1001 Albums Summary

Typically, I don't care for live albums. The audience noise doesn't add much to the listening experience; however, a live performance does provide insight into the quality of the artist, stripping away the façade of studio production editing. That being said, the songs on this albums sound similar to Jerry Lee Lewis' greatest hits that were recorded in the studio versions, showcasing the skills of a great musician.

A frustrated group makes a grunge album. That being said would listen to a couple songs again.

This album contains some of CCRs greatest hits. The album starts off strong with Ramble Tamble, which has a green grass and high tide guitar sound. The album does not tie the songs together. I can't seem to detect a theme to the album. I really liked this album.

Very eerie album. The singers voice is distinct and recording values clear. Fairly unnoteworthy (irony).

solo artist. great mix of vocals, synths, drums. Really like the songs While you see a chance, arc of a diver, spanish dancer. Created in the artist's home.

I'm not the biggest fan of Rod Stewart. This album features Maggie May, classic. At times this album almost has a folk sound (for lack of more descriptive terms).

This was probably a celebrated album in the 1970's. The sitar's sound was very unique to the sounds of the day. The album featured a few covers of recently popularized songs. The recording quality is good. Would I pay money to own this album? No.

very soothing album. I would classify the genre as something between soul and jazz. This is not something I would typically listen to, but enjoyed it.

I like the sounds of this albums, between the band and the smooth vocals to the piano and chimes. At the heart of this album you have chicago and casimir pulaski day. Both songs deal with care for fellow human beings. The one negative to Sufjan Stevens is the heavy religious undertones, specifically for christianity.

I would classify this album as blues rock. The album starts off strong with gasoline alley. Cut Across Shorty has great blues guitar solos. Otherwise filled with Rod Stewart's raspy voice, which I don't care for. I have a feeling this album won't be too memorable on this list.

incorporates the violin in the album. A couple of memorable songs Jesus, ect. Other than that pretty nondescript.

average reggae album.

I was really surprised by how much I liked this album. I also noticed the song Taj Mahal was very close to Da ya think I'm sexy by Rod Stewart. As it turns out Rod Stewart lost a copyright infringement lawsuit over the similarities.

Loved this album. I have never heard any of these songs before. Had a great band and vocals. I would buy this album.

Heavy Drums and heavy guitars put together with top production quality. Has many pop reference and is a tribute to Cliff Burton. It's definitely a change of pace for this list. Although technically interesting many of the songs blend together.

I enjoyed this album as background music. Too be honest this album could have been in a different language and I wouldn't have noticed. It does have a bizarre sound that I found amusing,

Maybe this album seemed revolutionary for 1994. Maybe the writer of 1001 albums was just sentimental about W-Tang Clan. Ultimately seemed like a very average rap album.

No well known songs by the kinks. Had some bizzare songs like two sisters, but nothing that caught my ear.

This album was more than just appealing for its album cover. The songs on this album were unique and caught my ear. I've never heard of this group or the album or any songs on it. I would listen to this album again.

This was a really fun album to listen to. There were some songs that I had heard before. The new wave sound took me back to playing grand theft auto vice city. This was praised as being one of the first new wave albums.

I didn't know any of the songs on this album. I though the first two songs were kinda interesting. I do like the sound of Morrisey's voice.

This album has one great dire straits song. Ultimately the album swung wildly between different genres of songs. At the time Dire Straits was still finding their footing.

Average Bee Gee album. Does include some songs that are known. This album may have brought them onto the world stage, but was not part of their disco era releases that they are most well known for.

This album started off strong with Jackie. There were some other songs that were very entertaining. Scott Walker has a very pop crooner sound. The band is a welcome change in this list. The last few songs kind of blended together and some songs were covers. Making this album only average.

BB King is a great blues singer and guitarist. This is just a showcase of his work. His best album? No idea.

Souixsie Souixe has a very strong set of vocals. The album contains Hong Kong Garden which is has unique guitar riffs.

I liked this album. I was very surprised by the number of songs that I knew. Although the production value may not be that good. Often times saturating microphones with sound, it just adds to the raw rock sound of the kinks.
