A bit rough but pretty fun otherwise. Absolutely love the guitar riffs and bass. I wish the songs were longer, but their length gives them their charm. Really creative album title, and really cool cover. Fave track(s): When Ya Get Drafted, Let's Lynch The Landlord
I mean I guess I can see how this would've been groundbreaking for the time, but I kind of really didn't like it. The instrumentals are fine but the vocals threw me off. Was losing my mind at "Girl" and "Frankie Teardrop", and not in a good way. No fave track.
Had never listened to the whole thing in one sitting until now. The instrumentals are ethereal. The vocals are so smooth and pair extremely well with the tone of the music. I can definitely see why it is considered a classic. It's extremely difficult to pick a favorite when they all sound so heavenly. The Great Gig In The Sky made me feel like I was in space. Loved the cathedral-like instrumentals in the beginning of Us and Them. Fave track(s): Money, The Great Gig In The Sky
This is definitely something I would listen to on my own and it deserves more fame. I love the guitar and bass on this entire album. The vocals are strong and very angsty, hence why I would listen to it on my own. Love the strings in Man-Size Sextet. Fave track(s): Dry, Snake
Some of the song titles made me laugh, but regarding the music, it's completely different from the "Let It Be" most people think about. Its very angsty and reminds me of more modern stuff. The music sometimes drowns out the vocals. Overall good, but I'm not sure I would go back and listen again. Fave track(s): I Will Dare, Black Diamond
I'm always kind of cautious whenever I listen to the Beatles. I had listened to this album before, but I hadn't paid special attention to it. I'm starting to appreciate Eleanor Rigby more, especially because of the strings. Here, There, and Everywhere makes me feel sort of nostalgic for past friendships. Yellow Submarine reminds me of my childhood, because my mom would always play that song for me. I love the guitar riff on And Your Bird Can Sing. This is definitely one of their best albums. Fave track(s): Taxman, I'm Only Sleeping
I'm not going to lie I was kind of scared going into this album, not because it's Slipknot, but because I had just gotten a Beatles album the previous day. I'd only head a couple of Slipknot songs prior to this album, so I guess this was my real introduction to Slipknot. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Obviously I wouldn't normally go about my day listening to this, like it isn't something I would listen to it on my own, but for a first listen its not bad. Screaming like that can't be healthy, though. Fave track(s): Eyeless
I appreciate the experimentalism and the amount of sampling, but I'm sure each song could be better without certain aspects or noises. Overall, it's different. I wouldn't say I really enjoyed listening to it. Fave track(s): Regiment
I don't have much to say about this album, but it's pretty alright. I appreciate the calm and softness of the vocals, and of course I'm going to mention the strings. I love hearing strings, mainly violin on any record. Black Mirror was a great song to start the album with. Fave track(s): Intervention, The Well and the Lighthouse
Definitely wouldn't listen to this on my own but it is good background music while working. I do appreciate the basslines, though. Overall alright but I wouldn't go back. Really nice album cover. Fave track: Crazy Love, Vol. II
Didn't know what to expect, but I kind of expected more. Most songs are decent but they could probably sound better without so much distortion, especially in the first half of the album. It was good background music, though. Also, cool band name. Fave track(s): new you, in another way, nothing is
This album really reminds me of Arctic Monkeys, and not just because of Alex Turner's vocals. The sorrow tone and characteristic Turner lyrics really tie it in. The instrumentals are so beautiful, especially in Only The Truth. Also, I just have to mention the strings, it makes everything so much more magical. Overall, it's a good album and I could see myself going back to it at some point. Fave track(s): Separate and Ever Deadly, Only the Truth, I Don't Like You Anymore, The Meeting Place
Prince's voice is so unique. This album is both so funky and chill. I haven't listened to many Prince songs, but I definitely think this has to be some of his best work. Also, the bass lines are so good. Face track(s): The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
I love concept albums. This one in particular sounds like it could be a play or even a musical. However, I feel like I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I do like that the songs blend in together, though. Also, I don't know why but this album gave me Wizard of Oz vibes, no particular reason. No track really stood out. Fave track(s): Go To the Mirror!
This album sounds like what I expected to sound like. I'm not really that into it, but she has a really nice voice. I would be lying if I said I didn't get bored of it at least once. Fave track(s): What I Can Do For You
This album is a lot softer than I expected, if I'm being honest. A lot of the guitar riffs were pretty unique. I don't have much else to say about it either though. Very general rock, and it's good but not something I would look back on. Fave track(s): Anything That's Rock 'n' Roll
Was very excited going into this album. The production is definitely something. I wouldn't say it's unique but very lively. I love instrumentals especially in Passing Complexion, but the vocals could do better in terms of volume. Fave track(s): Passing Complexion, Kerosene, Stinking Drunk
This album is so cozy even with Reed's imperfect voice. Perfect Day sounds like something straight out of a movie soundtrack. Also the production quality sounds way better than other albums from its time. Fave track(s): Perfect Day, Satellite of Love
Was pleasantly surprised by this album. While the lyrics aren't my favorite (especially because of the slur), most of the songs were really good. Like the lyrics, the vocals aren't what attracted me the most, but the instrumentals are so fun. The bass lines remind me of Queen. Fave track(s): Senior Service, Party Girl, Goon Squad
I have a friend who's very into Smith and I can see why now. The singer songwriter vibes of the album make it very relatable and cozy. The piano and vocals in Everything Means Nothing to Me are beautiful. Fave track(s): Son of Sam, L.A., Stupidity Tries, Can't Make A Sound
These guys deserve more recognition than what they've gotten for Tainted Love (which is absolutely iconic). As someone who doesn't listen to much 80s pop, this album makes me appreciate it more. This is something I would listen to in art class, but not on the regular. Sex Dwarf threw me off, though. Fave track(s): Frustration, Entertain Me
I didn't think much of this album until the later part of the first half. Kravitz knows how to show desire and longing in his lyrics. Fave track(s): I Build This Garden For Us
This album is beautiful. I will admit that a few songs were a bit boring, but for the most part I enjoyed every song to some extent. Like A Friend was a great song to end the album with. Also, I love this music video for This Is Hardcore. Fave track(s): Help The Aged, This Is Hardcore, I'm A Man, The Day After the Revolution, Like A Friend
As someone who grew up listening to Nirvana, it's great seeing this album here. This is one of my favorite Nirvana albums, the amount of angst and anger in some of these tracks is one of the best factors of it. Never boring. Fave track(s): Lounge Act, Breed, On A Plain
The vocals kind of throw me off, it's like Waits is trying too hard, but the guitar is really nice. This sounds likes something you would hear at some type of underground club. Fave track(s): In Shades
This was my real introduction to Yeah Yeah Yeahs besides Heads Will Roll, because that's already iconic in itself. Karen O's voice is so soothing, and these songs sound so fun to see live. Also, I love the album cover. Fave track(s): Soft Shock, Dull Life, Dragon Queen
I was kind of shocked to see the global rating on this one cause it's honestly not even bad. It's mostly calming and the instrumentals on some of the songs are pretty fun. The album cover doesn't really accurately represent the music, though. Fave track(s): Maxine, The Nightfly
I really didn't expect to see this album here despite it being a classic. Extremely influential and definitely a product of its time. You just had to be there, though. Fave track(s): Can't Believe You Wanna Leave
Simple, but fun. I can definitely see how this influenced/changed/made the scene. Love the lyrics and album cover. Fave track(s): Master Race Rock
Funny that everyone gets this one Christmas. Such classic songs, and all of the renditions just scream true Christmas. Fave track(s): White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, A Marshmallow World
Amazing vocals and guitar riffs. Had never heard of this band before, but I love their sound. Also love the album cover. Fave track(s): Tracy's Flaw, The Skank Heads, Lately, Cheap Honesty
I would say this sounds like generic rock from its time period, but there are a few good riffs on this. Sometimes the instrumentals drown out the vocals, though. Not a fan of the album cover. Fav track(s): Rack My Mind
A bit rough but pretty fun otherwise. Absolutely love the guitar riffs and bass. I wish the songs were longer, but their length gives them their charm. Really creative album title, and really cool cover. Fave track(s): When Ya Get Drafted, Let's Lynch The Landlord
Classic Elton John. I hadn't had the time to get into his music, but it's pretty alright. While it is a beautiful album, some songs did sound sort of repetitive. Don't know if I would go back, but for a one time listen it was good. Fave track(s): Indian Sunset, Rotten Peaches
Very 80s but also very unique at the same time. The fade out of a lot of the songs does throw me off though. Regardless, most of the songs are really fun and not what I expected out of an album from the 80s. Reminisce (Pt.1) was an interesting end to this. Fave track(s): All In All (This One Last Wild Waltz), Old, Plan B
Definitely psychedelic and not what I expected. I wouldn't say it's shit, but the first track was very interesting to say the least, I also don't entirely understand it, I guess. It got better as it went on. Very Alice in Wonderland vibes. Organized chaos. Fave track(s): Hard Coming Love, Cloud Song, Coming Down, No Love To Give
I wasn't really expecting to like this especially when I saw the country tag, but it was pretty alright. Nilsson's voice is definitely underappreciated. Fave track(s): Gotta Get Up
Not something I'm really into. The vocals are beautiful, and I appreciate the every song actually does sound different, but I wouldn't go back to this. Interesting band name, though. Fave track(s): Hot Burrito #1
Beautiful album, I really didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Not a fan of the album cover, but Veloso's vocals are so smooth and enchanting. Something out of a movie set in paradise. Fave track(s): Clarice
Overall a good album, but there's nothing that's super special about it. Very 80s, something you might hear on radio. Other than that, it was an alright listen but none of the songs really struck me differently. Fave track(s): Mental Beat
Great instrumentals and vocals. This isn't for me, but I see how it would've been different for the time. Fave track(s): Chest Fever, I Shall Be Released
Really interesting sound and not at all what I expected to see on here. Don't know if I would go back to this but their sound is definitely unique. Cool instrumentals. I wonder how these songs are performed live. Fave track(s): Stillness Is The Move, Useful Chamber, Remade Horizon
Nothing too special but very enjoyable nonetheless. Album cover doesn't match the sound at all. Interesting instrumentals. Alternate Route to Vulcan Street was a good song to place in the beginning. Fave track(s): Receptacle for the Respectable, Presidential Suite
Not really my vibe and horrible dude. I got bored of this really quickly. There's nothing really that special about this. Fave track(s): Bartering Lines
Chaotic yet relaxing at the same time. Radiohead's music always has an ethereal feeling to it. Beautiful instrumentals and vocals. The video for There, There is so insanely creative. Fave track(s): Sail To The Moon
Didn't realize this would count as rock but this album is great. Turner has such a powerful voice. Most songs were really good, but not too many stuck out to me. Fave track(s): Steel Claw
This felt shorter than it should have, but really great stuff. I didn't pay too much attention to the lyrics, but I love the guitar and instrumentals in general. I felt that a lot was blended together, though. Besides that, if there were more variation throughout I might've liked it more. Fave track(s): Loose, Dirt
I had listened to a few System of A Down songs prior to this album, but I really liked this. I didn't expect it to sound as well produced as it did, it doesn't sound too raw especially for a debut album. Serj Tankian's voice is really something. Love the guitar in DDevil. Fave track(s): Suite-Pee, Spiders, Soil
Absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. You can really tell Bowie was giving it his all for his album. Unique instrumentals as well. Every song has this ethereal power to it. Really amazing album. Fave track(s): 'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore, Girl Loves me, I Can't Give Everything
With complete honesty, I got a bit bored of this album after the first song. McLean has a beautiful voice and can definitely write a sad song, but other than that, I didn't find appeal. Fave track(s): American Pie
Overall a pretty alright album, but I feel that it dragged on longer than it should have. I didn't feel anything was too special besides the occasional experimentation. Fave track(s): Safesurfer, You...
Really great album. The instrumentals are cool, I think my mind would have been blown if I listened to this when it came out. It would've been more digestible if the songs were shorter, but overall I liked every song. Fave track(s): Epitaph, The Court of the Crimson King
I didn't find anything too special about this and I found myself listening without acknowledging the names. Overall, it was good but nothing distinct. Fave track(s): Shadow Of The Sun
This is my introduction to Black Sabbath, and it's pretty good. Even though it's what I expected, the riffs are awesome. I don't have much to say but great music. Fave track(s): Cornucopia, Supernaut, Under the Sun
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, but Paradise By the Dashboard Light is still my favorite. At times the lyrics were cheesy, but the instrumentals were great. Also, the album cover is good. Fave track(s): Bat Out of Hell, Paradise By the Dashboard Light
Very dark album. I like it though, not too experimental or different but enjoyable nonetheless. Definitely something to listen to on rainy days. Fave track(s): A Means to an End, The Eternal
I didn't think I was going to like it because of the first track, but the other tracks were way better. Love the instrumentals in most tracks, especially the piano in Uncertain Smile. Not a fan of the album cover, though. Fave track(s): Uncertain Smile, This Is The Day
Wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did mainly because I didn't like Hotel California when I was growing up. After a good listen, I think I do appreciate it more, especially the instrumentals, which are great. Definitely dad music. Fave track(s): Hotel California, New Kid in Town
I didn't expect too much from the ratings, but I really liked this. This whole albums sounds like it's set in a fantasy land. It almost reminds me of Queen's first two albums. I don't know whether I'll come back to this but it was a fun listen. Fave track(s): Dancing With The Moonlight Knight, The Cinema Show
I was pleasantly surprised with this one. After being left confused with Pencil Skirt, I didn't expect it to get better, but it did. I pretty much liked each track for different reasons. Also, cool album cover. Fave track(s): I Spy, Disco 2000, Live Bed Show, Bar Italia
Just seeing his face makes me annoyed, but I do have to admit that some of the songs on his album were really good. Not a fan of the album cover or name, but the music itself is alright for the most part. Fave track(s): You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side, I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday
Pretty great album but some of the songs blended together for me. Other than that, this album had some good riffs and lyrics. Fave track(s): Geek U.S.A., Mayonaise
Very interesting sound but I'm into it. You can tell that they were really using their creativity for this. Overall, I enjoyed it. Fave track(s): Clockwork Creep, Silly Love
Full of iconic songs, all which were pretty different from each other. I also really liked the unique bass lines. Very poppy but really good regardless. Fave track(s): My Own Way, Hungry Like The Wolf
Unique style, but some songs did blend. The lyrics were somewhat odd but I think it gives the album its charm. Also interesting instrumentals. Fave track(s): Primrose Hill, Are You Coming With Me
Genuinely not as bad as people make it seem to be. This was my introduction to Iron Maiden and it's definitely less heavy than I expected but still good nonetheless. Nothing too special, but I like the guitar and bass riffs. Fave track(s): Prowler, Strange World
Genuinely a good album, but I will say that I enjoyed the instrumentals more than the vocals. All songs were unique and caught my attention Fave track(s): Infected, Heartland, Slow Train to Dawn
The first track is extremely misleading for the rest of the album. Other than that, this felt very appropriate for the 80s. Not bad but not too memorable either. Fave track(s): All the Way, Dream Attack
Their style is so unique, you can't confuse them with anyone else. I like how some of the songs blend into the next. Overall very good. I can just imagine Byrne's dance moves. Fave track(s): With Our Love, Warning Sign, Artists Only
Very interesting and unique style. Some of the lyrics threw me off but the instrumentals make up for it. Somewhat nostalgic but very quirky overall. Fave track(s): She's Leaving Home, Being For The Benefit Of Mr.Kite!
Very strong start with Rapid Fire. Nothing too different but it definitely has it's charm. Towards the end, the songs started to blend. Absolutely love the bass riffs, though. Also really cool album cover. Fave track(s): Rapid Fire, Steeler
I had only listened to Moonshake before this, and I hadn't realized there were only four songs. I might not listen to this again the whole way through, (or I may, who knows, for the ambience), but for one listen it was magical. Amazing instrumentals. Fave track(s): Moonshake
