1001 Albums Summary

This is one of my favorite albums. I've listened to Marty Robbins my whole life. I remember when he had a variety show on tv. He's the real deal. A true entertainer.

Classic blues. Lively and true.

I don't usually listen to heavy metal music from this era. If I listened to this without the background of when it was created, I wouldn't think much of it. However, knowing the context and history, it's pretty powerful. I doubt I'll start listening, but it could definitely grow on me.

Love it. Capturing a moment in time with one of the greats.

They have an beautiful, ethereal style that, for me, requires a specific state of mind.

Such fun. I'm embarrassed to say that I've always considered Courtney Love to be 2nd rate artist, but, again, embarrassed, I've never listened to Hole. This is great music. So tight with the era. My apologies to Ms. Love and the band. I've wasted 30 years of my life.

Oh boy. This is not my cup of tea. I've spent about as much time as 3/4 of this album listening to rap (or hip hop). It's a garrulous, joyous explosion of talent and fun. I can't say I love it, but I see why people do. I need a few more listens to understand it.

This is not at all what I expected. Reminds me of John Frusciante a bit. Very fun. Lots of creativity and talent.

I haven't listened to Leonard Cohen very much. He's very much of his time. I like it. I hear at lot of influences from musicians who followed him.

I enjoyed that way more than I was expecting. The homey, country vibe is fun. I definitely hear the influence on Nirvana. I favorited this band.

This is beautiful. Ms. Vaughn's voice s is smooth as silk. Luscious and sensuous. The backing band is on point, too. I need more of this is my life.

This is very much of it's time. Early psychedelia with the juxtaposition of the staid with the weird and wacky.

Classic songs. But really just a couple you'd listen to more than once. The weird thing is they were a band from San Francisco who sounded like they were from southern Alabama pretending to be from Louisiana.

I've been listening to Jefferson Airplane most of my life. The top hits are obviously well known and regarded. I was surprised by some of the other songs (without Slick as the lead singer). They are very psychedelic. Good stuff. I agree with the other reviewer who says, we need an 8 minute version of White Rabbit. Jerry Garcia played on this album. I want his kind of noodling.

For women who claim to be independent of men, they sure sing about them a lot. They need to check out the 4B movement.

This is a great album. These guys were just making music they loved.

I've never really listened to Meat Loaf beyond the big hits, but I am impressed at his talent. Yes, the music is theatrical and overly dramatic, but the guy has skills. Very impressed. Now I know who Jack Black modeled his rock star persona on.
