Pretty good. Relatively silly like some of the early Eno stuff but it was relatively catchy and fun to listen to. I probably enjoyed it more than Piper at the Gates of Dawn or Saucerful of Secrets from what I remember of those, which is impressive.
Already listened to this one a million times. Kicks ass, too bad you can't hear the bass. If it was mixed a little better it would be a significantly closer contender for my favorite Metallica album. Not nearly as consistently strong as Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets probably, but the first half of the album especially is top notch.
This was the first album I've listened to since starting this a couple of days ago that I hadn't even heard of, though I definitely know the song "alright". I haven't listened to much 90s britpop but I enjoyed this album quite a bit, it's fun to listen to. I'll definitely be coming back to it.
This album was fine, not something I feel like I will really get into just because it felt fairly straightforward but didn't really grab me. I'm giving it 2 stars just because I feel like there is a chance that it could grow on me, but it still felt pretty average.
Another album I've listened to a bunch when I was younger, not as good as the first four albums in my opinion because I much prefer the thrashiness of those, but it's still really solid and has some great tracks, especially in the first half.
Good, catchy songwriting. Never heard a Kinks album before, but I enjoyed this quite a bit. I will definitely be revisiting.
I've heard this album quite a few times and didn't feel like listening to it again for this just due to its sheer girth. I don't feel like there are any real duds on here, and although the great songs are outnumbered by good ones, the album is still engaging to me all the way through. It's not as focused as Siamese Dream in terms of sound, and it would be easier to justify its length if it told a coherent story, but I still think this is an essential album and I’m going to throw it a 5 just because it contains a large number of songs that I would consider great if not classic at this point.
Didn't really click, but I'll come back to it.
Wasn’t doing anything for me at first but it kinda won me over. It’s fun and relatively catchy. Don’t know if I’ll ever go back though.
This just didn't really do much for me. I generally enjoy more ambient and experimental music, but this one just didn't click. I'll have to give it another shot at some point.
Little bit more folky than what I’m used to listening to, but it’s not bad. Not sure if I’ll come back to it anytime soon, but I enjoyed it a bit for what it is.
Great album, I think I prefer it to Unknown Pleasures. It abandones most of its semblance to punk music and is incredibly dark. There isn't another album that sounds quite like it or makes the same statement.
This album really didn’t do anything for me at all. Besides for debris, I thought it was super boring and wanted to listen to something else instead. Definitely not for me.
This album has some great production and some of the tracks I think are really good in terms of the songwriting. Unfortunately it just doesn't really make me feel much, and I'm just not a huge fan of lyrics being this front and center in music, and that's a general problem I have with rap. I'll likely give it a couple more listens in the future in case it grows on me, but it doesn't really strike me as one of the greatest albums ever made despite its clear ambition.
This was pretty cool. Definitely early 2000s electronic music, but I didn't find it annoying or uninteresting.
I don’t listen to much folk but this was pretty good, I’ll probably be coming back
This was one of the first jazz albums I actually sat down and listened to a few months ago. I can’t claim to really “get” jazz yet but this album is still a really enjoyable listen.
Some interesting bits but otherwise I thought this was pretty damn boring.
The singles are by far the strongest tracks on this album. Everything else is just okay if not slightly stale.
This was super cool. Was not expecting what sounds like a grunge album from 1984. Great album and clearly super influential.
My expectations were not that high because I’ve never loved “rehab”, but wow this album is consistently amazing.
I’ve heard this quite a few times before. It’s good, especially the tracks metal and cars. The album is a little bit repetitive in terms of synth tones, but I still really enjoy listening to it.
Overall the sound of the album is good, it’s just that every song pretty much sounds the same. It starts to become really repetitive.
Liked the first half the first time I heard it but when I came back to it this didn't really do much for me at all.
I know this was influential but I’m pretty sure damn near everything that has come out since then is more interesting.
Would give a 4 for the number of classics if the overall sound southern rock didn’t bore the hell out of me
I was expecting some boring 70s glam but was surprised by the competency and variety here. This seems like it rewards multiple listens but was fun enough the first time to keep me hooked. I'm an Eno lover so it's cool to finally hear what he was up to prior to his solo stuff. I'll have to give it other listen or two but I feel like I may end up bumping this up to a 5, I really liked it.
Not the biggest fan of this type of classic rock but Janis Joplin’s vocals are cool and overall the writing isn’t too boring; pretty fun.
I've never seriously listened to Eminem before this and expected to hate it but I'm honestly impressed. The ridiculousness of a lot of the lyrics is annoying but hilarious. I honestly don't know how seriously I should take this and that makes it even more entertaining. Would give it above a 3 if it didn't start to wear on me by the last quarter.
Pretty nice and relaxing, I'll probably have to give it another listen. Nothing about any of the tracks really stood out to me though and it didn't strike me as very noteworthy or interesting.
Not much of a country fan but this album was pretty, I liked quite a few of the tracks.
I listened to this album a couple of times a few years ago and definitely felt like it was ahead of its time, but didn't enjoy it a ton for what it was. Relistening to it now, it is obviously incredible and pretty much a perfect album.
There were a couple of catchy singles on here but most of the songs weren't memorable. The lyrics also suck if you aren't 13 or 49 years old.
It was just fine, pretty repetitive.
Really good, definitely coming back. Excited to hear the Low End Theory.
This was great. I've held off from checking out early Genesis for a while despite liking contemporary prog and I wish I had listened to this sooner, I love the classical elements like those in Yes' records. Originally gave it a 4 but after listening a couple more times I've bumped it up to a 5; easily one of the best prog records I've heard.
It was alright, I'm not much of a blues fan but it was good.
Not my preferred classic Christmas album but it's alright.
I wanted to like this album but it didn’t really do anything for me at all. Not bad but just not memorable.
Pretty good, the first half I enjoyed especially but it started to get old towards the end.
There were some great tracks on here but the majority of them I would consider to be just good. I tried to treat the halves as different albums but still listened to the whole thing in one sitting, which may have been a mistake since the whole thing got to be pretty tiresome and felt bloated. I'll probably come back to give it another shot at some point but the sheer length makes it pretty daunting.
I was surprised by how consistently good this album was. I feel like a lot of new wave bands have one or two bangers per album and the rest is pretty samey but this was really good, even if you don't count the obvious singles.
Goddamn this was a slog. I don't care if she has a good voice, that's literally the only thing this has going for it. Nearly an hour and a half of lowest common denominator radio slop.
Really really boring, kinda made me mad.
It’s alright. Good enough to not be boring but it’s not terribly interesting. Fine summer background music.
This was really boring. I understand that most people who like this album enjoy it for the lyrics. Maybe someday I’ll give it another shot and pay more attention to those, but for now I can only give this the benefit of the doubt and a 2.
Better than I remembered. Singles carry it but it’s probably pretty fun to get drunk to and play really loud.
Pretty repetitive but still good. Doesn’t have shit on any Marley I’ve listened to though.
The great moments on here were balanced out by those that were overly theatrical and kind of annoying in my opinion. Definitely overrated but not bad by any means.
