I don't get the point of this. The whole album gives me an upset stomach.

An absolute mood. Starts off really well, but trails off into a blurred nothingness. A sunny day, getting a bit too hot and sticky.

Brilliant!

I can't believe we were given the Prodigy, then this album! someone up there wants to give me all the albums I like early! Sisters of Mercy is beautiful, and this album is a near perfect nostalgia hit. I just wish I could give it six stars.

Loved it! A unique sound, but the mix of jazz and alternative really worked! Freddie's dead is a great song.

Pretty Good. I love the kinks, but this is not their best album (i prefer Face to Face, or Something Else). It is saved by the title track, and its double, 'village green' for the image of snotty, verdant middle english angst it creates, but it feels rudderless from the third song onwards, becoming an almost stale recreation of the experimental music of the period. Worth listening to, but i'd rather just listen to three of these songs in a sixties playlist than this album all the way through again.

Why are english folk groups so wet? I cannot stand Fairport Convention, or their progeny, at the best of times, but with the undoubted quality of other music scenes in England in the mid 1970s, and of the folk music scene in the US, Scotland and Ireland at the time, why would English artists predominantly go for this mid-atlantic, hurdy-gurdy-come-nashville-trucker bullshit? Like a drunk Bob Dylan, coughing into a phone receiver, I can hear the good genesis of ideas in this album, songs that deserved to be experimented with, but I get bored listening to it, and feel the only enjoyment anyone would get would be the pretence of listening to 'real' aka ancient, folk music. Bring me more Nick Drake, and less of this, please!

Really Good, from start to finish. Instant hit is an instant hit!

If you follow his instructions, this is a very relaxing, and enjoyable experience.

I don't hate it, but i'm not the biggest fan. Spirit are not the only band to drop acid, then record a concept album, but this one often feels lost in a turn of the decade classic rock haze; it doesn't feel very experimental. However, Mr Skin is a banger, and im a fan of street worm too.

I liked the relaxed folk vibe, but no song stood out for me; it all blended into mushy nothing.

Recognised the first and second song, from then onwards, more of the same. Pretty good; i liked the well weighted and consistent use of genre crossovers. However, feels a bit dated; it seems half of all music for the thirty years after this uses the same techniques, and the same blends of generic modes of pop, and hip hop music.

Groovy as hell. Well enjoyed. Loved Casanova

I love it. The great thing about this system of rating albums is it introduces you to something you already know; i have probably heard The Girl from Ipanema 5 times in Television on the radio, but now i can put names to faces, and listen to it repeatedly, not just holding shazam up to season twelve of the simpsons or whatever. Easy listening, with a relaxed and unpunishing vibe, for hot summer days.

So Bland its unreal. Also very hard to find. The 1001 guys put this in, just in case it became big. Unfortunately, anything remotely contemporary is a risk.

Riot Grrls rule! A mixture of late 90s post grunge, and early 80s girl punk, flows well throughout. Deceptacon is iconic

Easy to listen to, doesn't stick in the mind. Felt generic early eighties.

Unmemorable, unremarkable. Undeserving of a place in this list.
