Would be a 5 if most songs weren't covers i think

4 Rest of the album doesn't quite live up to Roundabout but it is one of the best songs ever written to be fair. Still a solid album though

4 A bit inconsistent but the highs are high and the lows not that low

4.5 My least favourite of their first 6 albums but still great

3.5 Could do with being a bit shorter

5 Amazing from start to finish

3.5 Eddie van halen is really talented but at points it seemed he put showing off over the actual music :/ really enjoyed some of these songs though

5 Loved this and never would of heard of these guys otherwise. Requiem is a sick opener and the rest of the album lives up to it

2.5 Really frustrating in that everytime it seemed to be building to something good it just faded out instead. At certain points there also seemed to be one annoying instrument/sound ruining otherwise pleasant music

4.5 Man has a genius for spouting absolute nonsense but convincing you it must somehow be profound

2.5 First 6 songs were alright but usually there was that something holding them back from being really good, maybe the vocals/lyrics? The last song was just ridiculously overindulgent, thought it was starting to drag on by minute 4 and then it lasted 15 more

4 Enjoyed this a lot more than the other electronica albums I've heard. Could still do with trimming down a bit tbh, cut out a few songs.

5 This was great. Bluebird, let me roll it, nineteen hundred and eighty five... wouldn't be at all out of place on any Beatles album quality-wise Third listen and I'm upping it to a 5

2.5 Actually enjoyed this whenever there was no vocals, but his voice was so grating

5 Loved this, new a couple of the songs but was really surprised how strong it was throughout

4 Interesting voice haha, I preferred the more upbeat songs to the slower ballads but still pretty solid throughout

2.5 Enjoy stuff like this far more when the vocalists aren't trying to sound 'scary'

4 Pretty cool for the most part. Could have done with that one song where he's trying to defend his right to beat his wife and hate the gays

4 After the first song I was dreading the rest but after that I actually really enjoyed it. The guy is a really good songwriter and sounding a bit like thom Yorke isn't exactly a bad thing

4 Nice album, wasn't expecting a love song about a trans couple on an 80s punk album

4 First if heard of Costello and tbh his voice is not what I was expecting from a man who kind of looks like woody Allen. Admittedly wasn't huge on the first track but it really got better after that

3 The only two ways I could find to listen to this album were a YouTube playlist complete with ads for online casinos and cat food, or an Internet archive recording intercut with commentary in Spanish. I wasn't sure which of these was closest to how the band originally intended.

4.5 The two longer songs do drag a bit but the shorter ones are all great. Is quite funny that these guys are from california and weren't born anywhere near the bayou

4.5 On first listen I honestly thought this was a bit rubbish but then putting it on again I dont know what I was thinking, its great

3 Can definitely see how influential it's been but really hasn't stood the test of time the way a lot of other 60s stuff has imo

5 Has never been my favorite of theirs but on this listen it really clicked

4 Not quite as good as some of their later stuff but most of the songs are still pretty good and it does have psycho killer

4 Didnt really stand out at all to me on the first listen but on the second time round, this is a genuinely really good album, very varied styles

3 Genuinely better than I was expecting and the best 5/6 songs were pretty good. Unfortunately there were another 4/5 that were just mediocre and a couple that were outright awful. Someone also needs to tell him that songs can be shorter than 5 minutes

5 Beautiful album, she has such a great voice and the whole thing flows so nicely

4 Some great songs on this one, feels like a bit of a random collection though rather than an album that flows together

4 Love the first half but I feel the last 3 songs aren't on the same level

Listened to this once years ago and thought it was mid but listening again now and it's honestly amazing, front to back every song is great

3.5 Starts off with some hits but after that it's a bit safe and uninteresting for the most part, that one peace on earth song made me understand all the anti bono sentiment

2 I get that this was hugely influential and I could see the ways that so many bands i like were inspired, but I just would rather be listening to any of those bands. This sucks. And any good will that it would get from me for the influence is canceled out by John lydon being a complete wanker

4 Liked it, not every song worked for me but most did

5 Love The Who, and this was a great debut, feel like they don't get the respect they deserve because of the Stones and Beatles

4 Definitely reminds me of tears for fears but that's not a bad thing, listened on the way to my sisters wedding so big day was definitely appropriate

4 Don't hate the radio ads concept but I just think the songs aren't quite as strong as my generation (two days ago haha), bar I can see for miles.

4.5 I like Muse, you can definitely hear the Radiohead influence but I think they have a more unique style than people give them credit for, especially on this album
