Kanye West
5/5
Phenomenal record. I just wish the man himself was as quality a person as this music is.

Napalm Death
2/5
Pretty damn fun to listen to, but probably never again for me. I do really enjoy hearing these "proto-" and influential records of genres I'm unfamiliar that this list is littered with. This is one of the main reasons I'm here. Even if I'm giving it a lower rating, I'm still glad I heard this than yet another standard sounding 60's pop album this list is chock full of.

Yes please. So very pleasant and I believe wholly met Eno's goal of creating music equally interesting and ignorable.

Janis Joplin
4/5
Really, really good. That voice. And as always, fuck heroin.
Carpenters

U2
2/5
U2 is always going to be just fine for me. They're just fine.
Thundercat
4/5
This is fucking great. Smooth, funky, modern. We'll worth the inclusion on this list.
Jane's Addiction
3/5
Not bad. Jane Says and The Mountain Song are still great.
Talking Heads
4/5
If I wasn't but a child in the 80's, I'd like to think I would've been a Talking heads superfan. Just great music.

Not bad. Some weird ass folk music. But not super memorable for me.
Tracy Chapman
4/5
I adore Fast Car and I'm so glad I finally listened to this album. Phenomenal.
Fever Ray
3/5

4/5
It's hard to separate the man from the musician, but this album is great despite being made by a shitty person.
Bill Evans Trio
3/5
Jazz is fun
Gene Clark
2/5
This album is exceedingly mediocre, and the guy doesn't have the best or even memorable singing voice.
Little Richard
4/5
Just great. What a treat, what an artist.
Cee Lo Green
2/5
Pretty fun. Need a half star here, this album is right at 2.5 for me.
Van Halen
5/5
Panama is one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Diamond Dave is magnetic and magnificent. Eddie just fucking rips and his guitar makes me unbelievably happy.
B.B. King
2/5
Solid live blues record. Fun. 2.5 stars for me if I could.
Beatles
3/5
Fun listen. Not too many hits that I recognized and that's just fine. I have a feeling I'm going to like the late era Beatles more than the early stuff.
Public Enemy
4/5
Great album, classic hip-hop
The Clash
4/5
Classic. Joe Strummer's voice is electric.
Soundgarden
5/5

The Flaming Lips
3/5
Pretty fun little record.
Wu-Tang Clan
4/5
Legit classic. This record still hits hard as fuck.
Solomon Burke
4/5

3/5
Nice. Just exceedingly nice. The whole record put me in a good mood.
Pavement
3/5
Really dope album
Ray Charles
2/5
I'm surprised I didn't love this album. Just didn't resonate with me like I figured it would. Just felt old-timey and not in a good way
Sleater-Kinney
4/5
Frickin' dope. I am now a riot grrrl!
Judas Priest
3/5
Rob Halford just fucking wails!
The Offspring
5/5
The first CD I ever owned. It brings me back to that specific moment in time, even after all these years. It's affirming to me that I have good enough taste for this record to be on this list.
Pink Floyd
3/5
Great, genius, legendary... But a bit played out. I couldn't help but let my fatigue affect my rating but I still know this is over if the best.
Air
4/5
So calm and cool. Great to listen to when hanging out with my baby boy.
4/5
The weirdest artist in popular music. A true one-of-a-kind and someone we'll never see again. Just legendary.
Arrested Development
2/5
Doesn't quite hold up to it's legendary status, as I had hoped for. The jams still sound great, the message is still on point, but I wasn't as enthused as I thought I would be.
Public Enemy
3/5
Pretty solid, Bring the Noise is a great little time capsule to the beginning of rap/rock.
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
Greatest harmonies in pop history.
Peter Frampton
3/5
The definition of classic.
The B-52's
4/5

Lush vocals, great musicianship. What more could you want?
Pet Shop Boys
2/5
Not too shabby, quite listenable.
Syd Barrett
2/5
I liked some of the songs, but there were some total turds on here. I prefer Donovan when feeling these vibes.
Ghostface Killah
3/5
Fresh beats, tight rhymes. What more could you ask for?
Eric Clapton
2/5
It's fine, I guess. Doubt I'll listen again. I'm just not finding much remarkable about this. Maybe it was great at some point, but now it's merely just good, at best.
Don McLean
2/5
The title track is still so fucking good, and much of this record is pretty good. But it drags and by the end I'm tuning out.
Ray Charles
4/5
Just a phenomenal talent and Ray shines on this release. True legend, true genius.
Derek & The Dominos
3/5
Really good Clapton
Scott Walker
1/5
Yeah, not impressed. This is pretty vanilla. Not bad, but isn't floating my boat at all.
The Pretty Things
1/5
I'm happy to have listened to what's considered the first concept album, but this is some lesser 60's pop rock and this list is chock full of lots of the same. My burnout of more of the same from this era is definitely affecting my rating here.
Pixies
4/5
I'm quickly becoming a huge Pixies fan. Just legendary tunes and so amazingly different than anything else out there.
Badly Drawn Boy
2/5
Not too shabby. Although the guy's voice sounds like if I was singing, it's still a decent listen.
Björk
4/5
Pure magic. Such a treat. Mesmerizing.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
2/5
Pretty weird, fairly entertaining, lots of synth, probably won't ever listen to it again (but I'm glad I did)
Hole
5/5
I've been waiting for this generator to give me more stuff like this. This is my groove, my era. I want to live inside the 90's and never leave. This album hits every level of alt-rock greatness and just demolishes.
Johnny Cash
5/5
A true legend, a phenomenal performance. The stars aligned perfectly to make this perfect album, a snapshot in time of an artist's career unlike any other.
The Divine Comedy
2/5
Grand and pompous (in the best possible sense of the term). Fun to listen to but I don't see myself revisiting it.
Finley Quaye
2/5
Dope album of modern reggae. I was really groovin' on this one.
Stereo MC's
3/5
Not bad. Kinda like a proto-, poppies version of Thievery Corporation. Connected is still a banger!
Fatboy Slim
4/5
Just really good electro-dancepop that is chock full of earworms and bangers. If I would consider the transcendent music videos, if give it another star.
AC/DC
3/5
Classic rock, classic tunes. More than a bit overplayed at this point, but there's a reason for that. I don't get all jazzed up like some for AC/DC but I get why they do.
Portishead
4/5
Yes please. I love everything about Portishead, it's my kind of stuff.
Van Morrison
4/5
Despite being a conspiracy theory dumbass, that record is still great.
The Zombies
4/5
British Beach Boys! Yay! Great album, fun listen and Time of the Season is still phenomenal!
The Teardrop Explodes
2/5
I'm not hearing anything mind blowing on this first listen. Not doing it for me.
Oasis
3/5
Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting considering all the accolades. I really enjoyed this but I know others like a lot more than I do.
Dusty Springfield
3/5
Fantastic! Those pipes are legendary, can't wait for more Dusty.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Pretty good Stones record.
Ray Price
4/5
I'm really digging this classic country. I'm so glad records like this are included in this list. It's a refreshing break from the constant onslaught of 60's-era rock this list is littered with.
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
1/5
I question this record's inclusion on this list. I was not impressed. I guess for historical context it's here, but this was not a legendary listening experience for me.
The Monks
4/5
Now this is why I'm here. Finding albums like this is what makes all this worthwhile. This guy's singing voice is so original and I Frickin' loved this listening experience.
Venom
1/5
Glad to have heard it, doubt I'll listen again.
Basement Jaxx
3/5
Really solid electro goodness. Freaking weird in the best way.
Haircut 100
2/5
Totally fine, bit I've "heard" this before. Every pop band from the 80's sounds the same to me and they're all not that great. Bonus point awarded for the great sax play.
Meat Loaf
2/5
Fun to listen to but another I won't again.
Bruce Springsteen
2/5
Just fine
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Yes please! Such a great record. Just classic.
Black Flag
3/5
Phenomenal. Just great.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
Phenomenal. These songs still ring true and clear all these years later.
The Verve
2/5
Doesn't do it for me. The singles are still pretty good but Bittersweet Symphony has been so overplayed for me that I can't give it the justice it deserves. This me, this is just lesser Oasis and Blur.
Primal Scream
2/5
Fine, I guess. But it's unremarkable to my ears.
Manic Street Preachers
3/5
Better than I thought it was going to be.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
4/5
My kind of country
Buzzcocks
3/5
The Jesus And Mary Chain
2/5
Steely Dan
3/5
I do love me some Steely Dan, and this record's sound reminds me a lot of CSN&Y. Not as many hits as other Steely Dan albums though.
Suede
2/5
Aerosmith
3/5
Sweet Emotion is still a classic banger, that intro and bass especially
Killing Joke
4/5
Chicago
4/5

Mott The Hoople
2/5
Rush
4/5

Fishbone

5/5
One of the best metal records ever.

Ramones
5/5
Just one of the best rock records ever. That's all.
Adam & The Ants
3/5
So much better than I anticipated.
Soft Cell
2/5
Tainted Love is one of the best cover songs ever, but the rest of this record just doesn't hold up for me. I'm pretty much all out on New Wave at this point.
Billy Bragg
5/5
Fan-fucking-tastic! I had heard a lot of these songs before but didn't know anything about them or the artists involved. What a phenomenal record, one I'll now be spinning the rest of my life.
Jamiroquai
4/5
Just some perfect chilled out funk. Loves me some Jamiroquai
The Police
4/5

Bert Jansch

Decent
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
So good, still to this day. I love the low-fi, stripped down production that you just don't hear anymore.
R.E.M.
4/5
Just a great listen and an all-timer right here. The jams are pure gold and the lesser tracks aren't faster behind. Great record.
Neil Young
5/5
Phenomenal folk from the Canadian master.
Tito Puente
5/5
I'm obliged to award this top-notch album record for both it's high quality and it's counter programming on this list dominated by 60's folk and pop-rock. A big part of that is because this reference is so light on music like this that only the best are able to be included. All that aside, this is wonderful music and from note one I had a smile on my face.
Sly & The Family Stone
5/5
Such a great record. As someone like me who isn't well versed in many of the classics, it's a treat to hear some many of the original sounds that are so we'll sampled in today's music. Obviously Sly & Co. have had such an impactful effect on so many of my favorite artists.
Prince

Al Green
4/5
Great soul record with an an time great title track.
Incubus
5/5
One of my personal favorite record ever. This brings me back to the era of my life when music finally made sense and my love affair with music began. For all, those formative years of middle and high school mean so much when it comes to cementing what it means to be "good music" and I'm thankful for records like these to paint the the listing picture of my youth.
Nina Simone
2/5
Legendary voice. Legendary woman.
Guns N' Roses
4/5

Randy Newman
3/5
Steely Dan
5/5
Terrible album cover but I really dig this record. I spin it all the time. Top tier.
Electric Light Orchestra

Mr. Blue Sky is still a lot of fun but most of the rest of this album just didn't resonate much with me. I was surprised as I was expecting to be way more into it than it turned out to be.
John Grant

Not my jam
Nico

First album I couldn't finish. It's crap. There's no flow, nothing rhymes, it's not as clever as everyone says it is. It's just talking with music in the background. I mean, he rhymes money with hurry and this shit has a 91 on Metacritic? The hell is going on with this?

My personal musical tastes were forged in the fires of the late nineties and the furnace of Nu-Metal. While there is much of the genre and scene from that era that I cannot atone, I will forever be in debt for the spark this album and others from then ignited in my soul. Despite some abhorrent, deeply misogynistic and homophobic tracks on this record that were juvenile then and appalling now, this is a bonafide 5 stars from me.
It all starts for me with the iconic album cover and artwork from Todd McFarlane. Profound, thought-provoking, and even a little cheesy I just love the mood that it sets for the music within. Being of the CD age, I remember that this album started on track 13 after a minute of silence (something lost as we've transitioned to streaming). As It's On finally kicks in, the ride begins with all the hallmarks of the Korn sound from the chugging dual guitars, to Fieldy's one-of-a-kind bass, to Johnathan Davis' singular voice. Freak on a Leash, Got the Life, Dead Bodies Everywhere and so much more defined the music of my life at that point and they still hit the same today. This was peak cameo/collaboration in rock and metal music and the featuring tracks on this record are sus, for sure (although Earache My Eye is ridiculously fun and an inspired inclusion on this record, if you ask me).
While I have grown and so has my musical palette, I don't listen to this as often as I once did. And while I don't listen to it much these days, I enjoy every moment of the experience when I do. High school is a strange time for all of us and I'm glad I had this album there with me then.

Absolutely legendary. I hated The Beach Boys growing up probably because they were absolutely everywhere and so overplayed in my youth. They were oldies, they were classic, they were not cool.
But time has a way of changing everything and what's old is new again for me. I have finally found peace with my loathe those many years ago and can actually appreciate the genius of this record now. The craftsmanship of every note is pure musical perfection. Every word and lyric is the thread that ties us. Just perfect.
