Me encantó

- love too shy to say - love the highs/lows and the aggression of the piano - intro of boogie on reggae woman - sick synthesiser on the bassline, the HARMONICA SO LIT - shift between reggae and creepin' was seamless, yet contrasting - love the backing vocals on creepin' and love the scale down of notes on "you will always creep into my dreams" - collaborators on you haven't done nothin' is insane and its sound quality through earbuds IS CRAZY (he's raspy on this one) - they won't go when i go - haunting, the minor key, the layering of vocals

every songs were 10/10

funky, soul, chill. this is what stevie wonder is. i wouldnt rather do anything than listen this album.

I’m on a great run atm. So many great albums being thrown my way and this one is another banger. Wasn’t the biggest fan when I listened the first time but a second listen has firmly made this a 5 star for me. I loved 6 of the 10 songs and liked the rest. Stevie does slow emotional songs really well but the funky songs are where this album shines. Boogie on Reggae woman was the highlight for me

Not even in my top 3 Stevie and still a 5.

Until 6 months ago, I knew only two songs from this album, but when we got that George Michael album with They Won't Go When I Go, I listened to it about 10 times (and thought wow, George really got his songwriting groove back) before I discovered that it was Stevie's, upon which I listened to the original ten more times. (Now I'm collecting versions. Chance the Rapper's Tiny Desk version is sweet but he doesn't really have the pipes.) It was a true pleasure to hear (most of) a Stevie Wonder album for the first time. OK, it's not the funkiest thing he ever did but so what.

Great stuff. I would never have listened to this ordinarily. Glad it was on here.

He's probably the best musician ever.

Expensive hotel lobby music

wow this album was just the perfect music for a considerably warm day in march; i felt like i was on a tropical island or something, and i was just walking through the streets of musty toronto! i really liked smile please, boogie on reggae woman and creepin. 10/10

simply amazing from top to bottom

Actually amzaing

Once again, this is just Stevie Wonder at the top of his game. Solid 5 Stars.

Much like Innervisions, I’m somewhere above a 5. Hell, I’m probably at a 10. (Innervisions is also a 10, by the way. Songs in the Key of Life is somewhere off the number scale; another star, if you will.) Until today, the only track I’d ever heard from this album was “They Won’t Go When I Go” – maybe I’d heard a few other tracks in passing over the years, but I only ever added that one to my playlist. I still think it’s the tour de force of the album, and one of my favorite tracks of all time, but the entire package here is a real delight. I gotta tell you, it’s great to hear “new” Stevie Wonder music to my ears. It does take a little bit to get into this album’s more spiritual / grounded vibe, but once you accept that this isn’t generally gonna have the big showstopping numbers like Innervisions or Songs in the Key of Life does (though “You Haven’t Done Nothing” is practically just Superstition 2), its sense of intimacy feels uniquely qualified from all the Stevie Wonder albums on the list. In a way, Stevie’s speaking to his own soul here, & we’re just along for the ride. It’s a ride that’s definitely worth taking. “Smile Please” is just really uplifting, especially in a time where it feels especially hard to find the strength to smile through… well, all of this shit. It’s no “Love’s In Need of Love Today”, but it’s still a great opener. “Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away” is Stevie’s gospel side coming through in an even more potent way than “Have A Talk With God” did 2 years later, and I’d argue it’s an even better track. Something about his delivery on “we’ve got so far to come” just feels great. It’s probably my second favorite track on the album. “Too Shy to Say” is a good one, but I do think it’s the weakest track here. It just feels more like it was written for a movie than it does Stevie talking to his soul, and that disconnect makes it stick out from the rest of the package. I still like it, but it needed a little more of a wistful bite to it, and it’s a bite Stevie definitely gets later in the album. “Boogie On Reggae Woman” is just a good love track, & Stevie’s ever so slightly horny side peeking out with this track is a surprise. Perhaps a little long for what it is, but the funky production is what makes it, especially with the harmonica solo near the end. I enjoyed it. “Creepin’” feels like a Michael McDonald track, in a really good way. It’s got that wistful bite I was hoping “Too Shy to Say” would have, yet delivered in a way that still feels like it’s romantically driven towards Stevie’s soul. Minnie Riperton’s backing vocals really glide with Stevie’s, and their harmonies along with the synth work just make the track feel smooth as silk. “You Haven’t Done Nothing” is… well, like I said, it’s Superstition 2, & apparently, a track directed towards Richard Nixon. It does feel like a track more so directed at the people who only make promises & never do actual action, and it’s one that feels especially relevant in a world where online activism gets more engagement than real community activism. The Jackson 5 do a great job with their backing vocals, and while I wish they would’ve had something of their own to say (though I can’t imagine a 16-year-old MJ would have that much wisdom in his words), the entire track works. I really liked it. “It Ain’t No Use” once again has the extra wistful bite that I wish “Too Shy to Say” had, and it’s driven by an amicable breakup (or at least, an attempt at one). The backing bass & choir really add to the atmosphere, and Stevie’s ad-libs for the entire outro just made me enter a zen state that I haven’t gone into in a while. It’s a really nice track, especially once Stevie gets a bit more grit in his voice. “They Won’t Go When I Go” is fantastic. If any musician on the planet can brag about their faith & so boldly & confidently claim that he’ll be looking down at them from Heaven, it’s Stevie Wonder. His conviction & delivery makes the track, and it’s impossible not to feel the bubbling righteous anger that comes out of him. George Michael’s cover is great, but Stevie’s version is incredible, & it’s one of my favorite tracks of all time. “Bird of Beauty” is a really energetic lift back up, and the Brazilian rhythms that drive the track feel like a direct foreshadowing of what would come by “Another Star”. Structurally, it feels close to “Golden Lady” from Innervisions, though without the same consistent lift at the end. It’s just a track about finding a natural high from simply seeing the beauty the world has to offer, and while that’s ironic coming from a blind man, it’s still advice worth taking. It’s a fun track. “Please Don’t Go” really works as an album closer; obviously, I might’ve ended on “They Won’t Go When I Go”, but just look at the titles of each track. It thematically fits really well for the man who was so confident about the world he’d leave behind to feel shattered at the prospect of someone leaving that world. That wistful bite I keep talking about really hits an apex here, and just makes “Too Shy to Say” really feel like the weak link. The way Stevie glides, lifts & elevates on the piano, the passion in his vocal runs, the way the choir compliments him, & the funk of the bass & shaker percussion all come together in a more gospel-y driven way to end the album. It’s a great closer. It really is a fantastic package, and I’m glad that this album got its due on the list. I might’ve listened to it in full someday, but that might’ve been a lot longer, & I was already overdue to hear the rest of it, based on the strength of “They Won’t Go When I Go”. Stevie Wonder is the GOAT, and I’m glad he took us on this trip through his soul. This is an easy 10. Save for a singular weak link, it’s just as good as Innervisions, and I can’t wait to get Talking Book down the line for our 4th & final Stevie album on the list. Stellar, stellar stuff.

It's agreed that this isn't quite as good as the other albums in his amazing run of five. But being not quite as good as Innervisions or Talking Book means it's still better than at least 90% of the albums on this list. By the way, "You Haven't Done Nothing" was written about Nixon. Still relevant.

Classic

Buenísimo

Nice to hear something of Stevie's other than "Superstition" or "Sir Duke."

Absolute banger

lwokey love this

I get it. He is just so fucking good. His voice is great and he is so much fun to listen to.

Stevie was at the top and this album is one of the tops, so tops of the tops.

"I got Music on My Mind, I got Talking Book, I got Fufinity, Fulfillity, fuck it, you know, the GOOD one!" - Eddie Murphy, Delirious

This is my second Stevie Wonder album. The other one was Songs in the Key of Life. I really like this, especially songs like "Boogie On Reggae Woman" The question with artists like Stevie Wonder is do you judge them by their standards or by the standards of his contemporaries. If I was going purely based on the run this album is in the middle of, then maybe it is not as highly rated as the other two around it. If you rate him based on his contemporaries then this is head and shoulders above so many others. Stevie, even on an off day is just so damn good as a singer/songwriter. In the end I'm going with 5 stars because even though I like the other albums. I still love this and it is a cracking album.

Got to love Stevie!

Another great Stevie album, full of amazing grooves, excellent lyrics, and the type of music that makes you want to throw your ass 5/5, fav song: Boogie on Reggae Woman

Not quite peak, a bit more knotty and chordal than some of his 70s stuff. But it's still amazing.

OH HELL YEA STEVIE WONDER

Saved every song

TO JEST TAKIE DOBRE, JEGO PŁYTY MOGĘ W CIEMNO BRAC

This is my first Stevie Wonder record and I had an excellent time with it. As soon as the buttery smooth 'Smile Please' kicked off the album, I was immediately charmed by the warmth and the soulful voice of Wonder. The production on here is sublime, with the harmonies of backing singers helping to create such a rich and dense sound throughout the entirety of the runtime. There's not a bad song here and everything feels varied. Wonder can turn down the pace with a slow jam like 'Too Shy To Say' before bringing you immediately bring you back to to life with the funky Moog-driven 'Boogie On Reggae Woman'. Wonders tackles a number of important topics here, from attacking then-president Richard Nixon on 'You Haven't Done Nothin' ' and reflecting on his own mortality on the haunting' They Won't Go When I Go'. If this is considered the weakest Stevie inclusion in the book, then I am absolutely buzzing to see what else this immensely talented man has to offer.

Really enjoyed the album. None of stevies biggest hits but still some great tracks. 5

had one of the most metaphysical boners while listening to this

The first song was so happy and with these lyrics so full of hope. I am amazed of the second song. I LOVE ITTTT. I have to say it again: these lyrics are incredible, they are so peacefull. WHAAT, Too shy to say it its soooo good. This song its like a chill walkout on the countryside when youre in love with somebody and have to think it without anyone around you. Kinda like a frank ocean song If he did music back in the 70`s. Boogie on reggae woman, danzable song, I imagine this in a party of the time. Creepin is also good, Im loving it. I totally understand why You Havent done anything its the one with most streams. BUT I dont get why It Aint no use is the least stream, this song is beautyfull. Hello? The piano? wow. NO ONE CAN KEEP ME FROM MY DESTINY. WOW. There is too much in life for you to feel. Man Im loving everything of this peace of art. I like this song to be the last one. Please dont go its so good too.

fantastic as always

Probably my least favorite Stevie Wonder project so far which is to say that any artist would dream of making this album

Just amazing. How can you not like Stevie Wonder?!

This is a much more chill groove than previous Stevie offerings we’ve been assigned. Still, though… it’s Stevie, and he’s a genius. Period.

Unlike many of the artists with multiple albums on this list, I did not find myself saying Jesus Christ how many fucking albums can Neil Young possibly have on this list. Instead I found myself going holy shit even if this is slightly lesser than Innervisions it is still a 5 star album.

Excellent!

Groovy, nostalgic, light

This was amazing! This was so so good! Stevie is great and I could listen to him all day! Always interesting and great!! Actual rating...4.75 Liked Songs: "Smile Please" , "Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away" , "Too Shy To Say" , "Boogie On Reggae Woman" , "Creepin' " , "You Haven't Done Nothin' " , "It Ain't No Use" , "Bird Of Beauty" , "Please Don't Go"

No bad songs

I didn’t know this gem existed 😍 I loved every single song!

This is brilliant.

I always knew Stevie Wonder was special but I wasn't expecting something quite this level. And it's not even considered one of his best albums, wow. The whole thing is giving musical theatre, with touches of jazz and gospel. There is such a clear message in each song and throughout the whole record. He has definitely discovered joy and that's always exciting for me to see. Vocals are 5+/5, WOW!! What a silky smooth, rich, versatile voice. I could listen to him for hours. Production is 5/5. So much creativity, incredible grooves, and fully formed ideas. No filler; each song serves a purpose and is masterfully ordered. Great lyricism, good melodies. Very well written songs. I don't really consider myself a religious person, but my favorite track was Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away. Such a powerful message. Too Shy to Say was really beautiful and the transition into Boogie On Reggae Woman had me hooting and hollering. I wish this album was longer, honestly. Gonna have to listen to more of Stevie on my own time. 5/5

i have never wanted to be wife’s up making pancakes in my kitchen so bad

que álbum delicioso, lindo, encantador.

a simply fascinating jazzy experience

Шикарный альбом

I love Stevie wonder!!

En I LOVE moog bass!!!!

Holy crap this album is so amazing i cant even

AKA “Fuck it, you know! The good one!” per Eddie Murphy’s “Delirious”.

flying fish music thank you sir

Absolutely lovely.

Another album I own on vinyl that I had yet to dive into fully, much to my detriment. How does a 23 year old make work of such profound depth and feeling? This man is truly touched by god. Re: the album artwork- has anyone else ever put Grammy Award statues on their cover and then won them for that album? Favorite song: Smile Please

A warm hug of an album from the soul music great.

the world cooked with this man

Wow what a man SW is and has a superb voice and is a whizz on the piano and what a performer

Stevie. Not my favorite of his classic period, but still.

I love the muzz of jazz and soul on this album. It was familiar and strange all at the same time.

Great album, particularly enjoyed the instrumental in the second track

Another great Stevie Wonder album!

What a beautiful album. Stevie does great work, with groovy, soulful, and at times even haunting sounds all coming together artfully.

Seriously loved this album. The instrumentals in the beginnings for almost all songs were super fun and funky. Instrumentals throughout were so good too. Thoroughly enjoyed!!

I'd never heard the whole album before. Another masterpiece by Stevie. I just can't with all his top notch music. Stevie was the king of the 70s, and there was a lot of competition.

rly enjoyed (((:

very melodic and nostalgia induced, reminds me of the sun breeze when i was a child. 4.5/5

Great 70s R&B

I just love the vibes, super easy, clean, chill. Definitely a Sunday morning driving to the beach

Der vibe war so chillig und das instrumental war übel krass!!

Goddddd, mindre kommerciel end jeg of life, og en tand bedre end talking book imo, man kan høre harmonikaen fra isn’t she lovely allerede testes af her!!!

what a gorgeous album. no skips, essential listen

Really nice listen, mix of types of songs, all flows well together

That man can do no wrong. Adding "You Haven't Done Nothin'" to the playlist.

I mean, this is Stevie Wonder. These are the gold standards of the genre. It's not a genre I particularly enjoy, but I'm not going to poo poo on Stevie Wonder, man.

Excellent.

Haven’t heard Stevie Wonder quite like this before, only know his huge hits. Really interesting to hear and cool to hear a more raw or rough around the edges kind of sound than something like superstition. This feels like an album you smoke to

Classic Stevie wonder

Fuck me, Stevie Wonder is incredible. Thats it.

4.5/5 Stars Top Songs: Boogie on Reggae Woman, Smile Please, Please Don't Go

Amazing

The OADc journey is full of surprises. Oddly enough, I bought Songs in the Key of life and Innervisons on vinyl the day before Fulfillingness' First Finale popped up. I'd consider myself a fan of Wonder's classic period, but this is the one album from that era I don't have and had never heard. I get why this one slipped under my radar. It's more subdued than the others, the quiet kid sitting in the back of the party. There are still some funky tracks on FFF, or, rather, one funky track and funky sections of others. And I didn't enjoy it as much as, say, Innervisons, but damn this is a pretty record, and I'm so glad that I finally heard it. While FFF won't match the experience of the other four classic period albums, it's still a masterpiece. Five stars.

Absolutely brilliant!

I just love Stevie Wonder so much. I've never heard any of these songs before and I don't even recognize this album title, despite it being between two I know well and despite it winning Album of the Year at the Grammys. It feels like it should be more familiar. But the fact that it's not at all made for a fun new exploration. And it's true that in listening to it there really is no big obvious single. So for that reason, it's a little behind albums of his that also showcase all-time great songs like "Higher Ground," "I Wish," and "Sir Duke," but with Stevie, that doesn't really matter. Still a 5 star album.

This is highly regarded among Stevie fans. It didn’t change my mind that innervisions is his best album, but it’s Stevie. One of the handful of acts who deserve more than 2 albums here. Most need only one. But Stevie, man. Also extra point for the appearance of Michael sembello, who wrote 'maniac'. Michael plays guitar here. 21 stars.

Absolutely incredible.

Absolutely blown away by this one, the mix of impressive performances musically with heartfelt expression and emotion is incredible

I somehow hadn't heard this album before. "They won't go when I go" was an amazing track.

If Stevie Wonder has no fans, I am dead

This is such a fantastic fucking album, just so perfect to relax and vibe. Beautiful song writing and Stevie at his best

Genius!

Fulfillingness' First Finale- Stevie Wonder Released in 1974 July 22nd Nice feel Overall 8.5/10 Genre is soul and progessive comtep. 17th studio album from Stevie wonder Stevie wonder drummed, played keys, sang he produced the full album on his own. DAMN Michael sembello played guitar 42 min long- decent timing. Heaven is 10 zillion light years away is very good. Good fading out and keeps a strong back beat. Catchy beat You’ve haven’t done nothin has a great intro They won’t go when I go piano solo is really really good. Simple yet complex and interesting, song apexes and falls so interesting at the same time it flows so hard Bird of beauty is a nice change up with how the backbeat is and the woodwind instrument. Vocals on please dont go are fire

Just straight up fucking amazing

Fantastic album

Holy what a smooth album. Some terrific soul on here mixed with some nasty funk. The production is great, the musicianship is tight, and Wonder's voice acts like another instrument that pushes the song over the top. There's not much else to say. For an album that's considered one of his weakest of his "classic period", I've enjoyed it far more than others of that era. The lack of a true hit single or timeless Stevie Wonder hit adds to its allure - it's just a strong, steady, funky album through and through.

Love Stevie

Stevie really is a wonder, man.

Funkadelic

Absolutely loved this album. Listened to it front to back twice while walking through the woods. This is a wonderful album.

Classic Stevie. Funky, mellow, introspective. This album flew right by. Great listen.

As always, Stevie Wonder proves he’s in a league of his own. The production is stunning, he plays most of the instruments himself, his vocals are flawless, and every song feels perfectly crafted. Favourite tracks: Smile Please, Creepin', It Ain't No Use, Bird of Beauty, and especially They Won't Go When I Go - an absolutely tragic piece that sends shivers down my spine every time.

Pretty good album 5/5

Amazing soul record, Stevie only makes hits

This album is actually really great. I haven't ended up liking that much some of the songs here, but most of them are very impressive. So, even if I doubted whether to give it four or five stars, I think it well deserves five. The variety of sounds and layers on this album is amazing. I've enjoyed it a lot.

5/5 like every stevie wonder album

It is always a nice feeling to have a Stevie Wonder album to listen to, never a chore. What another fantastic album, his melodies, lyrics and interpretation are amazing and it shocked me that he even sang in Portuguese on one of the songs. I had Innervisions before, which I felt more developed butvIbpoved this one too! 5/5

Easy A! 5/ 5

This one bowled me over track after track! After feeling a little let down by Talking Book, I was wary, but the subtle brilliance of this album tore down my walls. It’s such an impeccably executed but easygoing set of tunes. It has been almost nothing but standout moments. Great melodies, grooves, instrumentals, solos, lyrics. Every track has given me something lovely to latch on to. Must-listen #238!

Jebote u ovoj prvoj polovici sedamdesetih je inspiracija baš mazila stevieja

he was really cooking with this one

i cannot see how good this is

Another excellent album from his best era. While I wish that there were a few more funky songs like "Boogie on Reggae Woman" or "You Haven't Done Nothin'," the lyrics are fantastic, especially on the spiritually plaintive "Heaven is a Zillion Light Years Away." The production is also stellar. He was absolutely hitting his stride during this period.

Another fantastic album from Stevie's golden era. It has everything you'd want, the gospel songs, funk jams, soulful ballads. Also, I'm a big Dylan fan, but absolutely no one plays the harmonica like Stevie Wonder. He makes that shrill instrument sound silky somehow. I especially loved Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, the Nixon takedown You Haven't Done Nothin, and the almost creepy with its rapture vibes, but super mesmerising, They Won't Go When I Go. A 4.5 for me but its Stevie Wonder, gotta round up

I apologize Mr.Wonder, I was unfamiliar with your game. Fantastic record, fun, heavy at moments, just lyrically on point. Musically nailing it, just a banger of a record.

Yo, did he start Boogie on Reggae woman with "i like to see you boogie"? I'm a little biased i think because when i was a baby learning what music was, Stevie Wonder was one of the main features. But to me, listening to this album, his composition is up there with Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, lyrics on par with the Psalms and Rumi, performance maybe just under people like Ella and Mike. The greatest to ever do it. And no matter how much praise he gets, it's not enough. This isn't even his best album, these aren't even his biggest songs, i hadn't even listened to this one before but I'm amazed.

Great album. Still figuring out the raging system but I added multiple songs to the playlist and I listened 3 rkmes

Banger

I mean it’s Stevie. He’s one of the best musicians of our age.

Album is a 10/10

sorry jacob this is better than songs in the key of life too

I'm learning that Stevie Wonder albums often take me a couple listens to really lock in, and then even if I didn't love the while things, I usually can't deny the guy's got all the rizz. He can write hooks, but it seems more often he wanders around inside the music to explore an idea that is also a feeling, which is perhaps why every tune pushes against itself with weird minor or discordant elements. But if you're able to give him your attention, you'll at least go on a ride, and you may even resonate with his vulnerability and passion. And then other times he's just really fun. "Boogie Woman" and "You Haven't Done Nothingl'" are easy favorites, but I also liked " Heaven" and "Too Shy to Say."

Favorite Track: They Won’t Go When I Go

Stevie Wonder didn’t just make music, he rewrote the DNA of soul. It feels like he traded his sight for the ability to see deeper into sound and emotion than anyone else ever has. His classic run of albums is untouchable, every one of them a 5/5 listen. The harmonies, the soaring vocals, the compositions that feel both intricate and effortless… there’s nothing to pick apart. Stevie is the gold standard of timeless artistry. And sure, the hairstyle might get him compared to the Predator. See Exhibit A: https://images7.memedroid.com/images/UPLOADED429/5c380f525f234.jpeg but let’s be real, the Predator wishes it had Stevie’s catalog. Classic Stevie Wonder is perfection, plain and simple. 9.5/10.

This album is just gorgeous start to finish. Warm, soulful, and ridiculously beautiful. Every track feels alive and heartfelt.

Love his voice, it makes slightly lame concepts like "Boogie on reggae woman" really come to life.

Come on, there's very little better than 70's Stevie Wonder. FFF was released in the middle of a slew of near perfect records. Every song is interesting in its own way, theres a huge amount of diversity, but Wonder maintains some thread throughout them all that ties them all together. The harmony is constistently sophisticated without sacrificing soulful feeling, and, of course, everything grooves very hard. This is the sort of album you can enjoy listening to over and over again, catching something new each time.

Some of my favourite sounds. The transition from too shy to say into boogie on reggae woman is wild.

To think that this was his warm-up for Songs in the Key of Life.....I love music!! I love you Stevie Wonder!!!

I'm not really used to reviewing music. I think I listen to it in a much more passive way than most people, so I don't know if I'll have much to say. Definitely nothing of interest to say. Now that's out of the way, this album was beautiful. I'm sure at some point I've heard Stevie Wonder's work, given the legend that he is, but this is my first time really listening to him and I think I'm already hooked. From start to finish this was one of the most perfect listening experiences I've ever had. I have no idea if this website is randomized or the albums are always in the same order, but I can't imagine a better start.

groovy

I knew Stevie Wonder was good, but I didn’t know he was THIS good! I think from now on I’ll totally be sitting down and listening to more Stevie Wonder.

Fun, easy listen. Stevie's got a Wonderful voice and a beautiful way around music.

An exceptional album from Stevie’s classic period. It’s a testament to Stevie’s prolificness that this, his 17th studio album is considered “classic Stevie.” No skips, and despite its title “Please Don’t Go,” the album closer, is one of the most joyous, smile-inducing songs I’ve ever heard.

This is cool as hell. I never listened to Stevie Wonder outside the big hits before this project and so far 2/2 are great. They Won’t Go When I Go was my favorite track. It’s so unlike the rest.

This is an album I’m very familiar with, as I had a bit of a Stevie Wonder obsession not too long ago. FFF may not be his greatest album, but for anyone else, it would be. FFF came near the end of a 5-album run untouched by any other artist. This album should be on the list just for Boogie on Reggae Woman and You Haven’t Done Nothin,’ with the latter being aimed at Richard Nixon. The rest of the songs are more personal, with several being about Wonder’s relationship with God. They Won’t Go When I Go is a haunting song about how Wonder will leave this earth and go to heaven, while those who aren’t right with God will be taking a short trip to hell. Mostly, the album is about love and no one writes love songs like Stevie. This album is a must listen.

You really never see people talking about this album the same way they do Innervisions, Songs In the Key of Life etc. Stevie was on a different level at this stage of his career, top tier stuff.

actual peak

another banger from stevie

Perfect album

Stevie Wonder at his best. Pretty much a perfect album.

Genuinely fantastic album. The entire album was fantastic, but They Won't Go When I Go might actually be one of the most powerful and beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Colorful and funky

One of my top 3 Stevie albums. Just a cool funk/ soul albums

Now THIS is some soul music I can get behind. I wish I could tell all the pretentious music nerds that Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions aren't his only albums. What a gift to the world.

5 stars

Incredible album

Such an underrated Stevie album. One of my favourites

chill, calm, full of life, kinda groovy, nostalgic, beautiful voice, perfect for an evening Aperol, dim lights inside of a mansion beloved one

This album starts out like a freshly brewed cup of fair trade Colombian brew coffee on a warm Sunday morning. It uplifts you to the point that when you realise you need to vacuum your house, you’ve got a wholesome energy so you don’t even mind vacuuming, in fact you dance and smile as you do it because everything feels right in the world. As the day winds down into a calming sunset, you at peace because you know you couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday.

it would be a stretch to call any stevie record """dark""" ofc but there is a more subdued, cloudy mood to this album than any of the others of his peak period, which are usually some kind of exuberant. this is most easily attributable i suppose to stevie recovering from a brief car accident-induced coma, a brush with death that recontextualizes the continual, stubborn idealism of his music to even greater heights. something v moving here even in the more lowkey sound with how often stevie affirms the beauty and order he sees in the world, even in the emotionally bleaker places. and ofc, lots of amazing songs with all of stevie's usual strengths of the period...the dense and warm arrangements with the intimate feeling that he plays almost everything, combined with the gorgeous melodies and structures that seem to have both their contents and presentation felt out with nothing but godlike heartfelt instinct. i got rained on while walking to this album and it felt like a wonderful compliment tbh...grey and overcast and Cleansing. i wanna single out you havent done nothin, not because its the best song on the record (the minnie riperton-featuring sensual masterwork Creepin is prob my fave), but because considering its kind of a rewrite of higher ground, which was kind of a rewrite of superstition, it rly shows off the records unique strengths via direct comparison...the darker clouds give i this Edge and Teeth that eclipses its predecessors...those are probably still the better songs on the whole, but they could have been on other stevie albums and made sense, this one could Only be here

Masterpiece. The production is perfect, everything sounds clear and crisp. Stevie Wonder drops nothing but absolute bangers here. Legendary

I loved the album and all of the songs it was a great album will tell my friends

Wowowow incredible

Y’all ever just been taken to church? Cause album will take you to church. This is the red headed step child of an unmatched imperial phase. And so while I like other albums from the imperial phase more (talking book and innervisions are insane) this is still a classic. Also I can’t get over the fact a 24-year-old wrote this. I spent 24 pining for an ex and wondering if I should drop out of grad school

Excellent.

Stevie Wonder was at the top of his game in the early 70’s This album is a fine example of that

Beautiful, fun, of course. A resounding W for Stevie W

An absolutely wonderful album that takes you on a beautiful journey.

Great old stevie wonder, hadn't heard many of these since i was a kid

ok wow first five stars and first stevie wonder album ive ever heard! you guys were NOT kidding this shit is amazing. best track: heaven is ten zillion light years away worst track: too shy to say

Not really given a listen to before and I suppose it stands amongst some nailed on all time classics.

Not a Stevie album I've heard before but from his prime era. Very cool.

Amazing! Of course!

BANGER

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad Stevie Wonder song and that says alot because the man has dropped a thousand albums

STEVIE WONDER

I feel like the US is going back to appreciating Stevie Wonder, good stuff here

Somehow I "didn't see" this album hidden amongst the other amazing albums Stevie Wonder had made in the 70's

First Stevie Wonder album I actually liked start to finish

my dad once said to me "Thing about Stevie, he has some of the best songs ever written... But some of them are absolute shit". Fulfillingness' First Finale is certainly the former. I've lost count of the amount of times I've listedened to Songs in the Key of Life, one of my all time favourites. But this is fantastic and gets better every time. It's insane to think you can have so many incredible tracks and there's no sameyness. A welcome listen.

I want to float in an inner-tube on the warm vat of maple syrup that is Stevie Wonder's voice. Like in a daydream montage in an animated movie.

139/1089 - Really good! A very original voice in songwriting and arrangement. I liked every song on it and am surprised I haven't heard a lot of these before. I guess it was inbetween the two of Wonder's most critically acclaimed albums so it got pushed down a bit. Honestly this rivals Innervisions for my favorite Stevie Wonder album, gonna have to relisten.

I tænker måske at den ikke er en 5/5 fordi der ikke er nogen numre man kender med, men I tager fejl. Det er et Stevie album fra mellem 1972 og 1976, så det er selvfølgelig en 5'er. They Won't Go When I Go er en af hans bedste numre

Soft, energetic and smooth. With FFF Stevie developed his sound even more. The grooves are funkier, the lyrics more political and the vocals smooth as ever. FFF is a great step up in the right direction, but for me personally a slight little setback from Stevie's achievements on his previous record: Innervisions(my personal favorite stevie wonder record). Nonetheless FFF is a landmark and a testament of a record that is unmatched and a unique piece in his already mindblowing catalogue, for me FFF, together with Innervisions, is where Stevie perfects his sound, making way for completion on Songs in the Key of Life. All in All this record blows my mind each play and is a record I come back to on the regular, as Stevie's feel for making songs is so unique and just perfect and FFF is a perfect example of his grand design. Favorite song: Creepin'. Overall score: 9,4/10

Sensacional! A vibe é indescritível, meo. Tem até música em português

Просто любовь к Стиви и всему его светлому и волшебному творчеству! My soul <3

Easy five star album... 1975 Album of year

i listened to songs in the key of life instead 10/10 fav: knocks me off my feet least fav:

stevie wonder né completamente fora da casinha

Muito bom

I think this struggles sat as it is between innervisions and songs Iin the key of life. But that's not to take away from its joy and its love. We'll miss all this when he's gone

Stevie can do no wrong. Classic.

very good for completing physics packet

Groovy fun

9.5/10 Overrated, nah. One or two syrupy sweet ballads to move album sales…might be able to see better than he lets on, possibly. The genius and joy are undeniable

"Boogie on Reggae Woman" was excellent. You Haven't Done Nothin' was an exercise in extreme funk. It Ain't No Use had a steady, relaxing sound. His vocal performance in Please don't go was a standout for me. Overall, a great way to spend 42 minutes. Love from Daytona Beach, Florida! :)

Stevie is awesome.

Great album. Even my 9 year old really enjoyed it.

The Moogs are bumping and grinding. Stevie's voice is telling the truth. You can't help but get transported back to the mid 70s.

An amazing album! His classic albums made during 70s are the epitome of creative songwriting, performance and production. I haven't listened to this in ages. I need to get back to his catalog. This music fills my heart with joy. Love you, Stevie.

This album is awesome, I like it a lot better than the other earlier Stevie Wonder album. I listen to. Feels a little bit more cohesive, more of a groove, less monotonous and repetitive. I’m thinking five out of five.

Class, sophistication, soul - Stevie!

Some of the most danceable songs in the world here! Stevie Wonder is responsible for a majority of the world’s best songs, who knew!

Stevie is a national treasure. Such an amazing talent!

One of my faves from his classic era. So well done.

smooth af

man I'm not much of a Stevie Wonder guy but I cant deny how good this was. It has a pretty soft start until Boogie on Reggae Woman and it gets funkier and a little more energetic. You Havent Done Nothin' is probably my favorite from this entry but honestly the whole thing is a pretty good listen. That horn section!

What a superb album. It’s probably the 4th best album during his Renaissance period and it’s still an easy 5. “Please Don’t Go” is the perfect evolution of Stevie’s Mowtown sound. “Boogie on Reggae Woman” is so funky and danceable. There really isn’t a dud on the whole album.

March 25, 2025 The last 70s album belongs to… Stevie Wonder! It’s been so long since a Stevie album, I almost forgot there was more to the list besides Songs, Innervisions and Talking Book (all were brought to me here by 2022, though I had heard Talking Book earlier in life) Perhaps I was a little biased from this album before, just because there was no song from this as ubiquitous as “Higher Ground” or “Sir Duke”. I actually only knew the marching band stop of “You Haven’t Done Nothin’”. Yet learning 9 new Stevie Wonder songs has never been an issue in the past. The fact that “It Ain’t No Use” and “Smile Please”might be my least favourite tracks speaks volumes to the consistency of FFF. Only thing wrong with em is that they’re next to even better songs. The fact that the 4 Wonder albums featured here were all released 4 years apart, one after each other, blows my mind. Absolutely legendary run HL: “Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away”, “Boogie On Reggae Woman”, “Creepin’”, “You Haven’t Done Nothing”, “They Won’t Go When I Go”

Wonderful album.

And that’s the story, of the key change baby

First time listening to this album and something about it already feels so timeless. His voice sounds so smooth on this record and makes for easy listening

What can you say about this album that hasn't already been said? It's a masterpiece. I am fortunate enough to own an original copy and have listened to it more times than I can remember.

great! nothing more to say.

This album falls between Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life and is sometimes an overlooked part of Stevie Wonder’s classic period. Perhaps the problem is that there is just too much good Stevie Wonder to listen to? This was his 17th album and the fourth out of arguably five of the best albums ever made. There are no well known hits here (with just one number one single), just consistently great tunes in a unique progressive soul style. We have heartfelt love songs (Too Shy to Say) leading into lovely, squelchy boogie rhythms (Boogie On Reggae Woman) and it all flows perfectly. There’s a down tempo number about Creepin’ into someone’s dreams (with backing vocals from Minnie Ripperton!) that segues into a blistering funk attack on the moribund Nixon administration (with backing vocals from the Jackson Five!). This is a great way to spend a Friday - I’ve listened to this twice in a row, and I’m just about to put it on again! Why not join me?

brilliant from the first notes. this music feels like a hug

Stevie is without match. Great album

Stevie at the height of his powers. Great songs, music, and vocals.

Beautiful. My favorite Stevie Wonder album I've heard so far.

Super!

Enjoyed too shy to say and creepin It ain’t no use Piano solo they won’t go when I go I love , gospel/ medieval inspiration - harmonies gorgeous- favourite Bird of beauty is amazing bosa vibes , makes me think of Brazil be sunshine , happy vibes 9/10

70s stevie is all 5‘s.

I was not familiar with this Stevie album but after listening to it, realized I had heard more songs than I thought (Boogie on Reggae Woman, You Haven't Done Nothin'). It's Stevie during his imperial period so of course it's fantastic. I loved it. Favorites: Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, You Haven't Done Nothin', It Ain't No Use, They Won't Go When I Go (especially the piano intro), Please Don't Go Would I listen to it again: Yes

Effortless playing Has a mood lifting function Nearing perfection

Not his best album but the worst of Stevie Wonder is better than most other artists

It’s like a whole album of awesome album cuts.

Black excellence.

He's got the funk.

Woooo doggy this was a good one! Stevie really knew how to crank out the classics in the 70s. Standouts: “It Ain’t No Use”, “Bird of Beauty”, “Please Don’t Go”

Finally a fun, flamboyant, and full-fledged album from famous fingers of fine fellow Fevie Fonder

A real stellar listen

Not a single bad song in this album!❤

Alliterations are awesome So splendid, smart, so Stevie Fulfillingness' first finale finds few flaws Grower gains gigantic greatness

Great album, genuinely enjoyed it.

Magnificent soulful funk

excellent

Golden Era Stevie

A lot of emotion. So much skill. Legend for a reason.

My fav Stevie album I can say

you alr know this is my favorite stevie album... Now to be fair... I think songs in the key of life and innervisions hold a candle to this one for sure, but i just think this one has the most heart and the best sleeper picks. (Plus a personal favorite sleeper, too shy to say). it's a 10

Great album...Stevie always brings it.

What a sound. just incredible, playing and songwriting. ALL WITH NO EYES!

It’s Stevie Wonder, what else needs to be said.

Nice background music

Stevie at his peak

Every song is perfect and has beautiful singing.

Simply “Wonder”ful

From what I've gathered, this album isn't one of his favourites amongst fans. I find this album to be very underrated in that case because I really enjoyed this one. It's warm and upbeat and his voice is unsurprisingly amazing. I was deadset on giving this a four and I was trying to think of reasons to mark it down but none really came. Too samey? But I didn't get bored of it. Cheesy lyrics? Probably 80% of music has dumb lyrics. It's just a really solid, easy-listening album and it will most likely become a comfort album of mine They Won't Go When I Go is my favourite track

I really enjoyed it a lot very upbeat and fun

A masterpiece in Stevie's incredible 70s run. The man was connected to something deeper than we'll ever know. It just flows out of this album. The most 5/5 of all time.

Loved this album. But then it is part of the rhythms and sounds of my late teens. Favorite songs were Boogie on Reggae Woman, and You Haven't Done Nothin'. Both had great and layered intros, and were excellent to the end.

Tremendo.

I LOVE STEVIE!!!!!!!

I was blown away by this. It makes me excited to listen to the other Stevie albums. What a genius.

alegria vai cantar carnavaaaaal

A good reminder that I should listen more often to Stevie Wonder. What a musical genius. This isn't his best record, but plenty of great songs and lots of variety in musical styles.

Stevie is always a good listen.

Will I listen to it again? Probably not. Did I really really like it? Yes.

94% Best: Smile Please; Boogie On Reggae Woman; Creepin'; You Haven't Done Nothin'; It Ain't No Use Must-Hear? Definitely

FFF is an album that has always eluded me in some way. It's unlike anything else from the Classic Period, and that is undoubtedly due to Stevie's near death experience/coma less than a year before it was released. It's a dark, sometimes bleak album; Stevie, who was like, 23? 24? when he wrote and recorded this was confronting his mortality, his abilities, and the world he returned to in the wake his accident. When Stevie asks "Can I play?" twice in the outro to "Boogie on Reggae Woman" - a song that I don't believe features any other musicians - it's not just him taking a solo; it's him proving to himself that he's still got it. But the shape of the whole album still mystifies me, even as compelling as it is. The haunting, funereal "They Won't Go When I Go" is conspicuously placed on the second side of the album, a centerpiece of reckoning amid songs that are tonally disparate in comparison. The drum machine - maybe the only one I can think of Stevie using - on "You Haven't Done Nothin'" is conspicuous in its machine-like chug. Altogether, this feels like the Classic Stevie album I still have the most to learn from, and that is a rare thing for an artist so celebrated.

One of my favorites of all time. Can feel its spirit.

For how legendary Stevie Wonder is, I've never sat through an album of his before. All I can say is wow, what an album. These songs are layered with musical nuance, great singing, and deeply emotional moments. Smile Please opens the album on a high note and Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away sounds like very moving gospel. There aren't really amy low points here, with my other favorites being Too Shy to Say, Creepin', and Bird of Beauty. Loved it.

stevie wonder's music is consistently good; his jazzy, carefree ballads and dance tunes can make anyone feel good after a rough day. he's a true virtuoso of sorts when it comes to composing; i often find myself grooving along with the tracks and being blown away by his mesmerizing hooks and accompaniments... it should come to nobody's surprise that even if someone can't physically see anything, let alone an instrument or a sheet of music, they can still understand music on such a deep level.

Everybody has a favourite Stevie Wonder album, right? The only mistake this album has for me is that it's not Talking Book.

Day 6 - Fulfillingness' First Finale I was surprised to see this Stevie album on this list, and I didn't know any songs before listening. But it was a great album! I loveeee his voice so much and most of the beats were really fun to jam to. The album flows so easily. 'You Haven't Done Nothin'' reminds me of 'Superstition'. 5/5! Standout songs: Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, Too Shy to Say, Boogie on Reggae Woman, and Creepin'

This is beautiful, the sound of the 70's for me. Wonder's vocals are silky and soulful and my favorite part is how the background singers so perfectly complement and add depth in interesting ways to every track.

One of his very best. 4.5 stars. Rounding up to 5.

Absolute Stevie banger! (10) ★★★★★

My second favourite Stevie Wonder album. Nice listen for sure!

Untouchable brilliance! His best album.

Favourite songs: You Haven't Done Nothin', Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away, Boggie On Reggae Woman, Please Don't Go Least favourite songs: They Won't Go When I Go 5/5

This album is packed with amazing songs. Stevie Wonder’s voice never sounded better to me. My favorite is "Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away". I think it has such an optimistic viewpoint and is uplifting with a strong statement of faith. Beautiful. https://tinyurl.com/47btbp65

Another stupendous soulful, hopeful collection from Stevie. This guy really wrote some of the best songs of all time. Most of the tracks on this album are not that, but definitely a 5 star collection of rythmn and blues for sure.

Smooth

Had to give this one a relisten because it was so good. I think this is the second 5 star album rated on this list that I hadn't heard before. This album rules

Pure genius.

Exquisite.

I still thought it was incredibly fun, albeit having more serious themes than other Stevie Wonder albums. In particular, They Won’t Go When I Go and closing on such a high energy bop like Please Don’t Go were highlights for me. And You Haven’t Done Nothin is probably the most jam-worthy critique of a president I’ve listened to. Stevie’s voice is smooth like butter. His expertise of the piano is so apparent in what he does. Everything is intentional, and it’s so groovy.

pretty nice would smash to

Never really listened to Stevie Wonder. This is a great Sunday morning album

Brilliant. 10/10.

Didn't listen but cmon

Very good album of his falling just short of great. Probably the least of his albums during this period and could have been left off the list in favor of the others. Having said that, its Stevie and its jazzy, inventive, and a joy to listen to over and over. It ironically seems more introspective than Innervisions which is more socially critical. Particularly like Boogie on Reggae Woman. Creepin seems to have become a jazz standard. You Haven't Done Nothing seems to channel Superstition but in a good way. When I Go is a bit of a depressing dirge. 4.6

They said no hits came from this album but I’ve at least heard a few on the radio before. Pleasant surprise. Stevie is always great.

don’t hurt em now 😮‍💨✋

Pre-listening thoughts: LETS GO STEVIE WONDER W!!!! I actually know zero songs on here but I have not heard Stevie Wonder miss so far so! Also can I say how refreshing it is to open this page to some pretty/non unsettling album art for once oh my god. Post/during listening thoughts: good lord I love Stevie Wonder. His voice is just butter over the smooth golden base of his music. He is also the master of smooth key changes and you know how I love a good key change. People were complaining about there being multiple Stevie albums when all you “need” to hear is Songs in the Key of Life. Hard disagree. I think all 3 are necessary and Stevie is one of very few artists that deserve every album pick on this list. 10/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: yes Stevie Wonder is magical Fav tracks: once again literally all of them I mean there’s no skips! Least fav tracks: none

Not my fave Stevie record, but a Stevie record nonetheless and therefore timeless and worth endless re-listens. This guy is one of the best to ever write and play. Each phrase, hell each note, holds more interpretation and spontaneity than any entire pop album coming out these days. You know that every time he performs one of his tunes, it is gonna be different. Quintessential "in the moment." Can't fake groove and feel. It just has to be there, and this album has it everywhere. "You Haven't Done Nothin'" is just as relevant now as it ever was.

It's no secret that Stevie is in a league of his own when it comes to songwriting. And while this album doesn't produce any mainstream hits, its sum total is nearly equal to the quality of SITKOL or Innervisions. The very fact that an artists' 17th studio album is of this caliber says everything you need to know.

Stevie Wonder is one of the best of all time. I’m not really familiar with this album so I’m glad this list encouraged me to listen. It might not be as amazing as some of his other work around this time, but I can’t give anything Stevie made in the 70s less than a 5.

I was just properly introduced to this record by a friend in recent weeks, and even just listened to it last week. I couldn’t be happier with now knowing this record. It doesn’t have the bright cheeriness that “Songs in the Key of Life” offers, but the vibes are certainly still very positive, with a few being upbeat. “Heaven is One Zillion Light Years Away” is my absolute jam, and I’m atheist. Stevie has such a raw talent for creating music that is universal. The songs on this one are modest in tone, yet uplifting, and I think the engineering has a lot to do with that. Another quality work from the legend.

I have not heard this one before. The other should be wider album that I'm familiar with as a great favorite of me and my girlfriends. I think this will be joining it.

How have I not ever listened to this before? It‘s an amazing record.

A stunning tour de force. Some of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs and a couple I was not as familiar with but loved. What can we say about the music of this man whose voice carries love, compassion, sorrow, kindness and the full range of human emotion in words of poetry. A master.

The tone of the bass is sooo good.

I'll have to listen to this more for sure, but I loved this. It was joyful and exuberant and it made me smile, which was nice after an otherwise mediocre week of albums for me. Looking forward to revisiting this one and listening to more Stevie Wonder!

If I had to summarize what Stevie Wonder is in a single word, it would be "Joy", because that's what he brings us. Once again, the 70s. Just like Bowie, everything Stevie released at that time was a masterpiece. I wanted to highlight the song Bird Of Beauty where Stevie sings in Portuguese (Brazil Mentioned!). Anyway, it is truly an honor to live on the same planet as this genius! Every time Stevie appears, it will be 5 stars automatically!
