1001 Albums Summary

Thoroughly enjoyed. Gave me great teenage nostalgia. Track wise there were some skips, but all in all a solid effort.

Deliciously synthy and industrial. Loved when Ian's voice went up an octave in certain songs. Was great to hear this in full as only really knew Disorder.

Now that's how you open an album. What a fantastic first track. Really enjoyed El Condor Pasa.

Great heavy sound, but only really liked 3 or 4 tracks

Made me feel sad, somehow. I enjoyed the songs but the whole album had a melancholy feel.

Tom Morello brings the musicality up to a good level but I'm not a fan of Zack's vocals. Wake Up is great, but the songs seem to fall into the trap of all sounding the same.

Some songs were bangers, some felt childish and sulky. They didn't quite land. The funky samples made up for it.

This was chaotic, eclectic and jumped all over the place like a cricket on amphetamines... I liked snippets of the songs but overall it just felt clumsy.

Loved some parts, bored to tears at others.

Great emotion and musicality. The whole album blends well together. Enjoyed thoroughly.

Damaged is definitely the word. Crap.

Phil Lynott's vocals were ace. Very guitar solo heavy and potentially too long.

Inoffensive, but samey.

Every song is an emotional tour de force. Granted there's the big hitters, but every track can stand for itself. Opening with Thunder Road is a genius move.

Soft, driving beats and luscious melodies. Adored it.

Pleasant. Not necessarily my cup of tea but I didn't hate it. Okay as background music but not sure I'd listen to it out of choice again.

Overly long, every song sounds identical, felt like distinct lack of creativity.

Funky and fun.

Flawless. Painfully beautiful and melodic, there's not been an album quite like it since.

Fantastic. Stop Me... swum around in my head all day after listening. The change in pace that Johnny Marr influenced really shows; I dare say this is their best.

I'm not sure i liked it as much as I did as a teen; it plays differently now. A bit clunky and disjointed in places.

I'm really not a fan of swing or jazz, but this was alright. I can appreciate the musicality and the talent and that's why I've given it 2 stars, as we all know this isn't a "my favourite albums" list.

Absolute dross

Started off a bit meh, got to On Battleship Hill and thought "This is more like it" and then it stayed at a plateau until the end. I think I had more expectation from PJ Harvey, although I did like the overall 'minor key' feel of the album

Did not listen. Could not bear his voice for more than 35 seconds. Shudder.

Sounded like Captain Jack Sparrow had made an album about carnival buskers. Wasn't enamoured.

Pleasant background noise. At one point I forgot I was even listening to it, it was that 'meh', but I'm not mad about it.

Reminds me of being 7 years old and listening to this on cassette. The nostalgia hits HARD. In Bloom will forever be stamped on my heart. Not a bad track in the whole album.

Gorgeous album with swooping melodies and gentle beats. Funnily enough the only song that doesn't really fit the vibe is "All I Need" which is a great song on its own. This album makes me think of hangovers and lying in the sun.

Cass has a great voice. Some lovely harmonies but the lyrics are cack. If it wasn't for California Dreamin' this would be 2 stars.

Enjoyed this, had a CCR feel which is hardly surprising. Just too long!

It really isn't her best. Some good tracks but that cover of American Pie is so bad.

It hasn't aged as well as I thought it would. It Was A Good Day is the only track I really liked on this listen.

I already knew I'd give this 5. An album that shaped my teenage years. Saccharine angst and Love's snarling vocals make for a corker of an album. Favourites are still Violet and Asking For It.

Monsters is a great track. The rest were repetitive and genuinely boring.

Completely non-cohesive and muddled, like they were attempting 5 different genres, time signatures and emotions in every song. Just made me angry listening to it.

Hasn't aged well. I prefer him when he's funny instead of just pure rage.

Finally! An album that surprised me, in a good way. What a corker! A perfect album for this heatwave we are having (June 2026), I have thoroughly enjoyed the delicious mix of shoegaze and indie pop. Will revisit for sure.

Astounding. Funky as heck, Dave Byrne being a crazy genius and just generally fantastic. One of my favourites.

Lovely

There's genuinely two good-ish tracks on here. The rest is shit played in late bars in the city, back when we used to drink Jagerbombs and pretend our heels weren't killing our feet. It’s that generic that even our parents said "ooh this is a good dancey song!"

What an astoundingly beautiful piece of work. Dripping with soul and sex. If I could give more stars, I would.

The musical equivalent of Starbucks. I feel like I should like it, everyone else seems to sing its praises; it is a household name and apparently a trailblazer in their field; it opened up the game for more artists who wanted to copy them. But when it comes down to it... it's basically just a shitty cup of coffee. Its bland and lifeless. I can see why people loved it when they first tried it, as it was like nothing they had had before. But essentially new coffee does it better, this is just a brand name and tired.

It's a racket, is what it is.

What a corker, only dropped to 4 stars as not all the songs grabbed me.

The album cover put me off. Never judge a book by its cover, evidently. Great album, high octane and bonkers.

I'd always thought Adele had a great voice. By track 3 I had had enough. Rolling In The Deep obviously a banger, as is Someone Like You. Everything in the middle was bland and dull. Don't even get me started on that shite cover of The Cure's Lovesong.

Took me by surprise but a fantastic album.

Gorgeous vocals, delightful melodies and all in all a great all rounder.

Grew up on The Boss. Opens with a powerhouse track and dips slightly in the middle, ending strong.

Surprisingly good synth tracks and overall a decent feel. Really not a fan of the vocals though. Best track for me was Lies; gave juicy Depeche Mode vibes.

I thought i would like this more

Okay, so. I remember an ex of mine being really into The Pharcyde, but I'd forgotten all about them until now. It has promise, it does. Then it goes and uses soft jazz samples in the background which throws everything all out of whack. It could have been a great rap album, but it just... isn't.

I really like Echo normally but this just didn't hit.

Incredible from start to finish. A showcase of her talent in vocals and musicality but also highlighting her gorgeous storytelling and theatrical prowess.

Yeah, I mean, they're not The Kinks but they'll do.

I didn't hate it, but it didn't blow me away either. Good Country music.

This album shaped my childhood and still one of my favourites. Not one bad track.

King Louie the orangutan chucking out those juicy big band swing jazz vibes. Stupidly fun.
