Pretty damn fun to listen to, but probably never again for me. I do really enjoy hearing these "proto-" and influential records of genres I'm unfamiliar that this list is littered with. This is one of the main reasons I'm here. Even if I'm giving it a lower rating, I'm still glad I heard this than yet another standard sounding 60's pop album this list is chock full of.
Fucking classic. Just a legendary album with many iconic tracks.
I thought I was going to line this more. Psycho Killer is phenomenal but most of the rest was just perfectly fine.
Bang a Gong... So good, didn't even realize it was a T. Rex song. Rest of the album was fine and good but didn't blow me away.
I played it while feeding my baby a bottle. Not a good choice. First track was awesome.
REALLY dig this album. Will give this another spin for sure.
Very fun record! I'm really enjoying this blast from the past.
Surprisingly good. I'm definitely now of the right age to really appreciate this record. Younger me would have hated this.
I don't always want to listen to Rush, but when I do I have a really good time.
Fucking classic. Just a legendary album with many iconic tracks.
Exceedingly pleasant. Classic 60's folk. Nuff said.
Fine record. I didn't want to turn it off, so at least there's that.
This is my kind of album. Really digging it.
Just legendary. This album will make me go back and adjust other albums downward as they do not rise to the same level as this 5-star record.
First band on this app that I've seen live! Another perfectly fine album. I think I'm just more of a Kiss appreciator. Singles are pretty great, there rest doesn't do much for me.
Not bad. Probably won't listen again, but wouldn't be against it.
A little country twang in a couple songs there. Didn't know ol' Tommy had that in him, but I should have. Was really nice to listen to this record.
A step too far for me. Rod Stewart is fine I guess.
Solid crooning, I dig the pipes. Not as many memorable tunes on this record, but still a fun listen
2nd album from a band I've seen live. This record still kicks after all these years. Just fun as fuck.
I mean, come on. This is too easy. Cuh-lassic. Although some of these hits are definitely outdated and the Boys have admitted to as much as well.
I'm liking this album of mostly covers way more than the first Rod Stewart record I got here.
Saw them live opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd. They were better than what Skynyrd has become.
Polly Jean is someone I need to spend a lot more time with. This is good!
Not bad. Like a mix of David Byrne's voice, David Bowie's weirdness, and a little sprinkle of 50's era Rock n Roll
Yes please. So very pleasant and I believe wholly met Eno's goal of creating music equally interesting and ignorable.
I dig it. Spacerock is definitely for me.
Just good ol' Bob. You get exactly what you paid for. Solid.
I don't speak French so I have no clue what was being sung, but I could listen to this all the time
I mean, it is Bob Dylan but there's a lot of Bob Dylan on this list.
This is my kind of weird. Such a cool record. So glad I finally took the time to listen to some Tom Waits.
I'm really enjoying the foreign language records chosen for this book. They're all pretty stellar (imagine that) and I probably would never have listened to them otherwise.
Exceedingly smooth. It's amazing how many of these songs I've heard before and how ingrained they've become in American society.
This is fucking great. Smooth, funky, modern. We'll worth the inclusion on this list.
Not bad. Jane Says and The Mountain Song are still great.
If I wasn't but a child in the 80's, I'd like to think I would've been a Talking heads superfan. Just great music.
Not bad. Some weird ass folk music. But not super memorable for me.
I adore Fast Car and I'm so glad I finally listened to this album. Phenomenal.
Very cool, very weird. Wish I could have this album back in college when more substances could be involved.
It's hard to separate the man from the musician, but this album is great despite being made by a shitty person.
This album is exceedingly mediocre, and the guy doesn't have the best or even memorable singing voice.
Pretty fun. Need a half star here, this album is right at 2.5 for me.
Panama is one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Diamond Dave is magnetic and magnificent. Eddie just fucking rips and his guitar makes me unbelievably happy.
Fun listen. Not too many hits that I recognized and that's just fine. I have a feeling I'm going to like the late era Beatles more than the early stuff.
Great album, classic hip-hop
I'm finally in a place I can enjoy classic country. Still don't vibe much with the modern stuff but the oldies be singing goodie to me these days.
Legit classic. This record still hits hard as fuck.
I'm really digging a lot of the stuff on this list from the 50's. I could play this stuff all day in the house. Soothing, classic sounds can permeate these walls anytime.
Nice. Just exceedingly nice. The whole record put me in a good mood.
I'm surprised I didn't love this album. Just didn't resonate with me like I figured it would. Just felt old-timey and not in a good way
The first CD I ever owned. It brings me back to that specific moment in time, even after all these years. It's affirming to me that I have good enough taste for this record to be on this list.
Great, genius, legendary... But a bit played out. I couldn't help but let my fatigue affect my rating but I still know this is over if the best.
So calm and cool. Great to listen to when hanging out with my baby boy.
The weirdest artist in popular music. A true one-of-a-kind and someone we'll never see again. Just legendary.
Doesn't quite hold up to it's legendary status, as I had hoped for. The jams still sound great, the message is still on point, but I wasn't as enthused as I thought I would be.
Pretty solid, Bring the Noise is a great little time capsule to the beginning of rap/rock.
A true unicorn of a music group. Great record, so much fun, so weird and funky.
Solid debut. The Light is still a great song. Love the production.
I liked some of the songs, but there were some total turds on here. I prefer Donovan when feeling these vibes.
It's fine, I guess. Doubt I'll listen again. I'm just not finding much remarkable about this. Maybe it was great at some point, but now it's merely just good, at best.
The title track is still so fucking good, and much of this record is pretty good. But it drags and by the end I'm tuning out.
Just a phenomenal talent and Ray shines on this release. True legend, true genius.
Yeah, not impressed. This is pretty vanilla. Not bad, but isn't floating my boat at all.
I'm happy to have listened to what's considered the first concept album, but this is some lesser 60's pop rock and this list is chock full of lots of the same. My burnout of more of the same from this era is definitely affecting my rating here.
I'm quickly becoming a huge Pixies fan. Just legendary tunes and so amazingly different than anything else out there.
Not too shabby. Although the guy's voice sounds like if I was singing, it's still a decent listen.
Pretty weird, fairly entertaining, lots of synth, probably won't ever listen to it again (but I'm glad I did)
I've been waiting for this generator to give me more stuff like this. This is my groove, my era. I want to live inside the 90's and never leave. This album hits every level of alt-rock greatness and just demolishes.
A true legend, a phenomenal performance. The stars aligned perfectly to make this perfect album, a snapshot in time of an artist's career unlike any other.
Grand and pompous (in the best possible sense of the term). Fun to listen to but I don't see myself revisiting it.
Dope album of modern reggae. I was really groovin' on this one.
Not bad. Kinda like a proto-, poppies version of Thievery Corporation. Connected is still a banger!
Just really good electro-dancepop that is chock full of earworms and bangers. If I would consider the transcendent music videos, if give it another star.
Classic rock, classic tunes. More than a bit overplayed at this point, but there's a reason for that. I don't get all jazzed up like some for AC/DC but I get why they do.
Yes please. I love everything about Portishead, it's my kind of stuff.
Despite being a conspiracy theory dumbass, that record is still great.
British Beach Boys! Yay! Great album, fun listen and Time of the Season is still phenomenal!
I'm not hearing anything mind blowing on this first listen. Not doing it for me.
Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting considering all the accolades. I really enjoyed this but I know others like a lot more than I do.
Fantastic! Those pipes are legendary, can't wait for more Dusty.
I'm really digging this classic country. I'm so glad records like this are included in this list. It's a refreshing break from the constant onslaught of 60's-era rock this list is littered with.
I question this record's inclusion on this list. I was not impressed. I guess for historical context it's here, but this was not a legendary listening experience for me.
Now this is why I'm here. Finding albums like this is what makes all this worthwhile. This guy's singing voice is so original and I Frickin' loved this listening experience.
Totally fine, bit I've "heard" this before. Every pop band from the 80's sounds the same to me and they're all not that great. Bonus point awarded for the great sax play.
Yes please! Such a great record. Just classic.
Phenomenal. These songs still ring true and clear all these years later.
Doesn't do it for me. The singles are still pretty good but Bittersweet Symphony has been so overplayed for me that I can't give it the justice it deserves. This me, this is just lesser Oasis and Blur.
I do love me some Steely Dan, and this record's sound reminds me a lot of CSN&Y. Not as many hits as other Steely Dan albums though.
Sweet Emotion is still a classic banger, that intro and bass especially
First CD I ever bought with my own money and still one of the best records of my life. I wish I still like Green Day now as much as I did then, but I can still play this album and be transported back to then.
This record still bangs. Besides the great lyrical content I'm really digging the old school beats.
Some of the best metal ever. Glad to see this record included
One of my favorite albums ever. For me, this is where electronic music began.
Tainted Love is one of the best cover songs ever, but the rest of this record just doesn't hold up for me. I'm pretty much all out on New Wave at this point.
Fan-fucking-tastic! I had heard a lot of these songs before but didn't know anything about them or the artists involved. What a phenomenal record, one I'll now be spinning the rest of my life.
Just some perfect chilled out funk. Loves me some Jamiroquai
Most of this record still holds up, but there just a couple duds in my ears. Sting's voice is still one of the greatest ever.
So good, still to this day. I love the low-fi, stripped down production that you just don't hear anymore.
Just a great listen and an all-timer right here. The jams are pure gold and the lesser tracks aren't faster behind. Great record.
I'm obliged to award this top-notch album record for both it's high quality and it's counter programming on this list dominated by 60's folk and pop-rock. A big part of that is because this reference is so light on music like this that only the best are able to be included. All that aside, this is wonderful music and from note one I had a smile on my face.
Such a great record. As someone like me who isn't well versed in many of the classics, it's a treat to hear some many of the original sounds that are so we'll sampled in today's music. Obviously Sly & Co. have had such an impactful effect on so many of my favorite artists.
One of my personal favorite record ever. This brings me back to the era of my life when music finally made sense and my love affair with music began. For all, those formative years of middle and high school mean so much when it comes to cementing what it means to be "good music" and I'm thankful for records like these to paint the the listing picture of my youth.
Still holds up. Great fucking metal album. Slash is a guitar god and I finally got to see them all just a few days ago.
Terrible album cover but I really dig this record. I spin it all the time. Top tier.
Mr. Blue Sky is still a lot of fun but most of the rest of this album just didn't resonate much with me. I was surprised as I was expecting to be way more into it than it turned out to be.
Just a transcendent hip-hop record that still feels groundbreaking 25 years later.
Decent 80's pop with tons of early hip-hop influences. Fun little trip.back.in time for me with this one.
I'm really glad I finally took the time to listen to this record. That voice and everything behind it is so hauntingly beautiful.
The title track is still phenomenal, but the rest of this record doesn't do much for me.
First album I couldn't finish. It's crap. There's no flow, nothing rhymes, it's not as clever as everyone says it is. It's just talking with music in the background. I mean, he rhymes money with hurry and this shit has a 91 on Metacritic? The hell is going on with this?
Novocaine For the Soul is a fantastic 90's alt-rock for me, but I wanted to be blown away by the rest of this album and didn't quite get there.
Great Beach Boys record. I've really come to appreciate them at this stage in my life and recognize them for their innovation and talent now where I loathed them growing up.
Unassailably incredible. One of the greatest records ever with the sales to back it up.
I mean, was there any other choice and 5 stars? Still probably the greatest pop record ever.
I liked it a lot more than I thought I would and it was a more varied record than I anticipated.
Phenomenal record. I just wish the man himself was as quality a person as this music is.
Much better than I would ever give them credit for. The hits are hits for a reason.
I had never heard of this band before and I am really digging this record. I'm surprised I'm connecting with it so much as I usually don't with this kind of rock but it's a great indie/alt album.
Weirdly I couldn't stream the first 3 songs of this album on Spotify, but the last ones were dope especially If You Think You're Lonely Now.
This album gets 4/5 just got Bohemian Rhapsody alone. The rest of the record easily takes it over the top.
Better than I thought it was going to be. I really enjoyed it and gotta give it another spin.
Such a great, diverse, funky record. One of my faves from my fave Scientologist.
I'm surprised I've never heard of Mike Ladd before, but this album is right up my alley. Very Swayze!
This is why I'm really enjoying the experience of going through this list. I never expected anything like this from the Bee Gees. I'm so grateful to have discovered this side of a group that I previously had only a singular vision of. Very cool.
Way better than I thought it was going to be. I was very surprised to see this one pop up as I never gave a 2nd thought to this band past Scooby Snacks. But this was a pretty diverse sounding record with lots of smooth grooves and jazz inflections.
