Reviews (page 8 of 8)
well produced album with some good tracks, but common’s raps and delivery are pretty corny, and this album is reallllly long. 6/10
Some interesting ideas but I didn't think it sounded great and was so long. 5
Good flow and nice background music
Nah
Don't know what to say, this was just awful
3/10. Debated between 3 and 4, but looking at the other threes I've given, this seems reasonable. This album just felt very long and dull, and while it wasn't bad song to song persay, it's not really for me, or at least not for 80 minutes all at once.
Boring
Had some good flooooow. Didn't listen closely, but I liked it and will probably re-listen.
Good but very long
really enjoyed it more than I thought I would
Nope
I wanted to like this. The production is good and the concept is there but it’s way too long. The beats don’t stay fresh over the course of 5-6 minute songs and Common’s delivery is hard to listen to. 5
Naa
Not a fan of albums with the N word so liberally in the lyrics
A lot of this album comes from a place of pain, but it is a thing of beauty. Not as good as Pimp a Butterfly, but still quite remarkable. I, weirdly, mostly know Common as an actor. To hear him in his original environment is a real treat. Not sure that this is my favorite thing ever, but I'm curious to check out the rest of his work.
Solid stuff
Hip hip. Largo, coñazo.
Good compilation of well known songs. But seems like cheeting to call it an album
very good, quite long but good
Not a Common fan. Maybe if I heard this before the Apple commercials and saw all the shitty acting in mainstream movies I would be more open but I'm admittedly biased. It feels like listening to someone who thinks they're very deep and meaningful. I like angry cursing Common in "dooinit"... "The Sixth Sense" and "Thelonoius" are other stand outs. But otherwise not a huge fan. Too much god and shit in the last handful of tracks.
Songs: The Light, The 6th Sense, Nag Champa
The beats on this album are great and I fin it interesting but the rapping is very boring.
Classic
Solid debut. The Light is still a great song. Love the production.
Listened while working, which is probably not the way to listen to rap.
Not what I usually listen to, but I appreciated the complexity of the sound
Classic 80's sound. Love her voice. Full of fun and sad songs
Not super fan of lyrics, but cool rhythms and sounds.
First album I have not heard before. Didn’t vibe couldn’t finish

Some good songs, but overly long and boring
Production: 15/20 Songwriting: 14/20 Innovation: 15/20 Bangers: 20/20 Emotional response: 16/20 =80 Banging stuff
Går inte gilla :/
Very much in my "like" territory as far as hip goes, an artist I haven't listened to enough. Especially effective deployment of guest artists.
Rap is not my music. It has to be special to though me.
Not super impressed, pretty cheesy and empty production
Very good album. Common is definitely underrated.
Impressed that I made it all the way through this one, not my jam. But better than I was expecting
"The Questions" was terrible. Most songs are a bit too heavy in bass to listen to at a comfortable level without disturbing the neighbors. True to it's A Side, "Time Travelin", many references and loops from classic songs. I liked "The 6th Sense" even though the sample was repetitive. I was 10 when this album came out but really impressed by some of the players on the album Ceelo Green and Questlove to name a fee
Very relaxed ambience, but suffers from sounding like one long song instead of an album of songs.
Slow jamming.... altogether nice album for a low key vibe, productive.
Interesting rap album including great songs like the light. Great culture references that cement this album in rap history.
good
Felt very common
Solid, absolutely good tunes.
Awesome album. Introduced me to Common
Mfer is sense. Way too deep for a surface level listen.
Solid, can't remember comments anymore but ya 4.
2000s conscious hip hop
Classic rap, pretty good!
Common has flow but didn’t love the album
Added to my collection. Very chill and conscious lyrically.
An excellent blend of global sounds that feels as important in the 2020 climate as it likely did in the 2000 climate.
lyrically its nice but rap just doesnt seem to inspire me
Spotify. It was fine. Not for me
2.5 I'm so bored by conscious rap
Ægte hiphop, lyrisk, afslappet
Who knew that common the actor could rap so well
R&B
Surprisingly pleasant and skillfully produced hip hop
Not much going on here. Not outright bad, but definitely not good. Just exists, mildly sucking. I kept forgetting it was even on. 2/5.
It was okay, common's rap style is more like reading poetry I feel
some good beats, but god damn common is an ass rapper and some of the content does not age well, some homphobic themes.
Homophobic slur on track 4. Avoid.
