I like the guitar-play. Over all a very solid album without smashhits or fails. Not an easy 4-star-rating but for sure better than average. Feels more like a 3.5.

I´m really not into jazz. Even if the album had influenced many musicians and might be instrumental brilliant, for me it´s just background music in a bar. Sorry for that.

nice to listen to. I like the music and the musical concept of the album but I dig it down one star because I don´t like the vocals.

Nice beats keep my feet moving. Sounds a bit like an electronic version of "The Strokes". Highlights: North American Scum, All My Friends, Watch The Tapes, New York,... - but also some weaker numbers.

It was hard to even stand the first song. The rest of the album varies from an "Radiohead"-arrangement for either a church- or a cat- choir.

Because it´s just the Beatles I had to listen to it several times. At the date of release "Revolver" had sure been a 10 out of 5 stars. But from todays perspective for me it´s just a very good, well aged album.

Besides the well known "Metal Guru" - that got me hooked the whole day - it´s just a solid classic rock album.

"The XX" created an unique sound that you identify directly when you hear it. Nothing I would like to listen on further albums. But anytime I pick this special one it works perfect for me as an album and I listen to it with pleasure. By the way: The first generated album from the list I actually own. 😉

Of corse the song "Imagine" stands out. "Jealous Guy", "Crippled Inside", "How Do You Sleep?" and "Gimme Some Truth" are not bad. Compared to his big name it didn´t fully match my expectations!

Gave it a few tries but even as a Radiohead-fan I can´t get used to this. I really can´t stand this vocals and had to rate it down further just because of the voice.

"Kids" blasts. The rest sounds more like a wannabe. Very ambitious - but failed for me.

Never heared of them before. Somehow the sound reminds me on "The Bangles" which I like. Musically a blast. Fun to listen to although the vocals are not my favorite. A tricky 3,5-stars-rating turned into a 4 by the cover-artwork.

For the first run it seems like background-music but it is better than that. It has a nice groove and is instrumentally very good. A mixture between traditonal elements, jazz and club music.

The hit-single "Tainted Love" stands out but the rest feels more or less like the title of the opening-track - "Frustation".

How would this one sound with modern live-recording-technology even it is already that good.

Remembers me on some film-music from the sixties. A pleasant diversion from the recent albums. But sounds a bit too aged for my taste.

The opener leaves me with the question why don´t switch directly to an Hendrix-album. The middle-section (tracks 2-6) is nice and groovy. The last song again quite weird... After the first look at the cover and some reviews I had high expectations on this album. Unfortunately they were not matched. Definitely not my every-day-choise. 2,5

Nice, groovy beats the whole album long. Most of the time I like the music more than the vocals and lyrics on this. The additional songs on the double LP compared with the single vinyl edition cost him the fourth star. Sometimes less is more! Favourite songs: "1999", "Free", "International Lover"

Never heared of Jazz-Rock before. Musically not bad and after tracks 1 and 2 I´m on at least 2 stars for that. But the voice on track 3 is an imposition. And why is there over 4 minutes annoying noise on track 4 before the music starts. I really don´t like to be pissed of by an album.

This one comes over like a thunderstorm. Short and heavy. Not my every-day pick. Nevertheless I like the sound and with less sreaming it would be an easy 3-stars-rate. 2,5

Oh my god. I´m so sick of all that Robert Wyatt stuff! Are there really no other remarkable albums in this world from someone who at least can sing?

There it comes to light - the unique Tom-Petty-sound. And there are the first of his hits: "Breakdown", "Anything That´s Rock´n´Roll" and "American Girl".

Lenny has the ability to play some nice guitar riffs. There are also some sparks like the well known songs "Let Love Rule", "I Build This Garden For Us" and first of all "Mr. Cab Driver". The rest of the album bores me or sucks most of the time. 2,5

This one gives me headache. If I want to hear speed-metal I pick a Metallica-album and if I want to hear someone upchuck than I go out and have a party.

Although I´m familiar with R.E.M. I have never heared this whole album before. And surprisingly one can already find all of their genius on this debut but not in the later perfection. Favourite: "Radio Free Europe", "Pilgrimage", "Sitting Still"...

Like the Album-Cover indicates - Buy this one and burn it immediatly. Boring, repetitive, trivial and therefore way too long. Neither I hate this album at all nor it sucks but I could´nt care less about it. 1,5

I´m always struggling with Jimi Hendrix. Of course there is his outstanding, groundbreaking guitarplay. But at the other hand the music is too much sixties for me and his vocals are also not my favour. The rating-task becomes even more confusing with all the different editions.

I liked it although it is missing some hits. "Fools Of Gold" at the end messes it up a bit. 2,5

I generally appreciate Stevie Wonder, especially his vocals and his harmonica-play. "Superstition" stands out and I like "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", "Big Brother" and "Believe" but this whole album don´t clicks for me.

There is a reason this one is Bon Jovi´s best selling album! It contains nearly all of their all-time-smash-hits like "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Livin´ On A Prayer", "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and "Never Say Goodbye", it is slightly diversified and has only a few weaker numbers. Pretty good stadium-rock 🎸 to make you feel good, your shirt wet and the floor slippery. 😉 A crystal-clear ⭐⭐⭐⭐-rating

Oh, how do I love that Neil Young acoustic guitar with harmonica shit on the A-side! "My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)" is an anthem. And how do I love the energy of that grungy B-side! 🤘🎸 By the way - "It´s better to burn out than to fade away..."😉 Beyond that the recording-quality of this album is outstanding. I only rate it down one star because I question any kind of live-recordings on this list.

The well-known "le freak"-loop is very catchy and "i want your love" is ok. The rest of the album sonds not that "Chic" but very repetitive to me and don´t convinces me at all.

"At Fillmore East" contains some wonderful blues-rock-jams, is musically great and has got a pretty good recording quality. I rate it down because I generally question live-albums on this list knowing this is probably the only way to capture a jam session. And maybe two 20-minutes-songs are too much?!

Eminem has got a signature-sound that I like in almost every single song. Although "The Slim Shady LP" is - compared to other hip-hop/rap-albums - quite entertaining, one hour of hip-hop/rap bores me. Simply not my prefered gengre. 🤷‍♂️ 2,5

A real alternative listening-experience. Sometimes weired, sometimes interesting and always with a driving beat. That´s why I´m doing this project - but definitive not a every day choice. 2,5

Neither heared of John Martyn nor this album before. Because the album "solid air" seemed quite challenging to me, I had to give it a few tries. And it is growing with every try. Very diversified Folk-Rock-Jazz. Not a single weak or aged number. Definitely worth listening! But very hard for me to decide between 3 or 4 stars!

Funny mood throughout the whole album. Musically not exactly my cup of tea and in addition too aged for my taste.

From nowadays perspective I really can´t see the magic of Alice Cooper in general and this special album any more. Ok - there are some nice songs like "Elected", "Billion Dollar Babie" or "No More Mr. Nice Guy" but for me it´s just another classic/hard-rock-album. 🤷‍♂️

The first three songs are nice and smooth-flowing. "Andalucia", "Antarctica Starts Here" and "Half Past France" are a bit lame. "Macbeth" finally has a nice beat and much more energy. Overall I don´t like his expressionless voice. 2,5

I really like Stevie Wonders voice and I love his harmonica-play. But this special album doesn´t hook me at all. I find not a single remarkable song on it. 2,5

If you want to learn how to stretch a good hook or musically idea or frase out until it sucks - this album is a perfect lesson. Even from songs like "Good Times" I´m longing for a much shorter single-version. Boring and repetitive. Bring it to the dancefloor but it´s simply not the stuff for an album!

After the fist few review I was looking forward to this album. But what can I say: I got disappointed. Really nothing special there.

Oh my god. This is a damn good album. How could I miss them until now? There are so many things on this record that I love at other bands (The Strokes, U2, ....) - except one thing: I would love to like the voice more.

I can´t understand the hype about Michael Jackson now, hadn´t understood it than. Ok - This is a well-produced, million-selling album. And with "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" it contains some of his all-time favourite songs and most popular pop-songs ever. "Wanna Be Startin Somthin", "Thriller" and "Human Nature" are ok too. But that´s it for me - and I strictly rate the music on this album and do not rate his controversial personality. 3,5

"Maid Of Orleans" alone don´t makes it a good album for me. (I rated the 9-tracks original album.) 2,5

Neil Young is always a solid pick for me. And "After The Gold Rush" is a very well crafted round album without fails. Favourite songs: "Southern Man", "When You Dance I Can Really Love"

The album starts strong and never lowers the level. On top it has got the hit-singles "Common People" and "Disco 2000". Very diversified. Fun to listen to every single time. Britpop at it´s best. Simply a "Different Class" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ While I actually own this one as a CD I'd like to give extra credit to the Cover-Concept and Artwork with the picture frame and all the different fotos.

Band and album had been all new to me. And this album seems to divide the reviewers in Lovers🥰 and Haters🤮. For me it is somewhere in between. I hear many things that I like. But it´s - like the strange title indicates - also very weird. Partly sounds like someone singing in a room with both the TV and the radio on.🥴 Glad to discover this interesting, alternative-listening-experience. My first thoughts while listening to this: "Smokie - or what?" Just ok. But nothing special or remarkable for me. 2,5

Sounds like Elton John sounds. Some ok numbers like "Tiny Dancer" but overall too many versions of "Candle In The Wind" 😉 Not really bad but without his charismatic voice and personality noone would talk about a single song from this album. 2,5

Gunfire drums, screaming guitars, relavant lyrics and melodies that stay in your ear all day long. This is what the "WAR"-album is about and it´s why U2 became rock-superstars! With "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year´s Day" it contains two eternal rock-anthems! Some weaker numbers cost it the fifth star for me. 4,5

His Bowieness 👑 with another masterpiece! Although the time of Bowies hit-singles is long over, one can find here only great songs. Very diversified. Excellent production. High creativity. A real good live performance but I generally question live-albums on this list because it´s nothing but the greatest hits with a lot of instrumental solos.

There is a reason Brian Eno is the go-to-guy for so many artists when it comes to music production. He´s got a lot of musically talent. But he is lacking at least a remarkable voice for beeing a solo artist. Favourite: "Backwater", "Kurt´s Rejoinder", "King´s Lead Hat" 2,5

Not really my jam, but everyone knows the song "...Baby One More Time". And yes - it´s a million-selling album with a few more hit-singles. But none of the other tracks on this album reaches the quality of the title-track.

This album has got almost every facet I love within music, except a decent voice. 🤷‍♂️ Doesn´t sound much like 70´s. Very vital. And it´s astonishing how many songs do remind me on other artists/bands I know. "Chelsea" for example could easily be a Red Hot Chili Peppers classic! 😉 Give it another singer and a modern production and it surely would be a blast even more. Favorite: "Lipstick Vogue", "This Year´s Girl", "The Beat", "Pump It Up", "Radio Radio"

The second Radiohead-album I bought and still one of my favorite. I love the atmospheric, melodic and energetic sound on this album with electronic elements, driving drumbeats and basslines and nice guitars. Very diversified. Favorite tracks: "2 + 2 = 5", "Where I End and You Begin", "The Gloaming", "There there", "A Punchup at a Wedding" 4,5

Never heared of JSBE before, but I got quite surprised by this album. Always wild, sometimes hard to digest, sometimes on the edge to annoying. But if you forget about the starting scream and the last track it´s most of the time fun to listen to. A weird mixture of Stones, Hives, AC/DC and Lenny Kravitz. Not an every day pick.

Intense 15 minutes of Punk. Exactly the amount of this kind of music one can digest. But I wouldn´t consider that an album! It´s just an EP and therefor I give them only two stars. 🤷‍♂️ 2,5

Never listened to any Jack White outside of the White Stripes before. And there it is again: the energetic White Stripes- sound. 🎸🥁 🎹 But it has widened and developed. Not reduced and pure any more. Much more diversified and even more listenable. No fails. Probably a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ album but therefor I need a few more listens. Favourite: "Sixteen Saltines", "Weep Themselves To Sleep", "Take Me With You When You Go"

Yes - The Rolling Stones are a great band! And they all are great musicians! And they love to play music - especially the blues! And this album contains their classics "Tumbling Dice", "Sweet Virginia" and "Shine A Light". But like so many others they failed to hold my attention high for the length of a full double album. Even there is not a single bad song. But too less of them really stand out. Often less would be more. 🤷‍♂️ 3,5

Although I´m not a Led Zeppelin fan and I have heard it a thousand times, I can´t resit "Whole Lotta Love". "Thank You" and "Ramble On" are good as well. Overall a pretty good classic rock album but not exactly my jam.

For me with Elvis Costello it´s almost like that: voice - meh; music - good. But this time even the music doesn´t convince me. Pretty below average! I can't see any reason why this album is on the list, because there are already other and even better Costello albums listed.

First I thought it´s just ok, but "Frankie Teardrop" made it almost unlistenable for me.

I find it difficult to rate "The Beatles" down because everyone is so used to their songs and sound. And all the songs are short so they don´t suck or bore. The A-side contains the best known "Drive My Car", "Nowhere Man" and "Michelle". The whole B-side for me is not at that level. 3,5

I love "Working Class Hero". "I Found Out" and "Remember" are ok. And I like the music on "Well, Well, Well". But I really don´t need to hear John Lennon scream on a record. One star down! 2,5

"100%", "Sugar Kane", "Theresa´s Sound-World", "Orange Rolls, Angel´s Spit", "Youth Against Fascism", "On The Strip", "Chapel Hill", "Purr" - consistently pretty good grungy songs. But especially on the fist half of the album also some weaker tracks. Hard for me to decide between 3 and 4 stars!

"Rikki Don't Lose That Number" is the well-known opener of this high-quality pop-rock-jazz-blues-album. Not a weak song but also not a single banger for me. 3,5

A few highlights like "My Sweet Lord" or "What Is Life" but over all quite boring. Every single song is way too long and therefore the whole album is much too long! 2,5

Here and then some nice guitar-hints like on "A Minha Menina", "Baby". Nice change from the other albums but not really my jam and over all it sounds a bit too aged for me. favourite: "Ave Gengis Khan"

Until today I had known Joy Division only by name. I love the music (⭐⭐⭐⭐) especially the drum and bass work. But as soon the vocals start I don´t like it that much any more. Favourite: "Passover", "A Means to an End", "Twenty Four Hours"

The whole album is very easy listening. Great voice. Soulful music. And of course the outstanding "Let's Stay Together". Not exacly my jam but nonetheless really good. 3,5

"Where Is My Mind?" is an absolut banger!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And I already loved "Cactus" as a cover by David Bowie not knowing the original is by The Pixies. 🤘 In general I like the music on almost every track. But sometimes for instance on "Something Against You", "River Euphrates" or "Broken Face" I can´t handle the voices. One star down. 3,5

Interesting change from the other albums. Not bad although it is not my prefered style of music. Some nice pieces but not enought to keep my attention for over 70 minutes. "The World's Columbian Exposition Part II...", "Chicago", "The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts" and "They Are Night Zombies!!..." are remarkable for me. 2,5

There are so many songs on this album like "I Feel the Earth Move", "Beautiful", "You've Got a Friend", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" that have crossed my way serveral times, not knowing they are from Carole King‼ Unbelievable🤦‍♂️ I love her voice and I like every song on this album although it´s not my prefered style of music. "Papa Won't Leave You, Henry" and "Brother, My Cup Is Empty" are o.k. But the whole album don´t catches me at all.

"Parental Discretion Iz Advised" has a nice groove. Because of the Beastie Boys samples on "8 Ball (Remix)" this one is o.k. too. One of the better hip-hop albums but still not my prefered stuff. 2,5

Johnny Cash had the ability to build this unique, reduced, atmospheric sound of dark voice and guitar, so even all these cover-versions sound like Johnny Cash. And just because of the different origins of the songs this album sounds more diversified than other Johnny Cash albums. This album held a few surprises for me, because I had not known that the blueprint for "Gangsta’s Paradise" with "Pastime Paradise" is by Stevie Wonder and George Michaels "As" is originally by Stevie Wonder too. In addition there are the well known hits "Sir Duke", "Isn't She Lovely" and "Another Star". But besides all these hits the album is too long for me and has too many songs that don´t catch me at all. As often - less would be more 🤷‍♂️ As always his harmonica-play is great! 3,5

The album contains his megahits "Red Rain", "Sledgehammer", "Don't Give Up" and "Big Time"! The other weaker numbers in this cost him the five stars for me.

While having this album pop up, I immediately had "Why Does It Always Rain On Me" in my ear. This says a lot - about this specific song! But "Writing To Reach You", "Driftwood", "The Last Laugh Of The Laughter" and "Turn" are good as well. Over all a well crafted, very melodic and melancholic album. I like their sound. And with the hit-singles "Tonight, Tonight", "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and especially "1979"‼ they had the basis for 40 mindblowing minutes. But a double album with almost two hours running time is a task much greater artists have already failed. And so have the Smashing Pumpkins for me too! One star down for not cutting it down to the (great) essence. 2,5

Four gifted musicians in a band that will become one of the greatest Rock Bands of the 70's and 80's are still looking for her own signature-sound on this album and by the way creating a proper Rock album. Not my favourite Queen album but still way ahead of so many other albums on this selection.

Containing an anthem like "Angels" the other tracks on this album seem to me even weaker than they already are. (To be honest "Let Me Entertain You" is fun too.)

I had a grin on my face with this album popping up. Because with AC/DC you always know what you will get. High quality hard rock with an unique sound and energetic guitars. And on this particular album on top the two all-time-classics "Highway To Hell" and "Touch Too Much". 3,5

On this album there is the very catchy "Here Comes Your Man". But overall I like the music much more than the vocals/screaming! worst: "I Bleed"

I had already forgotten how I love the song "Animal Nitrate"! But the rest of the album can't hold this level although I really like the guitars on it.

I like the cover-artwork but the music sucks.

Interesting introduction and I needed a few runs to get used to it. I really like their musical style. But most of the tracks don't feel like complete songs. They feel kind of unfinished like on a demo-tape and a bit unambitious and therefore the whole album can sometimes be as annoying as tik-tok. It's a pity because there is enough potential on this for a proper album with 8 to 10 full songs and at least a four stars rating!

I have already known the three hits ("Golden Years", "TLC15", "Wild Is The Wind") but I had'nt listened to this whole album before. With 50% of the songs beeing hits (but not his biggest) and no fails this album is an easy four stars rating for me. And very little is missing for his bowieness to the five stars. favourite musically: "Stay" favourite vocally: "Wild Is The Wind" 4,5

I'm glad that at the time of release there was no stream available! Who knows - the album probably would not only use the full capcity of a CD but the full capacity of a server?! It constantly varies between something that I mostly would describe as noise and something that could become music and back to noise. Simply not my jam! 1,5

After yesterday's "Sabres of Paradise" I am glad to finally have real music here. The mojo works perfectly on this and I don't want to forget to mention the harmonica. But as always I rate it down one star just because it's a live album. 2,5

Musically o.k. but on most of the songs the vocals are annoying. "Take Me To The River" secures them the very weak three stars for me. 2,5

Never heared of them before. There is the Bowieesk "Opus 40" and a few other o.k. songs ("Goddess on a Hiway", "The Funny Bird", "Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp"), but especially the wha-wha doodle-doodle- sound on some tracks is hard to stand for me. 2,5

Besides the all-time classic "Bad Moon Rising" and "Lodi" it's just solid, good old (southern) rock for me.

I really loved the three hits "School", "Bloody Well Right" and "Dreamer" right from the start. To get used to the rest of the album I needed a few runs. I've never heared of this guy before. The album starts very calm but then holds enough tension to keep it interesting. And the more I get into this album the more I hear reminiscences to other artists (Beatles, Bowie, Stevens...?) Neither an outstanding nor a bad song on. So it's hard for me to decide between three and four stars. 3,5

This kind of vocal/acapella music is really not my favour.

The all-time banger "More Than A Feeling" plus "Peace Of Mind" and "Long Time" are standards in classic rock. But for my taste the whole album is a bit too much classic? 3,5

Nice rock and roll album in best "Stones" manner. Fun listen. worst: "Evil Hearted Ada" 3,5 (Rated the 9 tracks original album because the CD bonus tracks add nothing special or remarkable for me)

The album first increases track by track ("Funky Music Sho Nuff Turns Me On", "Run Charlie Run") and peakes with the great "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". But after that for me it again becomes lamer and lamer.

His voice is really not my favour but somehow fits better to the bluesy style on this album than on his albums from this list I had prior. Weak three stars and no heartattack for this. 2,5

My personal album of the year 2006. Full of fresh, energetic, fun and in a best way kind of spewed out songs.

For any reasons I had higher expectations on this album?! But it turned out for me that it's just solid. Weak three stars for the Neon Bible. favourite: "Intervention", "No Cars Go" 2,5

Didn't knew anything from this album except the banger "That's Entertainment" not even knowing it is by The Jam! What a shame! Great album that loses a bit quality within the last songs.
