Only listened through once before today. I am looking forward to it! Really enjoyable. We listened to it as a class while doing review work. I am not sure when the last time is I heard the titular song, but it was memorable this time.
he tornat. cançons bastant xules i com q no cansaven i tal. overall bo pero ns si lescoltaria x sempre. AH, surt our house,,, quina sorpresa que no fos la que CONEC LOL pero ns la tenía guardada pensant q era aquella memeooo. melodies molt xules la vd , bon descobriment !
There were a few really good songs like the title track and Woodstock but some of them I liked but just felt like they were laking a feel
Earnest hippie anthems sung in dazzling barbershop harmony. The beautiful sound almost makes you forget the frequent vapidity of the subject matter. Almost docked a star for being responsible for much of the wimp rock that permeated the rest of the decade.
Whoa is not all harmonies. Thays what this band minus young was to me at least. And they are beautiful harmonies dont get me wrong. Its just nice to see them doing is a but differnt. Evolving. Changing. Its nice. They are still here so dont worry. Our house is an oldie but a goodie. Probably their most famous song. And for good reason. But ther are some more rocking tracks too. Some more bluesy stuff. It gives the record some more depth. Versatility. Im also a fan of helpless and teach your children. Just good ass songs. And everything else is good too. Not as standout as those but solid all around. I think after hearing the first record by Crosby stills and Nash i like this one ever so slightly more. But they are extremely close in quality. The first has more of what they do best and this has more doing well in adjacent lanes.
Classic group. Great harmonies. Good, enjoyable listen. 4/5
Hmm, this one should be good. It is good, but not the folk-rock masterpiece many say it is. Harmonies only really appear towards the album's beginning, but they're strong when they do appear. The lyrics are pretty strong in places, but not quite Bob Dylan level. This album is not as good as Neil Young solo, but better than Stephen Stills solo.
Feel like I've heard this one before. I may have this one in the inherited record stack.
This is just a hard album to dislike. Fun, breezy, nice to listen to. You could put this on at anytime and have a good time. 7/10
I liked this!! It was very folky with a lot of acoustic and some electric guitar. The harmonies were also pretty good and I liked how everyone’s voices melded together. There were also some pretty beautiful songs and lyrics here to. I especially liked our house and 4+20. I would definitely listen again, this is very much up my alley. 4.113/5
Although I've never made an effort to listen to this record on its own, there are quite a few songs that I already knew as I listened to it. I typically associate the group with folk rock and that certainly is an important element, but the opening song was a bit more psychedelic and there is also some R&B inflected rock as well. This is a really popular record and I can see why. There's some real talent here and some memorable songs. For me, its listenable and I certainly wouldn't complain about hearing it, but its also something that I really wouldn't seek out.
Meh
Grande disco, per me uno dei migliori di sempre.
calm! liked it
The harmonies are undeniable. And there are some songs on here that I was aware of where it was "Oh, okay, I didn't know who did this song..." which is pretty cool. The outro on Deja Vu is pretty cool. Woodstock is a good song. Our House is cheesy but whatever. Admittedly, this album was better than I thought it'd be and I'm close to giving it a 4. But being honest with myself, I'd probably never want to listen to this again on my own. I've got a lot of respect for the musicanship, glad I listened to it but I'm not gonna listen to it again.
Straight banger album. Didn't expect much but it was great. The marriage of styles works so good here. Almost Cut My Hair was my fav song and first listen of the album. Woodstock and Country Girl were my other highlights
Solid album, great harmonies and enjoyable music. Nothing groundbreaking to me
banger
Sounds like the Eagles, except with Neil Young. It's very okay & unmemorable.
It's quite lovely.
This album was nice. I didn't like it as much as the other CSN album I had so far, but it was still really good. I particularly liked "Teach Your Children".
I don't know, with such group members I kinda expected a bit more. I liked the music, but the themes were forced into it. Guitar riffs and solos back up it a bit but not enough.
Never listened to this album all the way through but it’s a sneaky banger. They did a great job of not sounding too “one note” throughout the album, which I think happens a lot more in modern day music. Favorite songs: Almost Cut My Hair, Our House, and Everybody I Love You.
As far as records on this list go, I enjoyed this and 3 felt too low compared to lesser albums I've given 3's to
The super group of the day lol. Such a nice album! Makes me think Neil Young can sing lol
Easy five stars. Four world class musicians, the sum being greater than the individual parts. Simply one of the greatest albums of all time
TIL Joni Mitchell wrote "Woodstock" and the "our house is a very very very fine house" song is Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. 'Our House' is one of those things that only existed in my second-hand cultural context - I've heard it but have no idea where I've heard it. I thought it was from the 80s. Turns out, no, it's just me that's from the 80s.
Neil young was such a great addition to the already great Crosby stills and Nash, and this will be a record I will be listening on repeat in the future.
Good but I probably need to sit with it a little longer
Album 342. Deja Vu — Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (1970) It's technically great and it's a classic. But somehow I expected more and didn't get what I wanted. Even though it's great, it was actually hard to listen to..too whiny. I'm not surprised and anyway it's... 4/5 Liked: — Carry On — Almost Cut My Hair — Our House — 4 + 20 — Country Girl
Umm, some good ones but horribly overrated I feel. It's very smug.
This was such a formative piece of work for me. It absolutely holds up a stone cold classic - not a single miss on here.
I grew up with a bunch of weed smoking Indiana folks in my family so quite a few of these songs are familiar to me in some capacity. Not bad for something I'm not really into at all, I like it when Neil Young isn't singing because his voice is grating at best lmao. The harmony gets old after a while.
I own this one. I am a fan but not a huge one but there are a lot of great times on this album.
Before listening to this today I would've said I prefer the first album but after this relisten I finally understand why this one is more popular. Although, I wouldn't say there's any truly amazing songs on this they're all of a high quality. I'd say My favourites are Carry On, Almost Cut My Hair, and Country Girl.
WE ALREADY LISTENED TO THIS >:(
Ok
I liked this album. It had a couple of songs I was familiar with and I enjoyed those but I really enjoyed the playing on this album. I’m glad I heard it.
Surprisingly the first of all four together rather than some mix of the four or solo. Young continues to show out to me amongst the rest!!
This album shines in the vocal harmony tracks. The others just don't feel like what I expect, what I want, of CSN&Y. Having said that, this is some truly high quality late 60s/early 70s folk rock. The Young tracks, Helpless and Country Girl, don't fit the airiness of rest of the album. Those tracks feel a bit more... Well they sound very, very Neal Young. Kinda feels like they drag down the rest of the album. It's 10 songs, but such a short album. I was getting into the groove and then it's just done.
Thought this was ok
I will never tire of listening to this album - it's a perfect record. It's so completely captivating and spellbinding. It's not just those legendary vocal harmonies either - the music, the band and their playing... it's all just so utterly perfect. I really can't explain why I love this record so much, I can only gush superlatives. It's probably best if I don't even try, and instead just shut up and listen to it again.
I cannot think of a better harmonizing group. There are greats, but they take a huge leap forward from them here. Wonderful arrangements and composition. Truly a classic and unique sound.
This album is a very very very fine album.
Neil Young just speaks to my soul. The other guys are good too.
An album that felt like it took a lot of the best sounds of the 60s and put them together pretty effectively. Eagles without the repetition, S&G without getting too weepy, stones and Beatles vibes without being overly poppy or rocky. Easy to listen to and happily gave it a couple of listens to get a proper sense of it.
Interesting collage of artists. I think it's pretty successful, as the fluidity of the album isn't destroyed by the contrasting styles or vocals to any meaningful degree. It seems to have a consistent backbone in that sense. Not sure it should work. In just the first four songs, you have a tight, harmonic Simon & Garfunkel-style track with a heavy blues tone (Teach Your Children), then a more unpredictable rock edge (Almost Cut My Hair), before dive-bombing in with the Neil Young vocal hammer of Helpless. I think the first song is a combination of much of what comes after and has a more upbeat, energetic production. Not sure the quality holds out across the entire album, but these guys clearly know how to have a good time, and there are plenty of complementary skills on offer here. It makes for an interesting album that I'm pleased to have come across, even if I don't love all of it.
An album that has many faces and moves through a few styles. In fact it's an odd hodgepodge of songs, some fantastic and others less so. Covering some classic genres and sounds of the sixties. I prefer them in their blues/rock mode and have less interest in the pure americana/country tracks, although there is something nostalgic about the harmonising vocals. There is also just about an acceptable level of Neil Young's singing. I remember being on holiday as a kid and discovering a warped old vinyl single in the accommodation. Intrigued, I put it onto the record player and it was "Almost Cut My Hair". I remember instantly thinking it was a great track and have thought so since, but it's interesting how different it feels in vibe to the rest of this album. In 36 minutes the album manages to serve almost as a showcase of a few late sixties sounds. Perhaps not a favourite for personal listening but it still sounds great and significant over 50 years on.
Truly a great album!
Honestly, sounds like every other soft rock album out there, genuinely makes me want to revise the score I gave to velvet underground, looking back at it, it's way more unique. That being said, it's not bad, it just sounds like everything that came after it in it's own genre (a recurring theme with older albums, it seems), good but quite generic and a little bland. 3.4
I get that a lot of people like this but it just seems so ... boring to me. Our house is cute but I don’t see myself listening to it again.
classic album. crosby, stills and nash already rules and then you also get neil young?! not fair. killer harmonies. great tunes.
Honestly, haven't heard much of Crosby, Stills & Nash or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young so I was excited about giving it a listen. I like their music but not their stance against the Oxford comma. 1.) Carry On: I like the heavy strumming on this one. Good harmony, reminds me of Yes. I like the break on this one, got some funk. 2.) Teach Your Children: Not sure if I like the singing style of the 2nd part. Kinda weird song to promote not asking why. 3.) Almost Cut My Hair: I like the beginning Pink Floyd-esque riff. Don't know if I like this one or not but let your freak flag fly. I like the guitar riffs but not sure about the lyrics. 4.) Helpless: O no, a song about Canada. Fine song. Not the biggest Neil Young fan but this was good. 5.) Woodstock: You know I have a terrible taste in music when I immediately thought the intro guitar riff was from the Lowe's ads. Would be a good song to sell a new set of Kobalt impact wrench. I like this one. I like any song that references that we are space dust. 6.) Deja Vu: I like the staccato use of this song mixed with elongated measures. I like the blues guitar incorporated in the background. Good experimentation on this one. 7.) Our House: This is the only song on this album that I have heard before. Its a good one, especially fits this fall season. 8.) 4 + 20: I like this song. It reminds of Townes Van Zandt. Was intrigued on the background of this song so I looked it on Genius and all I could find was "this shit slaps" 9.) Country Girl: This isn't country, not one mention of a pickup truck. I like it, it did feel a tad bit long though. 10.) Everybody I Love You: I like this one, had a different sound from the previous song. Upbeat bass and beat on this one. Kinda reminds me of Chicago on this one.
Wow... fue escuchar wish you were here mezclado con algo de los beach boys... genuinamente quedé encantado con el disco
The first song was actually quite decent, but then it, again, went back to the usual country slop, which I personally can't stand. Okay, there are some a bit more interesting songs later on. I'm gonna give it two stars for those songs making this a tolerable listen.
Solid album, really enjoyed it overall! Some of the songs are fully immersive for me but the big songs are great. It’s cohesive enough to be 4, almost 5 star
I believe this is the group's finest statement
Masterclass. Not one flaw. Most beautiful harmonies, wonderful melodies, beautiful lyrics all so comfy and familiar, part of that patchwork of my childhood. Every note a gift. Do I need to mention the musical journey thru these tracks oh the joy! Woodstock - some of these lyrics are etched onto a big fat stone at Princeton U, right in the middle of campus - we've got to get ourselves back to the gaaaaaaardeeeen... the only crime, one of my beloved faves is the finisher Everybody I Love You - such a sweet, super charged track, packing such a joyful punch, but only 2:22 min it should be at least twice that (heart heart heart)
Comfort food. It taps into something known, something secure. It nourishes a part of you way down deep inside.
I have been advised not to give this album anything but a five star review. I'm just going to go with that.
Reallly good. Probably a generous 5 on the strength of a few songs and the potential for me to like it even more. Relisten necessary. RYM: Y (#902) Saved a song: Y
It’s hard to rate something that I’ve known since it came out. There’s a few classic songs on this album and a bit of filler.
Thinking of recording an album called “Gaslight” and telling all my friends they’ve heard it before
I found this album extremely charming and relaxing on what was a difficult day. I love Neil Young's voice so much
Not my fave sound
I feel like I'm supposed to appreciate this album, but it sounds cliche, maybe Seinfeld effect.
me gusto mucho
Great guitar, great harmonizing vocals. Reminds me of my dad.
I really love "our house" - I might go listen to it again!
It has a couple solid songs, but nothing that blows me away and it won't be something i spend additional time with.
don't care about folk
Some quite boring standard country stuff interlaced with pretty decent rock.
Lovely folk rock Just a fun album
Now, this is more like it.
This is a good album from blokes who do what they do well. Never been big on CSNY but actually enjoyed this, particularly Neil Upung’s singing which i’ve never thouggt was amazing until now.
I'm quite familiar with this album. It's solid, and definitely belongs on a list of albums one must hear. The track "Helpless" is great, and this recording isn't even my favorite version of it.
Damn good. With a bunch of great song writers coming together there’s not a lot of fat on this bone. Frankly I could do without Our House but maybe I’ve just heard it too much. Almost cut my hair the unsung hero of the album. All in all though it’s a great record.
This is a 56 year old album at the time of listening. While the absence of technology is apparent it also provides an outstanding testament that there is little substitute for actual songwriting and musicianship. It does sound like its "time" but you experience moments like the end of "Country Girl" and you hear how that "sound" has echoed forward and STILL is heard in songs released today. Not all of it holds up but enough of it does to be impressive.
Excellent album. Where there were a couple of songs on the album that were not immediately familiar. Most of it I grew up with and have very good thoughts and memories about.
Haven't we already had this one?
A Folk Rock Super Group - That should really be up my street! And guess what? It sure is! For a change, I quite enjoy the harmonies of CSN and the songs from Neil Young are excellent as well. This wasn't on Spotify for a while, but it seems to be back. This album is on my record shelf already and I might give it a spin tonight. It's a great 35 minutes, only to be slightly let down by the last 2 songs. So I'll mark it down for that. Sorry guys!
Cowboy shit.
Mitt andra album av detta gänget och detta är ännu bättre än det första. Hade hört Our House förut, men jag uppskattade alla.
AND YOUNG!? name just keeps getting longer lmao
it's nice
Приколдесно как будто фильм гая ричи включил
Solid album with some songs like "Carry On" that stood out to me. Very 70s
Good!
Crosby Stills and Nash are great. But Young can go kick rocks! A southern man don't need him around anyhow. Anyway, this isn't too terrible, just very average. Teach Your Children and Our House are classics that are going on the list though.
Crosby, Stills, & Nash are pretty good. I said what I said.
own this on vinyl
Great album recognised songs I didn’t know they had recorded
Several great songs
Favorite song, 2nd song, did not care much for third. overall decent experience
Our House and Teach Your Children put a real homey vibe on this album. It was slow and good listen for a Saturday afternoon.
It’s ok. 2.5
genius
Deja Vu - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (1970). 6/10. Folk pop, except for the Neil Young tracks.
Loved the house and 20 to 4
I enjoyed this album
