, just generally.
Pretty good and solid, but like Motörhead yesterday, I'm just not that into Aerosmith in general.
Pretty good classic Clapton! I'd be pretty happy to hear any of this on classic rock radio.
Great album! I like the music a lot and her voice reminds me of Siouxsie Sioux.
Pretty good, nice and poppy. But not really my thing generally.
Pretty good, I like Clapton, but nothing groundbreaking or amazing or anything.
Pretty good for what it is! But I'm not a huge Thin Lizzy fan generally; it's basically fine.
Pretty good and chill emo background music, nothing super compelling for me.
Nice chill afternoon music, great voice, couple of fun live moments.
It's not really "for" me, and I wasn't really that into it, although I do support the messages behind it.
Nice and chill and groovy and indie.
Great album, peak chill ambience.
Good album! Lots of classic tracks. And only a bit pretentious (2 hours is a long run time, LOL).
Pretty good, some nice classic songs, but also some filler.
Pretty good! Not my usual schtick but the type of country that I don't really dislike.
Eh, it was fine, pretty non-objectionable background music. I didn't dislike it enough to bump it down to two stars.
Some catchy music but definitely not really my thing.
I liked this! Nice ambient chill indie stuff.
Eh, I'm not really an Elvis person, but it was pretty good.
Sleepy and boring, with strained patriotic emo bits.
I was unfamiliar with this group, but it was pretty good! Nice early 2000s indie, good music, good voices.
I liked this a lot! Loud and noisy but in the ways that I appreciate.
Very chill and groovy, with great messages/lyrics. What is actually going on??
Pretty chill and groovy, good lyrics, a little bit sleepy overall. I'd give 3.5 if this project had half-stars, but I'll round Stevie up to 4.
Pretty cool and fun, but the whole concept of the persona of "Dr. John, the Night Tripper" feels kinda problematic to me.
Pretty groovy and jazzy and chill, easy to listen to in the background.
Pretty good, nice slow and sleepy album for a Friday morning.
Nice, pretty quintessentially classic alternative rock from the '90s. This is basically what I hear in my brain when I think of alternative rock.
Seemed fine, it all sounds pretty much the same, which is shouty, fast loud chords, and drums.
Nice voice, good music, pretty chill, but not really my style.
Pretty good, nice that it's a bit more complex/interesting musically than a lot of punk rock. If it was much longer, I might give it a lower rating, but I thought it was a good length and hits on interesting topics.
Pretty good and chill, didn't fully grab me but was a nice background listen. I'd give it 3.5 stars if that was an option on this site, but I think I'm rounding this down to 3.
Great album, solid and classic throughout.
Pretty fun but didn't strike me as very novel. Pretty standard 1960s psychedelic rock. Reminded me of 1960s era David Bowie.
Pretty groovy African jazz; I liked it.
Not really my thing mainly, but pretty good and a fun Thursday listen!
Not really my usual type of music, but I liked this. It's catchy and has a bit of depth to it, and she's got a great voice.
I liked this one a lot; great millennial-era indie rock with some punk influence and sometimes a bit of a Velvet Underground flavor.
Pet Shop Boys are a band that I've always heard of, but never really actually listened to before this. But like, this shit is pretty good! I can see why people like them!
Great album! Another group that I was basically unfamiliar with, but good vibes, nice late '90s / early 2000s indie sound.
Very groovy and chill. I pulled up the "Inspiration Information / Wings of Love" special edition on YouTube Music, which is more than twice as long as the original, and ended up listening to the whole thing. I don't always do that with "special editions" in this project; if I'm not into it, I'll stop listening once I've made it through the original album, skipping all the extras.
The title says it - it's pretty raw, but you can feel the power. Reminds me of The Velvet Underground, but probably a bit harder and rougher.
Leonard Cohen's great and important, and this album was good, but it wasn't like, OMG.
A bit too honky-tonk for my tastes, but pretty short and listenable.
Great album! Even though I've listened to a fair amount of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, this was mostly songs I was unfamiliar with. They're real bangers though!
More country than I typically listen to, and even kind of honky-tonk, but I actually really liked it; The Byrds' sound works really well with this genre.
It was good; Joan is clearly talented, but it wasn't really my thing generally.
Pretty good but not really my thing. I'd give it 3.5 stars, but I feel like rounding it down to three instead of up to four.
Great piano, great horns, great voices, great vibes.
I mean, he's good, but it's just not really my thing.
Pretty cool album! I didn't really listen closely to the lyrics, but I think they were mainly themes that I would support and enjoy. "Post-punk" might be my favorite type of punk (maybe?), and I liked how this was pretty heavy.
Pretty fun, mostly just reminds me of Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band, I forget which one, LOL. Not really my thing but enjoyable enough.
Fun album, great indie sound.
Eh, it was fine but honestly I think it's kind of overrated.
Ehh, it was fine, but I'm only really interested in listening to one or two or three songs, and they all kinda sound the same. I'd go with 2.5, but we're gonna round down to two stars here.
Hell yeah! Early Björk, just as weird as later Björk, super fun and indie coolness.
Pretty good! You can definitely hear the mid-'80s of it, and honestly I didn't like the singer's voice that much, but it was pretty good anyway.
Eh, it was fine. Loud and fast, not much differentiation. But I didn't hate it. I wasn't listening to the lyrics very closely, but it seemed like there was less toxic masculinity than in the other Metallica album I listened to earlier this year.
Eh, not really my thing, but there were a few tracks I enjoyed pretty well, and I didn't really dislike the rest; I just kind of didn't notice it. Pretty unobjectionable, I guess. Cool backstory though.
Very cool and chill, also very funky and groovy. I liked it a lot!
Ehhh, I wasn't really into it. It was fine I guess.
Great album, lots of fun, great energy!
Pretty groovy and jazzy; I liked it!
Pretty fun, I liked this! I even listened to some of the special edition bonus content. It wasn't like, mindblowing, but pretty good.
This was fun, and I like The Velvet Underground generally, but it wasn't like super amazing or whatever.
Pretty good, not amazing, but I enjoyed listening to it.
Eh, it was fine. It was mostly background music that I didn't particularly notice or listen to, TBH. But I think I might like it more if I actually paid attention to it, so it's getting three instead of two.
Rush is great and this was lots of fun to listen to!
Pretty fun stuff, I enjoyed it.
It was fun but maybe a little bit too much weird for the sake of being weird for me to rate higher.
They're very talented and it's objectively a good example of what it is. But I'm just not really into this type or genre, and I'm trying to reduce the breadth of my three-star category, LOL.
I like Depeche Mode and this had some good tracks on it!
Definitely among his better music.
Pretty cool indie rock; I liked it!
It was fun but honestly a bit tamer than I expected.
Funky and cool, a bit repetitive sometimes, but it was a fun listen.
Eh, it was fine, but honestly not as good as I had hoped for a band I had heard about a lot but hadn't actually heard very much music from.
Some really good tracks and some weird and not very good ones, haha.
Ranged from fine to annoying. I'd give it two and a half, if I could.
Great stuff! I mean, the dude's A Jazz Great for a reason.
Never heard of them before today, but this was a pretty fun and cool album!
The Beatles are a top-tier group, and this is a top-tier album of theirs. It's not perfect, but the website doesn't allow half-ratings, and I'm trying to be more generous at the top end and more harsh at the bottom end, so this is getting five stars instead of four (or four and a half, which is what I actually want to give it).
Very funky and cool, great album!
Not my usual type of music, but she's got a great voice and the music was pretty good, too. I think previously this would have been a 3-star, but since I'm trying to be both nicer and more harsh, I'm giving this one four stars.
Love it! Nice voices, great harmonies, cool folky songs.
I really wanted to like this more than I actually did. It was pretty fine and fun but not as cool as I had hoped.
Pretty good! I'd listen to this again.
Pretty good but I'm starting to wonder why we needed more than one or two Nick Drake albums on the list.
Great example of the type of synth-pop that I like. Groovy and lends itself well to moving your body, a little bit goofy but not too much, and includes some amount of anti-fascist sentiment.
Not my favorite Radiohead album, but still really strong and solid early-era Radiohead.
Not really my usual type of music, but it was pretty chill and enjoyable to listen to. And it's pretty sexy, which I definitely don't disapprove of.
Pretty fun, classic '60s rock!
Great album, really fun listen! And it doesn't hurt that it reminds me of some bonus content of one of my favorite podcasts, LOL.
Of course "Tainted Love" is great (although I didn't realize it was a cover until reading Wikipedia), and the rest of the album was fun, too!
It was pretty good! Not really my thing, but still fun enough to listen to.
Eh, it was fine but I wasn't really that into it.
People make fun of Coldplay a lot, but this is actually a pretty solid and good album.
Very cool and chill; nice jazz for a rainy day like today.
Pretty fun album, nice tempo, good feel. Not what I expected from the cover photo, LOL.
Pretty nice and chill ambience!
I get that it's culturally important, but it's not really my type of music. It was fine and good enough though.
Nice, chill ambience. Sigur Rós is weird but cool.
Pretty fun '60s pop, not really my main thing but still an enjoyable listen! 3 stars
It was pretty fun but didn't strike me as particularly amazing or noteworthy.
Nice late '90s grunge, fun listen!
Eh, it was fine but pretty standard rock and roll; nothing too major or groundbreaking or whatever.
Pretty sleepy, which is maybe not what I needed today, but it's still good.
Cool '80s indie, very atmospheric.
Pretty good! Rap isn't one of my main genres, but this had a good sound to it and I enjoyed listening.
It was pretty good, nice and chill, but it wasn't like, amazing or anything.
Great music, nice energy, the spoken instructive bits are a little bit distracting though.
Haha, before listening to this, I was only really familiar with one Lorde song, and it wasn't on this album. The album was good though!
Maybe a bit overrated, but still a good and fun listen.
Great album! I wouldn't mind a bit better audio quality, and a longer album, but great music, lots of fun.
Not really my thing and I didn't really like it very much, other than one track that I like another artist's version of.
In my head, this is basically like the definition of emo rock. And I'm a little bit too old for it to have really hit me at the best time. But I still enjoyed this listen!
Hell yeah, great album! Definite classic.
Solid album! Johnny Cash might be best live. I love that he played "San Quentin" (the song) twice, back to back, LOL.
Can't go wrong with Sam Cooke; he's great! Audio quality could be better though.
I'm glad to see / hear any "world music" in this list, but this particular album struck me as neither particularly notable or objectionable.
It was pretty fine, but in general, I'm not a huge Elvis Costello fan. I don't dislike his music, though.
It was decent. Pixies music all kind of starts to sound the same to me after a few tracks, but I don't dislike it.
Nina's great - good voice, good songs, etc. Good listen.
Lots of fun! Proto-punk is great! Good live sound, even with bad sound quality, great high-energy show.
Pretty good! Fairly edgelordy but still pretty enjoyable musically.
Eh, it was fine. Leonard Cohen generally isn't really my thing, but I didn't dislike it.
Great album; I love their sound.
Honestly, I kind of struggled to get through this one. It's just not my generally preferred type of music and I was having a hard time feeling it. I recognize that it is good and culturally important though, which is why it's getting three stars instead of fewer.
Pretty good chill hippy music; could have been a bit more interesting though.
Eh, it was fine but not really my thing.
Good solid hip hop! I often tend to enjoy '80s rap and this is no exception.
Pretty good! Solid '70s Bowie.
Good album if you're into that kind of thing! It's got a couple real stand-out tracks but in general, it was pretty good.
Good album! I listened to it on my own (ie not as part of this project) just a couple weeks ago and was glad to listen to it again today.
Pretty fun! But somehow less punk than I had imagined, having not really listened to The Clash much before.
Pretty funky and groovy; I liked it!
I don't really feel great about this southern American band using Mexican imagery and stuff but the music is fun enough.
It was pretty fine but didn't strike me as super amazing or anything; I liked Thriller better generally.
Not really something I'm interested in listening to very often, but I do enjoy it and this is a good example of it.
Hell yeah, late '60s jam band rock and roll; I love this stuff.
Pretty good early 2000s indie rock. Not super memorable but I liked it.
Good music, great voice. Not really my main thing or first choice though, and a 3-4 hour box set was maybe a bit much for the "an album a day" project, LOL. 3 stars
Pretty groovy and chill, I didn't pay close attention to the lyrics though; I just liked hearing some funky music.
Eh, it wasn't bad but I wasn't extremely into it. But it was pretty good.
Pretty fun and foundational stuff!
Pretty groovy and chill early 2000s Britpop; I liked it.
Pretty good and chill but not like mindblowing or anything.
Fun album, great piano and sax jazz.
Interesting conceptually but not really very interesting musically.
Pretty cool and chill, nice vibes.
It was good enough, just sounded like Dire Straits LOL.
This was good, kind of dark, and I liked it a lot.
Good! Cool vibes, nice early '80s mood.
Is it RHCP's best album? Probably.
Damn, so good and solid. Simple but not sparse, very clearly heartfelt. First album in this project that I immediately queued up for a second listen, as soon as I was done with the first. The last track about made me cry.
Eh, it was fine, nothing particularly noteworthy.
Janis is great, and this album was lots of fun!
It was pretty good. Mostly instrumental, which I prefer over his music with lyrics. But even so, one album at a time is about enough; this doesn't make me want to go listen to more right away.
It's not really my preferred genre, and I wasn't very into the subject matter. There seemed to be a lot of both self-aggrandizement in ways that I'm not a fan of, and victim culture, as well as sexism and whatever else. But some of the hooks were decent. If I could better separate the art from the artist, I might give it two stars. But it's getting a one.
This was cool! I personally would have preferred if it was slightly less heavy metal and slightly more Brazilian but I still enjoyed it!
Eh, it seemed like pretty generic white guy '60s rock.
Really great album, very chill, very heartfelt. This is probably in no small part due to nostalgia, but I love this album.
It was good but I think not their best work. A little bit too much on the noisy/edgy side for me today. I might rate it differently on different days though.
Eh, it was fine. I didn't dislike it. But tbh I don't really see what the big deal is about Randy Newman. It was fine unobjectionable background music. If the album was much longer, or if the individual songs were much longer, I might give it a lower rating.
Big nostalgia hit for me. Might objectively be three stars, but it's a four in my heart.
Fun album, great prog rock. No complaints.
Pretty fun listen, good catchy beats. I was starting to get a bit tired of it by the end, but it was still pretty good overall.
Great album, fun listen.
Good album, cool afrofuturism sci-fi concept, nice groovy beats.
Eh, it was fine but didn't seem like anything special to me.
Pretty good, classic example of its genre etc, but not super my thing. A bit loud and repetitive and edgy for the sake of being edgy for my tastes.
Nice and solid, some good tracks. I'm giving it a 4 but I think it's just personal preference and/or nostalgia that raises it from a 3.
Like Morrison Hotel yesterday, this 4 is probably at least partially just purely personal taste, but I did enjoy listening to this album and think it's pretty good!
Björk is weird but a lot of fun and this album is pretty chill with some good music.
Idk, I think I just don't quite understand the appeal of Prince. I know lots of people are _really_ into him. I enjoyed this album, but it didn't seem like anything too special to me. I guess maybe people just like that he sometimes sings about sex and other sexy things? Idk. It wasn't bad and I didn't dislike it.
Pretty good. I like The Velvet Underground generally, but this didn't feel like their best work and was all a bit samey.
