Popular Reviews

Raw Power by The Stooges

3 5 Enjoyed it, but not sure it really stood out to me. Might be one where it clicks more on a relisten After registering I think the first half is really good but second let's it down a bit.

Young Americans by David Bowie

4.5 Didn't quite enjoy it as much as the first two Bowie albums I got but it's still really good

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen

5 Legendary singer releases his final album in 2016 and dies days later. Sounds familiar. A really good album, haunting almost. Death is universal but not an aspect of life that you hear artists reflect on so much, especially from someone who knows its so close at hand

All Ratings (145)

Fragile by Yes
Mar 16 2026

4 Rest of the album doesn't quite live up to Roundabout but it is one of the best songs ever written to be fair. Still a solid album though

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Mar 18 2026

4.5 My least favourite of their first 6 albums but still great

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Mar 19 2026

3.5 Could do with being a bit shorter

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 20 2026

5 Amazing from start to finish

Van Halen by Van Halen
Mar 21 2026

3.5 Eddie van halen is really talented but at points it seemed he put showing off over the actual music :/ really enjoyed some of these songs though

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Mar 22 2026

5 Loved this and never would of heard of these guys otherwise. Requiem is a sick opener and the rest of the album lives up to it

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Mar 23 2026

2.5 Really not my thing, can recognise its good though but I wouldn't want to listen again

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Mar 25 2026

3 A nice listen, nothing special though and feels quite dated

More Specials by The Specials
Mar 26 2026

3.5 Opening/closing song a bit weak imo, enjoyed most of the rest though

Back In Black by AC/DC
Mar 27 2026

3.5 Some bangers but quite overrated as a whole I feel :/

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Mar 28 2026

5 Incredible. Been a long time since I listened the whole way through and forgot how it all connects so well with the story throughout

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Mar 29 2026

4 Bongo bongo

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Mar 30 2026

3.5 Australian smiths? Some really nice songs, but ultimately nothing super special

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Mar 31 2026

3.5 Refreshingly unserious, you can see how crazy influential these guys were

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Apr 01 2026

4.5 Guitar is entrancing at times. Not understanding the vocals allowed me to focus on the music more in a way I feel

Apr 02 2026

2.5 Really frustrating in that everytime it seemed to be building to something good it just faded out instead. At certain points there also seemed to be one annoying instrument/sound ruining otherwise pleasant music

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Apr 04 2026

5 Like this even better than ziggy stardust I think

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Apr 06 2026

3 Can't believe they went with that holocaust line

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Apr 07 2026

3.5 She has a great voice, enjoyed the adlibbing on the last track

En-Tact by The Shamen
Apr 08 2026

2 Inoffensive, boring though

On The Beach by Neil Young
Apr 09 2026

3 Was kind of expecting him to have a stronger voice

Slayed? by Slade
Apr 10 2026

4 Can see why these guys were so big in the 70. Can also kinda see why they haven't had the same long term popularity as other bands from that era tbh. Overall thought it was great though, really fun rock album

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Apr 11 2026

4.5 you're all wrong tbh, the flute is sick

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Apr 12 2026

3.5 Pleasant enough but no idea why this is on the list. Is she mates with the author maybe? Upped a star on second listen to be fair

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Apr 14 2026

4.5 Man has a genius for spouting absolute nonsense but convincing you it must somehow be profound

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
Apr 15 2026

2 Feel like he's just making the stuff he nicked from other artists worse

Da Capo by Love
Apr 16 2026

2.5 First 6 songs were alright but usually there was that something holding them back from being really good, maybe the vocals/lyrics? The last song was just ridiculously overindulgent, thought it was starting to drag on by minute 4 and then it lasted 15 more

Apr 18 2026

4 Enjoyed this a lot more than the other electronica albums I've heard. Could still do with trimming down a bit tbh, cut out a few songs.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Apr 19 2026

5 This was great. Bluebird, let me roll it, nineteen hundred and eighty five... wouldn't be at all out of place on any Beatles album quality-wise Third listen and I'm upping it to a 5

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Apr 20 2026

2.5 Actually enjoyed this whenever there was no vocals, but his voice was so grating

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Apr 21 2026

5 Loved this, knew a couple of the songs but was really surprised how strong it was throughout

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Apr 22 2026

4 Interesting voice haha, I preferred the more upbeat songs to the slower ballads but still pretty solid throughout

KE*A*H** (Psalm 69) by Ministry
Apr 23 2026

2.5 Enjoy stuff like this far more when the vocalists aren't trying to sound 'scary'

Apr 24 2026

4 Pretty cool for the most part. Could have done with that one song where he's trying to defend his right to beat his wife and hate the gays

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 25 2026

5 Absolutely perfect album

Sister by Sonic Youth
Apr 26 2026

3.5 Wasn't huge on the sonic youth songs I'd heard before but this was alright actually

Sheet Music by 10cc
Apr 27 2026

4.5 Disagree so much with some of the top reviews here. This was really good, sounds so ahead of its time and some really fun lyrics

Want Two by Rufus Wainwright
Apr 29 2026

4 After the first song I was dreading the rest but after that I actually really enjoyed it. The guy is a really good songwriter and sounding a bit like thom Yorke isn't exactly a bad thing

Let It Be by The Replacements
Apr 30 2026

4 Nice album, wasn't expecting a love song about a trans couple on an 80s punk album

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
May 01 2026

4.5 Really good, and I'm not usually huge on purely instrumental stuff

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 02 2026

4 Enjoyed this, she has a really nice voice

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 03 2026

4 First I've heard of Costello and tbh his voice is not what I was expecting from a man who kind of looks like woody Allen. Admittedly wasn't huge on the first track but it really got better after that

Black Monk Time by The Monks
May 04 2026

3 The only two ways I could find to listen to this album were a YouTube playlist complete with ads for online casinos and cat food, or an Internet archive recording intercut with commentary in Spanish. I wasn't sure which of these was closest to how the band originally intended.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 05 2026

4.5 The two longer songs do drag a bit but the shorter ones are all great. Is quite funny that these guys are from california and weren't born anywhere near the bayou

Mask by Bauhaus
May 06 2026

4.5 On first listen I honestly thought this was a bit rubbish but then putting it on again I dont know what I was thinking, its great

Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer
May 07 2026

3 Can definitely see how influential it's been but really hasn't stood the test of time the way a lot of other 60s stuff has imo

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
May 08 2026

5 Has never been my favorite of theirs but on this listen it really clicked

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
May 09 2026

4 Not quite as good as some of their later stuff but most of the songs are still pretty good and it does have psycho killer

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
May 10 2026

3.5 A lot of the songs start off really well but do kind of dissolve into being a bit samey

Giant Steps by The Boo Radleys
May 11 2026

3.5 I reckon there's a much better 40ish minute album here but some of the songs either just didn't really work for me or were a bit boring

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
May 12 2026

5 Their best album imo, can't you hear me knocking might be their best song too

Maverick A Strike by Finley Quaye
May 13 2026

3.5 Another one where I really liked large parts of the album but was dragged down by several weaker/uninteresting songs (usually the ones where the fake accent was more pronounced)

Young Americans by David Bowie
May 15 2026

4.5 Didn't quite enjoy it as much as the first two Bowie albums I got but it's still really good

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
May 16 2026

4.5 A few weaker songs, mostly the more experimental Buckingham stuff. Could have done a shorter album that would almost be comparable to rumours out of the better stuff though

L.A. Woman by The Doors
May 17 2026

3.5 Some good songs but also just doesn't really stand out from other rock albums of this period for me

May 18 2026

4.5 Hole are great, and deserve more recognition and respect beyond just the cobain association, a really good album and some great songwriting

Transformer by Lou Reed
May 19 2026

5 One of those albums that just flows together so well, absolutely more than the sum of its parts

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 20 2026

4.5 Fairly sure there are other words that rhyme with trigger

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
May 21 2026

4 Didnt really stand out at all to me on the first listen but on the second time round, this is a genuinely really good album, very varied styles

Justified by Justin Timberlake
May 22 2026

3 Genuinely better than I was expecting and the best 5/6 songs were pretty good. Unfortunately there were another 4/5 that were just mediocre and a couple that were outright awful. Someone also needs to tell him that songs can be shorter than 5 minutes

Ingenue by k.d. lang
May 24 2026

5 Beautiful album, she has such a great voice and the whole thing flows so nicely

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
May 26 2026

4 Some great songs on this one, feels like a bit of a random collection though rather than an album that flows together

May 27 2026

4 Love the first half but I feel the last 3 songs aren't on the same level

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
May 28 2026

4 Cowboy vibes, first of theirs I've heard and I did like it, wasn't sure at first but it really grew on me

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
May 31 2026

3 Pretty standard pop music, few great songs but nothing special for the most part. The hidden track poem at the end is quite something...

Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers
Jun 01 2026

2 Didn't have high hopes after the last one of theirs and if anything i enjoyed this even less

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jun 02 2026

5 Listened to this once years ago and thought it was mid but listening again now and it's honestly amazing, front to back every song is great

3.5 Starts off with some hits but after that it's a bit safe and uninteresting for the most part, that one peace on earth song made me understand all the anti bono sentiment

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Jun 04 2026

2 I get that this was hugely influential and I could see the ways that so many bands i like were inspired, but I just would rather be listening to any of those bands. This sucks. And any good will that it would get from me for the influence is canceled out by John lydon being a complete bellend

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jun 05 2026

4 Liked it, not every song worked for me but most did

My Generation by The Who
Jun 06 2026

5 Love The Who, and this was a great debut, feel like they don't get the respect they deserve because of the Stones and Beatles

Skylarking by XTC
Jun 07 2026

4 Definitely reminds me of tears for fears but that's not a bad thing, listened on the way to my sisters wedding so big day was definitely appropriate

The Who Sell Out by The Who
Jun 08 2026

4 Don't hate the radio ads concept but I just think the songs aren't quite as strong as my generation (two days ago haha), bar I can see for miles.

Jun 09 2026

4.5 I like Muse, you can definitely hear the Radiohead influence but I think they have a more unique style than people give them credit for, especially on this album

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Jun 10 2026

4.5 Only knew whole of the moon before this which is one of my faves. This was a really interesting album, a few weaker tracks like on most of the albums on this list though to be fair

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Jun 11 2026

3.5 Message in a bottle is obviously great and a few of the other songs were pretty good but overall didn't quite hit for me

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Jun 12 2026

4 Nice blend of styles, very different from anything I'd heard before

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jun 13 2026

3.5 Nice and chill, good background music

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jun 14 2026

4.5 It's long but doesn't seem as long as it, surprisingly few hits but some really great songs

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Jun 15 2026

2 The story the album tells is pretty disturbing but considering he was both a 70s rockstar AND French, he should probably be praised for his restraint rather than criticised for it. The music is pretty good on the first and last tracks but ruined by the mic-in-mouth vocals, and the shorter track in-between, while the vocal are less annoying, are a lot less interesting musically. In terms of the lyrics, on the one hand a lot of other artists have done worse in real life, but Elvis or Jimmy Page never wrote a whole album about it. And it seems like Gainsbrough was uncomfortably interested in these themes, which makes it difficult to give the benefit of the doubt - especially since the whole presentation (the cover, his girlfriends schoolgirl-voice lines, etc.) seem to want to lean into the shock value.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Jun 16 2026

4 Some real 'ohh that's who that was' moments here. Without you - coconut is quite a vibe change

Purple Rain by Prince
Jun 17 2026

5 Listened to this a while ago and though it was an ok album with a few great songs but the whole thing really clicked this time round, i totally get the hype now

Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jun 18 2026

3 I started liking it more towards the end, but overall didn't really do it for me. Seemed like the vocals were mixed too high compared to the instrumentation maybe

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Jun 19 2026

5 Another easy 5, black dog and when the levee breaks are amazing, not to mention stairway to heaven

Illmatic by Nas
Jun 20 2026

5 Maybe the best hip-hop album in my admittedly not worth all that much opnion. The flow and lyrics are perfect throughout

Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk
Jun 21 2026

2.5 Not my thing, most of the songs were far too long and very repetitive

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Jun 22 2026

2.5 Was impressive to learn the story behind this and there's no denying how skilled a player he is. However, this is still ultimately 67 minutes of one man playing one instrument with occasional breaks for 3 minutes of clapping.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Jun 23 2026

3.5 Some really great songs here but not almost 2 hours worth of them. Having two versions of the same song is a bit self-indulgent, the 35 mins of jams at the end even more so. Maybe George needed Lennon and McCartney in a way.

Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré
Jun 24 2026

4 A really enjoyable album, again didn't understand any lyrics but it sounded good

White Light / White Heat by The Velvet Underground
Jun 25 2026

3.5 Very weird, not necessarily in a bad way, i was hooked throughout and I get why these guys had such an influence. But also I don't think I'd really want to listen again

Be by Common
Jun 26 2026

4.5 Pre-crazy Kanye production for a talented lyricist is always gonna be a good album

Raw Power by The Stooges
Jun 27 2026

3 5 Enjoyed it, but not sure it really stood out to me. Might be one where it clicks more on a relisten After registering I think the first half is really good but second let's it down a bit.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jun 28 2026

4 Enjoyed this, only knew come on Eileen before, like most people I'd think, but the whole album was a pleasant surprise

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Jun 29 2026

3.5 Pretty good listen, he's not Fats Domino though

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Jun 30 2026

5 Legendary singer releases his final album in 2016 and dies days later. Sounds familiar. A really good album, haunting almost. Death is universal but not an aspect of life that you hear artists reflect on so much, especially from someone who knows its so close at hand

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Jul 01 2026

3.5 Some great bits but the album (and a lot of the songs on it) just dragged on too much. Another that could have massively benefitted from a little restraint

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jul 02 2026

4 Take five is my favourite of the (admittedly very few) jazz songs I know. The rest of the album isn't quite as good as that song but still great

Scum by Napalm Death
Jul 03 2026

1 I once listened to Drakes 'certified lover boy' just after it had come out in an attempt to understand what all the fuss was about with him. Because of that punishing mistake this was only the second worst album I've ever heard - at least napalm death kept it under 30 minutes. There were points in this where for 15 seconds or so I'd think, this isn't so bad - a nice guitar riff maybe. And then the singer would start scream/growl/choking out something completely illegible, or the drummer would decide to see how fast, hard and tunelessly he could smash up his drums and it was back to being awful. The fact that the second half was by an almost entirely different group of musicians was the most impressive bit, because they'd somehow managed to find people worse than the first lot. I've tried to see the positives in the albums I haven't enjoyed so much, and almost all of the time I can get why other people would. But it's genuinely incomprehensible to me why anyone would actually chose to listen to something like this. Sorry to those who do :(

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jul 04 2026

4.5 Never been a huge personal Jesus fan so wasn't expecting too much but honestly there's so much more to this album, and I actually enjoyed that song more in the context of the rest of it

Parklife by Blur
Jul 05 2026

4.5 Not as consistent as MLIR, but maybe the highest highs of any blur album

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Jul 06 2026

4.5 Was surprised that this was on the list over Ironman which was the album of his I'd heard before (and is great) but honestly this is fantastic too so fair enough

Harvest by Neil Young
Jul 07 2026

3.5 Better than on the beach but again Neil's just not doing it for me, at least to the level that some people have him as

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Jul 08 2026

3.5 Really interesting album, I'm glad I listened as it's truly something different. But several of the songs let it down a bit, and not all of the style shifts fully work I feel

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Jul 09 2026

2 One of my least favourites so far. So many times where he's just playing the same bloody chord over and over and it goes on and on and...

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
Jul 10 2026

4 5 First time hearing these guys, definitely will have to give more of their stuff a go

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jul 11 2026

3.5 I still love sweet child o mine but honestly a bit tired of paradise city and welcome to the jungle and the rest of the album isn't quite on the level of those songs. Not bad or anything but not something I'd really chose to listen through as a whole again really

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Jul 12 2026

3.5 Not sure how I feel about this. There were parts that were amazing, parts where I honestly felt a little nauseous. Definitely a really interesting work though

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Jul 13 2026

4.5 Short album but really lively, the story behind it is incredible too

The Doors by The Doors
Jul 14 2026

4 Enjoyed much more than LA woman, this is a lot fresher. Im definitely not gonna point any 60s rockstar towards any little girls though

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jul 15 2026

4 She's got a great voice and some really good song choices here, I know she didn't write them herself but that's hardly unusual for the time to be fair

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
