Popular Reviews

With The Beatles by Beatles

It’s The Beatles. I can not be unbiased about them. While this is not my favorite or their best album, it’s still great. I like the Motown covers too. 5/5

Da Capo by Love

This was a big no for me. I was going to give it a 2 because it wasn’t totally unlistenable but then the last track happened and I just couldn’t. 1/5

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan

This hit the spot for me yesterday. I’m not always a big Dylan fan, but I really liked this one. Can’t deny his songwriting and storytelling. 4/5

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jan 03 2026

I’m not always the biggest fan of concept albums and while I respect it, this was still the case here. Sonically I love Pink Floyd and this was no exception, but it was definitely way too long for my tastes. I started getting bored by the end. Overall I’d say 3.5/5.

Close To You by Carpenters
Jan 04 2026

A well executed album. The harmonies, the orchestration are sweeping. Karen’s vocals and drumming are gorgeous. 4/5

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Jan 05 2026

Johnny Cash is a masterful storyteller. June’s addition was great. Overall, I’m not the biggest fan of live albums, especially with a lot of crowd noise and/or interruptions. That took me out of it quite a bit. A couple of the tracks really didn’t work for me either. 3.5/5

Jan 06 2026

This was an unexpected gem for me. I really enjoyed this jazzy, funk soul album. A great groove. 4.5/5

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 08 2026

Not my favorite album by The Cure, but still solid. I love its almost haunting, predatory feel. It always made me think of vampires for some reason. 4/5

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jan 09 2026

This was fine. A pretty standard glam rock album. Nothing about it really stood out in any way. 3/5

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jan 10 2026

This was good, but not great. It had a couple stand-outs. 3.5/5

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
Jan 11 2026

I really loved this sitar masterpiece. East meets west fusion at its finest. 4.5/5

Heartattack And Vine by Tom Waits
Jan 12 2026

The music is good. I appreciate the songwriting. I just really couldn’t get past the voice. It was painful to listen to most of the time. 3/5

Fly Or Die by N.E.R.D
Jan 14 2026

When this started I thought I would live, I was annoyed and ready to turn it off by track 3. I pushed through and though I can say it had some nice grooves, I can’t say I liked much else about it. 2/5

Station To Station by David Bowie
Jan 15 2026

Bowie’s music has always been a bit hit or miss for me, but this one absolutely hit. I loved everything about this album. 5/5

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jan 17 2026

Classic bluesy rock. Some of the transitions were a bit jarring. A stand out or two. Overall, I found this good, if not great. 3.5/5

Bubble And Scrape by Sebadoh
Jan 18 2026

This is a hard one for me to rate. I did enjoy some of it. It was just very inconsistent and clearly had too many drivers. It was trying to be too many things. 2.5/5

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jan 19 2026

I like Deep Purple. This has some great music. It is one of the best live album recordings I have heard. That being said it is way too long and self indulgent. Entirely too many ridiculously long solos. 3/5

Jan 20 2026

This was surprising for me. I’ve never been the biggest Dylan fan, but I enjoyed this album. 4/5

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jan 21 2026

Not a bad record by any means, but I was left with few impressions. 3.5/5

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 22 2026

It’s Jimi. Not the best of his albums, but still a great record. 4.5/5

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Jan 23 2026

I loved this. I had heard a couple of the songs before, but never the whole album. Her voice is warm and soulful. 5/5

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jan 24 2026

I’ve never had much of an opinion on Springsteen. I like some of his songs generally, but this album didn’t work for me. I didn’t care for it vocally, none of the songs, other than Born to Run, felt particularly strong either. I did like the sax. 3/5

Jan 25 2026

I loved this. This is music guaranteed to put me in a good mood. It reminds me of growing up and the music I would listen to with my mom. 5/5

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jan 26 2026

This was 2 halves of what could be a great whole. The ‘concept’ album 1st half was interesting, and had a couple tracks I liked, but felt more like a half formed idea than a fully executed one. The back half was full of banger tracks, but didn’t really go with the first half. 4/5

Eagles by Eagles
Jan 27 2026

Decent album. Some good tracks, some okay tracks. I do enjoy the Eagles. 4/5

Under Construction by Missy Elliott
Jan 28 2026

Missy is a queen. While I didn’t necessarily love this album, I can’t deny that. The beats are great. I had a fun time with it, but it wasn’t really for me. 3.5/5

The Sun Rises In The East by Jeru The Damaja
Jan 29 2026

Not being a big rap/hip-hop listener, I can’t really compare it to much. I thought it wasn’t bad, some of the songs I liked okay, some really not so much. It was okay, but probably wouldn’t listen to it again. 3/5

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jan 30 2026

Musically this was fine. The songs themselves were ok at best. The biggest issue for me was the engineering. Too much panning, it drove me nuts and was painful to listen to at times because of it. Would not listen to again or recommend personally. 2.5/5

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jan 31 2026

I hadn’t heard this Beastie Boys album before. I love the energy Beastie Boys bring. The lyrical witticisms are great. I feel like this is an album that would grow on me the more I listened to it, but on a first listen I felt it was a bit long and tonally one-note. 3.5/5

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Feb 01 2026

This was great. Even the odd experimental craziness that was murder mystery worked for me. 5/5

Ramones by Ramones
Feb 02 2026

It’s a punk classic. Short, simple and straightforward. 5/5

C'est Chic by CHIC
Feb 03 2026

I enjoyed this more than I thought. The music and the grooves were great overall. A few clunkers that I didn’t enjoy but overall a positive experience. 3.5/5

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Feb 04 2026

I liked this a lot. I don’t really have much to compare it to, but I can understand the acclaim it has gotten. Some of the songs felt a little long to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. 4/5

Among The Living by Anthrax
Feb 05 2026

This had a lot of things I liked. The music was good. The drums were killer. The songs and vocals for me were just ok. 3/5

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Feb 06 2026

I adore Dusty Springfield. Always hits for me. 5/5

Arrival by ABBA
Feb 07 2026

I expected to like this more than I did. The hits are great. The rest of the album though I felt was just kind of mid. 3.5/5

Cross by Justice
Feb 08 2026

This didn’t work for me much at all. I kind of just kept checking to see how much longer i had until it was over. Not something I would want to listen to again. 2/5

25 by Adele
Feb 09 2026

Adele is an incredible vocalist. This is a strong album, if not quite as emotionally resonant as her previous. 4/5

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Feb 10 2026

This is not my genre usually, but this was good. There was certainly stuff I didn’t particularly like, but the stuff I liked impressed me so much it jumped my rating up. It was cinematic, it was introspective, it was a concept album that was easily understandable and worked. Kendrick is a great lyricist. 4/5

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Feb 11 2026

The nostalgia is strong with this one. It still hits. It’s a little more static in it’s sound then later albums. 4.5/5

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Feb 12 2026

I enjoyed listening to this. I felt it dragged on a bit long in certain places and I could have done without the 8 min spoken word section. 3.5/5

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Feb 13 2026

Musically it’s good, full of driving energy. Unfortunately, beyond the title song, the rest were fairly mediocre if not bad. 3/5

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Feb 14 2026

Dark, heavy, emotive. I love that about Reznor and NIN. The mix of Industrial and grungy rock makes it stand out, though on occasion it stood out in a not great way. Still a very solid album. 4/5

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Feb 15 2026

This was brand new for me and I kind of loved it. It was melancholy and beautiful and sparse. I couldn’t stop thinking about it over the day. 5/5

Murmur by R.E.M.
Feb 16 2026

I like REM generally. I don’t know if it was just my mood or what, but this album didn’t grab me in any way. It was fine, but nothing stood out and I found myself zoning out and forgetting I was even listening to something. 3.5/5 I guess.

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Feb 17 2026

A rock classic. 4/5

Feb 19 2026

This is an odd one for me. It has great energy. A fun vibe, but on the whole I found it more annoying than anything. I was just glad it was short. 3/5

Guero by Beck
Feb 21 2026

Love when an album surprises me. I had a lot of fun listening to this one. I enjoyed nearly all the songs. 4.5/5

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
Feb 22 2026

As a whole album it felt a bit one note to me. The songs were all quite similar. I think I would enjoy listening to the songs singularly as opposed to collectively. 3/5

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Feb 23 2026

It was fine. I’ve heard better from Deep Purple. 3/5

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Feb 24 2026

I fully enjoyed this. And I knew far more of the songs than I thought I would. 4.5/5

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Feb 25 2026

Not generally a fan of live albums, but this one I fully enjoyed. Frampton is classic. 5/5

GI by Germs
Feb 26 2026

This was painful. I liked the music. Those vocals though…they were like vomit-screaming hopped up on speed. You couldn’t understand the lyrics, maybe thy were decent I have no idea. Plus they seemed almost out of sync with the music itself, like they were playing at 2 different speeds. It made for an extremely long 38 minutes. 2/5 because I did enjoy the music anyway.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Feb 27 2026

Industrial meets cabaret and make it French. This kind of worked for me. 4/5

Tommy by The Who
Feb 28 2026

Yeah I still really am not a fan of big concept albums. This had some good songs I enjoyed and I respect it for what it is, but overall it wasn’t for me. I didn’t care for the overall story and that was a big draw back as well.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Mar 01 2026

This was a solid listen for me. Not every song hit, but overall I had a good listening experience. 3.5/5 rounding up to 4

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Mar 02 2026

It’s a good listen. Smooth, jazzy, funky. It’s a good time. 4/5

Violator by Depeche Mode
Mar 03 2026

Dark, moody, atmospheric. I love it. I knew the hits, but had never listened to the album. This was so good for me. 5/5

Mar 04 2026

It was a perfectly good synth pop album. For the length especially I felt it needed a bit more variation. It was a bit too same sounding. Also I was really not in the mood for it, which also affects my rating. 3.5/5 in a different mood I may like it more.

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Mar 05 2026

Really interesting album. A clever mash-up of trip-hop, electronic, jazz, Indian folk with a poignant theme. It doesn’t always completely work for me, but mostly does. I especially loved the middle three of Tides, Nadia, and Immigrant. 4/5

Mar 06 2026

This was bad. It sounded like a whiny, drunk guy poorly rapping about all his troubles over a random drum track setting and constantly a step behind the beat. 1/5

With The Beatles by Beatles
Mar 07 2026

It’s The Beatles. I can not be unbiased about them. While this is not my favorite or their best album, it’s still great. I like the Motown covers too. 5/5

Mar 09 2026

This was interesting. First track and I had an immediate negative reaction, but this was an album that the longer it went on the more I liked it. It had some tracks I didn’t like, a couple I really did. Overall, not too bad. 3/5

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Mar 10 2026

I got into this quite a bit. I really dug the grooves and flow to this album. 4/5

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Mar 11 2026

Sci-fi-esque ambience that I did not expect to like at all. Honestly, it was pretty good. 3.5/5

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Mar 12 2026

An overload of noise that separately some of which is not bad, but all together is just painful. 1/5

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Mar 16 2026

Smooth jazz-pop that was pleasant enough to listen to. My biggest issue was that for the short run time it felt long. Every track felt like it was 8 minutes long for some reason. I didn’t not enjoy it though. 3.5/5

Who's Next by The Who
Mar 17 2026

Great album. Classic. 5/5

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Mar 18 2026

I should really like this more than I do. Bluesy rock, great guitar, but it just doesn’t hook me. It was just ok for me. 3.5/5

Kid A by Radiohead
Mar 19 2026

While not big with electronic music generally, Radiohead’s take here I kind of enjoyed. It’s not my favorite Radiohead by far, but there is something here that worked for me. 4/5

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain
Mar 20 2026

This was unremarkable. Nothing grabbed me while listening to it and a day later I’m struggling to even remember anything about it. I’ll give it a middling 3/5

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Mar 21 2026

I like the band. The music is great. Love me some blues and bluesy rock. That being said this was just way too long. Nobody needs a 22-minute track. Anything just becomes background at that length. 3/5 only because I do still really like the music, even if it’s too long to really engage with.

Mar 22 2026

It has a couple of absolute gems and a lot of middling ok. Freedom ‘90 is of course the standout here. Sadly the rest doesn’t hold up to the same quality. 3/5

Devotional Songs by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Mar 23 2026

Something different I wouldn’t have heard without this list. I thought it was really good. And every song was unique to itself, they didn’t all blend together like I feared they might. 4/5

Boston by Boston
Mar 24 2026

Absolute classic for a reason. Overplayed, yes. But still a banger. 5/5

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Mar 25 2026

This definitely sounded like some fuzzy logic. It was a bit all over the place, didn’t quite know what it wanted to be. Not unlistenable, didn’t necessarily like it either. 2.5/5

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Mar 26 2026

Beautiful harmonies. Perfectly blended folksy-poppy good time. It was exactly what I needed at the moment. 5/5

Mar 27 2026

This was very much not for me. I don’t enjoy this genre much regularly and this was no exception. I wanted to rate it higher, but even the beats and music were rather one-note and not interesting. I didn’t care for the lyrics. And it was entirely too long. 1/5

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Mar 28 2026

Ethereal. Dreamy. Makes me feel like I’m floating in space. 5/5

A Date With The Everly Brothers by The Everly Brothers
Mar 29 2026

Catchy, upbeat, pop music. Full of great harmonies. My mom had this on heavy rotation in my house growing up. Solid, good time. 4/5

1984 by Van Halen
Mar 30 2026

Classic of 80s rock. A few tracks don’t stand up much for me, but a solid listen just the same. 4/5

Live! by Fela Kuti
Mar 31 2026

I dig this afrobeat - jazz album. It was a bit on the long side for my current mood, but was a fun, interesting listen that I’m glad to discover. 4/5

Sulk by The Associates
Apr 01 2026

It’s an ok album. Complete 80s synth new wave. Some tracks are decent, others not so much. Way too long by far though. 2.5/5

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Apr 02 2026

I’ve always loved this album. One of my favorites of the era. 5/5

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Apr 03 2026

Loved his voice. Enjoyed the jazzy, occasionally bluesy, soulful politics of this album. The things I liked here have me bumping my rating up a bit so I’ll rate this a 4/5

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Apr 04 2026

A couple of tracks took this from a solid listen to a beautiful, almost fragile sounding work of art. 4/5

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Apr 05 2026

I loved this. I’m more familiar with Pink Moon, but I really dig the fuller, orchestral sound to this album. 4/5

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
Apr 06 2026

A day later and I’ve already forgotten everything about this album other than feeling that it was fine. So 3/5 I guess

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Apr 07 2026

The hits are great. Hits for a reason. The rest was to me more grating and meh. Not a fan of Axl’s voice. Slash makes this record for me. 3.5/5

Goo by Sonic Youth
Apr 08 2026

One of my favorite bands. I love this album. It’s not my favorite or their best, but still love. 5/5

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Apr 09 2026

I rather enjoyed the noir soundtrack vibe of this. I can’t really envision wanting to listen to this regularly, but as a mood setting it’s great. 3.5/5

Calenture by The Triffids
Apr 10 2026

I did not enjoy this at all. It was way too long. Honestly, I found it very boring, nothing about it spoke to me. The music was generic 80s to me. It wasn’t unlistenable, but I did not enjoy it. 1.5/5

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Apr 11 2026

I love Soundgarden. Chris Cornell’s voice is so good. Great album, just a tad long for my tastes. 4.5/5

LP1 by FKA twigs
Apr 12 2026

Not what I expected but I enjoyed it. I found it to be good focus music while I was getting stuff done around the house. 3.5/5

Apr 13 2026

MTV Unplugged was amazing and this was peak. The rawness and vulnerability in Kurt’s performance is unmatched. This was a 5* for me when it came out and I’ve only loved it more on re-listens since. 5/5

Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 14 2026

I like Neil Young, although I didn’t need 2 in one week. I enjoyed this. His songwriting is always good and this has some of the best songs. 4/5

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Apr 15 2026

I remember really not liking this when it came out, but it wasn’t that bad. My big issue with it are the lyrics pretty bland or bad for the most part, but musically it was a fine pop album. 3.5/5

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Apr 16 2026

This did not work for me at all. The music was fine, but I can’t say much else. 2/5

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Apr 17 2026

I haven’t listened to a lot of Reggae, but this was pretty good. I like the groove, I like the lyrics. 3.5/5

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Apr 18 2026

This album is perfectly suited for me. I love it. 5/5

Apr 19 2026

Thai was a bit too erratic for me. I liked a lot of the instrumentation and musicality of it, but beyond that I really did not enjoy listening to it at all. 2.5/5

Apr 20 2026

This is definitely an album of its time…a very 90s ‘playground’esque rap album complete with an entire track of ‘Yo Mama’ jokes. A bit too sophomoric for my tastes, but I did enjoy the jazzy elements infused in the music. 2.5/5

Smash by The Offspring
Apr 21 2026

This didn’t hit more adult me the way it did for teenage me and Dexter’s voice bothered me more than it ever has before. Still fun to relisten to though. The hits are still great. Round up to 4/5 for the nostalgia.

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Apr 22 2026

A beautifully dark, emotional album. Stripped down and lovely listen. 4.5/5

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Apr 23 2026

I appreciated the jazz, funk, soul influences in this. A couple tracks I felt were pretty good, but most of them unfortunately I didn’t like at all. I’m sure I may pick up on more lyrical complexity in further listens, but I didn’t enjoy this enough to want to do that. I found this tedious to listen to and too long. 2/5

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Apr 24 2026

Second Nick Cave in a handful of days. This one didn’t work for me. I respect what it is, but for listening enjoyment I found it too long, too slow, and a bit too heavy and dramatic. I struggled to keep my attention on it and not fall asleep frankly. 2.5/5

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Apr 27 2026

A fun listen for 15 minutes. Some of the songs I liked, others I didn’t care for, the lyrics were for the most part a bit too irreverent for how I tend to like my hardcore punk. 3/5

My Generation by The Who
Apr 28 2026

This was a fun little listen. Nothing Earth shattering, but I enjoyed it. 3.5/5

1989 by Taylor Swift
Apr 29 2026

It’s a good, solid pop album. 4/5

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Apr 30 2026

I love Come On, Eileen but the rest of this album was a bit of a miss for me. None of the other songs really stood out and I didn’t really care for his voice much. 2.5/5

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
May 02 2026

I love blues guitar and blues rock so this is right up my alley. A bit too long, but an enjoyable listen all the same. 4/5

Fear and Whiskey by Mekons
May 03 2026

Yeah, no. This album does not work for me at all. Just all around bad, the music doesn’t really work, the vocals are terrible. 1/5

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
May 04 2026

I quite enjoyed this dreamy, synth pop soundscape of an album. I had never heard of this artist before, but I may check out more. 4/5

Stankonia by OutKast
May 05 2026

The hits were hitting. The rest not so much. This was too long, and as with similar records I didn’t care for the skits and could have done without them. 3/5

Odelay by Beck
May 06 2026

This was definitely a Beck album. Some of it was great. Some was a bit too experimental for my taste and I didn’t find it super cohesive. Still an ok listen when in the mood. 3.5/5

Purple Rain by Prince
May 07 2026

Classic. A couple songs I don’t love, but really this is a great album. 4/5

May 08 2026

Never been a huge Dylan fan, but this album hit for me. I even liked his vocals here, which is really surprising. 4/5

Urban Hymns by The Verve
May 09 2026

I like this album. It has a couple good songs. It also has a lot of forgettable songs, and is too long. It’s a fine listen, but not remarkable. 3/5

British Steel by Judas Priest
May 10 2026

Metal Classic. A solid good time. 4/5

May 11 2026

This was fine, I guess but I just really do not like Coldplay. Chris Martin’s voice was always a bit whiny to me and the music full. 2.5/5

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
May 12 2026

Elton John is always a good listen. Not every track hits or hold up here, but a good time. 3.5/5

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
May 13 2026

This is one of those bands that I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve heard from them, but never listened to whole albums from before. I did enjoy the atmospheric sound. I enjoy this era of Oort punk quite a bit. Not the best stuff from them I’ve heard, but still enjoyed it. 3.5/5

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
May 14 2026

One of my favorite artists of all time. Even here where you can hear the voice breaking down a bit, still so soulful. Love. 5/5

Stardust by Willie Nelson
May 16 2026

A good, solid covers/standards album. I liked Willie’s takes. 4/5

Vivid by Living Colour
May 17 2026

Fun album full of good energy. Cult of Personality is still a banger. 4/5

May 18 2026

This one’s a tricky one to rate, because it is essentially 2 different albums packaged together. Speakerboxxx was definitely the stronger of the two in my opinion. Both had their high points, but this was way too long an experience. 3/5 I guess.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
May 19 2026

Despite not being a big country fan, Dolly is a genre unto herself. The humble earnestness in her voice and her songwriting is special. 4/5

May 20 2026

I thought this was fine, but I’m hard pressed to think of much of anything to say about it. Some jazz rock fusion that was nice to listen to, but unremarkable.

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
May 21 2026

I really hated this. It was too long, the I didn’t like any of the songs and I found the vocals grating. 1/5

May 22 2026

Spotify only had a bit of this album, but from what I heard of it, it was fine. I would say it’s a very 90s hip hop album, and the lyrics don’t always hold up. Not something I would reach for personally, but not egregious to listen to. 3/5

Synchronicity by The Police
May 23 2026

It had its moments, but this was not my favorite. The first half in particular wasn’t a great listen for me. 2.5/5

Transformer by Lou Reed
May 24 2026

This has some great songs and a few that really drag it down. I do generally like Lou Reed and this was still a good listen. 3.5/5

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
May 25 2026

It’s Elvis. Full of hits. I’m not going to deny the originals did them better, especially looking at you Tutti-Frutti, but a good time. 4/5

Pearl by Janis Joplin
May 26 2026

I already knew most of the songs, but had never listened to the whole album before. So good. Soulful, bluesy, rock goddess. 5/5

Moon Safari by Air
May 27 2026

It was fine. Atmospheric, electronic music. 3/5

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
May 28 2026

This surprised me. I’m not a Tom Waits fan, and yet this bizarre circus, cabaretesque oddity strangely mostly worked for me. It was an intriguing listen. 3.5/5

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
May 29 2026

I always forget how much I enjoy PSB until I’m listening to them. While this is a little more serious than some of their other stuff I do still quite like it. Some of it is a bit kitschy and it’s not always tonally super interesting, but still a solid listen. I debated between a 3 and 4, so I’ll split and say 3.5/5

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
May 30 2026

Solid Sabbath album. I hadn’t heard this one before. Heavy, sludgy, just what I want from them. 4/5

The Yes Album by Yes
May 31 2026

I enjoy some good 70s prog rock. This does hit that itch. It does start to all blend together a bit especially in the back half. 3/5

Leftism by Leftfield
Jun 01 2026

It’s fine for some atmospheric background music, but it’s too long to make a good active listen. 2.5/5

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jun 02 2026

Some classic 80s goodness here. Dire Straits has some great songs, some of which are on this album. A few songs I didn’t like or care for here, but Knopfler’s guitar is on point as always. 4/5

Jun 03 2026

I generally like Chicago. This had some great classic Chicago tracks, but overall it was a bit of a slog to get through. The tracks were all generally too long, and the album was for sure too long. Plus Free Form Guitar was just horrible to listen to. 2/5

Hms Fable by Shack
Jun 04 2026

This one was completely new to me. Pretty standard 90s britpop, but I really enjoyed my time with it. 4/5

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Jun 05 2026

It’s not bad. By biggest issue with it is length. The songs are all too long for me, so it makes it feel a bit sloggy. 2/5

Rio by Duran Duran
Jun 06 2026

Classic 80s. The bass absolutely slaps. This is just a fun time. 4/5

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Jun 07 2026

This big band album really hits for me. I live the jazz and swing era sounds generally and hit all the notes I wanted out of it. 5/5

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Jun 08 2026

Yeah no, this was bad. I was going to rate it a 2 for the music, but by the end it was so thoroughly in enjoyable it has to be a 1. 1/5

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 09 2026

It’s a classic RHCP album. The first half is great, but it does drag a bit in the back half. It would be better if it was tightened up a bit, but it’s fine. 3.5/5

Inspiration Information by Shuggie Otis
Jun 11 2026

This was a nice groovy, funky listen. A tad long, but enjoyable. 4/5

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jun 12 2026

I enjoyed this. The music is good. I would say it’s maybe a bit too long and the first handful of songs all blended together to me. 3.5/5

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Jun 13 2026

Not being a big Stones fan I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this. A few of the songs in the middle fell a bit flat, but still solid listen. 4/5

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 14 2026

I hadn’t heard this Beach Boys album before. Not my favorite, I didn’t love a lot of it, but I did kind of dig the more serious somber side of them. 3/5

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jun 15 2026

Maybe this just hit me in the right mood, but I really enjoyed this. It just sank into me. 4/5

Back In Black by AC/DC
Jun 16 2026

I remember I used to really like this album. Listening to it for the first time in many years I was surprised to find myself not really enjoying it. Probably the biggest issue for me was the vocals, I found them very grating. Less surprising to find the lyrics not always holding up. I still enjoyed the music, and the hits still hit though. 3/5

Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
Jun 17 2026

I love Fiona Apple generally, but this album was a bit too experimental for my tastes. It may be one that grows on me with more listens, as it was a bit near the end. So I’ll give it a 3/5.

Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Jun 18 2026

It’s a bit all over the place genre wise, but it’s not a bad album. I do like a couple of the songs quite a bit. 3/5

Jun 19 2026

This album is just beautifully soulful and poignant. Not every song hits completely for me, but the ones that do are sublime. 4.5/5

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jun 20 2026

I like Janis, but I mostly just found this painful to listen to. 2/5

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jun 21 2026

I really did not enjoy this. A few small moments that saved it from being a one star, but not by much. 2/5

Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.
Jun 22 2026

Is it a little repetitive? Yes. Is it a little dated? Sure. But I honestly enjoyed it. It was just a fun time and a bit nostalgic. 4/5

Dummy by Portishead
Jun 23 2026

I always forget how much I enjoy this album until i listen to it again. It is such a nostalgic, transportive mood for me. 5/5

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Jun 24 2026

It’s a classic. Glam punk precursor. I still enjoyed it. 4/5

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Jun 25 2026

Yeah it’s fine. Electronic music in general is not really my thing. I find it all very similar and forgettable. 3/5

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jun 26 2026

Nostalgia bomb from the early 2000s. The first half is full of hits. 4/5

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Jun 27 2026

The only thing that really grabbed me about this album was the iconic cover. The rest is fine, but I didn’t like it as much as I hoped. 3/5

Real Life by Magazine
Jun 28 2026

This was not enjoyable to me. While I didn’t hate the music overall, I really hated the vocals. It really ruined it for me. 2/5

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jun 29 2026

80s classic. I grew up on this and I genuinely really like the 80s hair metal rock as a sound. Can’t help but enjoy it. 4/5

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jun 30 2026

Full of joyous energy and fun. Really good time. 4/5

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Jul 01 2026

I really love Bonnie Raitt’s voice and that raspy bluesy sound. Not my favorite Boonie Raitt by any means, but I always enjoy listening to her. 3.5/5

Jul 02 2026

It’s James Brown, of course it’s good. Funky, smooth, soulful. A great live album. 4/5

Jul 03 2026

I didn’t hate it. I found it rather relaxing honestly. Not my favorite, but I would listen to it again. 3.5/5

Jul 05 2026

Listening to the Pogues takes me back to being a kid hanging with my cousins. Irish folk punk brilliance. It could be a bit shorter, but I had a fun time. 4/5

Da Capo by Love
Jul 06 2026

This was a big no for me. I was going to give it a 2 because it wasn’t totally unlistenable but then the last track happened and I just couldn’t. 1/5

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jul 07 2026

One of my dad’s all-time favorite records. I can’t not smile listening to this. Smooth, groovy jazz that just hits. 5/5

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jul 08 2026

I’ve generally liked Prince in the past, but this album didn’t do much for me. I found it overly long and quite dull. A few songs I liked, but even there no big stand outs. 2.5/5

Jul 09 2026

This one was just fun. I hadn’t heard of this one before, but I quite enjoyed it. 4/5

Space Ritual by Hawkwind
Jul 10 2026

There is some okay music here, but 2+ hrs of anything is just entirely too much. 2/5

21 by Adele
Jul 11 2026

I haven’t listened to this one in a few years, and while I still get the overplayed factor a bit I have to admit it still hits. 5/5

Repeater by Fugazi
Jul 13 2026

I enjoy fugazi and the post hardcore sound. I haven’t listened in quite a while, but it still worked for me. 4/5

xx by The xx
Jul 14 2026

I love the chill, minimalistic stylings of The xx. I much prefer coexist to this album, but still decent. Solid. 3.5/5

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Jul 15 2026

There were glimpses of some decent stuff here. It definitely comes off as the demos it was supposed to be. Add that it is way too long. 2/5

Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré
Jul 16 2026

I enjoyed this. It did fade into the background a bit after awhile, but I don’t mind that. 4/5

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Jul 18 2026

I really enjoy Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, so yeah I had a good time listening to this album. Not a perfect album for me, but still enjoyable. 4/5

Slayed? by Slade
Jul 19 2026

Better than I was expecting honestly. It was a solid listen. 3.5/5

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jul 20 2026

Not too bad. A bit of a mixed bag. Some I liked, some I really didn’t. 3/5

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jul 21 2026

People shit on Van Morrison, but I’ve always loved them and this album is a classic. 5/5

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jul 22 2026

Bluesy, jazzy, funkadelic…I quite enjoyed this one overall. Other than the one vocal track which I really didn’t like. 3.5/5

Homework by Daft Punk
Jul 23 2026

Not unlistenable, but way too long and repetitive. 2/5

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jul 24 2026

I haven’t listened to much reggae, but I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. Why Must I Cry was a stand out to me. 4/5

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jul 25 2026

I do love this album. It’s ephemeral and experimental but in a way that actually works for me. Running Up That Hill is one of my all time favorite songs. A few things don’t hit completely so it’s not quite a 5. 4/5

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Jul 26 2026

This hit the spot for me yesterday. I’m not always a big Dylan fan, but I really liked this one. Can’t deny his songwriting and storytelling. 4/5

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
Jul 27 2026

Mixed bag for me. Some of it I thought was decent, but some I found grating. 2.5/5

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jul 28 2026

I enjoy the addition of non-traditional rock instruments in bands quite a lot and Jethro Tull is the epitome of that. Classic album I groove with. 4/5

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Jul 29 2026

This album should not have worked for me. And yet, it strangely really did. It was dark and gloomy at times, trip-hoppy, electronica that despite being repetitive and often felt like it was building to nothing, I can’t stop thinking about it and so I feel like I have to give it a full 5.

Jul 30 2026

This was ok. It blended I tot eh background quite a bit. I hit a moment where I realized I forgot I was even listening to something. When I did pick up lyrics, I found them to be fairly mediocre. 3/5

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Jul 31 2026

This felt longer than it was, and by the end I just very ready for it to be over, despite the fact that I did enjoy it. The music, the vocals were quite good. I don’t know. 3.5/5

Tical by Method Man
Aug 02 2026

While not my genre, I didn’t hate this. I like the flow of that era of rap generally. Still not for me though. 3/5

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Aug 03 2026

Randy Newman is a great songwriter. And his voice has always been strangely comforting to me. I hadn’t heard this album before, although I knew some songs. Solid listen. 3.5/5

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Aug 04 2026

I love this album. And its relevance has not faded over the decades. 5/5

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
Aug 05 2026

I was excited to get this one. I have liked Dinosaur Jr. in the past, but this one didn’t quite hit for me. There were things I liked, but always something I didn’t to keep me from loving it. 3/5

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Aug 06 2026

I haven’t listened to this since it came out. While I still respect the talent, I found character or not, the ultra violence and misogyny was beyond hard to listen to. 2/5

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
Aug 07 2026

The beats were ok….The rest…no. Didn’t like the concept, the lyrics, the flow most of the time. Too long. Not a fan. 1.5/5

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Aug 08 2026

I struggle with live albums. I could do without all the taking/intro stuff. Too long for my attention span, but the music is good. 3/5

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Aug 09 2026

Couldn’t escape this one when it came out. Still some bangers, but some hasn’t aged as well. Good harmonies, a bit too poppy for me right now though. 3.5/5

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
Aug 10 2026

It would be better as a couple smaller albums, than one big double album. Each section was fine on its own, it was just too much all at once. 3/5

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Aug 11 2026

70s classic. I grew up on this album. Still a hit. 4/5

Yeezus by Kanye West
Aug 12 2026

Yeah, this was bad. 1/5

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Aug 13 2026

Long, droning, boring. Suicide was the most ear-splitting annoying 11 minutes. 2/5

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Aug 14 2026

Absolute classic. Her songwriting and vocals and unmatched, vulnerable and emotional. River is still one of my all time favorites. 5/5

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 15 2026

I love CCR’s bluesy, swampy sound. JF is a genius musician. This was a solid, fun album. A couple weaker tracks kept it from a full 5. 4/5

Aug 16 2026

Moody, a bit dark and melancholic. Very cinematic. All things I would expect for a movie score. Encapsulates the vibe quite well, 4/5

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Aug 17 2026

It’s a classic. Full of hits. Great songwriting. Excellent album. 5/5

Bossanova by Pixies
Aug 18 2026

I like the Pixies and wasn’t familiar with this album. It was enjoyable. I didn’t really feel a stand out on this listen, but it wasn’t bad by any means. 4/5

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Aug 19 2026

This was fine. Musically I liked it. It didn’t grab my attention completely though. I found the lyrics a bit underwhelming. It was fine, but not particularly special or spectacular. 3/5

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Aug 20 2026

Perfect timing on this one because I had been craving some SoaD. I haven’t listened to this album in a long time, it’s not my favorite of theirs but it still rocks. 4/5
