More of a continuation of A Night At The Opera than a follow-up or sequel. I think I've heard the band say the same thing in interviews. Like these two albums could've been a double album. Aside from the similarities with the previous album, each song is great in its own right.

Barely noticed I had listened to the whole album. Don't remember a thing. Was I in a coma? 2 stars because maybe that was the intention and it's not totally a bad thing?

Overplayed 2010s hipster fodder. Wouldn't mind it if it were an instrumental album. Patience was nice.

Could never get past that nasally voice.

It's like several of the songs use the same backing track.

Funny, I was just thinking of how I've had to wade through a lot of rubbish in this post-1001 list when I saw the next album was...garbage. Also funny how this ended up being the better album that's popped up in a while.

I didn't bother to find the other songs that Spotify didn't have from this album, but it did lead to a rabbit hole of Ethopian Jazz that helped the afternoon at work pass nicely.

I remember everyone being like "no she's legit now", but I don't see anything notable here. Not horrible for what it is, but not amazing.

Okay after you get past the first track.

I bought this CD in 2003. The novelty of the violin wore out fast. But kudos to them for trying something new. I ended up getting rid of the CD not long after that, but I must have listened to it a lot because I was surprised to find myself remembering almost every song after 20+ years. It's okay. I could still do without the violin.

You can still be monotone when you're screaming.

A worthwhile addition to the list. Reminds me of Steve Reich or Philip Glass.

Shiny Happy People will always be connected to my memories of my radio alarm clock in 4th grade. Seems the radio station was always playing it around the same time in the mornings. I've always been back and forth with R.E.M. This is one of their better albums I've heard. Surprised it wasn't on the main list.

Needs pruning.

When My Mind Sedate started I knew that this was not the band or the album I knew it from. Back in 2003 I bought a CD by Pacifier that had this song but not the others. Then I find out that was probably just the US version of another album, which is now by a band called Shihad? Very strange.

Once they get a drum track they like they stick with it.

I like Pedro The Lion, but not this album so much.

Were there soundtracks on the original list? If not, I think there was a reason for that. Soundtracks are kind of a different experience from albums.

The cover "art" should've been a clue. The first two seconds should've been a clue. I heard the whine/mumbling and I skipped to the next song. More of the same. Wish I hadn't listened at all. I had plenty of warning. Not worth it.

So glad someone out there has good taste. I was about to give up on this user list.

I never thought much of John Mayer until after I waded through all of the sludge in this list.

From all the talk around him, this was disappointing.

Soundtracks are another animal. An album is the full intended experience, but soundtracks are only half of it. They can't really be compared together.

Seemed like there was supposed to be some kind of "message" but I don't know what that would be. The last half seemed like a completely different album.

I'm not buying all the praise for this. It sounds just like every other drawn out synth music ripe for subliminal messaging and self-hypnosis tapes. Nothing remarkable or unique whatsoever.
