Saint Etienne
2/5
This album was ok. Do I think that it is one of the 1001 albums that I must listen to before I died? No. It was an ok album.

Roxy Music
4/5
This album was more than just appealing for its album cover. The songs on this album were unique and caught my ear. I've never heard of this group or the album or any songs on it. I would listen to this album again.

Jorge Ben Jor
4/5
I was really surprised by how much I liked this album. I also noticed the song Taj Mahal was very close to Da ya think I'm sexy by Rod Stewart. As it turns out Rod Stewart lost a copyright infringement lawsuit over the similarities.

Stereolab
4/5
I enjoyed this album as background music. Too be honest this album could have been in a different language and I wouldn't have noticed. It does have a bizarre sound that I found amusing,

Santana
3/5
Santana is undoubtedly a great guitar player. This album has black magic woman and oye como va. Overall the album isn't that great but santana needs a mention on this list

Franz Ferdinand

Neil Young
4/5
Jerry Lee Lewis
3/5
Typically, I don't care for live albums. The audience noise doesn't add much to the listening experience; however, a live performance does provide insight into the quality of the artist, stripping away the façade of studio production editing. That being said, the songs on this albums sound similar to Jerry Lee Lewis' greatest hits that were recorded in the studio versions, showcasing the skills of a great musician.
The Afghan Whigs
2/5
A frustrated group makes a grunge album. That being said would listen to a couple songs again.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
This album contains some of CCRs greatest hits. The album starts off strong with Ramble Tamble, which has a green grass and high tide guitar sound. The album does not tie the songs together. I can't seem to detect a theme to the album. I really liked this album.
The Cure
2/5
Very eerie album. The singers voice is distinct and recording values clear. Fairly unnoteworthy (irony).
The Cure
2/5
Steve Winwood
4/5
solo artist. great mix of vocals, synths, drums. Really like the songs While you see a chance, arc of a diver, spanish dancer. Created in the artist's home.
Rod Stewart
3/5
I'm not the biggest fan of Rod Stewart. This album features Maggie May, classic. At times this album almost has a folk sound (for lack of more descriptive terms).
Ananda Shankar
3/5
This was probably a celebrated album in the 1970's. The sitar's sound was very unique to the sounds of the day. The album featured a few covers of recently popularized songs. The recording quality is good. Would I pay money to own this album? No.
Erykah Badu
3/5
very soothing album. I would classify the genre as something between soul and jazz. This is not something I would typically listen to, but enjoyed it.
Sufjan Stevens
4/5
I like the sounds of this albums, between the band and the smooth vocals to the piano and chimes. At the heart of this album you have chicago and casimir pulaski day. Both songs deal with care for fellow human beings. The one negative to Sufjan Stevens is the heavy religious undertones, specifically for christianity.
Rod Stewart
2/5
I would classify this album as blues rock. The album starts off strong with gasoline alley. Cut Across Shorty has great blues guitar solos. Otherwise filled with Rod Stewart's raspy voice, which I don't care for. I have a feeling this album won't be too memorable on this list.
The Who
4/5
Wilco
2/5
incorporates the violin in the album. A couple of memorable songs Jesus, ect. Other than that pretty nondescript.
Burning Spear
3/5
average reggae album.
John Cale
4/5
Loved this album. I have never heard any of these songs before. Had a great band and vocals. I would buy this album.
Anthrax
3/5
Heavy Drums and heavy guitars put together with top production quality. Has many pop reference and is a tribute to Cliff Burton. It's definitely a change of pace for this list. Although technically interesting many of the songs blend together.
Stereolab
4/5
I enjoyed this album as background music. Too be honest this album could have been in a different language and I wouldn't have noticed. It does have a bizarre sound that I found amusing,
Elbow
4/5
I really liked this album. I've never heard of the group Elbow before. It seemed like a toned down indie rock album.
Talking Heads
2/5
classic talking heads sounds. I didn't recognize any of the songs on this album. May even be able to dance some of these tunes.
The Cardigans
3/5
Not too band. Includes the cardigans hit lovefool. Also has a interesting cover of iron man. Has the classical cardigans sound
Method Man
2/5
Maybe this album seemed revolutionary for 1994. Maybe the writer of 1001 albums was just sentimental about W-Tang Clan. Ultimately seemed like a very average rap album.
Traffic
2/5
ok folk album. not sure why this is on the list.
The Kinks
2/5
No well known songs by the kinks. Had some bizzare songs like two sisters, but nothing that caught my ear.
Roxy Music
4/5
This album was more than just appealing for its album cover. The songs on this album were unique and caught my ear. I've never heard of this group or the album or any songs on it. I would listen to this album again.
The Go-Go's
4/5
This was a really fun album to listen to. There were some songs that I had heard before. The new wave sound took me back to playing grand theft auto vice city. This was praised as being one of the first new wave albums.
Hawkwind
3/5
Morrissey
3/5
I didn't know any of the songs on this album. I though the first two songs were kinda interesting. I do like the sound of Morrisey's voice.
Dire Straits
3/5
This album has one great dire straits song. Ultimately the album swung wildly between different genres of songs. At the time Dire Straits was still finding their footing.
Deerhunter
2/5
I really liked the song desire lines, I will say that it gets boring near the end. The rest of the album is ok.
Bauhaus
2/5
This is industrial rock, which is ok in my book; however every song sounded the same.
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
This album features great horn pieces with that distinct sound of the band. This band is best known for come on Eileen.
Willie Nelson
2/5
Willie sings a few pop standards. His distinct vocals and guitar playing, created his take on some songs. Unfortunately, this isn't very original.
Bee Gees
3/5
Average Bee Gee album. Does include some songs that are known. This album may have brought them onto the world stage, but was not part of their disco era releases that they are most well known for.
Scott Walker
3/5
This album started off strong with Jackie. There were some other songs that were very entertaining. Scott Walker has a very pop crooner sound. The band is a welcome change in this list. The last few songs kind of blended together and some songs were covers. Making this album only average.
Quicksilver Messenger Service
3/5
Some interesting songs on this album, including who do you love. Other than that many songs blended together.
Grateful Dead
3/5
This album was a little slow for me. This just is grateful dead style. I did like friend of the devil and ripple.
Kraftwerk
4/5
I have heard other songs by this group before. I liked the songs on this album. That being said, for the time this was probably a great album. Now this kind of blends in.
Joni Mitchell
4/5
What a strange album. I love Joni Mitchell's voice. This album is an album that doesn't know it's own genre. I didn't know a single song, but would listen again.
Nirvana
5/5
I like this album. The live aspect wasn't too intrusive. Contained some of Nirvanas best hits.
R.E.M.
2/5
Didn't really know any of the songs on this album and nothing really stuck out. Classic REM sound. probably could be better albums for this list.
Fairport Convention
2/5
Sounded like their influences (Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell). You will truely believe why they are called the british Jefferson Airplane. Other than that, the album isn't very interesting.
Iron Maiden
4/5
Very much enjoyed this album. Love the 80's rock. This was softer than the Anthrax album. Included great hits like run for the hills and children of the damned.
Nick Drake
3/5
This album was a pretty interesting folk album. Day is gone has a stairway to heaven sound to it. I also liked the song fruit tree.
LCD Soundsystem
3/5
I enjoyed listening to this album. I liked someone great, all my friends, and New York I love you but you're bringing me down.
Bob Marley & The Wailers

3/5

4/5
Didn't know a single song on this album. I like many of the tunes though. Would listen again!

2/5
This album was ok. Do I think that it is one of the 1001 albums that I must listen to before I died? No. It was an ok album.

4/5
They played at Cornell when I was an undergrad. Very interesting albums with three big songs. Would listen again.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
3/5
This album was interesting. It featured Janis Joplin with a raspy voice. Had two different songs that I recognized. Other than that she went from this into her solo artist career. Probably a good move.
Shuggie Otis
2/5
ok album. Just not one of the top 1001 albums that I needed to listen to before I died.
The Replacements
3/5
I've never heard this album before or any songs on it. pretty good punk rock album.
Beatles
5/5
this album has many of the great songs from the Beatles. It is fit together in a continuous way. Really a great album to own.

3/5
This album does have some of the Beastie Boys greatest hits. There sound is very unique and mix genres of rap, punk, rock, and blues. Sometimes incorporating classical string instruments. Would I want to own this full album? Probably not.

1/5
I was glad when this album was over. Not that the music was bad, but it was so much saxophone.

3/5
this was an ok album. has come on eileen. spotify doesn't seem to have all the songs. makes it hard to rate.
Korn
2/5
Though many kids talked about this album due to it's shock value. They didn't consider how shock value becomes irrelevant as something more shocking comes out. This album probably will not stand this test of time.

3/5
blonde is a very talented song writer. This album has heart of glass. Other than that, a very average album.

3/5
free expression not covered up other instruments or production values. Just a man and an acoustic guitar.
