hardcore is one of my favorite genres, but what the actual fuck is this album
wasn't really a hardcore album as it had been labeled, wasn't too enjoyable of a listen
this sounds like all my least favorite bowie songs. it's boring, all the songs feel like they last for double their length.
bob dylan has always been pretty hit or miss for me, and this record is no exception. except in this case the hits greatly out way the misses, tangled up in blue and shelter from the storm are now some of my favorite dylan songs. this record is my favorite dylan album, and my favorite folk album as a whole.
hardcore is one of my favorite genres, but what the actual fuck is this album
the rolling stones never seem to live up to their reputation. this album is no exception, it just feels like an album full of rock n roll that never really reaches the heights of any of its competition
johnny rotten is a bigoted, arrogant prick that can't even sing. the only track i enjoyed on the album was religion 1, but only because it has a message i agree with. rotten's voice is grating and all around bad compared to his work with the sex pistols, an era he's been trying to relive his entire life.
album wasn't available on spotify except for two songs and a few bonus tracks. moby grape feels like an unimaginative neil young covering bob dylan.
motorhead is an artist i've been trying to get into for a while, and i feel like this is the key to it. lemmy and the band have an incredible live sound, they sound just like they do in the studio; if not a little better. the full album was too long for me, so i just listened to the "england, 1981" songs because it's the same setlist over and over for the entire album. a 4 and a half would be a better option, but that isn't happening so it's a 5 from me
the album felt like something brittany spears would make as a collaboration with travis barker
a blend of sex pistols and the smiths that works well in some places, but falls quite short in others
definitely an interesting album. the songs felt unnecessarily long, but there were a few hidden gems on here. you can definitely see how this inspired groups like the white stripes, gorillaz and the strokes
the greatest glam album ever made. changes is a perfect glimpse into bowie's mindset and an incredible album opener. life on mars? is one of bowie's true masterpieces; it's an absolutely perfect song and one of the best pieces of music to come out of the 70s. kooks is a cliche, but interesting song. from what I've heard there seems to be a lot of hate towards quicksand in the bowie fandom, but it's one of my favorites off this album and by him in general.
glorified country album. white line is the only song i enjoyed, most songs are far too long.
the album felt like the same song played 10 times, but it was a decent song so 2.5/5
perfect slice of post-beatles pop rock. the only track i don't like is "rainy day in june". my favorite is "most exclusive residence for sale".
sunday morning is one of my favorite classic rock/alternative songs. it's so simple, but emotionally complex and almost entrancing. im waiting for the man is a catchy presumably queer, love song with an awesome riff. even though i don't like nico at all as a person, she is a beautiful singer on femme fatale. venus in furs is an interesting song musically and lyrically, but it has a unique charm run run run remains me of bob dylan and other late 50s/early 60s rock and alternative groups. sadly, i have to say it's my least favorite, i come to lou reed for lyrical content, and this feels mostly instrumental and lyrically hollow. all tomorrow's parties is just- kinda bland. nothing really notable about it if i can remember. heroin is a heartbreakingly perfectly ode to the drug and lou's addictions throughout his life. it slowly builds to an incredible conclusion and is probably the best track on the latter half of the album. there she goes again is a good track. however i do feel like it's mostly filler. i'll be your mirror is absolutely perfect. it's one of the best alternative love songs ever written, and i plan to play it at my wedding if i ever get married. the black angel's death song is a sweeping almost horror song, which is almost definitely the inspiration for the halloween theme. overall, a 4.75/5. genuinely one of the most influential albums of all time, even if some of the tracks aren't up my alley.
a bit underwhelming in all honesty with the mythos around jim morrison, but still a damn good album.
genuinely one of the greatest albums of all time. in modern rock music, you don't hear the beatles or the rolling stones, you hear this album and the velvet underground
the perfect early metal album, almost flawless except it feels too slow in places. paranoid was the second song i ever learned on guitar so it has a special place in my heart. favorite tracks - war pigs, paranoid, iron man, planet caravan least favorite tracks - hand of doom
this is the album that got me into music, therefore my favorite of all time.
i honestly can't say anything that hasn't been said before. this is incredible.
gave this album a spin since i have it on vinyl, still blows me away years after i first got it.
