The whole album sounds like Blitzkrieg Bop and Judy is a Punk. If you’re in the mood for that, listen to this album. Fergus came running in with his rope, so he loves this album’s danceability.

Smoky, easy listening, jazzy. Equally at home in a cocktail lounge or a dentist‘s office. “Don’t know why“ is the only song I knew going in, same coming out… Overall, I feel chill after this album.
A classic
If this album was playing in the background of a dive bar, I would nod with the beat and enjoy it just fine, but I would probably think it was the Grateful Dead back catalog. Totally serviceable, like a cold highlife. The exception is “the weight“, ubiquitous hit that says, “take a load off Fanny“. BTW, “put the load right on me” is the title of your sex tape.
Teen girl dance pop, not really my thing.
I just can’t get into Thom York’s voice, it feels like a theremin. Quavering. Makes me feel itchy inside. The craft is acknowledged, not my thing.
New wave. Talking Heads/Duran Duran vibes (heavier on the former). Not loving so far.
“British soul“… Sounds like a lounge act. Warm electric piano, smooth…we used to call it “soft rock“, suitable for dental waiting rooms. Had to skip a couple songs, irritating.
Loved this whole album. Just the best anti-authority fuck you punk vibes. Police and thieves is a gem.

This frank Sinatra album surprised me out of the gate, it was “a vibe” as the kids say… but after The Girl from Ipanema, it’s become super repetitive. Slow, crooning love songs with atomic-age strings beneath. This is the album Betty Draper would put on.

Some solid 60s pop, starts to veer into “parsley sage rosemary and thyme“ Britishy shit. Some gems: time of the season and this will be our year.
The album didn't hit for me, I might enjoy it more if I was very high. I always love their guitar sound and vocals, but the best songs on this album are covers that others did better (hey joe, I know you rider). "Hey mr spaceman won't you please take me along"... I'm just. not. high. enough.
“Irish folk punk“ absolutely yes. Some great storytelling at times heartbreaking and others downright goofy. Dance a jig, do the polka, then cry in your beer. If that’s the mood, play this album.

Some truly wonderful songs on this album, psychedelic harmonies, etc… a fair amount of poppy 60s teenybopper romance as well.
Loved this album. My favorite find of this project so far. It feels so far ahead of its time, I feel like I just discovered the album that’s been influencing many of the artists I already loved.

Psychedelic experimental… some amazing jams on here, but also some of the tracks sound like speaking in tongues, and they make me insane. Maybe good background music.
Some definite bangers, very dense lyrics and interesting instrumentals throughout. I just can’t with his voice. I feel like it would be worth taking a closer listen and really focusing on the lyrics, I might end up really enjoying it.

Good poetry, but her voice is not something I want to jam out to. Pretty but intense.
I still can’t with David Byrne’s voice. I look everything else about it, but I can’t shake the feeling that David accidentally destroyed the vocal tape and hastily squeaked out a shittier version, which made it to print.
Very meh. Feels like a sophomore slump, they are trying to sound like The Beatles, if that makes sense. “All my loving“ is the only standout of their originals on the album. It’s insane that hard days night came out one year later, it feels 1,000,000 miles away.

This album reminds me why I appreciate this project. My first time really listening to Björk, outside an occasional song or SNL impersonation.
Loving this album. It’s not something I’m going to blast in the car or sing along to, but it’ll be perfect when I need to be in a creative space. It’s inspiring and beautiful, and feels almost like a soundtrack…

I dig the sound, the bluesy stuff… The songs are a bit repetitive and unmemorable, and verges into jock jams territory.
If I was having a dance party, I would probably throw a couple of the tracks from this album on there. Overall, pretty bland. There’s a whole song about the power of smiling. “Smile on, pass it on”. Meh. “What is love“ (not that one) has some good instrumentals, some fun stereo tricks.
60s garage rock. It sounds exactly like several other bands from the time period that I couldn’t name (wooly bully, Do you love me, etc), but for some reason I found these guys super annoying. Most of the songs featured a “WOOOOOOW!!“ scream, like R2D2 getting electrocuted open half of the songs on this album. We get it, you like to party. Stop forcing it.
Really enjoyed this one! It’s like a cousin to Pink Floyd, The Who, Styx, and ELO.
This album was honky tonk country, heavy on the honky. Not my vibe musically. Glad she’s out there doing her thing though.

Kind of cool, 70s funk meets Indian. The high-pitched repetitive stuff isn’t my favorite, but glad I checked it out.
Love. Moody, textured, psychedelic. No bangers really, or even memorable songs… reminds me of watching a Coen Brothers movie for the first time, I know I’m going to like it more each time I hear it
One guy and a guitar. Simple, rough around the edges folk music. I don’t feel a strong need to listen to this album again.
Loved! When I think of the 80’s, the sound of this album is right in the bullseye. Shout is a perfect first album track. It tells me to play the album on good speakers and turn it up loud. Was surprised to hear that Head Over Heels has a companion song that leads into it, introducing the theme.
Wonderful craft, a great example of experimental jazz, I guess. I appreciate what they are going for, but I have to be in a very specific mood for this kind of music and today it did not hit. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I would probably enjoy this live in a jazz club, focusing on the performance, but I don’t think I would ever play this album.
Meh. Beautiful Day is a good song, and that’s about all I enjoyed on this album.

Unexpectedly eclectic! Came in expecting 70s proto-hair metal, ended up really enjoying all the blues jams and even the weird broadwayish stuff. Go Alice.
Love The Velvet Underground, this is probably my third favorite album of theirs.
It was interesting, I guess. Felt like someone throwing a bunch of random sounds at the wall to see what sticks. Some of the tracks felt like Eno’s ambient stuff, which I’ve enjoyed, but some of them were adult Gene Belcher.
This album may have cured my Thom Yorke aversion! He still reminds me of someone sitting on a broken, accordion repeatedly, but this album is packed with sweet jams and great lyrics. I may be ready to revisit some of their other albums.

Old-timey big band. Trumpets, strings, old standards. Pretty, but not really my jam.
Coldplay album: to get the authentic experience, I bought the album on itunes and listened in a starbucks.
I still like "Don't Panic" from the garden state soundtrack. Not much else from the album grabbed me... Though it's not on the album, I had "fix you" in my head the whole time. Overall, it's fine. I think with Coldplay, there are a few tracks that I'll always love (fix you, clocks, don't panic) and the rest is filler.
Turned out to be hit or miss for me. Was loving the first few tracks, super fun lyrics and instrumentals, cool samples. Then it started to feel like it was going on forever... this album is 134 minutes long. It feels like a costco load, and not in a good way. Some of the songs are bops, others have me checking to see if the album is almost over. Mixed bag.
A couple songs are musically very fun (hard days night, can’t buy me love). Everything else is generic teenybopper shit, and two of them are John Lennon‘s ugly side. “You can’t do that“ is a warning to his girl that he will leave her if he sees her talking to another guy. Oy.
Really liked it. Clearly an album you need to listen to actively. Gave me all the feels, with an extra dose of melancholy for all the things that have gotten much worse over the years.
The instrumentals were an absolute treat in my headphones, lots of fun, psychedelic stereo effects, and I don’t care if they were ironic.
I’ve never gotten into Zappa before, and this felt like a good way in. I’m interested to listen to more now.
Loved it! It's possible my preferred jazz style is "this could be a cartoon soundtrack".
Overall, I kinda liked moving pictures. (I think I might be a prog rock fan… so earnest without irony or fear of corniness.) The instrumentals were super fun, but I had trouble getting into the vocals. I may be tainted by years of parody on that part.
Some cool beats, but despite the British flavor, I found it boring. Lots of standard hip-hop bragging and posturing, just not really my vibe.
I loved the first song so I was ready to enjoy the album... but after that one, and aside from the 3 hits I already knew and loved, everything else felt like filler. Boring, repetitive and one of them (some might say) was downright obnoxious by the end.
Also the beginning of "Morning Glory" sounds a lot like REM's The One I Love
I like blues rock, but a lot of this album was meh to me. The song about TV dinners was a real low point. I’m sure I would enjoy this album if it was playing in a dive bar.
Sweet, storytelling classic folk/country. Beautifully written and performed. Not something I’d have sought out, not necessarily my jam but enjoyed it overall.
Some wonderful lyrics with a thin veil of music draped over to give it a shape. Kind of like Dylan, but not as folky. I’ll definitely listen to Leonard when I’m in a melancholy mood.
